I didn’t have an easy life. Waiting tables for a function centre was about as good as life got for me. There were no tips—unless telling me I had a great arse could be considered a tip—but it was enough for me to live on, barely. Everything else I needed, I took. And I was never caught, except that one time when these brothers and some weird chick busted me for stealing their car. It was their … fault I took it. They shouldn’t have left their keys where I could find them. And it was a sweet ride; I chucked a couple of donuts in that thing and it smoked up like a charm. Good times. Anyway, those guys took the car back, turned my boyfriend into a pussy and ended up making me homeless. When I saw that same car again in the function centre parking lot, I couldn’t resist. I pulled out my keys and started scratching. C… U… busted. I should’ve known it was a bad idea, but I never was one to listen to my conscience. Suddenly I was locked in a room while a family of five ridiculously hot brothers argued over what to do with me. Their mother wanted me dead, but they were insisting that stealing and vandalism weren’t necessarily grounds for a beheading. I was on their side. I quite liked my head—even though it seemed like I’d just gotten myself in way over it. But do you know what was crazy? The brother I’d stolen from, the one who’d caught me defacing his car, was now watching me like a lion watches a big juicy steak. Hmm, maybe I could spin this in my favour after all….

Oh boy do I love this series. I’m speeding through them so fast. Whilst this wasn’t my favourite book so far in the series, I still read it in less than 24 hours, and loved every second of it.
The Cartwrights are probably my new favourite fictional family. Kris and Ronnie are our two main characters in this one, and I must say that at times I really wanted to smack Kris. He was a sweety, but he was also a dick sometimes.
I liked that Ronnie was able to easily fit in, even if she wasn’t feeling it at times, and was very unsure of herself. Lilliana has a way of writing these strong heroine’s, but highlighting their insecurities in a relatable way which doesn’t make them out to be weak. It just shows their human side.
Ronnie is a take no crap kind of girl, and exactly what Kris needs. She also seemed to click pretty easily with Jasmine, which if you’ve read the previous book, you’ll know isn’t always the easiest feat.
It was interesting to get even more of inside line in this book in terms of the Cartwrights work, and I loved that we had some new and protective characters introduced in the end too. There’s definitely a surprise waiting for us at the end of this one with a couple of them.
Loved this book, and I’ve already started the next. I don’t think I’ll ever get enough of this family.
I’ve really enjoyed this entire series about the Cartwright Brothers, and whilst I didn’t think Holland and Nate could be topped, they were by this book. There was just something so wonderful and special about both Kristian and Ronnie that I just couldn’t help falling in love with them.
If you’ve read Fools Rush In then you will know a little about Kristian and also about Ronnie, though less by name and more by her actions! Whilst you could read this as a stand alone, reading the previous two books will give some very valuable back story that would enhance reading this. The story starts with Ronnie carving a very rude word into the door of Kristian’s Ute door. He demands she work of the debt, sort of kidnapping her in the process. Ronnie’s not sure if it is that bad a deal, at least she now has a roof over her head and a bed to sleep in – even if she does have to share it with Kristian!
Kristian at first seemed quite full of himself, almost to the point of arrogance. However as Ronnie spent more time with him, and more time getting to know him, we really saw quite a sweet and quite soft side to this hot piece of manhood.
Ronnie is one of those strong but vulnerable and ever so slightly damaged women. The type of heroine that you want to both look after and make your best friend. Always on the outside and desperate to belong she makes some decisions that might only lead to more unhappiness.
We get some really wonderful scenes where he lets Ronnie in to see the real Kristian, and some very funny ones when the pair are sniping at each other. The writing flows so smoothly, the pace was so good and the story so well written that once I started reading this I really didn’t want to put it down. Even though I prefer dual POV, I find the writing in this (Ronnie’s pov only) still allowed me to feel a connection to Kristian too. These two broken parts fit together into one very beautiful whole, the author imbues her characters with such emotion and depth of feeling that I almost feel as though I know them.
There are some very steamy scenes, though they were neither too long nor too frequent. Instead they helped make the developing relationship feel more believable. The book took me on a very unexpected journey, one that I was very glad I made and one that left me wanting so much more of ALL the Cartwright Brothers and their women.
There’s nothing I like more than a troublemaker. I always like to see how the other person handles it.
You don’t mess with the Cartwright I kinda like that she does and zero fucks given. She knew she shouldn’t but it’s in her nature to be defiance. When you mess with a Cartwright there are consequences.
I like Kristian, I feel him and Veronica are well suited.
I have to say there was a sad moment made me cry for her, it was heartbreaking to read she didn’t think she was worthy or she belonged.
The great thing about this series the brothers are paired with the right women, the women that compliments and challenge him.
Looking forward to Abbott and Sloane.

This is the first book I’ve read by Ms Anderson and now I’m a fan for life! This romance was quite a surprise; it packed a punch, filled with amazing characters and a lot of twists and turns that had me furiously turning the pages. It was at times hilarious, the witty and funny banter had me constantly laughing, and then the story would swerve and it felt as if the bottom would drop, and make you feel every emotion you could think of. So be prepared for leaky eyes. And happy sighs!
