When my best friend died of cancer just before her eighteenth birthday, she left her coveted bucket list to me.
The things she already crossed off? Skinny dipping, going to Paris, completing the local hot wing challenge, road tripping to the ocean, and sending out a message in a bottle.
So, it falls on me to finish it for her, to honor her memory. In the next year, it’s my mission to:
Dye my … mission to:
- Dye my hair
- Have sex
- Camp out in a tent
- Go bungee jumping
- Get revenge on Lincoln Kolb
Most are doable, some terrify me, and then there is the last item on the list. When the raven-haired football god dumped my best friend during senior year of high school, she was devastated. The jerk with charm for days found out she was sick, and betrayed her in the worst way possible.
But he doesn’t know me, I went to school a town over. Now, to fulfill my promise, I’m the newest freshman on the campus where he is the big man. If there is one thing, aside from cheap beer, that a jock can’t pass up, it’s a shiny new girl.
So when I catch his eye, play hard to get, and then fall into his bed, I know my scheme is working to perfection. But what Lincoln can’t see coming is the beatdown I have planned for his ice-cold heart.
Unfortunately, what I never saw coming was the one he had planned for mine.

5 STARS FOR JIMMY AND STALLION!! The feels were running wild in this book. Henley and Lincoln will touch your heart with their banter, humor, sexiness and love. Carrie Aarons knows how to give us readers the perfect stories, that deserve 5 STARS and she did it with this book. You should definitely download this book….i read it in one sitting.
“I am not the type of girl who does something like this, but maybe this is what happens when your best friend dies. They say grief manifests itself in various ways, and maybe mine is turning into a vindictive bitch.”
Swoon with some giggles and heartache thrown in for good measure. I enjoyed the chemistry that Henley and Lincoln had, not just the steamy stuff but the playful banter as well. If you’re looking for a good story with steam, first love, and a bit of grief and revenge thrown into the mix, I would recommend that you check out Fool Me Twice!
Henley is off to college with a bucket list she was given from her best friend who passed from cancer prior to school starting. The last item on that list….get revenge on Lincoln Kolb.
Lincoln is the big freshman on campus, QB in line to take over the team. He’s ready to be the ladies man and take over the campus, including the ladies.
Henley and Lincoln meet at a party and he is immediately enamored. She remains aloof and unattainable to him which makes him chase her even more!
What happens when the guy you are starting to fall for is the one you are supposed to destroy? This was a wonderful book and I loved reading the journey of Henley and Lincoln.
This author truly knows how to write a captivating story. She pulls so many emotions from her readers in one book.
This book starts off heart wrenching when Henley’s best friend passes away from cancer, leaving Henley with a bucket list if things she never got to accomplish. Henley takes on that list and decides to finish it for her best friend in memory of her. Little did she know it would lead her somewhere unexpected.
This story takes you from the depths of grief to the soaring of love. You will not want to put this book down.
I’m not quite sure how to begin this review, other than to say that I didn’t feel that reading it once was enough to write a decent review on it. I’ve read it twice now, and I’m still not sure I can quite do it justice. My emotions were all over the place, and the author wrote it in such a way that I really felt like I was feeling what Henley was, experiencing what she was going through. And she was definitely going through some emotional upheaval!
Henley is an all american girl, living the perfect life. Except her best friend, who is more of a sister, is facing something no 18 year old girl should ever have to face, and it’s casting a dark shadow over Henley. When her best friend dies and leaves a “bucket” list, Henley is determined to complete it in her memory, regardless of the consequences.
Lincoln is an all american guy, and football is life. College is beginning, and that is all that he sees. Until he meets Henley, and starts having feelings that he hasn’t ever experienced before. He thinks things are going great, and he’s living his best life, but he doesn’t know that Henley has secrets, things he doesn’t know. Things that could destroy everything he’s working for!
This book is a show stopper. In the beginning, I felt like the heroine of the story, Henley, wasn’t such a good person, with the plans that she had. I don’t want to reveal too much, but as the story progressed, I began to see more of who she was, and how she was feeling, what she was going through. I’ll just say that the author left us with an ending that put a big smile on my face, and left me with a happy feeling, when I just wasn’t sure how on earth it was going to manage to work out! It’s definitely one that kept me guessing, made me wonder where the HEA was going to come from!
