They say that which is forbidden tastes the sweetest. And you know what?It is abso-effin-lutely true.My name is Blake Cavaletti, and I was recently traded to the Las Vegas Wolves hockey team. But before the season even started, I met the coolest girl. Her name is Noelle, and she’s hot as sin.Too bad it may now end before it even begins. See, I just found out the girl I like so much is my teammate … like so much is my teammate Noel Sandlund’s twin sister.
Talk about messed up!
He’s a friend of mine and uber-protective of his sister.
Man, how did I not see the resemblance? Must’ve been Noelle’s amazing boobs and fabulous ass that threw me off. Or maybe it’s because she’s so perfect for me.
Somehow, though, I don’t think that’ll fly with Noel. No, he’s probably going to kill me when he finds out.
That’s why he can never learn the truth.
Not until I prove myself—to the team, to Noelle, and to her protective brother.
Before it all blows up.
Forbidden on Ice is the eighth novel in the bestselling Boys of Winter hockey romance series.

It’s been a while since I’ve been in this world. This was really cute. It gives me major Pucked energy. Really humorous and I like that there’s very little to no angst in this one. That’s not always easy to do with the whole “teammate’s sister” thing. But this book managed it.
This is the first Boys of Winter book by SR Grey that I have read/listened to and it makes me want to go back and binge read the first seven books. The story flows effortlessly from Blake’s to Noelle’s point of view. Blake is swoon-worthy. As a hockey player he has a bit of a reputation as a player but as the new trade with a new team, he’s just looking to stay in Las Vegas. Then a chance meeting with Noelle in a bar changes his focus. The banter between the characters is sexy and sweet and their chemistry is red-hot.
It was supposed to be a one-night stand until too much chablis and a sweet caring man changes the game. It was all going so well until they learned Blake’s teammate is Noelle’s overprotective twin, Noel. Then Ms. Grey weaves a sweet, flirty, sexy story of a couple trying to explore their relationship and hide it from her brother and the team. What starts out as a flirtation turns into an all-consuming love but their road to the HEA encounters a few detours along the way.
The audiobook of this story is addictive. Oliver Clarke is a new to me narrator, but his voice is as smooth as fine whiskey and almost as intoxicating. His narration really brings Blake to life for the listener. I’m pretty sure I could listen to this book on repeat just to hear the sexy timbre of his voice. He brings out the playful side of the character as well as the heartfelt emotions of Blake. Regan West is the perfect narrator for Noelle. She give the character a fun, flirty vibe and the conveys Noelle’s emotions well.
I loved this story and the audiobook narration and I strongly recommend anyone who likes sports romance, particularly hockey to grab this book. Excuse me now I’m going to go back to another book in the series and escape from real life.
I really enjoy the Boys of Winter series and Forbidden on Ice is another fun and steamy romance! Blake Cavaletti was recently traded to the Las Vegas Wolves hockey team and he is excited to prove he is a valuable part of the team. The night before practice starts he meets the woman of his dreams and they have a night of passion but never exchanged names. They hope to meet again only Blake finds out she is the twin sister of his team mate, Noel Sandlund, making her off limits. Noelle wanted a night with no rules. She is about to start classes and needs to let loose before she has to get serious. She is drawn to Blake and would like more, but when she finds out he plays for the Wolves, and with her over protective brother, she doesn’t think it will happen. But their chemistry is too explosive to stay away from each other and they start a secret affair. But what happens when their hearts get involved and Blake wants to keep it a secret and Noelle doesn’t. Can their relationship work without breaking their hearts? Reagan West, and Oliver Clarke’s narration was spot on. They set each scene, drawing me in, and their voice changes for each character was well done, allowing me to lose myself in this story. I just cannot get enough of this sexy hockey team and can’t wait for more!
Audio Review:
Forbidden on Ice (Boys Of Winter, Book 8) brings back the Las Vegas Wolves hockey team with a new Player Blake Cavaletti. A sweet and salty sports romance with witty banter and fun times. I loved how the author weaved Illusion on Ice, Noel and Maisie’s into the story. Cleverly scripted. Characters are compelling and supported characters add to the edge. Another goal scored with this one. Looking forward to listening to the next audio in this series when available.
Narators Oliver Clarke and Reagan West’s dual naration was the winning goal scored. Oliver Clark’s baritone was smooth and easy listening. Reagan West’s inflection fits Noelle’s eccentric and bubly personality. Together a entertaining listen.
