I loved this book so much. Finlay had some tragedy in her life and is trying hard to overcome it but then she meets Caden Brooks the current quarterback or Alabama. They have moments where things get steamy but they end things quickly trying not to go there. After a while they cant fight their attraction any more. This book has some steamy moments, some drama, and push and pull moments. It’s a great read.
Being an Alabama girl myself, who’s husband is a huge Miami Dauphin fan, I loved this book. My only issue was they never said Roll Tide!
I love this book! OMG! I initially thought it was a bit sad and just a girl moping around, but it became a true love story. Caden has his ego and hotness but Finlay is just a girl seeking peace from her twin’s death. The love between them is awesome and beautiful. For those who haven’t read a good romance book, here it is!
For Finlay
By J. Nathan
Main Characters: Finley and Caden
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
5 out of 5 stars
This is the first book I have read by this author and I loved it. Finlay suffers a terrible loss of her sibling and she has nightmares, an awful memory, and jealousy. It takes her a few years to cope and she does something to honor his memory. She meets someone whom she has hated since Cole’s death. So it is an enemy to lover’s book and had me crying, laughing, and praying for her to fall for Caden. This book was well written. I highly recommend it.
Opposites attract!
Finlay Thatcher is trying to put her life back together and restart college after the sudden death of her twin brother two years ago. She decided to go to the University of Alabama where she was the water girl for the football team but her plan to hide in the shadows ended when she was noticed by quarterback Caden Brooks.
Finlay and Caden are poles apart but neither of them seem to know much about the other especially when Finlay gives football advise to Caden. But opposites do attract!
This is the 1st book I read by J. Nathan. The only thing I liked about this story is the football scenes. I’m sorry the rest of the story didn’t interest me.
Thin Line Between Love and Hate
Finlay Thatcher lost her twin brother two years ago on his college football field. And since then, she has hated the quarterback who took his place. And what seems like survivor’s guilt and depression has consumed her life to the point where she can’t move on. Her brother’s coach offers her a lifeline and a job as the team “water girl.” But none of the team know about her connection to the team through her brother. She gets more than a job out of that job.
Caden Brooks is Alabama’s star quarterback. He appears to have it all, and from the time Finlay walks into the locker room, he is interested even though he can’t even admit it to himself. Getting to know Finlay, Caden finds his perfect girl. But since Caden has a gold digger girlfriend, and he is not a cheater, he breaks up with his girlfriend before he allows anything to happen between him and Finlay.
This is my third J. Nathan book, and I’ve noticed some similarities. They all have great characters, they all have a great storyline, they all have the right amount of steam, they all have every feel known to womankind, I’ve laughed, I’ve cried I’ve wanted to throw my kindle against the wall. And I have loved every one of them.
4.5 stars
This read was soooo good. I read it in one sitting, something I hadn’t done in a long time. It was THAT good.
I instantly liked the characters and even though there was a questionable part, I was pleased about how it was handled.
Finlay and Caden were great together, their chemistry, interactions, everything was superb. The plot was well developed, with the right amount of drama and light moments.
I want to read more about this author and the next books in this series. They sound very promising.

I was given a copy of this book by the New Adult Book Club and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.
Sometimes you come across a book that makes you wish that you had read it a lot sooner because you liked it so much. Well, ‘For Finlay’ is one of those books for me. I love sport romance books and new adult stories and this book is a combination of both. I’m so happy that I discovered this writer and this series and I will definitely read more books of J. Nathan.
‘For Finlay’ is a new adult book so there is a bit of drama in it but it’s very light and I liked that. The story is writing fluently and it’s an easy read. The story is told from both POV’s.
I liked both characters very much. Finlay isn’t afraid to tell Caden the truth but never not in a bad way. She’s just being honest with him (well, except about one little thing). Both Caden (and I) love that about her. Caden is a good guy. Yes, he had a few wild years when he was younger but now, he’s ready for more. He only has to find the right girl to give his heart to.
