Harley Vincent is resigned to life in the human world. Sure, being a margay shifter is half her nature, but life among humans gives her the freedom to roam and do as she pleases. That is, until anti-shifter extremists target her, putting her life in immediate danger. When an old acquaintance and onetime fling, Jesse Dalton, shows up to offer the protection of his pack, Harley hesitates. She may … She may have feelings for Jesse that go beyond their one-night stand, but life among shifters means giving over her independence to the needs of pack. Plus Mercury Pack has its own threat to face: a rich half-shifter is determined to claim their territory at any cost.
Jesse, who lost his true mate as a child, has wanted Harley since their night together, and he’s not letting her go again. They may not be destined for each other, but he knows she belongs to him and with his pack. Even if he can convince her to join him now, can he convince her to stay?

Great listen and some likeable characters with all the fun of classic shifter mating romance. If you like that, you’ll like this.
I’m not sure if it’s because this was much heavier on the relationship and less emphasis on the action or if I just didn’t connect with Harley or Jesse as much as I did other characters in the series – this is my least favorite of the Mercury/Phoenix books. That said, it’s still an enjoyable listen. Though more for being intrigued by lesser known or newly introduced secondary characters. Jesse and Harley aren’t fated mates (and no, they don’t discover later that they actually are) which is a unique twist on the somewhat repetitive romantic story arc of previous books. I also liked that Harley is a cat shifter, bringing another added dimension and set of abilities to Wright’s shifter world.
I also didn’t connect as well with Jill Redfield’s narration in this one as with past books. She does a great job giving every character their own voice and then keeping that consistent through both series – so it could just be that her voices/pitch/style for Jesse & Harley aren’t ones I prefer. As far as technique – she’s a fantastic performer and not liking a particular voice in this instance isn’t meant to be critical of her skill.
Book 2 of the Mercury Pack series by Suzanne Wright.
I’ve mixed feeling of this book in places it was really slow and I had to really push through it but then 60% in it really picks up and gets really good. I think what made me stick it out fully was Harley she’s a total crazy firecracker and I absolutely loved her shifter cat which is a Margay feline that is small but deadly. Her personality is hilarious as well. If she cares then she’s invested 100% but if you are not a nice person or she doesn’t trust you then she won’t give you time of day. Jesse isn’t very surprising for a dominant wolf shifter but gets yo having his hands full when he decides to try claim Harley.
Absolutely love the Phoenix and Mercury getting together in I’d book and looking for to fresh new characters coming into series.
Finally an imprinted pair… Jesse and Harley are not true mates and they go way back. Harper was a friend of Jesse’s sister, Mia.
The story was okay for me. As the plot was somewhat similar to the other books in the series(both Phoenix and Mercury pack)
I love how we still get an update on all the characters and how each keep evolving in the series. New characters were introduced and hopefully will bring something new to the plot.
I was still entertained, the way Harley answer’s her phone and the creepiness of Willow still a good read
Yes, just yes! I can not get enough of the Mercury Pack. The author does a fabulous job writing a story that keeps the reader hooked from start to finish and wanting more!
This follows Jesse as he saves and pulls Harley into his pack for her protection.
The pack is having trouble with a half shifter that wants the pack to relocate. He is found to hate shifters and usually buys their land, them willing or not, he gets his way.
This pack will not give up their land for anything.
Read to follow the struggle with Hector, the pack accepting a newcomer, Harley adjusting to pack dynamics as well as figuring out if trying a relationship with Jesse is worth it or not, a reporter with a grudge, and more!
I adored this book, partly because I loved the heroines and the way the author portrays dominant and submissive females and I loved the packs and the way the author gave the sense of one massive family instead of just two packs.
It did get quite steamy and some of the books could contain things that other readers might find disturbing or graphic.
Absolutely adore this series and am defiantly being the next book.
I Love, Love, Love, FREAKING LOVE, this author. A mutual friend referred her to me and I am blissfully in love with her writing. I have read her Deep in Your Veins series, Dark in You series, Phoenix Pack series and now the Mercury Pack series. and not once have I said I no longer want to read her books. I love everything about her books. I love the heroines most of all. The witty comebacks, the strong but tender males and the action, oh my, do I love the way she has the characters acting out in their true nature and killing off the bad guys. Love It!…In this book we have Harley and Jesse. Can someone please send me a Jesse Dalton, wrapped up in a bow? Pretty please? Lol…talk about a seriously, all-out dominant alpha, who is NOT taking no for answer, who refuses to give up his mate and will tell anyone who even thinks about disrupting their relationship to kiss off? Wow! I loved Harley of course, she is a margay cat/human shifter and she doesn’t mess around at all. She gives everyone who decides that she is easy prey, a good scratching with deep grooves, if they even mess with her or her mate. Lol. As usual the Phoenix pack members pay a visit and the laughter ensues. The most important thing I noticed in this story was the imprinting of 2 shifters, as opposed to the true mates. Wright wrote this beautifully and I found that I really liked that the other members of the Mercury pack discussed the whole imprinting vs true mates angle. It really brought it all together for me and I understood that angle better. Poor Jesse lost his true mate at a young age and Harley was disliked by his pack because they felt she led his younger sister to drugs. Add in that Harley’s father may or may not be the leader of The Movement and we are in for some crazy moments. I fell in love with Cassidy and love Willow even more with her movie quotes. Those scenes where Willow says those quotes from horror flicks, BEST EVER!!!! Lol I wonder what Cassidy’s future entails. It was an interesting moment with her and Cain towards the end to say the least. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Wright’s stories and I cannot wait for her next book. 4.5 stars!!!!