Listened to the audio version on Audible. There’s 2 narrators; a female and a male narrator for the dual POV in the story, both narrators do a great job. I especially liked the male narrator; he had a nice tone to his voice, which was nice to listen to. The female fit the female character really well. Overall, a great listening experience.
Hockey player Blake meets Noelle at a bar, they connect, but things don’t quite go as planned. Turns out Noelle is the sister of one of Blake’s teammates; Noelle thinks her brother won’t be too happy with them dating, so they decide to keep it secret until they know if it’s more than a passing fancy. These two have to go through some kooky situations to keep their relationship hidden.
I wasn’t loving Noelle’s POV in this first chapters; not exactly a great first impression, but I still liked her. She’s the quirky, cute type. Blake is a total sweetheart! Supportive and not a past dog! Good connection between these two, and some good passion!
Overall, this was a fun, sweet read! Good humor and entertaining!
OMG! This book had me laughing! Great mix of humor and romance. Noelle meets a gorgeous guy while trying to unwind after a stressful day…and they really hit it off. Plans for a possible future relationship are derailed when she discovers that he is the latest acquisition of her brother’s hockey team! Her brother’s one rule…Noelle cannot date any of his teammates! Can you say FML? Will Noelle allow this edict to prevent her HEA? No spoilers from me…just trust me that you WILL want to find out what happens!!
Forbidden on Ice
Boys of Winter, Book 8
By: S. R. Grey
Narrated by: Reagan West, Oliver Clarke
The Wolves are back and what a story SR Grey gives Blake! He has recently been drafted to the Wolves. On a night out, he takes a drunk Noelle home, only to find out there is much more to her than just her looks. When the two find out he plays for the same hockey team her twin brother, Noel does, they decide to keep their relationship a secret. Will they be able to keep it under wraps? What will happen when Noel finds out? Grey is one of my go to authors for that feel good, funny romance. Each one is original, smart and just warms my heart. Blake is a fantastic hero. While a little stubborn at times, he is incredibly romantic and is so easy to love. Noelle is beautiful inside and out. And it’s always fun to visit the other team members and their significant others that we have had the pleasure of getting to know. It is like coming home. This is another goal!
The dual narration of this book is spot on. Reagan West knows this team so well, and her portrayal of Noelle is just as I would imagine her. She develops her personality and gives her voice all the feels. Oliver Clarke is new to me, and what a voice! He is amazing, and gives Blake that warm, protective feel. I loved this team!

S.R. Grey is one outstanding author, her stories always flow with one emotion to another as the story continues!
This is Blake and Noelle’s story and what a story it was!! There was laughter, falling, lust and love!
Will Blake and Noelle get their happily ever after or will family come between them?
Forbidden On Ice was a sweet, steamy romance. Noelle and Blake had instant chemistry and the tension that you can see happens between them make for a delicious slow burn read. I enjoyed how the author brings life to their character, very real and likable. The anticipation of their HEA was worth the wait. An entertaining addition to the series that doesn’t disappoint. Can’t wait to see who gets their HEA next.
Signs of a really good series:
– each book works perfectly as a standalone
– if you hadn’t read prior books in the series you probably wouldn’t even catch where they cross reference
– if you had read prior books and reach those cross reference points it’s an “ah hah!” extra fun point when reading the new book
– there’s a growing family of characters you really care about that have cameos in each other’s books – sometimes being introduced several books (with cameos) before getting their turn to star.
That’s all certainly found in S.R. Grey’s Boys of Winter series and now, in Forbidden on Ice (Book 8), we get the romance of Noelle (twin sister of Noel who had his romance in a superb prior book, and best friend of Cara who starred in yet another prior book) and Blake (who had a key role in Noel’s story). Two fave characters (especially Noelle) who are fundamentally nice people and simply deserve a great romance – and boy do they get one here, from “meet cute” through hidden romance to true love. Wow is this one fabulous, and a superbly written story. I totally loved reading this book and am totally sure that anyone who enjoys a fun romance will love it just as much. Oh, and there’s hockey too! I’m actually a huge lifelong hockey fan so that’s a big plus, but totally irrelevant to the five stars as a total non-sports person will love this book just as much. Highly recommended (but you probably guessed that).
