My Heart
Let your heart be lovestruck as A.L. Jackson’s lyrical writing takes you back to Gingham Lakes in the second stand-alone installment of the Fight for Me series, featuring Dr. Kale Bryant and Harley Hope Masterson. Sometimes even hope needs a hero, and sometimes even a hero needs hope.
“. . . don’t ever, ever give up on hope. Because it’s always there. No matter how dismal things might seem.”
Follow Me Back is gripping and emotionally powerful. Filled with love, friendship, family, laughter and surprises, but most of all hope. Kale and Hope’s world’s will collide in ways they could never have expected when neither of them can settle for just one night, when their hearts are hung on hoping for forever.
“I want you in a way I’ve never wanted anyone. Not ever. But I’m afraid I’m not capable of being the man you see because there isn’t a whole lot of that guy left. I lost him a long time ago. I live for the people around me. For my job. My friends. Their families. My patients. I’ve walked that line for a long, long time. The straight. The narrow. Never veering from my path. But as hard as I try to stop it, colliding with you feels unavoidable.”
Jackson is a master at writing swoon-worthy leading men and fiercely amazing female leads. Come fall in love with Kale, Hope, Evan and Jenna, and revisit with our favorite characters from Hunt Me Down and Show Me the Way.
Audio Review from Jan 2019
This story was amazing.
Focused on a single mother of a little boy with quite a birth defect. That however didn’t slow him down one bit.
Clever and witty at times and pulling on those heart strings at times.
The end made the entire story worth it!
I would recommend this to anyone

This book…OMG This book just broke me.!!!
My heart was drowning in emotions, and I couldn’t stop myself from crying even if I tried.
Kale and Harley Hope’s romance was so sweet, full of drama and had all the feels…A.L.Jackson really out done herself with this book her words cascading all over me ,saturating me with every sentiment.
Sexy single doctor Kale believes he doesn’t deserve happiness after something in his past leaves him eaten up with guilt because he couldn’t save someone he loved.
Harley Hope is running away from a bad marriage with her adorable son Evan who has a heart problem, she is trying to start a new life, but her Husband won’t leave her alone…Honestly I hated Dane with a passion,he made me so angry I wanted to scream.
Kale was a godsend to Harley and her son and Harley and Evan was Kale’s saviour too, they are a perfect antidote to eachothers pain and what happened in their pasts.Which unexpectedly links them in a way that they never even could have imagined.
I was on the edge of my seat at one point in this book as revelations are revealed and my jaw was on the floor……and that ending just stole my heart away.
I loved Kale and Harley and Evan is just so cute and adorable, the way Kale treated him it was so sweet and warmed my heart.
Follow Me Back is another sensational and breathtaking book by A.L.Jackson I Loved reading it and enjoyed every single bit of it.
A Beautiful read that I highly recommend.
5 Fabulous Stars
Fight for the ones you love.
This author writes some beautiful book. This story is everything and exactly what I love in a book. AL Jackson has made me a fan of her words.
If you are looking for that story that will give you all the feels then Follow Me Back is perfect for you and it is a fantastic addition to Fight for Me series.
Kale, the hot alpha caring doctor and Hope, the sassy, protective mom have both been dealt a tough card but it is their determination to persevere that keeps them moving forward. After a couple of chance meetings, they were about to find out how closely their lives were actually intertwined.
I had the added benefit of listening to the audio version of this story and the narrators did a fantastic job which absolutely added to my enjoyment of this book!
Don’t get me wrong, Follow Me Back is a great second chance romance, but I just did not like it as much as I did Show Me the Way and Hunt Me Down. There was just something missing.
Follow Me Back is Kyle and Hope’s story. We first met Kyle in Show Me the Way as the sexy doctor. Hope is the cute coffee shop owner. I liked Kyle in the previous books, however something irked me about him in Follow Me Back. It felt like that at times he only thought of himself and he was being so indecisive for big portion of the book. I really wanted to yell at him to grow a pair.
I really liked Hope because even though her situation was not easy, she remained strong and did not cover away when things got tough.
Overall, Follow Me back might not be A.L. Jackson’s best work, but it is still worth the read.
Another excellent, emotional read by A.L. Jackson. Kale and Hope were an amazing couple to lose yourself in. Plus the angst.
This was took a bit for me to get into. I don’t really know why I loved the characters and the story. But once I really gave it a chance it hooked me. Definitely wanted to knock Kale out in some of this. His misplaced anxiety I get what happened was horrible but he shouldn’t have blamed himself especially when we find out certain things about the situation near the end of the book. I loved Hope she stood up for what she wanted and what she felt she deserved. Looking forward to reading Ollie’s story next.
This book is funny, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
This series has totally stolen my Heart.
Heart…I swear there was no pun intended.
This is one of the most beautiful books I’ve ever read. Kale and Hope touched me and filled me with hope and love and, OMG, I’m trying so hard not to spoiler.
Kale is a sexy, cocky doctor who lives for his friends and his job. But underneath that confident façade there is a broken heart still grieving.
Hope is resilient, strong and so tired of fighting alone, but at the same time she knows her goal, the reason she wakes up in the morning, her whole heart are worth fighting for.
