Laci Rocha Peterson, 8 months pregnant, was last seen by her sister, Amy, in the late afternoon of December 23, 2002. She spoke to her mother, Sharon Rocha, at 8:30 p.m. that night. This would be the last time anyone from her immediate family ever spoke to her.A search began which lasted an agonizing four months. Sadly, Laci Peterson and her son Conner were found dead on the shores of San … San Francisco Bay on April 18, 2003.
Her husband, Scott, was eventually arrested and charged with the murder of Laci and Connor. After a sensational, media-saturated trial, Peterson was found guilty of capital murder and was sentenced to death on March 16, 2005.
This book deals with the story in three separate sections: first, Sharon describes the ordinary, loving life her daughter led, including fond memories of her childhood and adolescence. Second, it covers her marriage, disappearance, the community’s moving search for her, and her and Connor’s eventual recovery from San Francisco Bay. Third, it tells the story of the trial in detail not before revealed. Sharon will also talk about victim’s rights, a subject on which she now campaigns regularly.

Pretty clear Scott was killer.
Good thing get Lacy Peterson’s mother’s view.
Such a huge tragedy but the story was written very well. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
You can’t help but feel for Lacy’s mom.
This book was interesting, but almost more of a memoir than a true crime type of read.
A mother’s view of a terrible crime and what she went thru.
Sharon Rocha really took us into her world as she experienced the tragic murder of her daughter, Laci! Laci was honored and I’m sure she is proud of her mother.
One of the best true crime books I’ve read. Sharon Roacha did an amazing job providing us with all of the details as to what really happened in the murder of her daughter. She also provides details as to when she caught on that her son in law Scott was not the person she thought it was. The guy really was a creep, he had no heart, no emotion at all.
Disappointed
I was happy I was able to know Lacis story through her mothers eyes. Loved it.
It was amazing how Scott was able to fool so many for so long. This books is very informative of the crime, and its outcome. Her mother delivered an emotional statement at the sentencing. Heartbreaking story.
This incident was not that far from my home. I followed the story nonstop. I book followed the story and really touched my heart.
The story was written from the heart and was very well written. It is sad that some people can be so deceptive and take the salt of the earth away while they plod on doing evil things and thinking evil thoughts.
The book was very good reading. You got the whole story about Laci’s murder and how it affected the family.
I ached for Connor, Laci, and her Mom. And family. I’m glad Laci’s Mom wrote this book so that those of us who didn’t have the privilege of knowing Laci could experience
her vibrancy and love of life second hand
and celebrate what acspecial person she was.
Was mildly interested in this topic but the book shares all of the timelines, clarifies all the backstories and in general is an informative read.
Very good read
A must read for anyone who followed this case. Sharon gives life, yet again, to Laci through her story.
I liked the book because it showed the loss of a loved one from the parents and family side. Not from what Scott wanted you to know.
This book, written from a mother’s tragic experience of losing her daughter to violent crime, profoundly affected me. I could feel Sharon’s pain and passion as she searched for her beloved Laci, the grief she went through as she learned the truth, and the determination and strength she showed on behalf of her daughter as she sought justice for this horrible crime. I have reread this book many times. I recommend it highly.
