For the Love of Laura Beth was a great 5 star read and book four in the A Chicago Christmas series. What an emotional read, I was pulled right in from the beginning.
Laura and Joe have grown up together, they go from friends to dating in high school. When Joe’s family suffers a loss Laura is there to support him and his family.
I twist of fate occurs and Joe ends up having to go to war. In a rush Joe and Laura get married before he gets deployed. Laura ends up living with Joe’s family due to their choices and a wonderful surprise. When Joe returns another twist of fate will test everything these two have.
Can they make their marriage work? Will they be able to make it through the hard times intact?
I loved all of the characters in this book. Both Laura and Joe were very strong with everything that was thrown at them. My emotions were all over the place. Laura was strong and had some great courage. Joe was great as well, he was very brave and was a great support for Laura. Aubrey Wynne has done a great job with this historical read, she pulls you right in with her writing. A must read for sure.
For the love of Laura Beth is an emotional read. It takes place in the past, during war, and these two go through a lot during the book, not just the struggles of war. Through it all, their love for one another is strong and sturdy. It was beautiful and sometimes sad. I cried and my heart broke for them. It ends with a well earned happy ever after.

This is my first read by this author and I am in love..This book touched every emotion and the flow of the words were simply perfection. The only negative I have about this book was that it ended, I could have read this story for so many more pages. So I will absolutely be checking out everything else available. It only took a couple pages for me to fall completely for these characters…My heart broke when he received the letter and can’t imagine how he felt knowing he had to tell his girl, and then I try to imagine how she felt when she found out he was leaving.
I cried more than once while reading this story and just love how this author made me feel like I was living in 1952 and everything just felt so real and I’m sure that this story would hit hard many that lived through and experienced these exact times. I was a complete mess throughout.
I can’t recommend this story enough it’s an awesome story written perfectly!
For the Love of Laura Beth (A Chicago Christmas Book 4) by Aubrey Wynne maybe a quick red but it is a beautiful and compelling story that packs a punch. It is a bit of an emotional tale of two people madly in love but separated by war. But war isn’t the only fight this couple have to deal with. It is a well written and flows nicely and the characters are wonderfully woven in to real life people.
Laura Beth and Joey face many challenges in their journey both together and alone but the biggest one yet may leave them shattered beyond repair.

This is my first read of anything by this author and she has really impressed me with her vivid storytelling. I will absolutely be looking forward to reading more from her in the future. I loved reading about Laura Beth and Joe – I was so wrapped up in their story, the highs and the lows. I think because I was so invested in them I found it really emotional in parts, I was desperate for them to get their happily ever after. I love historical romance stories but I haven’t read one with a war-time setting so it was really interesting to read and I had a hard time putting it down.
A moving and emotional read that I highly recommend!
For the Love of Laura Beth is book four in the Chicago Christmas series by Aubrey Wynne. What an emotionally charged story. Laura Beth and Joe face so many obstacles that threaten stand in their way of happiness, but they do not let this deter them. Their soul deep love, courage, determination and endurance is commendable and so sweet to read about. This story was also a heartbreaking, and had me sobbing my eyes out. It touched me in a deeply memorable way. I felt like I was experiencing their lives with them, as I was so emotionally invested on their happiness.
The struggles were relentless and debilitating, but never once did they give up. Never once did they throw in the towel. Never once did they leave each others side. A true love story. One of the very finest I have read and one that left me breathless. 5 stars.
For The Love of Laura Beth by Aubrey Wynne is the fourth book in the A Chicago Christmas series. This book is highly emotional and do everything it can to tug at your heat strings.
Marriage is hard enough for anyone to navigate. But for Laura Beth and her husband Joe they have to overcome so much that at times it seems utterly impossible. But they haven’t given up fighting yet for the love that once seemed so strong. Will they be able to come out the other side of it?
You cannot help but root for these two. They seem to have gone through so much that you want good things to happen for them. The journey they go on throughout this book is heart breaking but also heartwarming. You can see how much they love each other and you can see how hard they work to make things right.
I always enjoy this authors writing style but this book definitely caught my attention more than any previous. This is a book well worth reading.
This beautiful tale was so honest and charged with emotion that I felt like I was walking with the characters through the pages. Although short in length, the story is rich in detail and fully developed. The author does a beautiful job with these characters and providing them with depth and realism. I felt this book stood on its own well as I had not read any other book in this series prior to this one. But I will now gladly go back and read the other books in the series. A short and wonderful read!
A beautifully written story about perseverance and love. Joe and Laura Beth McCall have a love that can survive the ages. Or can it? Facing many challenges alone and together they have made it through but the biggest one is yet to come. Life is a challenge and sometimes so is love. Don’t miss their beautiful and compelling story about life, and love’s challenge. Also, don’t miss Aubrey’s author’s note at the end of the story, a sweet telling of her inspiration for this story.

