After the tragic death of his wife, Jasper, the 8th Duke of Bainbridge buried himself away in the dark cold walls of his home, Castle Blackwood. When he’s coaxed out of his self-imposed exile to attend the amusements of the Frost Fair, his life is irrevocably changed by his fateful meeting with Lady Katherine Adamson.
With her tight brown ringlets and silly white-ruffled gowns, Lady Katherine … Katherine Adamson has found her dance card empty for two Seasons. After her father’s passing, Katherine learned the unreliability of men, and is determined to depend on no one, except herself. Until she meets Jasper…
In a desperate bid to avoid a match arranged by her family, Katherine makes the Duke of Bainbridge a shocking proposition — one that he accepts.
Only, as Katherine begins to love Jasper, she finds the arrangement agreed upon is not enough. And Jasper is left to decide if protecting his heart is more important than fighting for Katherine’s love.

I felt for the heroine.
I read more of her books in the series after reading this one. Enjoyable
LUV historical romances.
I give almost any Regency and try, and the author’s trip to the Frost Fair, together with the meet she uses there, was not usual.
I enjoyed the story line. That being said, this author needs a new editor! There were so many comma errors that I kept rereading sentences to make sense of them. It drives me crazy when I read a book with lots of grammar errors, punctuation errors, etc. I won’t read any more of Ms. Caldwell’s books as a result.
This was a very pleasant read. I totally enjoyed the story line as well as the characters. Definitely recommend this as a light, enjoyable read.
I enjoyed the Moxy of the heroine in this book. She often surprised the Duke with her assertiveness, yet she has a very vulnerable side, too.
No regency romance is going to be unpredictable and enjoyable to read. Yes there is the predicted happy ending, but the journey there was fun and the characters likable. I especially liked that the heroine had a sense of her self-worth. It was a fun quick read and everything I would expect from this genre.
it was good enough that I’m interested in reading more by this author but I also think this needs to be gone over by a proofreader.
This book was a good fast read. I especially enjoyed the character’s witty banter and the little bit of heart break in the story. I think it could have been a really great book had it been longer and had more detail.
This was boring skipped through most of it
The story was lost with all the graphic and unrealistic sex. I skipped much of boom trying to find the story line.
Really held my interest.
Loved this book! I ordered more books by this author.
Stopped reading. Same story line over and over. The protagonist never really had a quality that made me like him. I wouldn’t recommend this book.
Pretty typical Regency.
I really appreciate the research put into Christie’s books. It makes them excellent reads. For Love of the Duke is one of the books you read over again
Would enjoy reading more of the authors books.
The characters seem so real I am a romantic and especially enjoy historical romance.
Good story, very enjoyable!!
