Presley Dawson was introduced in Running from My Heart as the lover of a cheating husband. This is his story of redemption. Presley is ashamed but unable to let go of his feelings for the man who died years ago, after leaving him to try to make things right with his marriage. Press is lucky enough to have a wonderful friend, Frisco, who finally convinces him to go to grief counseling to learn to deal with his grief and move on with life.
When Presley meets Nate at the support group, the two feel an instant connection, but Nate’s reasons for being there convince Press that he can’t be honest with Nate about his past. As they grow closer and become more involved, Nate opens up and begins to feel things for Press that he never expected. Presley begins to feel guiltier about his lies of omission every time they are together. Will their relationship be able to survive Nate learning the truth about the man he’s come to love?
I absolutely love this book! Presley and Nate are not perfect, but they are wonderful together. Each has a great support system that they should listen to more often. Frisco wants Press to have the kind of romance and love that he deserves; and Nate’s family is hopeful that he will let go of the anger and pain he’s been holding on to since even before his father died. The support group, Lost in New York, which this series will be built around, brings Press and Nate together and introduces characters who are also hurting and trying to heal. I look forward to reading more about of them, and I hope to see more of Presley and Nate as the series continues.
No one is perfect, and nothing in life is truly black and white. This romance shows that sometimes the bad guy might be confused, lonely, and a victim of poor choices. They should be allowed to change and grow, and just maybe they can deserve their own happy ending.
I enjoyed both the story and narration. I know when I read a book by this author that I will not be taken away from the story by countless typos. The plot is well crafted and makes perfect sense. Yes, I knew exactly what would be their problem as a couple, but it didn’t take anything away.
I liked that Presley and Nate are in their thirties and well established in their respective careers. I loved how descriptive the book is, particularly with regards to Presley’s business. The relationship takes a while to develop although attraction is instant, which is a further positive point. The secondary characters are well-rounded and I suspect both Monroe and Frisco will get their own books.
The narration by Kale William’s is clear and nicely paced. I had no problems following despite my hearing problems. His voice is without affectation which gives an almost comforting feel. He brings the story and characters to life.
“Love can make us fools. But it can also make us strong and teach us about ourselves. I never want to think of my life as wasted. I hope I learn something from every experience, good or bad. I want you to trust me and what we have.”
I know who Presley Dawson is and I should’ve hate him for what he did with Arden’s late husband, Jared. But when he show up at nearly end of Ross and Arden’s story, I don’t know why….I couldn’t hate him. There’s something about him that made me feel sorry for him and curios about his side of story. What had happen to this poor lonely guy? And I have this feeling that his story will be another heartbreaking one (well, we all know very well about the author capability in breaking readers heart, right?)
So, yes. I’m so excited when I know Presley will gonna have his own book.
Young, lonely, fool and in need to be loved. Young Presley fall into a married man charm. He know it’s wrong, but at that time he thought that it was love. Years after Jared gone, Presley still in grieve and hurt. Following his best friend suggestion, he then joining a support group for the people who lost their love one.
Nate’s life had turned upside down since he found out about his dad cheating scandal. For his entire life, Nate’s always put his dad as a role model and secretly seeking for his praise. But after he’s ‘coming out’, the distance between them slowly grew apart. Years after his father gone, anger still engulfed him and his dad infidelity affected him and leave him with huge trust issues in relationship.
When Nate and Press meet at the group session, the sparks happen between them. But can their newly grow affection will have a future? Can someone who has trust issue accept someone who had been in a position as the third person who ruined someone else’s life?
Is there really a second chance?
I must admit that I really like how the author slowly turned the reader hate at Presley to love. I like Presley. I admire how he put himself to never be at the second place again in love and life. He learned from his mistake and fighting for his love. He deserve the best and so glad that he finally found his own HEA.
And I hope after reading about Press’s story you’ll falling in love with Press and Nate.