Wow! Just WOW! This book was such a pleasant surprise to me! Not only because Jesse and Harley weren’t each other ‘true mates’ but also because I never expected Jesse to be so alpha and possessive! Although we have met Jesse in previous books, we (the reader) never got to know him really well (the same can be said about Zander and Bracken), so I never expected him to be so intense and dominant. And I ADORED it! It was also a pleasure to meet Harley and her anti-social margay cat. I had such fun with those two.
When I read in the blurb that Jesse’s true mate had dead as a child I was intrigued because it meant that Harley wasn’t his true mate but Jesse still wanted to claim her as a mate. So I had a lot of questions at the beginning of the story. How would Jesse convince Harley to not wait for her true mate but to mate with him? Would his feelings be just as intense as it would have been with a true mate? And how would they become mates without being ‘true mates’? After reading the story I can tell you that all my questions have be answered. I could give you the answers but what would be the fun of that. But I will tell you that the chemistry between Harley and Jesse was very, very intense!!
Just like the other Suzanne Wright’s books, this story is told in both POV’s. I would recommend that you read ‘The Mercury pack’ series from the beginning, so that you have the full background story of this pack. It makes reading this story more pleasurable.
The next story in this series is about Jesse’s packmate Zander and I can tell you now that I’m very curious about his character and story.
‘Force of temptation’ is a great story and it’s a wonderful continuation of this series.
This is a great read. Harley is a mess but such an interesting character. Being a Margay wild cat shifter gives her such a different personality. I love her attitude, snark and loyalty. I do have to say that the pool game was something else. The movie quotes were almost scare but truly funny at the same time. Highly recommend this one. I received a complimentary copy of this book. I freely leave this honest review.
Force of Temptation the 2nd book in the Mercury Pack series was so good! The Mercury Pack series is the spin off series of The Phoenix Pack series. The stories and characters intertwine so much that I don’t miss my favorite couples from the Phoenix Pack. I love Suzanne Wright. I have been a fan of hers for years. I’ve never read a book written by her that I haven’t loved. I truly don’t know how she does it. But somehow she writes book after book that just does it for me. Suzanne Wright gots mad skillz!
Jesse Dalton pack enforcer for the Mercury Pack was a dark and damaged wolf. He lost his true mate when he was a kid and it altered. He was lost in his pain for a long time. He walked around a shell of a person until Harley brought him back to life. Now he will stop at nothing to have the little Margay as his mate. Jesse was everything I have come to expect from SW’s heroes. He was pushy, dominate, sexy, protective, and deadly. In other words a yummy wolf shifter that stole my heart. Harley Vincent was a lone half human/ half Margay shifter that lived in the human world. She had tried the shifter world when she was a child and they treated her like crap. All but the one boy, the one she had a huge crush on Jesse. After a one night stand 3 years ago Jesse is back in her life telling her that she will be his mate and that he is going to protect her. Making her kitty want to claw up his domineering face and rub all over him and purr at the same time. Harley was snarky, sassy, loyal, and totally kicked some butt. She was a very likable heroine.
I was really worried about the fact that Jesse and Harley weren’t true mates. That was a totally different thing than what I am use to with Suzanne Wright. All the other couples have been true mates. I worried that Harley would play second place to the ghost of his dead true mate or that Jesse would feel like second place to the true mate out there that Harley never met. But I was wrong. I felt their love and connection. They felt like true mates to me. One of the things I really enjoy about shifter books is when the shifter has animal like characteristics. As an animal lover I enjoy picturing all those cute animal qualities. So to say that I loved every bit of the Harley’s cute margay is a understatement. I am a huge cat lover and I was just giddy over the cute little margay’s antics. Climbing trees, the purring, sleeping on her mates chest, and riding on the wolfs back omg it was just cute!
I loved everything about this book. I loved the plot. It gave me plenty of action. I enjoyed the cute kids especially Willow and the way she was always quoting lines from scary movies. Tray and Taryn made an appearance. I always love when I get time with Tray and Taryn(all time favorite couple). There was time with the pack mates and it’s always good to get to know the pack better. Something is going on with Eli that has me wanting his story next although I wouldn’t mind Bracken’s story either! Overall this book just did it for me. Another great book by Suzanne Wright!
Great Series
