For Whom the Sun Sings is a beautiful, heartbreaking, thought-provoking, wondrous read. This author has found a permanent place on my favorites list. I’m definitely looking forward to more from him. I loved his writing style. It was so fluid and descriptive. I could picture everything perfectly. The world-building was spectacular. I loved how everything was slowly revealed. It felt very natural and led me to reading as fast as possible so I could figure out what was really going on.
This is one of those stories where I can’t say a whole lot because it’d spoil so much. Part of the beauty of it lies in discovering everything for yourself and I don’t want to steal that joy from anyone. Just trust me when I say this is a must read. It’ll stay with me for a long time to come. I can’t stop thinking about that ending and I know I’ll want to read this book over and over again. I seriously can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s a book of the year contender, for sure.
This book will capture your attention and your imagination. The descriptive language demanded my attention. I found the characters intriguing. It takes an interesting look at what life might be like if everyone in a village was blind except one girl. How would people react and interact with each other and with the girl?
The storyline kept me reading. I truly found it difficult to put this book down. It is a book meant for Young Adults, but I really think it is worth reading at any age. So check out this book for yourself.
I received a copy of this book for my fair and honest review.
There were so many things that I enjoyed about this story. I loved the unusual premise, the writing style is very good, it’s a character driven story and the main character really keeps you turning the pages to see what’s going to happen next.
I can’t really go into detail about the plot because it would totally ruin the story, but what I will say is that I really wanted more…more answers, more for Andrius and Aleksandras, and I needed an epilogue! There was so much heartbreak that I was left with needing more than the slight hope we are left with at the end of the story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
First off, I have to comment on how lovely that cover is. It is stunning and the perfect gateway to lead you into this story.
Young Andrius is the fantastic character and tells the story in a near poetic way; as we get to explore his world and the beauty in the ordinary. Its the little everyday things I think most of us tend to overlook. What started at what appeared to be a simple tale; ended up having lots of depth and layers woven in some unexpected ways.
This is a beautiful story, with a touch of mystery and some heart-wrenching moments. It made this book very hard to put down once I had started it. I cannot recommend this sweet Fantasy highly enough.
My Thoughts on For Whom the Sun Sings:
The cover is amazing. It really drew me in and made me want to pick up the book and start reading. Once I started to read I just couldn’t stop. This is a rich story that will pull you in and not let you loose. Even when it ends your mind doesn’t think it could be over and wants more! Start reading this book only if you want to be sucked into another time and another place where you won’t ever want to leave again.
This story. I didn’t think I’d like it when I read the description. A village where everyone is blind except one child. But then I read this story. And guys. Wow. This is one that I’m keeping on my shelves and I will have my children read. There is so much depth to this story that you don’t at first see.
If you’re wondering about what I’m talking about, let’s just say a whole world with one different. Think back to Bible stories. A whole world with one different.
Someone the author has wonderfully made this story read like a mystery and you just have to keep reading to find out what will happen next but to also see if what you think you’ve figured out is the truth. Amazing.
I highly recommend you give this book a read and I’m going to be checking out the other works of this author for sure.

Is it wrong to love a book so much that you want to be a character in it? Well I want to be in this book and explore with Andrius. His strength and special abilities make this book a must to have in your possession. The author is well versed in descriptive words and I easily found myself in the village waiting for the big celebration. The story is so well done it is like light spread across pages with no gaps. It is a story to rejoice in and embrace the gift the author gives us through his story.
I needed this book to read because I wanted to escape what was going on around us in the world right now. I wanted a story that would capture a place where I could join in the journey as the story comes to life. Is it possible that the author has reached his pique with this book? I say a big no loudly as I sway to the music that Andrius hears. He is such a special character that it is hard to believe that he only lives in a book. But wait, that isn’t true. His character is alive as he teaches us how important and valuable truth is.
I loved reading about Andrius when he was a baby. It sets the stage for a wonderful bonding moment as his father explains how he rescued Andrius. The love between father and son is well displayed by words of encouragement, wisdom and compassion. Their relationship will be tested at times but Andrius honors his father at all times.
The brilliance in this story is not what is said but what is not said. Scattered throughout the story are little nuggets that gather in your mind as the story and its meaning become clearer. It will be a story I will remember forever as a turning point for me. I was reminded about hope when you can’t see it and faith when you want to give up. I loved every moment I spent with Andrius as he discovers truth and sees past the darkness.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
