From USA Today Bestselling Author, A.M. Hargrove, comes a New Adult, Single Dad, Sexy, Stand Alone Romance
Single Dad, Beckley Bridges, is sexy as hell.
No, really, he’s the hottest thing since the sun was created.
Honest to God, crack an egg on him and the thing will sizzle.
So what’s the problem?
He’s also a gigantic jerk.
I hate the bastard.
I try to avoid him at all costs.
But for some …
I try to avoid him at all costs.
But for some reason, everywhere I go he seems to show up.
Only the real issue is his daughter, English.
She’s an adorable quirky first-grader who’s the sweetest thing since iced tea.
And she’s one of my students but also the love of his life.
So I have to deal with him on a professional level.
It’s not easy.
On a scale of easy to hard, dealing with Beckley Bridges is like nails screeching across a blackboard.
But when English’s mother tries to gain custody after abandoning her on Beckley’s doorstep as an infant, he’ll do anything possible to keep her under his roof.
That’s how he ends up propositioning me.
And crazy as it sounds?
I find myself considering it.
*This is a full-length, stand-alone, novel, with no cliffhangers, and an HEA. It contains mature content and is not suitable for younger readers.

For the Love of English is my first AM Hargrove independent novel. I have read many of her co-authored novels, and I have to say this book is just as great as the others I’ve read. AM Hargrove has a fan for life in me.
I want to say that For the Love of English is a lighthearted read, and it is for the most part, but it also has a very serious side to it. What made me laugh the most during this read was English herself. She was the most adorable 6 year old I have ever read about. But there is very much an adult side to this story, and I am not just talking about the sexual side to these characters. I think the story should an accurate account of what a single parent goes through when faced with the situation of possibly losing their child.
This story is told in 3 different parts, which to be honest I didn’t understand why it was written like that until I read the story and realized it was a great way to tell this story. Everything flowed well and the pace of the story was perfect. I would classify this as an enemies to lovers themed story, because Sheridan really can’t stand Beck right from the start. To say their first meeting was a tense one, is an understatement. I thought this storyline was interesting and captivating. It kept my attention all the way through. I found it different from anything else I have read lately and to me that was totally refreshing. This book seemed a little on the longer side, but I never felt the story dragged. The author gives us a lot in this story but does it in a way that doesn’t weigh or slow the story down.
In this book we meet Beck, Sheridan and English. Beck is a twenty five year old single father to English. At 19, a woman who he had a drunken night with, suddenly drops off English on his front porch and leaves a note and papers and then disappears. Faced with this new situation, Beck faces it head on and is determined to be the best father any man could be. And let me tell you his devotion to his daughter was so heartwarming, I couldn’t help falling in love with this man. Sheridan is a 22 year old woman just starting her first job as a teacher after graduating college. It turns out that English is in Sheridan’s class. These three characters have a rocky start but it was great watching them blossom into something more. Out of the blue, English’s biological mom comes back into the picture and starts a turbulent ride for custody of English. Beck and Sheridan face this head on, but the road is a bumpy one. they face a lot of ups and downs. Will these two be able to weather the storm together? Can they work together and become the family they are meant to be?? Read this story to find out those answers.
We also meet some other characters in this story, who are pivotal in this book. Sheridan’s BFF Michelle and Beck’s parents were vital to this story. I loved all three of these characters. My only negative is we also meet Oliver (kind of) who is dating Michelle, and the author kind of eludes to things during the story and I felt that their story was never really finished. I was left with some questions that I would’ve liked answered. Oh Well!!! It didn’t take away my full enjoyment of this book.
I would definitely recommend this book. If you love a book with an adorable 6 year old girl that will make you laugh and melt your heart, then this is the story to read!! Give it a try, I don’t think you’ll be sorry.
Oh Wow I really enjoyed this book so much,I just couldn’t put it down.
It totally captured my heart.
Beck is a young single father to an adorable little girl English,he is a bit broody and standoffish but it added to his appeal.
Sheridan is English’s teacher in school and she is new,its her first teaching job and she makes an immediate connection with English. So it is enevitable she meets Beck and there is an attraction there…but they don’t get off on the right foot and they act like they hate eachother….But Love and hate is a fine line and well lets just say feelings evolve into something they both don’t anticipate.