I usually adore Ms Aarons’ books and characters however this one missed the mark for me.
I was expecting Lincoln to be a jerk who only carried for himself and football, except he didn’t come across that way. He came across as a confident athlete who was working to achieve his dreams for the betterment of those he loved.
I was expecting Henley to be relatable and likeable, except she wasn’t and as the story went on I just didn’t like her and that ruined this reading experience for me.

Oh I have so many things I want to say but I can’t give away the story so here goes…
I got nervous when I found myself crying within the first few pages of this book. The friendship that Catherine and Henley had was one for the ages and my heart broke for Henley as she went forward with Catherine’s bucket list.
I loved Henley’s wit and sass, I could definitely see her and I being friends in another life! Lincoln on the other hand had me rolling my eyes and ready to smack him in the back of the head, man that boy had an ego! But this story was more than a friend fulfilling her best friends final wishes, it was more than getting revenge. It was so much more than those things and I can recommend this book enough because it was so good!!
Oh Carrie! Another book that stole my heart with your writing and the feels
I fell in love with these characters! The love and friendship. This book was so amazing! I was so captivated, I couldn’t put it down. This book is another epic book by this author. It totally reminds me why I love her books so much. Each new book and the characters she brings to life through them makes me always look forward to reading more from her. Such an emotional and epic book!
Henley friend dies and leaves her the rest of her bucket list. She has to get revenge on Lincoln who broke her friends heart. College starts and Henley got a plan she runs into Lincoln at a party. He is instantly attracted to her. He starts to fall for her and as they spend time together Henley is feeling things herself. She knew she might feel things but not so much. Great characters and storyline. Highly recommended. Awesome book loved it
OMG! Holy Wow Carrie!! Again you’ve went and knocked my socks off with your amazing stories yet again!!
I really loved this book so much. At first I was like mmmmmm…it did start a bit slow for me, but then it picked up pace around chapter 3. Then it was off like a rocket! What a great story this was!
Henley and Lincoln meet at college and it’s for a reason they met. A very specific reason. Henley needs to get revenge on Lincoln for what he did to her bestie in high school. They don’t know each other, but Henley knows all about him. And she needs to get revenge on him!!
It’s all set up and ready to go but Henley didn’t know she’d feel like she would towards Lincoln, and Lincoln didn’t know he’d end up feeling the way he did about her.
One thing leads to another, and they end up really liking each other. Little does Lincoln know what’s coming his way. But can Henley really do it after all this time, and the attraction they have towards one another?
I really liked the way that she made him wait it out for anything to happen. She tortured the poor boy LOL! But he deserved. He knew how he was with women before, and he had no idea how to handle Henley!
Also Lincoln helps her with her list, but doesn’t know who the “friend” is. I loved that Carrie took it that way and he actually helped with some of the items on the list.
One of my fave quotes from the book:
1. Once you feed the beast, it’s hard to go back. – ROFL!!!! Henley cracks me up!! If you’ve read it, you know what she’s talking about!
WOW… Fool Me Twice is another great read by Carrie Aarons! I have to be honest; I wasn’t sure that this was the story for me when I first started reading. I couldn’t have been more wrong and was quickly drawn in! A story about heartbreak, healing, love and forgiveness; Fool Me Twice really tugged at my heart. I loved Henley and Lincoln together and couldn’t wait to see how their story would end!
Carrie Aarons is an awesome storyteller and always leaves her readers craving more!
Fool Me Twice has easily become one of my favorite reads so far of 2020! This book made me laugh and cry at different times. Keeping her promise to her best friend, Henley sets out to complete her best friends bucket list. The last thing on the list is breaking the heart of the one boy who broke her best friends heart. Henley was sarcastic and so lovable and Lincoln was not who I thought he would be, he was ten times better! I love how Carrie wrote these two characters and the all the ups and downs she made them go through. This was such a great book and so easy to enjoy!
