This has been my favorite so far. Finally! I was so happy to read a book in this series that didn’t end with the same plotline that the previous four employed. It was just so refreshing. I almost gave up on this series, but now I’m back on board to read the last.
I suppose in regards to drama and danger, this book is fairly lacking when compared to some of the others in the series, but I enjoyed it all the more for it. After reading the last few with things like murder and kidnapping, it was refreshing to read a sweet and steady path toward love.
I enjoyed the two main characters and was happy to see things work out for them in the end. And good for St. Albain for sticking up to his mother. This is a quick read, and I recommend it. It is the fifth in the series, but I think you could get away without reading the preceeding books. Any relevant background information about the family is given briefly in this book.

It was such a lovely and sad story.
To imagine Morgan’s upbringing is so sorrowful, obviously he had all his basic needs provided but what of those for affection?
He was raised as the perfect peer, ready to fulfill his duties to his country and status but with never a dash of caring.
Why it was so much fun to see him evolve, change the profile of his perfect duchess the more he get to know Phoebe.
She was his destined mate from the beginning, he is able without any thought to distinguish her from the twin’s sister, plus she slowly becomes his rightful bride-to-be as all his requirements are meet with her, she is his muse.
He just can’t name the emotion she raises in him as he never previously felt it.
Phoebe is a lovely young woman realizing quickly that behind Morgan’s aloofness lies a shy but kind man unable to navigate the ton’s waters because of his solitary’s schooling.
The tricks and threats of the marriage mart were hilarious to see revealed and outwitted.
Loved the characters and the writing enough to get the other books in this series.
Loved the Cold Duke asking Phoebe to find him a wife
The first ball of the Season was coming in two weeks. Lady Phoebe Sterling stepped out of the dress shop to get a breath of fresh air while her sister, Lady Prudence, continued to look over the design plates to find the perfect gown. As she walked along with the footman, she saw a slovenly man jump from his wagon and start to beat his scrawny horse with a whip. She was about to cross the street to accost the man when a gentleman strode up and grabbed the whip from him. After the two shouted at each other, he took out a pouch and purchased the poor animal! She recognized the Duke of St. Albans, who was thought cold and reclusive. Yet he gave her a wide grin and rode away in his carriage.
The sisters attended their first ball of the Season. Like their 3 sisters and their parents, they wanted a marriage for love. They had found no one in the previous two Seasons who had interested them in that way. Connections, wealth, and heirs were all that mattered to their friends. There was a murmur and the Duke of St. Albans came down the stairs – and headed right to Lady Phoebe! Her dance card was full, so he took a pencil, scratched out a name and added his own – for the supper waltz! Then he went to the card room. When he returned for his dance, she was surprised at how he seemed to know which twin she was, yet he was confident he could tell them apart easily. He was amazed to be enjoying the banter with her, however. She was happy, smiling, and he found that very attractive.
The Duke’s mother asked him to join her at home. She immediately told him to forget the young woman he danced with; she had invited another woman to dinner for him to meet as a potential wife. He told her not to make promises in his name; he was taking Lady Phoebe for a carriage ride on Friday. As they rode in the carriage, he finally turned to Lady Phoebe and asked her to marry him, allegedly as a way of not having to learn all about the courting ritual. When she said No, he was shocked! She told him that unless they loved each other, she would not marry just for his connections and title. And he repeated that love had no part in it and emotions would never influence his decision. What would happen now? Both were firm in their opinion, and marriage was not an option under those circumstances. Would they go their separate ways now? So he took her back to her family where he saw them hug and kiss and genuinely enjoy being with each other.
This book was so much fun to read! The story line was charming, the characters were perfect and likable. The banter between the Duke and Lady Phoebe kept me chuckling all the way through, especially since it was so out of character for the “cold” Duke! Grab a copy of this wonderful story and enjoy the complexities of love!
Callie Hutton has a unique ability to pull you into her stories and make you feel like your in the story. This is a story of love that will melt even the coldest of hearts even when the heart is only pretending to be cold to protect its self. I can’t wait for the next book in this series! This is my honest opinions after I voluntarily read a copy of this book that was provided to me with no requirements for a review.
For the Love of the Duke
Noble Hearts series book 5
by Callie Hutton
This is a happy story, full of humor and romance. The characters are wonderful. Phoebe is headstrong, full of life, and determined to make a love match.
Morgan as a Duke has to be serious, cold and aloof, the only person to witness his kind actions is Phoebe. She intrigues him like no other woman.
The Pomeroy family is not what Morgan ever experienced in a family, their warmth and welcome has him wondering if all families are the same. Henry added his two cents on the how’s of proposing which were my favorite scenes!lI really enjoyed this story and highly recommend it.
