The words “For Lila, forever” adorned the front of the envelope in blue ink, the handwriting all too familiar. But it didn’t matter what it said. I didn’t have the heart to open it.We couldn’t be together. Not after everything …Leaving Rose Crossing, Maine was one of the most painful moments of my life—or at least it was until the day I came face-to-face with Thayer Ainsworth again. After a … Ainsworth again.
After a decade of searching, he’s found me, and he wants to know why I quit my housemaid job and left his family’s island estate without so much as a goodbye. But I’m bound by a devastating secret much bigger than the two of us, and telling him the truth has consequences.
Looking into the eyes of the only man I’ve ever loved, I tell him the only thing I’m allowed to: never contact me again. And when he’s gone, I sit down and finally open his letter.
Only it isn’t a letter at all.
And it changes everything.

I’m not going to lie, I was worried when I first jumped into this book. I thought it was going to gut me and make a crying mess throughout the whole thing. I’m ashamed of myself for thinking that. Winter Renshaw wrote an amazing book with characters I fell in love with (with one glaring exception) that I could not put this book down. Not at 2:00 when I know I need to get some sleep, not when I need to leave for a family barbecue, but I just want to get in at least one more chapter. I completely loved Thayer and the man he always was. And I loved Lila, the woman she tried to hide and the woman she truly was. But most of all, I just truly loved this book!!!
Thayer and Lila’s initial romance takes place over the course of a summer on an island owned by Thayer’s grandfather. On summer break from his first year at Yale, Thayer pretty much falls for Lila at first sight. Lila who recently lost her mother, lives on the island, and like her grandparents, works for Thayer’s grandfather. Despite constant reminders of the no fraternization policy between family and “the help”, Thayer and Lila fall in love. When he leaves for school in the fall, he promises to return the following summer. When he returns he is heartbroken to find that Lila and her grandparents have vanished without a trace. He searches tirelessly for ten years before they are reunited and the truth of what went down that summer is finally revealed.
For Lila, Forever is a beautiful, emotional love story with an especially sweet epilogue. Winter Renshaw is a superb storyteller and the writing is great, as always. I don’t particularly like stories that are divided into past and present but in this book it serves to show how deeply committed Thayer is to Lila and his devastation at finding her gone. For Lila, Forever is a great addition to the Winter Renshaw library. 4.5 stars.

Forever love indeed. The book began with a refreshing dynamism. For a few subsequent chapters, while the background was being introduced, the story flattened out a bit but picked up again and held the attention all the way to the end. The characters were well developed, scenes well described, The book is about a forbidden love affair between Lila and Thayer. Many families have secrets but not every one has a patriarchal billionaire bully holding family member in check for fear of being disinherited. Thayer’s manipulative grandfather causes our young lovers to lose 10 years of happiness. Thanks to Thayer’s unrelenting tenacity, he finds Lila and also her secret that started the devastating consequences of a bully’s wrath. Although this is a clean love story, it has interesting and dramatic twists. We see some surprising sacrifices and examples of Thayer’s love for Lila.
This story was good but the past took up a lot of space. You get to see how they fall in love and the tragedy of their separation. The story of Thayer and Lila after they reconnect was hurried and too short. There really wasn’t any chemistry in the reconciliation.

** spoiler alert ** 10 years ago, Lila discovered love, but then had to disappear. 10 years ago, Thayer fell in love with the forbidden, but then she vanished. He is determined to find her. Will Lila get her Happy Ever After? What will Thayer do when he discovers the truth?
I’m a sucker for a Winter Renshaw book and this one was no different. I love how this author gives the background story if there is one. I loved how Thayer knew what he wanted and wasn’t going to let anything stop him from getting it. I didn’t blame Lila for being hesitant, but loved how when it was offered she took that leap. Great read!
Lila and Thayer were warned to stay away from each other. Lila comes to the island to live with her grandparents after her mother dies. Lila is hired to work with Mr. Bertram with one rule, stay away from Mr. Bertram’s grandsons. Thayer spends ever summer on the island bonding with his family with no internet or technology, but everything changes when he see Lila. Thayer is warned to stay away from Lila, but Thayer wants to get to know Lila and maybe so much more. Thayer and Lila share a forbidden love that was never supposed to happen. Lies, deceit, and secrets force and keep Thayer and Lila apart for many years. How will Lila and Thayer react when they see each other again? How will Thayer react when he learns Lila’s secret? Can Lila and Thayer overcome the obstacles in their way to find their happily ever after? For Lila, Forever by Winter Renshaw is a fantastic book full of lies, deceit, secrets, chemistry, and forbidden love. I love Winter Renshaw, and I highly recommend getting For Lila, Forever. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest review.
Old money, lies, deception, control, and heartbreak. This is all contained within the pages of For Lila, Forever. Thayer is controlled by his grandfather’s money and when he falls in love with the care-taker’s grand-daughter, things don’t go as planned for these two. A quick summer romance turns in to so much more for Lila, but she’s forced to move on without Thayer knowing it. He struggles over 10 years trying to find her and when he does, things aren’t as they seem. A heart-felt ending and some-what endearing story between two teenagers just hitting the precipice of adult-hood.
This was an epic love story that spans over 10 years.
Every single page of this book was fantastic..loved the characters and the story was well written and i wont be able to get this book out of my mind for a while.

Thayer is a rich boy born with a silver spoon. Lila is from a single parent household and lives with her grandparents after her mother dies. The two are totally different but young love won’t be denied at the time. Lila leaves the island and town after Thayer goes to college. Thayer could never understand why Lila left his family home. You will feel all the emotions reading this story. I recommend this book.