I had mixed emotions about this book. I loved the fact that Henley is so dedicated to her best friend whom shes mourning but not how she follows the bucket list so blindly. Catherine had made a bucket list when her cancer diagnosis came back bad. She didn’t get to complete it but asks Henley to do so. What is on the list are pretty normal things, dye your hair, go bungee jumping, go camping. The one thing on the list is to destroy Lincoln. Just because he broke off their dating relationship when Catherine was diagnosed again. Catherine was heartbroken and by best friend code so was Henley. Henley acomplishes most of whats on the list funiily enough with Lincoln’s help. I didnt adore Lincoln but i had some soild respect for him. He is mystified by Henley and intrigued. He sticks with her through things he doesnt quiet understand but he does all her crazy, wacky stuff. This whole scenario had disaster written all over it. The way Carrie Aarons twists this is really great. I so enjoyed fretting about what would happen with these two.
It started out as revenge but eventually turned into love. Henley was fulfilling her dead best friend bucket list in which getting revenge on Lincoln was one. Lincoln was immediately smitten with Henley when he met her. Henley thought he was extremely handsome but falling for him isn’t in her plans. Boy how wrong she was. Lincoln was not the guy she expected him to be; as a matter of fact he was an amazing guy. As her revenge got harder the heartbreaking part was when Lincoln found out. It was a rollercoaster of emotions and it was different to see the heroine groveling instead of the hero. He also had lots of people that had his back. They eventually got over that hurdle and their epilogue was just awesome!! Great college sports romance with great characters and some emotion.
I absolutely loved this one, it broke my reading funk. Carrie brought us some brilliant characters that I really loved and the storyline was one that completely drew me in. How far would you go for revenge??
Henley is an amazing person. I loved her strength and passion. After losing her best friend she is determined to finish off her bucket list. Her feelings were so real and honest, how she struggles with her grief and her feelings for Lincoln.
Lincoln, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like him considering one of the items on the bucket list was to get revenge on him, but, as we read on and get to see more of him along with some glimpses into his backstory my opinion changed and I ended up quite liking him.
I always love this Author’s writing and this one was no different as she has an amazing way of telling a story that pulls at your emotions but also makes you swoon and your heart swell. This is definitely one you should read.
Calling all college romance readers!!! This one is for you! This book follows Henley on her journey to college after the death of her best friend. At college she finally encounters the infamous Lincoln. Getting revenge on Lincoln is listed on her friends to-do list that Henley is now completing. Is it possible to make someone fall in love with you without falling yourself? Henley soon discovers the answer to this question.
While I thought this was an amazing read, it did have issues with it. The interactions between Henley and Lincoln in the beginning were juicy and they left me wanting more, but as Henley continues to make her revenge plan come to fruition, it kinda fell flat for me. I just feel like they could have had more dialogue and just that there was something missing in general. It felt like all they did was sleep together, I found myself skipping over those parts because I wanted more of them talking about things of substance.
If you want to read a book that will make you have all the feels, this is it!!
Henley makes a promise to her best friend, Catherine, before she passes from cancer – get revenge on the boy who did her wrong. Henley decides the best way to get revenge is to make him fall for her before she breaks his heart.
Lincoln is ready to start his Freshman year of college. Enjoy his time, do his thing, and enjoy all the girls. That is until he meets Henley.
Henley learns not everything is how it seems, even Lincoln.
Excellent read!!
Love! Absolute LOVE for this book! I enjoyed the interactions between Henley and Lincoln, and I have to give Henley props for continuing to honor her best friend’s bucket list, even though her heart begins to feel something different when it comes to Lincoln. I was engaged and pretty much glued to my e-reader while I was reading this because I couldn’t wait to see how things would play out for these two, especially once he discovered her plan. The banter between them is fresh and sometimes snarky, sometimes sweet and sexy, there are a few emotional scenes that got me in the feels.
How far would you go to keep a friendship? Friendship is everything for Henley and losing Catherine when her life is just beginning is still too fresh for her. They had plans that were supposed to happen and now she is alone. It was supposed to be simple, just follow the list and get it done. The thing is that Henley didn’t expect Lincoln Kolb to be well not what her best friend described. I loved that Carrie Aarons made Henley seem to guard her heart from him but dang is he persistent. Lincoln seems to be so into his football it’s hard to get past his cockiness but once you do he shines till the end. Throughout the whole book Carrie Aarons shows us the start of a game in Henley’s part yet we go through a love she has never experienced before. The feelings Lincoln gives out can be scary, funny but most of all it is a time Henley will never forget. Might have started as a revenge and keeping a friend’s memorie alive but it is a love so grand no one saw it coming. Loved it.