One of the things that I appreciated in this story is the fact that Finlay and Caden first build a friendship with each other and that they respected the fact that Caden had a girlfriend. Although you felt the chemistry growing between them, Caden never cheated. I liked that very much. And once they decided to go for it, the sex scenes were hot. Another thing that I loved about this story was the fact that although this is a theme that is used a lot in sport romance books (hot quarterback) the story still was interesting and refreshing to me.
So if you are also a fan of the books of Kristen Callihan or Elle Kennedy than you have to try this series too.
For Finlay by J. Nathan is Book One in the For You series. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I was hooked immediately. This sports romance has some real emotional twist and turns. I loved J. Nathan’s in depth character descriptions and witty banter between the characters.
I read this in one sitting, I couldn’t put it this book down! The pace and flow of this book felt effortless. Caden and Finlay’s push and pull, love to hate relationship kept me hooked from beginning to end. They had great, funny banter, hot chemistry and a shared past that was heart rending.
This book was one amazing read. The twists and turns that happened throughout the story were so unexpected! It is so much more than just a sports romance, it had everything! I can’t wait to read more from J. Nathan and this great series.

Finlay is trying to get her life moving again after the unexpected death of her twin brother brought her to a standstill.
I really enjoyed Finlay and Caden’s story. Seeing how they connect and grow closer was sweet. Especially when she was able to easily see the reason he was having issues with his throw at practice. She really saw the person he was not just him as the star quarterback.
Caden is a pretty stand-up guy and has a fun sense of humor when joking around with Finlay. I liked having his point of view in the story every so often.
There are a few plot points I wish had been wrapped up a little better, but, as this is the first book in a series, they may be addressed later.
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
Omg, , this story is kind of slowly crushing and sufficating. Like you are getting these bits and pieces of what is happening which I really liked, not having everything just thrown at me. But, then there is the past and the present together and the sadness in both is so much. The emotions are so real and they come alive and almost dance off the pages, you cant help but want to keep going to see just where everything is building up too. And when you do get to that Holy crow moment something else is there to meet you and throw you off again.
Finley is going through so much loss and heartbreak, but she is also going through so much amazing change and growth too. And all of this is hard for anyone in any situation. But doing it alone is epic…..
This girl tries her best to do everything to move forward to honor her brother, and honestly she does so amazingly.
LOVED EVERYTHING OF THIS BOOK FROM START TO END!!!!
This book was mind blowing and it hit the spot! I loved the characters and the plot of this book.
When i read the blurb, it caught my attention right away and i read the book twice. Each time i read it i fell in love with the book and characters a little bit more.
This book from start to end was an easy read with all the emotions you can think off. It keeps you guessing about what is going to happen next and it keeps you wanting more!!
5 STAR READ!!
I loved Finlay and Cadens story!! I fell in love with both of them!! I loved Finlay’s Sass and strength. Caden had me swooning MOST of the book. There connection and chemistry was amazing and written so beautifully that you could feel it and felt like you were right there with them. I love when a book can give me butterflies in my stomach and goosebumps, this book did that MANY times!!! The story line was unique, both a little heartbreaking yet a beautiful love story, and I loved every minute of it!!
Really enjoyed this one!
This was one of my many summer reads! I love how their relationship got closer and better of the book changing from friends to more than!
Well written. Made me me cry alot.
Oh my heck, this was a random find for me & it’s a 5+ story! Finlay & Caden have to fight for their HEA, and Caden is a right idiot at some points. But ah, I was rooting for them.
Their story is also about Finlay’s brother, Cole, and the role his death plays in their lives. HEARTBREAKING! I’m talking snotty tears, but then again, I’m very close w/ my brother, and was very close w/ my father, and the story of Cole’s loss touched me immensely.
Aside from the tears, I enjoyed this story very much, and will be picking up the other stories in this series of connected standalones. I’m looking forward to reading them! : )
If you love football and happy endings, this book is for you!
Such a sweet book. Loved the characters!
