“We knew the risk. We decided to take it. I don’t regret a single second and neither should you…” – Bryant Benson. It started out so innocent. I saw my best friend’s father at an art show, and I knew the woman hitting on him wasn’t looking for love. I thought I could do him a favor. That’s what I told myself and I think I even believed it. I was just going to walk up, pretend to be his date, and … to be his date, and then we would laugh about it after she was gone.
You know what they say about the best laid plans…
One night of make believe that never should have happened.
It ignited a spark inside both of us.
We tried to fight it until we made a mistake,
And one forbidden kiss led to so much more.
Sometimes, you don’t know that you’re about to cause a scandal until you’re right in the middle of it.

Until next time… Happy Reading!
Really good story. I HATE. Alexis. She is the embodiment of evil. Like why must people like her exist in the world. I really liked the relationship between Bryant and Taylor. I mean yes there is quite the age gap and the fact that she is his daughters best friend but they had a connection and made each other happy. So who is to say that is wrong. Besides the fact that they loved each other and the sex scenes were so hot. He had this commanding slightly dominate side to him. Looking forward to the next book.
Soap-Opera Delight
This read took me back to the days of ‘Erica Caine’ from ‘All My Children’! I loved it!!! Gave me all the feels! All it needed was a slap here and there! On to the next! #HappyReading
This older man younger woman romance does not disappoint. When Taylor sees her best friend father at an art showing being approached by a woman that is out to hook a man, she kisses him to ward off the woman. One kiss was all it took to hook them on each other but will their coming together be the end to a friendship between the two friends? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
Taylor falls for her best friend’s father, but there is more than an age differences and social taboos keeping them apart. They have to overcome interference from an evil antagonist as well.
This book had a lot going on. I really hated the antagonist, and I hated that she could manipulate the people in the story. Bryant did not seem to have the self-control I would have expected, giving into Taylor’s temptation easily. Their chemistry was good and the physical scenes were hot. I was intrigued and a little frustrated with the twists and turns, but I refused to put the book down. I really wanted these two to get their HEA.
Could not put down, romance with a twist. Fun read!
sex at every turn…….real people do not confuse constant sex with love.
sex and wealth,,,,,too much fluff, no daily real life here.,
Story was not bad. I felt like the main characters relationship moved really quickly given the situation, but that’s just me. Still, not a bad read.
This is the great story of Taylor and her best friend’s dad Bryant. Taylor is studying art at the local university when she gets a chance to mingle amongst the privileged at an art show. She notices Alexis, a conniving and manipulative woman, flirting with Bryant. She hasn’t seen him in many years but he’s just as charming and sexy as ever. She doesn’t think twice about going to his rescue. She had no way of knowing that her decision would lead to the best and the worse events of her life. The characters are determined, complex and intriguing. The storyline is suspenseful, filled with ups and downs and twists and turns. Fabulous read.

I would have given more stars but I felt the wonderful story was muddled in graphic sex. I have no problem with sex in books but this was overwhelming the actually good story line. He is her bff’s dad. She is a college art student and meets him at an art show. She always had an attraction to him but, because of a money hungry vipers attention, she pretended to be his date. Things took off from there but the angst was bc she didn’t know how to tell her friend or family about the relationship. The viper became dangerous by blackmailing him.
I couldn’t even. I didn’t even get to the meet/cute and I couldn’t stand these people. Or the writing. There was a huge focus on affluence right out of the gate. It was off-putting how many times the author used the terms privileged and unprivileged in the very first chapter. Blech. No thank you.
Going to an art auction in Carson Cove can net you more than a painting
Forbidden Kiss is the first book in the new Carson Cove Scandals series by Kelli Callahan and I really enjoyed reading it. Based on the book description it looked like it could either turn into a rom-com or take a darker and sexier twist. And it took the second option but with a sprinkling of the first also. The story-line was well developed, the writing was really good and the characters were fantastic as they had a lot of depth and were interesting together. Add in some very interesting supporting characters and the story was quite engaging.
I would recommend this book. I am hoping that the rest of this series is at the same level as if it is then I am all in and it will be a winner.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