OMG There is so much content in this story I can’t even begin to explain,But it is just so good it had me in a whirlwind of emotions.
I was frustrated and anxious one minute then laughing or crying the next.
It is also super sexy Beck is gorgeous and the way he loves Sheridan had my heart swooning, they were so perfect together.
I am definitely going to read more of A.M.Hargrove’s books I loved her writing and the attention to detail in her words.
I adored it and Highly recommend it .
5 magnificent stars
Oh, my!
I rarely have laughing fits while reading, but that changed with this book.
English’s antics are just so hilarious. Her precociousness and smart-ass behavior made me laugh until I was howling with laughter … She. Is. Priceless!
And Beck and Sheridan, along with Beck’s parents, are great characters as well. Their story is engaging, captivating from the first page. It’s twisted, emotional, and sometimes resembles a crime story rather than a romance. It’s a page-turner par excellence, and I was so, so sad when the book ended!
A perfect read for those who love romance, drama, suspense, and laughter all rolled into one. I devoured this story and did not want it to end. The author packed a lot into this page turner and I loved every minute. The characters are wonderful and you will love each and every one. Add this to your list because it is one you want to read.
I met Beck, Sheridan and English in A Very English Christmas which was featured in the Jolly in July anthology and absolutely had to read their story. This was my first A.M. Hargrove book and I am hooked; I am so happy to have discovered her stories.
Beck and Sheridan’s journey was amazing and I loved seeing Sheridan discover her confidence. The fierce love she has for English was heartwarming to witness. The story was phenomenal with so many feels; amazing!
I borrowed this book from Prime Reading. I have never read this author before, but I liked the blurb and decided to check it out.
English is a little girl. Her father is dealing with a custody battle and ends up feeling like he needs a wife. Enter Sheridan, English’s teacher. Of course, there are struggles and slip ups and they both realize that they have possibly made a mistake a few times along the way, but both are mainly concerned with English.
The one thing I want to say about this book that shoves it into the 5 star range, in my opinion, is the light it shines on the court system in custody battles. Courts often favor the mother regardless of what the mother’s own history is and don’t often look at how good the father would be for the child instead. It’s truly a shame that so many great dads get such limited time with their children because of an outdated viewpoint. I hope that books like this will open some eyes to the situation. We need judges who can look at the whole picture and each parent’s history and relationship with the children involved before they make a decision.
2016published, both-pov, contemporary, easy-to-read, erotic, her-pov, his-pov, m-f-romance, plot, pov, read, romance, sex, single dad, steamy, unforgettable
I don’t think this book deserves any star, but rainbow and not 5 but 1000s of them.
I am not in books with new adults, I don’t know why, but I don’t like them.
Although, this one was a very good surprise. Good characters, lovable kid, good support characters, good story, good plot and the result is a wonderful book.
I couldn’t stop reading, most of the book we are inside her mind, she is telling the story and the way she fell in love with English is incredible. I fell in love with English and her funny, smart mouth, ok, I love kids, and I would love English, I would love to know Sheridan and be part of her life.
Some chapters are narrated by him and it is interesting to know his point of view, to understand his reasons, and how much he could sacrifice for his daughter, it was amazing to read how he grew up, how he could face every step. He was rude and monosyllabic, but he learns to listen to her. Oh, his parents, what a wonderful and amazing couple.
As every romance book, when everything is fine, something happens and they fight and separate to find out they are in love. And I knew this would happen and the reason would be her parent’s death and her trauma. I like that she keeps strong and wait until he looked for her.
And the sex scenes are hot, steamy, erotic…
Congratulations, I am under the rainbow reading this book.
A heartwarming story about two people who can’t seem to stand each other but with some life encountering changes, they end up falling for each other every step of the way like they never expected. I loved the chemistry and attraction between Sheridan and Beckley. Definitely worth the readI loving the single dad stories 🙂
Beck has been a single dad from a young age and had to take care of English when her mother dropped her off on his doorstep. When he meets Sheridan, it doesn’t go as planned and she thinks he is an arrogant father but the more time they seem to spend with each other, her thoughts about him seem to change. And when Beck does her a proposition, nothing will ever be the same again…
This took me a crazy amount of time to read, 16 days, which throws me off. I usually read a book in a day or two.
