All I wanted to do was run my bookstore, forget my failed marriage, and escape my past. But life on a tiny island makes that tough, especially when rumors are swirling that Justin Albott, famous mystery writer and my first love, is returning to the island. I’ve watched his career. Stocked my bookstore with hardcovers that bear his glossy photo. There seems to be two sides to his personality. The … personality. The online persona, who smiles when prompted, and the one that I remember—the thief of hearts. The one who just walked into my store and crooked that familiar grin.
We’ve both changed over the years. I’m no longer married, and he’s no longer the boy who left me behind.
I’d give anything to know why he’s really come back and if that kiss between us was real

Justin and Leslie are wonderful in this book. This book gives me the feel of second chance romance. These two have loved each other forever and when Justin leaves to fix himself, he has never forgotten a out Leslie. A part of her is always in the characters he writes. I found this book amazing and sweet to read. A.M. Willard is always one of my go to authors and I’m excited to see what’s next.
Leslie run a small bookstore that used to be her Nan’s and the boy that broke her heart Justin is now back in town and she is not sure what he wants. One look at Leslie and Justin knew their connection from years ago is still there, so the best thing for him was to write his book and get the heck out of town. Unfortunately fate doesn’t always listen and neither does the heart. Leslie’s Nan told him years ago to follow his arrow and it point him home and right now that was pointing right at Leslie. What a sweet second chance romance. I really enjoyed reading this book and the characters were so inviting and engaging. I hope Elliott and Hannah story gets told too. Definitely recommend this book and this author.
I received a free ARC of this book and am voluntarily writing my honest review.
This is a perfect second chance romance! Leslie and Justin were childhood sweethearts who went on separate paths in life. But now they are back on the same island and about to come face to face. Old feelings quickly resurface…romantic feelings and feeling of hurt and betrayal. The author built this story in a fluid manner, allowing the reader to immediately immerse themselves in the book. I loved the characters although they frustrated me at times. This book has everything I have come to expect from Ms. Willard….romance, laughs, and drama.
if you love stories that you can get fully immersed in with realistic characters and true to life obstacles, grab this book!
This was a very enjoyable second chance romance. It had everything from romance to mystery to humor. I was hooked from the very first sentence because I could definitely relate to Leslie’s gracefulness!
Leslie and Justin’s reunion is not a happy one. They have to work to rebuild the friendship they once had. Justin had to knock down quite a few walls, and Leslie had to learn to be more open-minded. I loved watching the pieces of their relationship fall together.
A.M. Willard gave us a wonderful but bumpy ride to happily ever after!
(That epilogue went from “aww, that’s what I expected” to “oh, $*&%” in a heartbeat!)
3.5 stars
Leslie and Justin were childhood sweethearts whose relationship ended when he went away to follow his dreams and never came back. Until now, years later, when his agent sends him back to the island to do some writing on the manuscript he’s far behind on. Justin knows it’s not going to be easy to get Leslie to give him a second chance, to forgive him for leaving her behind. And when he starts writing his latest manuscript and she and her story take center place in his writing, he REALLY knows she’ll be hard pressed to forgive him.
There’s a little mystery thread running through Follow Your Arrow and I liked it more than the romance. Not that the romance wasn’t kinda sweet, because it was, it just wasn’t that interesting, nor was their chemistry very strong (as in mostly fade to black). Leslie was really bitter, understandably, and it made her less than likable; and Justin was a little on the, not so much wimpy, but more on the bland, side. Not my favorite combination of characters. The mystery, though, kept my interest. The little twist at the end made up for my lack of interest and lack of connection with the two leads and their second chance.
I do like the world created within Follow Your Arrow and am interested to see where, if anywhere, it’s expanded, though, so hope to see more.
Second chance romance!
Leslie and Justin had a childhood romance which ended when Justin left to follow his dreams. As immature children, Leslie could not forgive him for leaving her behind. Unfortunately, she still wants nothing to do with Justin when he finally returns to write a manuscript he’s had trouble completing. Little does Leslie know, she is written into every book. Justin still loves Leslie, but he has his work cut out for him!