This book was full of wonderful characters that grabbed my attention with an engaging storyline that had twist and turns that would bring a couple that were meant to be regardless of the obstacle thrown there way.

This story features Lila and Thayer. This is their story that spans ten years and deals with young love, tragedy, lies, deceit and family, good and bad. They had a beautiful young romance that ended far too soon. Ten years later, so many secrets revealed and lives changed.
This is super sweet romance and left me with a few questions. The characters are great and the story line had steady progression. I really liked how this author clearly divided the past and present chapters. It made it much easier to read and understand where I was in their life.
Lila Hilliard is the granddaughter of Ed and June who worked for Bertram Ainsworth. Nothing prepared her for meeting Thayer Ainsworth, Bertram’s grandson, in May 2009 and how much her life would change from that moment.
Thayer Ainsworth knew his grandfather’s rules regarding the “help” but he couldn’t stay away from Lila and they began a secret relationship until he left for school and said he would be back for her.
But life has a funny way of working out and when Thayer returns Lila is gone and no one will tell him anything until a PI finally finds something.
Will Thayer and Lila be able to discover the secrets of the past that have kept them apart and how far will either of them go to either keep the secrets hidden or blow them up?
This book was so amazing from start to finish with a few twists and turns to keep me wondering what was going to happen next.
I loved Lila right from the start. She was innocent and fell completely in love with Thayer and was willing to do whatever it took to be with him, even waiting for him while he went off to school. I was shocked to eventually learn about the past with her family and how that affected everything else that Bertram controlled.
Thayer was great and he knew he had to keep his relationship a secret and away from his grandfather and I don’t think he knew how far his grandpa was willing to go to protect his family. I liked that Thayer never gave up trying to find Lila although it’s a mystery of why Lila won’t say anything but I loved when Thayer first really meets MJ!
There was so much chemistry between Thayer and Lila but they were almost pawns in Bertram’s game and he manipulated his family members into falling into the line that he wanted them to or they faced losing everything. I loved how Westley stood up for Lila and took the fall in order to protect Thayer.
I was so mad at Bertram through out the book and how he played everyone and really had no regard for anyone’s feelings. He wanted things his way and made everyone follow what he said or face losing everything. I was so proud of Thayer at the end and it made me happy that he did what he believed in.
The end was absolutely amazing and I was so happy for what Thayer did for Lila and MJ. My job dropped with what he moved and how much it proved that he loved her so much!!
I can’t wait for more from this author as this one was so incredible!!
Every summer Thayers grandfather makes all of his family come to Rose Crossing Island to spend there summer vacation and Thayer Ainsworth is his grandson so he is there This is his chance to unwind and disconnect from the electronic age One particular summer he is surprised when he meets Layla she is there working with her grandparents He is warned to stay away from her as is Layla with him. The attraction between them is immense and it isn’t long before they are seeing one another but they may think they are keeping their attraction secret but that isn’t so. When others interfere they are torn apart but years later they meet again and Thayer has never forgotten his love. This is a deeply emotional story that draws you in and doesn’t let you go make sure you have a box of tissues handy you will need them

This book started out so good! It kept me hooked and I kept wanting to know what would happen next. I loved Lila and Thayer. They were just so prefect together, even if they had to hide it. I loved learning about the summer they spent together. But then it just started feeling to pushed. I loved that Thayer finally found Lila and found out the truth. I’m glad he confronted his grandfather. The secrets that were kept shocked me. But I still felt like it was incomplete, in a sense. I SERIOUSLY would have liked to know what became of Ashlan. Did Thayer finally tell her off? What about that video she posted? Did he do what he saud said he’d do? I know she was an insignificant part of the story, yet she kept claiming to “love” Thayer and did what she could to stake her claim. Please don’t get me wrong. I hated her. I just feel like we missed something there. I was thankful for the epilogue. It answered some questions that I was curious about. Like I said, I enjoyed this book from the beginning. I just thought the ending was a bit pushed to fast.
This story spans more than a decade. When Lila’s mother dies, she goes to live with her grandparents on a remote island owned by the obscenely wealthy Ainsworth family. Her grandparents are the long-time caretakers of the estate. She immediately catches the eye of the Ainsworth heir, Thayer. The two spend a summer as star crossed lovers but Thayer’s meddlesome grandfather will stop at nothing to keep them apart.
I loved the dynamic between Lila and Thayer. There were enough plot twists and turns to keep me engaged. My only complaint is that the story seemed to wrap up suddenly at the end. Lots of build up and then–boom–its over.
This book is epic! I love how it jumps from the past to present and you get their whole love story.
Thayer and Lila love story is one of those stories that gets stuck in your heart. It’s a book you will compare all other books too. You can’t help but fall head over heels for their epic love and their even sweeter HEA.

This is a first love, second chance, secret baby story. It spans over ten years from the beginning to the HEA. This is so maturely written that I was so impressed by it. The characters were fascinating and realistic. The emotions and feelings so tender and at times raw and angry. There was plenty of intimidation and fear. But the characters dealt with it with dignity and grace. This is a must read and I highly recommend it.
In spite of it all, he makes a sweet second chance happen
For Lila, Forever by Winter Renshaw is a lovely, well written second chance romance. This author holds the reader enthralled with her fantastic characters and captivating plot. I absolutely enjoyed this book from beginning to end and loved how the characters changed and grew over the time period this book spans. Lila and Thayer are instantly attracted to one another and eventually their chemistry stirs up some steam.
However, they become victims of meddling, yet never stopped loving each other in spite of their forced separation. Thayer is super romantic and optimistic, totally my kind of guy! And absolutely just what Lila needs.
Overall, a really wonderful book with a beautiful connection and emotional depth.
I read an ARC of this book from Hidden Gems and voluntarily share my review.
