I was living in darkness. Cold and alone, I was gripped by the agony of loss and grieving for an existence I no longer believed I could have. Then he appeared in my life and I thought that maybe, just maybe, I’d been gifted with another chance at happiness. That I might be allowed the privilege of loving and caring for another man. That I could have my very own boy… new beginning is more than Malcolm ever dared wish for.
Now that Malcolm has claimed Seth as his boy, he’s determined to be the perfect Daddy for the man he adores. Whatever his boy needs, he’ll make sure he gets it. But more than that, he’s sworn in his heart to protect him with his life. Seth’s bastard of a father and the twisted church that abused his boy had better stay away from them—or else.
Seth has discovered comfort and safety in his Daddy’s arms.
Finally, Seth accepts that a life filled with joy is possible. He believes that love is what matters more than anything and that he has nothing to be ashamed of. However, the demons of his past still taunt him, lurking in the shadows of his mind where they try and snatch away his happiness. Sometimes it seems as if his lingering fears will never be vanquished.
And sometimes, being afraid is a warning that should be heeded…
Note: For the Love of a Boy is the continuation of Malcolm and Seth’s journey of love, redemption and healing in the Father series trilogy. The first book, In the Name of the Father, should be read prior to this one. However, you can be assured that none of the books in the Father series end on a cliffhanger and that this age gap, Daddy/boy series with lots of hurt/comfort contains a sweet forever after.
Father Series reading order:

The strength of their love, the Daddy/ boy dynamic, can overcome anything.
OMG, what a great second book in the Father series! I was blown away. I have loved Malcolm and Seth since I first read about them; eagerly awaiting this continuation of their story. Watching their Daddy/ boy dynamic flourish, their love strengthen, is thrilling. Malcolm is so sensitive to Seth’s needs, adapting to ensure he is safe, loved, and growing into the man he is meant to be. Did you know a teddy bear is a support animal? You will love this book as much as I do! If you haven’t read In The Name of The Farther, read it. It will show you how Seth & Malcolm met. It is also a great book.
This book continues Malcolm and Seth’s story. Still haunted by the past abuse done by his father & his “Church”, Seth is slowly recovering. A therapist is helping him come to grips with what happened, so he can move forward. Seth embraces life, eager to please his Daddy. Malcolm just wants what’s best for his boy. And he will do anything to protect him. The emotional impact of their first Christmas will have you tearing up. Trigger points: There is a police investigation, and reference to past emotional & physical abuse. There is also love, honesty, trust, compassion, and passion. Yes, there is sex. There is HEA. But this story isn’t over. I cannot wait for the next book!
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
Not a saggy middle (an audio review)
Seth is still in his dark place. He might have escaped from his conversion therapy camp, but those memories haunt him. He never can quite get out from under them.
Malcolm wants to help but sometimes finds himself powerless. He can’t lessen Seth’s nightmares. He can’t make Seth feel safe. He can just offer love, support, and protection.
But he knows it might not be enough.
For now, though, he can offer security. And within their Daddy/boy relationship they can both begin to heal. Because Seth wasn’t the only one with a tragic backstory. But together they can forge something beautiful.
Until the day Seth’s past comes calling.
(There’s a trigger warning for on-page violence and that warning needs to be heeded.)
This book brought me hope and, by the end of it, I was ready for this Daddy and boy to get their forever happiness. Which conveniently is coming in the final instalment that I’m off to listen to right now.
And I’ll mention Nick J. Russo who does a great job with this book. I always enjoy his narrations and this book was just another one to rack up as well done.
Oh, my goodness gracious! Morticia Knight keeps up the very fine work she initiated with ‘In the Name of the Father, Book 1’ of the Father series. We find that Malcolm (daddy) and Seth (boy) have solidified their relationship, each filling a need for the other that is so beautifully depicted and described in the books. Seth is still recovering from the severe abuse he suffered as a child in one of the worse churches I’ve ever read about in fiction, and that’s saying something! (The LGBTQ+ community has suffered terribly from the attitudes, opinions, and doctrines of the church. And the toxicity has found its outlet in literature!) Malcolm’s commitment to keeping Seth safe and happy after all he’s endured is wonderfully endearing. But an old evil finds its way back into Seth’s new world and, thank goodness, that terror is beautifully and triumphantly resolved. Nick J. Russo’s performance as perfect as ever. He handles the story with such tenderness and sensitivity. What a joy to hear him read book 2 of this series as well.

Not a standalone. Read book 1 first.
I was given a free arc copy from the author for review.
While I love both the MCs and think they are a great couple and I was looking forward to hearing more about them i found this book uneventful and draggy up until the very end. Considering it only took 4.5 hours to read I wouldn’t of expected that. Disappointing but I really liked the last 20% so I’ll still read book 3 cause I am at the very least still curious about where they end up.
An absolutely heartbreaking hurt/comfort romance, Morticia Knight’s Father series, continues with For the Love of a Boy. The second book in the series ends in a very ‘happily for now’, so don’t despair (as I did), Seth is safe in Malcolm’s loving arms!
Meant to be read in order, you’ll need to start with In the Name of the Father, and be sure you’ve got this one loaded up and ready to go. Even better, get this series in audio and you’ll be able to appreciate Nick J. Russo’s brilliant performance!
I’ve been a huge fan of NJR for years, and his performances are always impressive – but what he brings to Morticia Knight’s Father novels elevates his skills to a new level. This is a beautiful story, and both characters have led amazing lives. The passion Mr. Russo infuses into these emotional scenes is truly heart-wrenching.
A gorgeous story, a stunning audiobook series, Morticia Knight’s Father series is an absolute must!

This is the 2nd book in trilogy. We first met Seth and Malcolm when Seth had run away from home, a father and a church who were sending gay children to a conversion camp.
Malcolms partner/Boy had died and he spent his time drinking away his sorrows. He knew he could never replace him.
In this book, Malcolm is working on Setgs confidence, including sexual. The visit a club with friends and Malcolm teaches Seth how to be a boy. This is a beautiful series about, love, trust, kink and more.
I read the book first and fell in love, the audio is just as good.
A beautiful story with a HEA.