The beginning was strong, English and the letter V in class had me dying.
The middle was slow, super slow.
Then the ending that was being worked up to throughout the whole book hit and ended in the blink of an eye, it felt really rushed.
English made the whole story!
All in all I enjoyed this book enough, I will for sure read newer work by this author.
It’s no secret I always enjoy a story with kids and single parents and For The Love Of English is not an exception.
This was my first A. M. Hargrove book and it won’t be the only one I read. It grabbed me from the very beginning and I couldn’t put it down until the end.
Beck is a really hot and caring single dad,Sheridan is a sweet first grader teacher, their lives interwine thanks to our Hero’s cute 6 years old daughter.
This was an addictive and heartwarming story. It made me smile, swoon, blush (thanks to those smokin’ sexy scenes) and fall in love right away with the characters.
For the Love of English is such an awesome book and I didn’t want to put it down and I didn’t, I read this baby in one sitting. There was drama and an arrogant hero, and super sweet heroine and a cuteness overload of a 6 year old who is obsessed with Frozen, love it.
English she was sooo dam cute and I loved the way A.M Hargrove wrote her character, the funny things she would say and my favourite part was, she always wanted to be happy and be under her rainbow, she was such a special little character that I will never forget.
Beck he was such an interesting character you really didn’t know what was going on in his head half the time and left him quite mysterious which was really good. I loved Beck and what he did for his little girl and was the sweetest guy when he wanted to be.
I loved that Sheridan was such a loving and caring character even though she had forgotten what it was liked to be really loved she kept going and found her love in teaching. She was strong and you couldn’t not love her passion especially when it came to English.
Absolutely fantastic book, if you’re looking for something you can’t put down, the storyline was page turning; the relationship between the single dad and his daughter was so special. You get some drama and is quite an emotional heart warming book then you need to get this one. 5 stars for this book
4.5 Stars
I love A.M. Hargrove’s books. I’ve read a few of hers already and after I’ve read the blurb of this one I knew I had to get my hands on it. And let me tell you, I did not get disappointed.
The Story:
Sheridan is English’s teacher and when she gets to know her student’s dad, she can’t believe what an absolute jackass he is to her while he’s so lovely to his daughter. Beckley Bridges raised his daughter English alone with the help from his parents since she got dropped in front of his doorstep while she was still a baby, left there in a little box with only a note from her birth mother. English is Becks whole life and he is devastated when he learns that her mother suddenly wants to be a part in her life again. This wouldn’t be so bad when she had good intentions but something about this woman just rubs him the wrong way. Beck would do anything to keep his daughter safe and when he drops a question at Sheridan about something every woman wants to hear from the man they love the most, she can’t believe her ears because this guy was anything but a jerk to her in the past. Why would she even consider what he asks?
Thoughts:
I really enjoyed this story a lot even though it could have been a bit shortened – just by a chapter or two. It still had a good reading flow and I devoured it in almost one go. I would absolutely love to read about the characters’ lives again in one of this author’s next books.
I liked the characters though the sudden mention of marriage did not seem to be a big problem to neither Beck nor Sheridan, which bothered me a bit. I really liked that Beck wasn’t an easy guy in the beginning though he changed rather quickly in a short time. I mean, they didn’t even knew each other that well and I thought it was strange for him to just spit it out like that and although she was not head over heels at first it still seemed to me like it wasn’t too much of a problem in the end for her. I personally think it’s a huge deal and I wish there was a bit more going on here. I also found it rather strange that Beck had no other female friends or even female company in the last few years in his life that he could have considered asking.
It was refreshing that not everything was easy in this story but I found that the marriage thing hap-pened too quickly and that the characters fell really fast for each other – even though a few weeks passed but we didn’t really get to enjoy the small gestures that had them warm up to each other, especially because she didn’t like him in the beginning due to his rudeness. Even though he was good looking I didn’t like that they had the hots for each other so soon. I would have hoped for some more hate or resent while going into the marriage and not instantly getting it on. Especially because it felt so weird for me that they kissed and had sex but never talked about anything this marriage would bring with it, they just jumped into it without thinking it through and I wish there was more awkwardness before they were intimate. I didn’t really care for English and I never understood how she could call Sheridan Mommy right away.
But enough of my ramblings, I still enjoyed the story a lot.