Lucky for me, Foolish Games is the third book in the Cartwright Brothers series and I get to go back and find out how all this deliciousness started! Just a personal note: I happen to LOVE when each chapter has a title, and these are so telling and funny.
Veronica “Ronnie” Sutton has been dealt the worst hand in life; growing up dirt poor she’s used to not having much, but she’s finally hit rock bottom. Ronnie’s definitely unlucky in everything, including love. Well, she would be, if she believed in it. The petty thief and her then boyfriend had stolen a car a year ago from the wrong person; that being Kristian Cartwright and when he took it back he made sure her awful life got worse. So when Ronnie sees the same car in the parking lot where she works she thinks it’s fate and decides to carve a message, to Kristian, on the door.
Kristian has a lawn service business that he operates with his brother. Or so it seems. The Cartwrights are a loving family; they all get along and gather at mom’s for Sunday dinner. They’re also a feared crime family run by their mother, Jasmine, a strong and fierce mob boss disguised as a loving mom. So when Kristian sees Ronnie violating his beloved car, the same girl who had previously stolen it, he decides she needs to be taught a more permanent lesson about messing around with a Cartwright. She’ll just have to work off the damage, at his house, as his maid and mowing lawns.
“That chick’s like a cockroach; can’t get rid of her.”
When these two start spending more time together, along with the other Cartwright siblings, they discover they could be two peas in a pod. I’m not giving out any more of the story, so you can read and relish it as I did!
“We’ve all got light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on.”
Foolish Games was such a great read. Readers that have enjoyed the previous books in this series will enjoy this story. This book gives us Kristian and Veronica’s (Ronnie) story. There’s more to Ronnie than what meets the eyes; she just wants to belong and Kristian seems like the perfect opportunity to get what she wants. However, when it comes to the Cartwright’s nothing is as simple as it seems and this story will keep you entertained until the very end. I absolutely enjoyed Breaker’s character. This story will make you smile, laugh and leaving you with a happy ending.
Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author. The Cartwright’s are back! And awesome as ever, we now have Kristian and Ronnie, I loved her. She kept messing with Kristian after he retrieved his car after she stole it, but when her life falls apart she wants revenge but unfortunately gets caught
And then the real fun begin!
I am loving the Cartwright family, and I must say, going into the first book, I wasn’t sure I would. But the author has created a lovable family even though they don’t live life on the straight and narrow.
I am really looking forward to reading Kristian’s twin’s story. He ended up a bit prickly after Kristian got with Ronnie, so I want him to have someone of his own to love. Oh, and I can’t wait for Toby’s story. He really deserves to find his happily ever after.
Let me tell you, when I read this at first I was like no way is this going to be somewhat as them playing games with one an another, but then I read more pages and let me tell you, I was in tears, I was laughing at one minute next you had tears because you could feel the characters pain. Then when she learns what they really do, she realizes she isn’t different from them, yes shes homeless, and doesn’t have family, and the Cartwright do, they take her in as there own. She even risks her life for them making them see that she is the one, shes perfect.. Lets just say when she does that, you get the tears in your eyes because lets just say someone else saved her but to her, he became a father type in her eyes…
Lilliana Anderson she outdid it and I cant wait to read more!! 🙂
All Veronica ever wanted was to belong and be a part of a real family. She’s never had an easy life and barely makes enough to keep her going, often resorting to theft to score some cash. She’s only been caught stealing a car once . . . and the brothers she stole it from stole it back and then cut off her connections leaving her homeless. When she sees them, and the car in question, at a catering event she is working, she can’t help but to take a bit of revenge in the form of vandalism . . . too bad she’s caught and now needs to pay up.
When she’s taken hostage to pay off her debt by working for their lawn service company, Ronnie’s torn between wanting out and wanting to stay. She and Kristian have a crazy hot chemistry between them, but could it ever be more no matter how much she may want it to be? His mom wants her dead and the rest of his brothers fall somewhere in between.
When Ronnie realizes more is going on, she finds herself in the real family business . . . and, once your family, you don’t ever get to leave.
While Foolish Games was a standalone, I felt a bit lost jumping in to this series, as it took me awhile to pick up on the family dynamics of the Cartwright’s as well as events that are mentioned that occurred in prior books.
Ronnie is a walking contradiction. She doesn’t want to reply on anyone, as people have always let her down, but she desperately wants to be a part of a family and to belong. Finding a way to fit i with Kristian and the rest of the Cartwrights becomes her greatest wish. I do love, however, that even though she wants a life with Kris, she isn’t willing to let him walk all over her or not trust in what they build together . . she’d rather walk away. I thought it showed a real strength in her character.
Kristian didn’t mean to fall, but when he did, he fell hard. He’s willing to fight his entire family to make them accept Ronnie as a part of it. He’s all alpha and a bit of a playboy, but his character does some major growing up in this book. He’s got trust and jealousy issues, but will need to move past them if he truly wants Ronnie in his life.
This book has lots of heat as the chemistry between this couple burns very hot. It’s also got a lots of action and suspense and a few twists that truly give this book that extra something special. The ending is spectacular. 4 stars.