I’m totally curious about Frisco’s story, but the author already said that the next story in this series belongs to Monroe and Ezra. Yes, that Ezra ~ Dom’s agent from the book Running from My Heart.
Really can’t wait to know their story.
“I guess love is when you see something so broken, others walk around the pieces, but you stop and try to put them back together. Thank you for taking the time to gather the pieces of me and put this broken mess together again.”
I’m a fool for Press and Nate
“If it was all a lie, who am I?” This line resonated with me as I read this book. What a heart-wrenching question to ask yourself and most likely even harder to move forward from, but Presley and Nate enter into an amazing journey to find their answers. Some of their actions frustrated and worried me, but they were meant to. Growing and finding who you are is a wonderfully imperfect adventure and it was truly amazing and beautiful watching theirs. Seeing them show their vulnerabilities and their bravery as well as seeing them learn how to trust and let love in was everything.
“You’re like starlight wrapped in moonbeams. There’s no more darkness when you’re with me.” Oh these words and these guys. They do such an incredible job not only of taking care of each other but also pleasing each other in so many ways, both big and small. I especially enjoyed their passion; as the heat that Press and Nate generate, whew, it will definitely keep you warm on a cold night. The world is full of beautiful shading as is this book along with the powerful emotions it evoked. The ending, especially, I couldn’t stop smiling. I really liked some of the other characters, looking at you Frisco, and hope they get their own stories. Nate and Press won’t need to steal your heart. You’ll happily give it away to them.
Another wonderful, deeply moving love story by Felice Stevens, with her trademark depth of feeling and amazingly nuanced character development.
Presley’s not exactly the perfect, blameless hero, but you cannot help but love him and root for him, despite and maybe even because of the mistakes he made in his past. He’s such a sweet, vulnerable guy who is just so desperate for a true connection and someone to feel loved and safe with. I’d already started sympathizing with him by the end of Running From My Heart and I was so happy to see him get his own story and a second chance at life and love.
Nate also carries a lot of pain within him, but he hides behind his anger and by avoiding more meaningful romantic connections. That all changes when he meets Presley and I loved watching them fall for each other, how they went about dating, the small hiccups in their relationship because of insecurities and jealousy, … all things that made them complex and very human and realistic MC’s. At once recognizable and heartwarmingly imperfect.
I absolutely adored the secondary characters like Nate’s brother and mum, their counselor Monroe, and Presley’s best friend, Frisco. I hope both Monroe and Frisco will get stories of their own.
It was interesting to see how the past for both of the these men both brought them together but left so many obstacles to overcome. There have their grief as well. Nate’s feelings were real and really were about more than one thing in relationship to his father. It was great to see these two find the way to work through their feelings.
I listened to audio version and really enjoyed it very much.
YOU CAN’T PUNISH SOMEONE FOR THEIR PAST ACTIONS
I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.
Presley meets Jared at a grieving group. They hit it off but their past hurts make them vulnerable. They have truths to face and a long road to knowing what they could be together. Their pasts throw wrenches into their relationship and it takes outside intervention to right the wrongs. I love the portrayal of the love that the family and friends used for intervention into making the relationship work.
The narration was superb. The narrator got the emotions portrayed very well.
Fool for Love is book one in the series, Lost in New York, by Felice Stevens. This is my very first book by this author. This is a M/M romance, the story of two men, both betrayed in different ways, both lost, until they found each other.
Presley Dawson is the owner of a successful antique store in New York. Presley lost his parents when he was in college. Alone and naïve, he got involved with a man who he thought he was madly in love with, only to discover he was married. He broke things off only to take him back later, linking this man to his only chance for love. Only now the other man is gone. Six years Presley has grieved. He hasn’t been able to move on.
Nate Sherman is a partner for a law firm that his late father founded. Nate idolized his father, would do anything to win his approval. But when he came out to his dad, their relationship was never the same. When his father died in the bed of another woman, Nate’s lifelong ideal of the man who raised him was shattered. Three years later and Nate still hasn’t gotten over his anger or betrayal. He doesn’t trust, he doesn’t sleep.
