Had me from page one. If you like a good mystery, you need to try Fool me Once. It was hard for me to put down!
An easy read.
Thoyght provoking with great twists. Beautifully written.
I found the hardcover version in a beach consignment store. It was written in 2016. As usual, Harlan Coben takes an everyday event that happens to turn into a great mystery with a twist in the end. Maya, the protagonist, sees a live image of her dead husband on a kid-cam in her living room. When the baby sitter denies the event and steals the memory card, the adventure begins. Setting takes place from NYC down to a private school in Bryn Mawr, PA, spanning twenty years. Red herrings and clues keep the reader guessing until the very end. Read this if you can’t sleep, and you’ll finish it in a single sitting.
Another well written book Of this author, read it some time ago…
Really good book. I didn’t have any of it figured out. I couldn’t put it down.
This book was great. Probably the most suspenseful book I’ve read of Coben’s so far. It kept me intrigued throughout The whole book. The ending was quite the surprise. If you like thrillers, this is definitely worth the read.
If I had any criticism of this book at all, it would be the repetition of the main character’s night time issues and constant reminders of that. The problem was totally understandable, but the continued repetitions didn’t really add to the story and I felt like it slowed down the pace. Having said that, the story was great, the characters believable and a great read.
This was one of the stories that gets you hooked, reals you in and then throws the twist at you in the end.
Can’t wait to read another one of his books
I have always been a big fan of Harlan Coben. If you have never read any of his books, you are missing out on a real treat. This book, like all of his others, was difficult to put down to go to sleep! If you love unpredictable, you’ll love Harlan Coben!
Any Harlan Coben book is great!
Coben provides more “red herrings” than any author I’ve recently read. I am hooked and will be binge reading. It was so intense I needed to read something lighter, before reading the next!
Library copy.
Fool Me Once is probably the best murder mystery I’ve ever read. He could’ve tipped his hand early; he didn’t. It could’ve been formulaic; it wasn’t. It could’ve stayed a snarl of confusing facts that makes untangling Christmas lights look like untying a slip knot; it didn’t.
I didn’t give this 5 stars because I prefer entertainment that has no cuss words and is absolutely free of innuendo. This one doesn’t qualify, but it also wasn’t littered with cussing, nor did it make more than 1 passing reference to something relatively innocuous. I’d rank it about with a Louis L’Amour book on those scores, had he grown up in a society where foul language was the accepted norm.
Harlan Conen never disappoints
Loved it!!
Loved it! Many interesting twists in story.
One of Coburn’s best. Once I started I did not want to put it down. Read in one setting. When I was told who the shooter was, it was not whom I expected at all. Great read.