I am absolutely under the rainbow with the story.
Beck gets the surprise of his life when he discovers a sweet little baby was left on his parents doorstep, only to discover it was his daughter. Fast forward six years and his sweet, adorable, smart daughter English is starting kindergarten.
Her teacher, Sheridan, is not Beck’s biggest fan, but he needs her more than ever. They end up bonding and becoming friends over their shared love of English.
This story was sweet, it was hot, it made me cry, and it made me laugh. English absolutely stole the story. How can you not love such an amazing little girl. All the characters were well written and I found easy to connect with. I really felt every emotion right along with them, especially Sheridan. Beck started off as the biggest ass, but once you got to know more about his story and after he really started connecting with Sheridan it was so hard not to love him.
A fantastic read by A.M. Hargrove with a little drama, some laughs and some sexiness.
This is the first book I read by AM Hargrove and I am really happy to give a book of hers a try. The first thing that popped up to me was the blurb. People who know me know that I have a weakness for single parents. Especially single dads convince me to one-click a certain book. I am happy that I read this book.
This book is about Beckley and his 6 yours old daughter English, and Sheridan who is English’s teacher. When Beck and Sher first meet during parent-teacher conference, he was such an asshole towards her. I really wanted to smack him for talking and acting so rude. Beck is a very broody alpha male that doesn’t talk much. Sheridan was an awesome character, she turned out to be a bit different than you first expected her to be. Then English’s mom, who abandoned her when she was just a baby, comes back for custody. Beck needs to find himself a wife to make sure that doesn’t happen. Who better than English’s teacher Sheridan, who English can’t stop talking about.
I absolutely LOVED English; she was so cute, sweet and just AWESOME! I also loved her relationship with her dad and with Sher. What I also loved is that Sheridan didn’t take any crap from Beck. She was a strong and independent woman with a very kind heart. Also I couldn’t stay mad at Beck because he was just super swoonworthy whenever he was with English. I also loved that he was a dirty-talker, especially in the bedroom. It was so HOT, and I couldn’t get enough.
There was no unnecessary drama, and the pace of the story was PERFECT. There was no rushing through it, the author took her time to really tell the story in the perfect way. As for her writing, it was very easy to follow and I could really connected with it. I wouldn’t mind a sequel or even a novella about the authors because I really enjoyed reading about them.
Oh my God, I loved English that little girl was something else, “English adds , “I don’t have a baby brother. Only my daddy. I’m sure his ***s is big, though, because my daddy is big.” I loved Beck and his girl, those two made for some interesting times:
Her eyes flick down and then back up. ”Well, they’re going to know you’re a horny b*****d. That’s for sure.”
I glance down and see my erection clearly outlined on the front of my pants. “Yeah, maybe commando wasn’t a good idea in these pants. Too lightweight.”
I enjoyed the hell out of this book!
I’ve been reading books from this author and I was left wanting more, so what better way than to start reading her previous releases.
Since reading For The Love of Easton that I had this intense curiosity to know more about this family and what better way than read this book.
A.M. Hargrove is brilliant behind a pen. Her writing is sweet and intense, full of feelings and emotions.
Just give her a chance and see for yourself.
For The Love of English is the first book from the For the Love of series and explores the lives of Beckley and Sheridan.
Beck is a single dad that has his life revolving around his precious daughter.
He’s hot as hell and he knows it.
Live was good until the day his ex tried to gain custody of his daughter.
What will he do?
Sheridan is a teacher and a sweet woman.
But don’t mistake her sweetness with weakness… Oh no. She’s feisty and always speaks what’s on her mind…
When Beck crosses her path she can’t stand him. He’s cocky and has the ability to ridle her.
When he asks her to marry him…
Oh, be still my heart… This book… Oh lord, this book.
Superb plot, very well written, super engaging, and hot as hell.
The characters worked perfectly with each other and you can feel the love they shared.
Each chapter was even more addictive than the latest and I couldn’t stop reading it.
I thought that since I’ve already the next book from this series that this book wasn’t going to spike my curiosity but I was so wrong. This book was perfect and I adored every single second of it.
English is so freaking cute and how not to love her.
Overall, it was another amazing book that I didn’t want it to end.
Now let’s get to the next one.
Great book A.M. so so good.
