“Apollo smiled, though it was marred by the sadness twisting through his chest. Dante would never want to admit it, but he cared deeply for people, even as he hid it behind layer after layer of foul attitude and an even fouler mouth. It was only around Apollo that Dante cast the worst of it aside, but even then, there was a divide between Apollo and the inner Dante. That wall kept Apollo at bay, … bay, always careful of what he would say or do, unsure if he should tread too far. He craved to see beyond that wall, to see the things Dante ferreted away from the light of day.”
It’s been weeks since tumultuous events led Dante and Apollo into the depths of the jungle. And the two men suddenly have time on their hands.
Life hasn’t been kind to Apollo. He lost his parents at a young age, and his twin sister the year before. All he has left are his packmates and his best friend, Dante. He’s done his best to hide his secret yearning for his best friend but Apollo struggles to keep himself in check as he watches Dante drift away from him.
Dante can’t even think about what might exist between him and Apollo. Terrified of what a relationship between them would mean. Dante desperately hides from the passion of his heart, risking his own misery and that of the only man he’s ever loved.
When the two men are thrown together on a special assignment, a threat to their lives is like a thunderbolt to their hearts and brings everything to a boil. Struggling to come to terms with their emotions, their pasts, and what the future holds, Apollo and Dante have no choice but to try to make peace with one another if they’re ever going to find happiness. But can they succeed?

I really enjoyed this book. Dante and Apollo have been best friends since they were little. Now they both want more than friendship but are afraid to take the next step.
All it takes is that first step! Dante and Apollo secretly crush on each other, or they think it’s a secret. Apollo has suffered loss of loved ones, most recently his twin Artemis. Dante hides his inner nature behind a tough mask. Who will be brave enough to take that first step? Samuel sends Dante on a mission and unexpectedly Apollo follows. They suffer a major disaster which serves as a catalyst going forward. Do they find their brains? Do they listen to their hearts? Do they communicate? What does Samuel say? Good story! Many questions answered. I think readers just want peace for the Grove, eh? Nicely done. I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Friends to lovers. Finally!
What a great addition to the Family Secrets series. I have been waiting for this book. I was not disappointed. I loved it! All our old friends are back. Although there is danger, this is a book of introspection. Two men will learn that sometimes the risks you have to take are the ones that will make you the happiest.
This is Apollo and Dante’s story. After his parents are killed, Apollo and his twin sister are raised by the pack. When she is killed, Apollo is in despair, until his best friend pulls him through. Apollo needs Dante like he needs air, but has to wait til Dante is ready. Dante is another stray taken in by the pack. Needing to fit in, he becomes his Alpha’s third hand. He has wanted Apollo since they met, but feels he doesn’t deserve to be loved. A chance brush with death has them both re-evaluating their feelings. Yes, they will have sex, but you will have to wait for it. Ooh, and who thought kissing could be so downright hot! They do get their HEA. They also set the scene for the next book. You will love this book!
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
Dante and Apollo captivated me right from the start, they started out as childhood friends and became lovers as adults! The storyline was well written and the wonderfully written characters kept me totally glued to my kindle until the turn of the very last page!
Somewhat a side story in the series of the Carpenter’s Family, here we (finally) see if Apollo, quiet but not taciturn, and Dante, all around troublemaker (maybe), might be more than best friends. With a bit of adventure hinting at something not quite over for Mikael and Dean (who never once are actually seen, in at least in this piece of this story) and a lot of introspective exploring for both these characters, this is more of an emotional adventure than a physical exploration – although there is quite a bit of the latter, at a personal level, also.
It was so encouraging to see Apollo stand up for himself to Samuel and go with Dante! Kudos! I hated that Samuel made Dante look bad to the packs with all his secret spying and the aftermath. It made Dante look reckless to everyone, while Samuel pulled the strings quietly in the background and without backlash to him! Grrr… Poor Dante is left to be the fall guy while Samuel stands there with clean hands! Enraged!! Dante’s internal dialogue and his self sacrificing nature gutted me to the core. My heart cried for him. Finally, love overcomes fear and leads to a hea. These angsty guys had me a wreck hoping someone would make a move. See how it all goes down. Finally together-so happy for Apollo and Dante!!
For The Love of a Friend: Dante and Apollo by Noah Harris is a friends to lovers m/m romance. Dante and Apollo are very interesting characters- their story entertains, intrigues and satisfies. There is angst/drama, there is action, there is suspense… but theres also sweetness and heat. Overall it’s a fantastic read.
