My brother sent me to assassinate Aleksei Petrov. He told me he was a threat to our family, but he didn’t tell me the truth. When I came looking for him, Aleksei was ready, but he spared me.I work for him now, and before this is over I will find out why my own brother lied to me…
Will Willow forget her past to submit to Aleksei
Piper quickly pulls you into the twisted lives of Willow and Aleksei when they meet at a fundraising gala. The steam that comes off the two of them is intense and Aleksei takes it to a whole new level as he tries to get Willow to submit to him. Will Willow’s brother ruin everything or will Aleksei come out the victor? You have to read to find out and won’t want to put the book down until you turn the last page!
This was my favorite in this series so far. Willow and Aleksei had a great chemistry with plenty of hot and steamy scenes between them. The book was darkish with mafia storyline and some light BDSM play between main characters, but nothing too much.
However, the story and characters were confusing at times. Willow was supposed to be this super bad assassin, but she ended up being completely naive and clueless about mafia and her brother’s business. The explanation on why she was acting as her brother’s hitman also didn’t add up and was contradicting.
I’m being kind of generous with 3.5-4 stars because Willow and Aleksei ended up being my favorite couple in this series so far. But the storyline would definitely benefit from another round of editing.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a truly intriguing mafia romance with a slightly dark undertone. The story-line & plot is intriguing, well-thought out & written with some suspenseful situations & good scene descriptions. The well-developed characters have unique personalities that are quite complex & are inclined to be devious and/or cruel at times although I will admit that one of the characters (Willow) did not strike me as a merciless assassin.
It is about: a conniving brother (Peter Church) orders his sister who happens to be an assassin (Willow) to kill a remorseless mob boss (Aleksei) naturally she fails & is captured & claimed by Aleksei.
There is: twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, secrets, mystery, illegal drugs, deceit, betrayal, threats, danger, violence, enemies, coercion, ultimatums, blackmail, mild BDSM, discipline, spankings, domination/submission, defiance, violence, emotional turmoil, conflict, disclosure, confrontations, explosions, life-threatening incidents, abduction, vengeful feelings, justice, love, contentment, steamy scenes & a well-deserved happy conclusion.
It was a split decision for me in regards to this book. I just loved the tension, the powerful attraction, the sizzling chemistry and the scorching heat that snapped and sparked between Willow and Aleksei. but on the other side of the coin I had huge issues with the many conflicting details in the storyline. This is my candid, elective review.
This was the first Piper Stone book that I have read but it will only be the first of many, I really loved it and didn’t want it to end. It has everything, suspense, a sensuous, erotic, sexy love story, intrigue, betrayal, justice and some unexpected happy surprises. I was gripped from the beginning to the very last page. I can’t recommend it highly enough