In this book we meet Taylor Abernathy and Bryant Benson. Taylor is an art major at Carson Cove University. After her parents decided a divorce was in their future somewhere out of state was no long in Taylor’s. At the university they give a lottery to give a few tickets to some of the students to attend the charity auction of some prominent art pieces. This year Taylor was one of the ones chosen she can’t believe her luck and is really there for the art that is until she sees Bryant. He is the father of her elementary best friend and she at one time had a huge crush on him. She hasn’t seen him in years but she isn’t sure she even has a chance after who she sees him with. Bryant didn’t even want to come to this event. He wishes he could just send money or purchase the pieces he wants through a third party. However he does show and one look at the woman at the bar he believes he knows her. When she turns he knows he does. Can these two find that their HEA is with each other or will outside forces make sure that never happens?
This is another amazing hit by this author. It does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don’t want to ruin the story for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
Loved this book. I totally wasn’t prepared for all of the twists and turns. The ending was awesome. Great characters (even the supporting characters are great), great world building and great story. Really excited to see what happens with the rest of the series (Not a cliffhanger) and the other characters that we were introduced to here. Must read!
I thoroughly enjoy Kelli Callahan’s writing. She speaks to the sociologist within me and always leads me down a path of thought exploration and social taboo pondering. A step above the typical “daddy” tropes, Callahan writes stories of older established men falling in love with much younger women and all the life crap you would associate with such a union in a believable, heart felt way. And Forbidden Kiss is a wonderful example of the smart, sexy prose within this subsection I have come to appreciate from her.
Set in the wealthy community of Carson Cove, this first book (in what I hope is a long, long, series of books on these characters) is an emotional tingling ride reminiscent of Dynasty with a dash of 90210, Laguna Beach, and 007 intrigue to keep your nerves on a delicious edge.
This first story of Bryant and Taylor, a forty-five year old investment mogul and 23 year old art student, takes you through a winding scenario of what happens when an innocent act of pretend, meant to help a best friend’s father avoid a money hungry divorcee on the prowl, turns into something much, much more. A tale of what happens when said villainous divorcee has the money, power, and ability to destroy lives to get what she wants, collateral damage and consequences be damned. It is nail biting and emotional. It keeps you on the edge wondering if the bad guys are actually going to win! And will have you yelling at the evil Alexis to die a well deserved, literary death. And it was almost glorious.
I was hooked and eager to root for truth and fall in love with Bryant and Taylor and their fight to be together and win against all odds, but there just wasn’t enough of them to fall in love with.
The idea of Bryant and Taylor, of a relationship such as this is an intriguing one. One I would have gladly followed (and still would follow) from start to finish. But I needed a real progression, one that showed more of them and their connection, more of why they’re fighting for each other, and of the natural evolution from initial attraction to the love they declare. However, instead I felt confused and unfulfilled because of the many important aspects not present, seemingly left on the editing room floor, which should have been included in the final print. From start to finish Bryant and Taylor’s journey is cut short, made unrealistic, and seemingly only based in sex, which for the books end result doesn’t quite connect. And I was left wondering aloud about how they ended on such a solid foundation when no foundation building is presented in the first place.
I longed for an expanded view of the start of their journey, an extra chapter outlining some more day-to-day “dates” if you will. Perhaps another chapter (or even a couple of paragraphs) interweaving Taylor’s art into the mix, introducing Bryant to it, having him interact with it. I wanted to see their journey beyond the sexual in order to better understand the feelings the characters put into words later in the book. I desperately needed more of the confusing, danger filled, winding love road of Bryant and Taylor that led them to their ending declarations. Because although this book contains enough heart pounding intrigue to keep you reading to the end it sadly contained very little of the actual relationship between the main characters and it left me feeling cheated and wanting more.
Hopefully the series additions coming soon will expand on these characters and fill in some of the missing pieces and gaps I long for. However, I would also HAPPILY buy an expanded edition of this book! One with a few more chapters connecting all the delicious dots, that coupled with a bit of typo/word omission fixes (there were a fair amount of typos in this edition), would take this book easily from a good read to a must read!
I was so into this book. KC made me feel like I was in the same room as the couple. I was getting angry at who was breaking them apart. I was breathing a little fast during the sexy scenes. It was just a great book!!

Victoria is a college girl, when she overhears a conversation about the treacherous divorcee going after her next victim she steps in. The victim is Bryant, the father of Victoria’s best friend, Her intervention leads to her affair with Bryant. This begins a trail of secrets that leads to blackmail and uncovers a lot of criminal misdeeds. There a lot going on in this story beside the romance between Victoria and Bryant. Well written, suspenseful, steamy, a plain ole good read.
