I’ll read anything Elisabeth Naughton writes! This foray into dark romance is not to be missed. Warning, this is the first in a trilogy and ends on a cliffhanger but all three books are available now so you can binge read the entire series and fall in love with Luc and Natalie!
Provocative, sensual, and utterly addictive, Forbidden once again proves that Elisabeth Naughton is a master of romance.
Guys!
This is so, so good. I’m talking page turning, bring on the suspense, heat and what the heck is happening kind of book.
And the ending. Let’s just say the next book will be pushed to the top when it lands on my kindle.
Right from the start, my mind went into a tailspin. Whizzing and wondering.
This book is contagious. Reel me in baby.
Welcome to the “Forbidden” world. Forbidden is the first book of a three part series, The House of Sin series. The book opens with Natalie, a midwestern businesswoman, being in New York, scrambling about on her own, looking for clues as to what really happened to her lifelong friend and college roommate, Elane . She stays in Elane’s apartment and applies for work at Elane’s place of employment where she encounters people who are friendly, some not so friendly, some helpful, and some openly hostile, just like anywhere else in the world.
Natalie quickly discovers though, like the little bird that falls from the nest, just because someone dishes out crap, does not necessarily mean they wish you harm. Now Natalie has to realize that the fox that is digging her out of the mess, may actually be trying to devour her.
Ms Naughton’s characters are usually fully fleshed out and well developed in her novels, in part, so that the reader can relate to their motivations and trepidations. However in this book, especially initially, we don’t see that as much because these characters are evolving, learning and adapting on the fly as they face new things and new revelations. As the novel continues, the characters find themselves becoming persons other than who they believed they were.
Ms Naughton also pens very intense sexual encounters in her novels. This book is no exception there, but those scenes in this novel are not restricted to the protagonists lovemaking. That will be a bit different for Naughton readers.
The suspense of Natalie’s search for clues to what happened to her friend, and the things that Natalie accidentally discovered ramp up to an exhilarating point where the second novel in the series will take over. Forbidden is different from Ms Naughton’s previous novels, but a change of diet can sharpen the appetite. I highly recommend Forbidden for your reading list. I’m anxiously awaiting the next installment in the series.
I was on the edge of my seat as I read this book and I can’t wait for the rest of the series (I’ve pre-ordered all of it). One of my favorite books of the year!
I’m a big fan of Elisabeth Naughton’s Eternal Guardians series and I’ve resisted reading any of her contemporary romance because I love that series so much, but the blurb for this book hooked me (as it’s supposed to). By the end of the first chapter of Forbidden I had a nervous, uneasy feeling in my stomach that usually tells me the story I’m reading is going to push boundaries in an intense and emotional way. It did not disappoint!
Forbidden is intriguing, intense, and sexy. It’s one of those books I hesitated to read because I knew I was going to get sucked in and wouldn’t want to do anything except read and then the book would be over and all I’d have then is a book hangover. But I persevered and was constantly on the edge of my seat, waiting for the shoe to drop. Haters of cliffhangers beware: this one is a doozy.
Yes, I had a hangover and am now impatiently waiting for the next installment in the series.
What a wild ride. Amazing writing and so realistic it is scary.
It was okay but not enough for me to get the second book.
Fun read! One of those books I read when I want to escape this world.
Excellent read! I will be looking forward to reading more by this author!
i was ready with my credit card for the next installment of the story.
This was definitely a wonderful read! I don’t think I could say anything that was bad. The characters where nicely written, each of them with a dynamic of their own. It had a lot of detail and was lengthy enough for you to fall for the characters. It was written well with a variety of language. There was definitely times when I couldn’t put it down! I read this in three days! You won’t be disappointed!
wonderful!
I loved this story. You help rooting for Natalie and Luc. The writing is superb and keeps the reader engaged. There are three books in the telling of this story.
Unresolved ending 🙁
I liked it so much I bought the second one in the series.
What a great book! I couldn’t stop reading it.
This is a series of 3 books. I could not put then down till I finished all three
The main male & female characters are wonderful! This book has it all: mystery, mayhem, steamy scenes, plot twists, laughter, fear, & it’s such a page turner that you can’t put the book down! The main male character keeps you on you guessing about him because you can’t figure out from 1 moment to the next if he’s going to be a jerk, or nice, or funny, or romantic & sweet. Can’t wait to read the next book in this series!!!
Good story, but a cliffhanger