“This wasn’t a simple kiss. This was possession.”
Both men are encouraged to attend a grief counseling group and that is how they met. Their attraction was immediate. But Presley has been used before so he’s not going to let that happen again. He wants them to get to know each other before they take things to the next level. The more time they spend together, the more they both fall. But now Presley knows of Nate’s past. If Nate finds out about what Presley did when he was younger, he would never forgive him.
“You’re like starlight wrapped in moonbeams. There’s no more darkness when you’re with me.”
This is a beautiful story of healing, of leaving the past behind, learning from it and moving on, trusting and finding, and accepting love. I loved both of these men. They were perfect for each other. I also have to mention Presley’s best friend, Frisco. I adored him. I’m so excited that he will get his own book in book three of this series, Never Say Never. This author’s writing is beautiful and I most definitely look forward to more of her work in my future.
“You gave me back my light.”
Impatiently waiting for the next in series!!! This book spoke to my heart, loved it.
Fool for Love is an emotionally gripping and heart-felt story. The book focuses on Presley “Press” Dawson who is still mourning the loss of his “boyfriend” after 6 years, and along with the insistence of his best friend Frisco, decides to attend a grief counseling group where he meets Nathaniel Sherman who he is instantly attracted to, but doubts himself due to the events of his past. Nathaniel “Nate” Sherman is attending grief counseling to appease his older brother. Ethan, although he does need help with his inability to sleep since his father died 3 years ago, and it was discovered that his father was cheating on his mother, leaving Nate with severe trust issues. Nate and Press connect over the fact that neither is too sure about whether or not the grief counseling will help them. However, despite his trust issues, Nate cannot dismiss Press’ innocence and sweet nature, and is intensely attracted to Press, and Press despite doubting his own judgment and self-worth is unable to stay away from Nate. The chemistry and energy between these two is so strong that it jumps off the pages.
I completely felt wrapped up in Nate and Press’s story. I rooted for these two guys to work out, although while reading I kept wanting to shake Press and tell him to spit it out!! “You know he has issues with trust, and this delay is not helping!!” My heart did break for Press, and Nate too, but communication is key, and knowing how much you love someone really does help to conquer all. Not to mention, redemption and forgiveness are such fulfilling sentiments. Press and Nate were long due their happily ever after, and I cheered for them when they got it, because these two were made for each other. Fool for Love is a great start to the new Lost in New York series by Felice Stevens, and I cannot wait for the next book in this series. Well done, Felice!!
Presley & Nate’s story is of redemption but also learning that trust, love & forgiveness is a journey with some bumps on the way.
Presley was introduce to the readers in Running From My Heart where he was in a affair with Arden’s late husband, Jared.
Nate is still holding onto issues surrounding his fathers death. But Ms. Stevens has a way to turn all this things into another amazing story.
I hope that in future stories in this spin off series from The Rock Bottom Series, that Presley & Nate somehow run into Ross & Arden.
Amazing secondary characters
Reading Fool for Love was like reading a real life problems in beautiful words. Presley and Nate once looking for perfection, but then when they met, nothing was perfect, and they dealt with that. Forgiveness and acceptance was important for both of them. It hurts me that Press and Nate had to deal with their past before finding each other again. Life is like that. It’s perfect. But the imperfections makes it perfect
Fool for Love: WOW! Fantastic writing! I loved all the characters they were perfect for this story. Nathan and Presley were full of surprises and I kept wanting to find out what was going to happen it was so good. I loved the challenges that they went through to find out that they really had true love between them. Frisco was the perfect friend to have on his side. I loved that Frisco was always there for Presley when he needed him even though he wanted to give a swift kick sometimes. Nathan had his support team as well even though he didn’t take their advice very well. It was just an amazing story all around.