I recieved a complimentary copy from the author. This is my honest unbiased opinion
I loved this book. Phoebe only wants to marry for love. The Cold Duke is not concerned about love. He has a dark and mysterious reputation to keep up. Phoebe is unlike any other female he has met before. I enjoyed the interaction between them as Phoebe goes on a mission to find the perfect wife for the Duke. Sometimes, love can be found in the most unexpected way!
A story that will entrainment you until the end.
Surprises…a voyage inside themselves until to find love…
Cold duty or lovable and caring family?
A book for all that love sweet romance.
Morgan, the Duke of St. Albans, is aware of his reputation as The Cold Duke so when he turns around after purchasing a horse from its abusive owner he noticed Lady Phoebe across the street smiling at him, she’s just witnessed his actions. Lady Phoebe is quite amazed “the Cold Duke” actually has a heart and she flirts with him. Morgan had decided this year it was time to find him a wife and Lady Phoebe has him quite intrigued, she can’t believe he can actually tell her from her twin sister. Morgan has no problem with being feared, he was raise to keep his emotions in check. He realizes finding a mate is not all business and social standing when he allows Phoebe into his life. What happens now that he’s let his mask of coldness dissipate and he opens his heart to Phoebe? I loved ready how the “Cold Duke” transformed every time he was around Phoebe, their flirty little smiles, and the warmth they shared was enchanting. This is my honest opinions after I voluntarily read a copy of this book that was provided to me with no requirements for a review.
Lady Phoebe wants to marry for love. Morgan has never known much love, so he doesn’t see the importance of love in marriage. When they meet, they are immediately drawn to each other. They become friends. They have fun and enjoy being together. As they spend time together, Phoebe comes to love Morgan. Morgan likes Phoebe and thinks she is a good choice for his wife. When he suggests that they marry, Phoebe asks him one question, ‘Do you love me?’ Unless and until he can say yes, she will continue to say no.
For the Love of the Duke is a happy story, full of humor and romance. The characters are wonderful. Phoebe is headstrong, full of life, and determined to make a love match. Morgan is staid and serious, cold and aloof, but not with Phoebe. The Pomeroy family fascinates Morgan with their warmth and welcome. Henry adds his wisdom and humor to the story when he offers Morgan romance advice. The result of his advice is my favorite scene, the traditional Pomeroy family marriage proposal. I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend it.
This one came at the right time in needing to take a trip. It just so happened to be one that went back in time with romance at its rawest. When there was seasons for a girl but sometimes it took more than one. Being one that could Lady Phoebe is holding out for love. Not all could do that so this one was going to be even more exciting. She spies one that could fit that but the talk has him labeled. Morgan the Duke she has spied is of a different opinion what he needs and doesn’t need. Oh he should not of exposed his side that holds his heart haha. After that we get to follow these two and see where they take us. The finesse in which they do take us is part of the richness of this read. As they develop a relationship with us seeing the direction it goes. Funny how one will have their mind set on one thing but love and the heart will flip it in a different tone. so enjoyed the warmth from this one.
Deception is the distorted perception of what is real. For the Love of the Duke proves that first impressions can be deceiving. Hutton lures readers into a tale of false starts, fragile hearts and passionate romance. Phoebe is determined to be fearless. Morgan has no problem with being feared. What happens when the masks come off and their vulnerabilities shine through? A precious look at the power of hope and the beauty of love.
4.5 Stars

She smiled & he smiled, she grinned & he grinned, they are perfect for each other but he believes he doesn’t have a heart. A lovely heart warming story, if you want to read a book that will leave you smiling then this amusing, captivating book does just that. This is the fifth book in the series but easily stands on its own. However I love series & have found the whole series to be highly entertaining, The Earl of Pomeroy & his daughters are a joy, I love the family tradition for proposals & how each & every one has complied even with drool & crumbs! The characters have depth & the pace is good, I read it in an afternoon as was loathe to put it down, I’m being picky but I would have liked it to be longer as I was left wanting more. I look forward to Prudence’s story
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Love this continuation of the Pomeroy family with this one centered around Phoebe and her eventual marriage to Morgan, the Duke of Albans. Phoebe will only marry for love and Morgan has never known what it is like to be loved or to love. The marriage proposal is one of the highlights of this book, it is so well written. There is HEA but the two of them have to come to terms with the real feelings they have for each other. This is a well written book and I would highly recommend it, you will not be disappointed.
I really enjoyed the story of Phoebe and Morgan! The one line that kept catching my eye through out the book was “She grinned, and he grinned back” or instead of grinned, smiled. The grinning in the story hit me the most of showing their enjoyment with each other. It was heartwarming to watch them fall in love without Morgan even realizing what was happening. LOVED the library scene as well! Now to see how Pru gets her HEA! Thank you for the advanced copy. I really loved the story!