I was annoyed with both characters in this novel. I found Leslie to be distrustful and lacking self-confidence (the reason for this was explained, but even then, I was screaming “move on woman!). And I felt similarly about Justin who seemed to be whiny and needy. However, the story had a lot of promise with the underlying mystery drawing the reader to want to read the next book in the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I really liked Follow Your Arrow. It was a wonderful heartwarming story about heartbreak, healing and second chances. Sometimes the person that you’re meant to be with is the one that got away. That’s the case for Justin and Leslie. They were childhood sweet hearts until Justin’s decides to follow his dreams and leave Leslie behind. Now years later they both still own each other’s hearts. The road to trust and forgiveness may be long and hard but it’s one Justin is willing to travel in order to get Leslie back.
Their story ends with a surprise that I didn’t see coming.
I would definitely recommend this book. I can’t wait to read what Mrs. Willard writes next.
A great read! It’s sweet, mysterious, angsty and heartwarming with some heartbreaking moments. It will suck you in from the beginning as it has you feeling all sorts of emotions as it takes you through some twists and turns. You will fall in love with the characters. I loved the connection and chemistry between the characters. It’s an entertaining read. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
This was my first read by A.M. Willard, I was intrigued by the blurb and it turned out to be a good second chance romance read with a bit of mystery thrown in there as well!
Leslie and Justin have a past together, but he left the island they lived on and went and became a famous author, she stayed and ran the local book store, selling all his books, the island becoming a tourist attraction in the summer for the author and his past, but of course this reminded Leslie of her past with him and everything she had lost. She tried to move on and got married, but she ended up leaving him after he cheated.
Now Justin is back on the island for inspiration for his last novel in the series, and back to win Leslie back.
A nice read for second chance romance lovers, although Leslie got on my nerves a little, Justin was really patient with her, but worth the read.
This was a captivating story. It also has a bit of mystery in it. It also is a little heartbreaking and it seems to happen to Leslie over and over again. It started when she was little with her parents and continued with her high school sweetheart, whom she never got over, and then on to her ex- husband. And now word is her high school sweetheart who her heart still really belongs to us coming back to town for who knows what. She’s a mess and doesn’t know what is what. Justin knows who is one is but doesn’t know if he can ever win her back. This book will punch you right in the feels. You will pull for Justin but then you will want to smack him right in the face. Then you will pull for him again, it’s like you are Leslie and don’t know what to do. You will cry right along with her. It’s a beautifully damaged love story that has a cloud of mystery surrounding it that will bring chills to your soul and tears to your eyes. I highly highly recommend this book.
A bookstore owner. An author. A teenage romance rekindled. What’s not to love?
This is the story of Leslie and Justin. Leslie is a divorced book store owner who has told herself she is satisfied with the routine and lonely life she leads. She believes that if she doesn’t let anyone in besides her few friends then she can’t let anyone else hurt her. Then Justin comes back into town, her teenage lover now best selling author. His agent sent him back to the home he left for inspiration to finish his mystery series that is set in his hometown. The minute they see each other old feelings are brought up. Justin still loves Leslie. His books even were inspired and portray part of her. Leslie wants to hold onto to the hurt and hate she thinks she feels towards him for breaking her heart years before. But as she tries to avoid him and he pursues her, they find out they have their own mysteries in each others lives to solve.
This was a fun read. What I really enjoyed was that the author started the story right away. There wasn’t any long build up to set the scene. She threw the reader right into it. The story starts off with Justin coming home in hours and Leslie not being happy about it. From there the store builds and we quickly learn the history of the two characters and why the feel the way they do. This story has all the things I love in a story: strong characters, humor, romance, swoon worthy scenes, surprises and even some mystery. I highly recommend this book to all romance and fans of just a good story. I really hope there is more to come from this author with this story. Read the book. You’ll feel the same way.
I absolutely Adored this book! The author has written a wonderful storyline that is heartfelt, funny, and will keep you on your toes. The characters are so down to earth you’ll feel like you’ve known them all your life. I found myself laughing, smiling and hurting righting along with all of them (even the supporting cast).
Leslie and Justin were high school lovers with big plans. But as with most teen loves, life got in the way causing a change in their youthful dreams. But what happens when years later when they are brought back face to face and new facts of things that happened years ago come to light? Can they forgive and possibly go for a 2nd chance? When it seems as if history will repeat itself, does it cause more heartache? Do Justin and Leslie finally have a chance at being together or will they decide to remain friends and continue to follow their personal dreams/arrows?
This story will touch your heart and have you wishing for that ever elusive HEA. 2 Thumbs Up for a great book, one I Highly Recommend reading. You won’t be sorry you did.