I loved the journey of Press and Nate. It wasn’t easy, it broke my heart to pieces at times, but I couldn’t be more happy that I walked this path with them
Felice gives us a beautiful journey between two men that come from different worlds, yet they are two puzzle pieces that fit together perfectly. Even so, sometimes life tests your resolve and you have to remember that the love you share and moving forward in life is what counts the most. Their road to happiness was worth every bump in the road.
I look forward to more of Felice’s work in this series. Bring on Monroe and Frisco!
5 Epically Beautiful Stars
Wow Felice Stevens did you try to rip my heart out with this story! Nate and Presley’s romance was hard fought, but the ending was so beautiful and romantic, I’ll forgive you
Boy do Nate and Press have a lot of baggage to unpack in order to be able to move forward to their HEA. They’re both grieving a huge loss in their lives, but in very different ways. The grief is also covering up trust issues, underlying anger and uncertainties that also plague each of them.
If you read [book:Running from My Heart|48390823] you probably aren’t Presley’s biggest fan from the little we learned about him (if you haven’t read it this will work as a standalone), but he quickly won me over. He hasn’t made it easy on himself the past 6 years and even his closest friend Frisco – who has no problem telling it like it is – can’t get him to forgive himself and move forward. Nate isn’t dealing with his issues either, no matter how much his mother and brother worry about him. Neither is expecting the grief support group to change that, but the two instantly connect and embark on a slow burn romance. Press lays down the law of how things will go, afraid of being used again, but wanting to be loved. Nate is not in the market for a relationship, but something about Press makes it near impossible for him to walk away. They date, and learn about each other, they talk most things out, but there are some things that are just too hard to say and could destroy everything they are building when the truth finally comes out.
These two definitely have their ups and downs and both have a fantastic growth arc over the course of the book. I really liked seeing the romantic in Nate come out and seeing Press putting himself first instead of relying on someone else to do that for him. This was a wonderful story of two men struggling not to let their pasts, and the others who once played such a big part in those pasts, define their futures, while finding an unexpected love along the way.
Presley Dawson really screwed up in a way that can make a character hard to like. Presley needed redemption and Felice gave it to him beautifully in “Fool for Love”. I went from cursing him in “Running From my Heart” to wanting to hug him and tell him everything would be ok. I also felt a lot of sympathy for Nate, even when I wanted to bop him on the back of the head a few times to shake him out of his self-righteousness. Felice Stevens is so good at making you feel for her characters. Both Nate and Presley are flawed and a bit lost. Felice put them through some great character development and growth, testing them in ways that humbled Nate and paved the way for Presley to become more confident and value his self-worth. I loved Prestley’s best friend Frisco and can’t wait to see how Felice handles him when it’s his turn.
Fool for Love is a great start to the Lost in New York series. It’s a wonderful story about two men trying to move forward in spite of the emotional baggage that weighs them down and keeps them from being truly happy. It can easily be read as a standalone.
Can we learn and grow from past mistakes? How do we forgive what we think of as unforgivable? Fool for Love is such a beautifully written story of two broken men, Presley and Nate, each damaged by their past. Moving on from loss and grief is sometimes more than the heart can handle. How each person deals with grief is such an individual thing. No two people react the same.
This love story is so layered and complex. Like peeling an onion back until you reach the core. These men must learn to forgive and accept themselves before they can move onto the love that is waiting for them.
I loved the journey that Felice Stevens has taken us on with Presley and Nate. They are flawed, wonderful, loving characters. Seeing them become stronger, opening themselves up to what the future holds is amazing. The secondary characters add so much depth to this story. I can’t wait to read the next book in the Lost in New York series.
This is the 1st in a new series and is Presley and Nate’s story. These two meet at a grief session group and have many issues to overcome. This is a well written story which had me intrigued and hooked throughout and I recommend for all.
This was a great read & made me not want to put my Ereader down & continue reading, but I had to stop & charge Ereader other than that I’d probably have read it in one day. I wasn’t fond of Presley in Arden’s book, but I got to like him in this a bit & I’m happy he met Nate & could have a real & happy relationship. Looking forward to next book in this new series.