This is the eighth book in the Boys of Winter Series, an amazing Sports Romance. You can read this story as a standalone, but believe me, you don’t want to miss one book in the Series. At least, you should read the seventh book, Illusion on Ice, before this one. Noelle and Blake’s story is beautifully written, fun, and sexy! I loved to follow them in their journey to love. Blake is a professional hockey player, a new addition to the Wolves team. He is handsome, patient, supportive, and caring. Noelle, Noel’s twin sister, is a lovely woman. They are great together, and they share a strong and beautiful chemistry. It was fun to see again the previous characters in the Series. I like the brotherhood between the teammates. I also like the intertwined story with Illusion on Ice, Noel and Maisie’s story. Landen is an intriguing character, and I can’t wait to read his story. Reagan West is already one of my favorite narrators, Oliver Clarke is a new narrator to me, and I love his voice! They did an amazing job with the narration. Their voices are great together! I enjoyed this story, and I highly recommend it. If you like Sports Romance, this series is for you! Looking forward for the next installment in the Series, Bet on Ice, Landen’s book! (review updated with the audiobook version)
Sweet, slow, steady and steamy
Forbidden On Ice by SR Grey is a really nice romance, if fact it’s straight up sweet with the characters taking time to build up to the tension and finally blowing steam in a hot way but fully connected emotionally.
This book, it’s plot and characters is a refreshing change of pace. There’s little antagonism, but the anticipation remains in getting to the HEA. It seems to me, that this author took a more realistic approach, both Noelle and Blake have lives and responsibilities that require their time. Although somewhat fast paced, these two take their time, communicate and make the most of their time.
Overall, a solid romance that hits the mark with all it’s sweetness and steam leading to a wonderful and promising HEA.
I read an ARC of this book from Hidden Gems and voluntarily share my review.
This the first book I’ve read by this author and this series and I am disappointed I hadn’t discovered it sooner. I liked this story so much. There’s some angst but mostly from Blake trying to prove himself. The connection between him and Noelle is instant and they can’t help the chemistry. I loved the characters and the story and I will be picking up the previous books now in order to catch up.
FORBIDDEN ON ICE is another engaging hockey romance by S. R. Grey. This is Blake and Noelle’s story. Blake is new to the Las Vegas Wolves hockey team and when he meets Noelle at a bar, there is an immediate attraction between them. When they meet, they don’t know about their hockey connection. Noelle’s twin brother, Noel is Blake’s teammate and he doesn’t want his sister dating a hockey player. I thoroughly enjoyed this entertaining story. I loved Blake and Noelle together, they made a great couple.. They are realistic and caring and share tons of chemistry.
I’m a big fan of this series and I have to say this book is one of my favorites. I really loved Blake. Just what a gentleman and nice guy he is would win you over, but he sealed his fate with me on how he interacted with some cats. For this cat lover that was a swoon worthy moment. I mean Blake loves animals and he plays hockey how can you resist him. Blake and Noelle had great chemistry. They had sucked into the story. I gobbled this book right up. I like Blake’s way of thinking, Don’t let chances slip through your fingers because you my miss out on the path you were meant to be on.
A Great Sports Romance Read
Blake is traded to the Las Vegas Wolves hockey team and meets a beautiful lady that actually has a connection to Blake that neither of them realize. She is the twin sister of Blake’s friend and teammate. One little problem is that Noel is very protective of his sister. That sure doesn’t stop the chemistry between Blake and Noelle!!
Wow! This book is absolutely phenomenal! It’s very well written with wonderful characters and a fantastic storyline. I loved Blake and Noelle. From strangers to forever love, their entire journey is fun, sweet, exciting and unforgettable.
This was an okay book for me. I enjoyed Blake and Noelle’s story. They have great chemistry and there was a believable love connection that this author brings to life. I wasn’t lost in the the storyline, even though this is the first book I read in this series. Three stars because it was ok….it didn’t have enough drama or “meat” to the story to keep me excited to turn the pages. I received this book at no cost in exchange for an honest review.
I love this series. In some ways I liked this book better than the last, but not in others.
What I liked:
Blake and Noelle were both great. I loved the chemistry and how they just “fit.” I definitely understood why they wanted to keep their secret.
What could be improved:
There just wasn’t enough conflict. Yes, they wanted to keep their relationship a secret from Noel for a bit, but that was it. There was no big conflict or escalation in the story to pique my interest even more.
Overall it was a sweet hockey romance.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Forbidden on Ice is the latest story in the Boys of Winter series. It was a light and airy read, with a bit of suspense on whether they were going to get caught on not. You see Noelle is Blake’s new teammates sister. So you know what that means she’s off limits. I really liked these two they were so sweet and totally ga ga over eachother. I’m really enjoying this series, and looking forward to the next one.