For the Love of Laura Beth is the fourth book in A Chicago Christmas Series by Aubrey Wynne. This is a wonderful, moving historical romance, set in and around the Korean War. This “Christmas story’ is woven around friendship, family bonds, sacrifice, resilience, strength, determination, overcoming obstacles, love, and drama.
I loved the way each chapter starts with an inspirational quote, as this added to the whole ‘feel’ of the story.
A very emotional, well written and thought-provoking read. The characters really made the story for me. It was entirely realistic, relatable, and believable- because Ms. Wynne has a talent for weaving (real) historical elements into her stories and bringing everything ‘to life’!
Looking forward to reading more of Ms. Wynne’s work.
Thank you, Ms. Wynne.
This is a heartwarming and heartbreaking Christmas story that will bring you hope. This is a story about Laura Beth and Joey. They thought they had the future figured out until the Korean War threw a wrench into it. What they didn’t realize is the struggle after Joey comes home. Their story is emotional and warming at the same time. They are well thought out characters that are strong and made the story for me. I highly recommend this book.
For the Love of Laura Beth #4 – I absolutely love Ms. Wynne’s books and this is my favorite of the ones I have read. Life before, during and after the Korean War, and the lives of the families of the bride and groom living and suffering through this period of time. The storylines are interesting, while the characters just tug at your heart and you want to know what happens next. There is sadness, joy and a gamut of emotions that keep you from putting the book down. The vivid descriptions let you be there with all the characters and the events. Even everyday life isn’t boring. There’s no profanity, explicit sex or violence, but a great understanding of what everyone faces and faced.
This is not a book to speed read but to savor each page. I couldn’t stop reading. I contacted the author to review her books and receive this book through Booksprout. 5*
Dante’s Gift – I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Well written with a conversational style, this interesting story blended the past with the present creating a heartwarming, loving feeling. The characters are funny, likable and realistic, along with their dialog. The storylines meshed together immersing the reader and too quickly the end appeared. A quickly read, relaxing book. Clean with no profanity. Needs minor editing. 4*
Saving Grace – This is my first read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Well written and intriguing, a good historical background well blended with the present immerses the reader deep into the pages. There’s a touch of magic bringing a fantasy element to the story, which adds a richness to an already lovely story. The parallels between Chloe and Grace are similar even though there’s 300 years between them; prejudice and hatred still exist. Korinna’s story and her part in this story adds to the magic. Even with the dark, the light shines through and too soon the story is finished. Clean with no profanity. Needs minor editing. 4*

The story For the Love of Laura Beth (A Chicago Christmas Book 4) by Aubrey Wynne is a book that I loved reading. It is a story that had me misty-eyed at times and also with a smile on my face. There are heartbreaking as well as heartwarming moments. The story takes you on an emotional ride that doesn’t stop until you have read the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Laura Beth Walters and Joe McCall. These two have been best friends and that has blossomed into love. They have a bond that everyone who falls in love wants to have. They are devoted to each other. The Korean War drastically changes their wedding plans. They then must bear the separation. When Joe returns home their marriage is tested by tragedy. Laura Beth has always been a compassionate and strong woman. The type to always help those when they needed it, picking them up when they were down. Joe is determined that he will now be the one she can lean on. This is a story about family, love, and trials. I grew to love the characters of Laura Beth and Joe with each chapter that I read. There are additional characters that are introduced, and I enjoyed reading about the part that they play in the story and also their interactions with Laura Beth and Joe. This is a wonderful book that I would highly recommend reading.
Wow. Life had to be hard in the days when people were drafted and there was no electronic devices. It would take days, weeks, and sometimes months for letters to get to their destination, and by then the news was old news. The author’s writing seemed very genuine and true to the core.
I truly believe that when you find true love, you would do anything for it. Love is exactly what this story is about – patience, strength, endurances, and support. Too many people give up with the first storm comes along the way. What they don’t realize is when you weather the storm together, you end up so much stronger. I adored this novel and would highly recommend it.
Wow! For The Love Of Laura Beth by Aubrey Wynne may be a fairly quick read, don’t let the size of the book fool you. Ms. Wynne has given us a book that is a well-written, smooth read. It’ll also take you for a ride on an emotional rollercoaster. Laura Beth and Joey’s story takes place during the Korean War and is full of drama, bits of humor and is a clean read, appropriate for any age. Kudos to Ms. Wynne for the phenomenal characters. For The Love Of Laura Beth grabbed me at page 1 and had me glued to my Kindle until the end. This is a complete story, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This was a fabulous historical novella with the richness of a full-length story. The author did a fantastic job of creating developed characters and a complex plot within a shorter word count. It’s definitely one of the better novellas I’ve read in some time. As per usual in a shorter story, it moves quickly, but without sacrificing any substance. It’s not often that I read 20th century historical fiction with a 1950’s timeline and I really enjoyed that detail along with its references to the Korean War, soda shoppes, and the antiquated roles of wives. The author also showed how those roles were on the cusp of change. Overall, it was a sweet romance that balanced the love, joy, grief, and hope of marriage and family. Very nicely done.
This beautifully written, emotive romance is set in the fifties. I was deeply touched and found myself wanting to reach out and hug Laura Beth and her extended family. Having grown up in the fifties I felt that the author perfectly captured the ambiance and culture of the era. Even as a teenager, Laura Beth had strength and depth of character not commonly found in young people Although she has loved Joey from grade school, his family became her’s once they became engaged. Caring for Joey’s family in the way she would care for her own parents, makes one admire and respect the young woman. She has seen them through everything, including sickness, death, depression and even a soldier’s PTSD. However, when her own loss cut her off at the knees, it took her whole family to rally round to break through her shell of grief. This is a well-written, inspirational and worthwhile book, one that leaves the reader tender and grateful for the power of love and family. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. A forever love that is tested to the max.
Laura Beth has loved Joey since she was six. It only took Joey another 10 years to realize she was his forever love.
Even though For the Love of Laura Beth is a short read (only 119 pages), it packs an emotional punch. I started it and finished it in one sitting. In fact, this is one of those books that I wish were longer and a bit more detailed. Never the less, Aubrey Wynne did a great job with this poignant love story. It was well written and well paced. I enjoyed the detailed glimpse into a bygone era of innocence and blended families. In addition to the twists and turns of Laura Beth and Joey’s love story, this book addressed the horrors of war as well as the emotional toll when a soldier comes home. It also is realistic about the struggles of life, even within a loving relationship.
All in all, I loved this book.
Content alert: There are no vulgarities, but there is a little bit of passionate kissing a very light petting.