When they meet, it seems that it couldn’t be in a worse time. They are both struggling with their own demons, but hope has a way of changing you, changin your perspective and you end up throwing caution to the wind and loving and hope with all your heart.
They all had such a hard time in the past and now they are battling the fight of their lives, quite literally.
The struggle in this book was so realistic, it was so different from what you read and it was wonderful to have something so raw and real to read.
They were forced to learn how to get vulnerable and love again, how to let the past behind and accept the grief as a good memory from the past. They also had to learn how to love and hope when everything seems so dark and unapproachable.
There were so many wonderful scenes, so touching and heartwarming (God, I want to say more).
I finished this book a few days ago, but I’m still feeling it. This author knows how to build a compelling and addictive story like many people can’t.
It had the perfect amount of heat angst, wonderful and sweet moments, suspense, fear and lots and lots of hope and love.
Working slowly through the audiobooks I purchased through Audible, as I’ve put my account on hold mostly. Other than signing up for their new program of $2.95 a month for certain audiobooks that you can listen to, but aren’t yours to keep. But anyway, this one was really good. This book had soooooo many emotions! And so much steaminess. I was yelling at the characters as I listened, but still loved it all the way. I didn’t understand exactly why his friends were such a big part at the beginning, but then for a while they were not really part of the story. I felt that was kind of weird, but in the end, it all worked. Great story. Look forward to reading more in this series.
Hope, what a perfect name for the heroine. Because each day for her is filled with hope. Even being broken does not deter her hope for the better.
Kale, handsome, dreamy and swoon worthy. He’s determined to show how good things can/should be. Even when he’s dealing with his own drama.
There are so many surprises, so much angst, so much growth and an unprecedented amount of strength in this novel. The path to Hope and Kale’s happiness, their connecting, their healing is led by Evan.
If heat, passion and desire are what you need in a relationship, a story, your next read, Follow Me Back is the novel you want. A.L., you’re simply the best.
Weirdly, Kale’s story was not one I was invested in when I read book 1 in the Fight for Me series. I mean he was funny, handsome, supportive and Ollie & Rex’s ride or dies…great with kids. As it started, I was still meh…not because it was poorly written or anything but because I wanted Ollie’s story lol. But AL Jackson grabbed me early on and didn’t let go. I loved the suspense of not knowing the whys of things, the hows of things, and as always with her books, she has that pivotal moment that requires nothing more than just finishing all the words. With every book of hers that I read, the more I want to dive into all the books and just bask in the beauty that are her words.
*4,5 stars*
I’ve been reading this author’s books for a while now and have been loving them. It was another hit for me. Can’t wait for the next one in this series!
For a long time now, Kale has been determined that he isn’t cut out for the family life, not after losing the one woman he loved more than anyone. He has always blamed himself for losing her and hasn’t let anyone close to him. But when he meets Hope, he can’t seem to leave her alone and when she finally agrees to go out with him, only for one date, he’ll fall even harder for her than he imagined. But will he let his walls down?…
Hope has been doing whatever she can to make a life with her son after walking away from her husband but it’s not easy. She’ll do anything to keep her son safe. The least she expect is for someone like Kale to come into her life like he does. Their chemistry is undeniable and every time they get closer, she lets her guard down a little bit more. But will it be enough?… Both will fight for what they love in the end but will Hope finally be free of her husband’s threats…?
A moving story of a man learning that he does deserve love and a woman fighting for her child. There is friendship, shared history, shared tragedy, personal demons, and determination throughout. Well edited.
Kale is focused on two things – his work and his friends. He has a personal tragedy in his life – one he blames himself for entirely. And, he has a shared tragedy with his group of friends. So much loss. And then one day, he sees Hope. Both literally and figuratively. Something shifts in his world, and he finds himself pursuing a woman where he hasn’t in ages. Hope has a singular focus – her son. She doesn’t believe she has room for the distraction that Kale represents. The health and well-being of her son is paramount. Will Kale break down her walls and get her to let him in? Will Hope become more than Kale has ever envisioned? Will he believe in his ability to love and also do his job? With so much on the line, will Hope trust Kale with herself and her son?
There are so many things to relish in this book. Chief among them is the joyful Evan (not to mention his interaction with Frankie Leigh!). Despite all he is faced with, Evan embraces life and finds joy in living. The rest of the ‘family’ are present – Rex and Rynna, Ollie, Nikki, Lillith and Brody. There are hints to the mystery of Sydney. And, it is very satisfying to see the bad guy get his in the end. Enjoy!

NO SPOILERS!
Follow Me Back was a sexy, emotional, and heartbreaking yet beautiful story about love, loss, and fighting for those you love. A.L. Jackson did a wonderful job with the storyline and characters, and I enjoyed her writing style. It was a little wordy and overly descriptive at times, but beautiful nonetheless. Follow Me Back put my heart and mind through the wringer, and it took a toll on my mental well-being. While I’ve mostly enjoyed the Fight for Me series so far, I’m going to have to take a break and recover for a while before starting the final standalone, Lead Me Home.
The storyline was good, but had some elements that I didn’t care for. It was full of heartbreak, despair, and anguish, but also love, laughter, and fighting for those who own your heart. I definitely experienced a roller coaster ride of emotions while reading Follow Me Back, and although they weren’t always pleasant, I still enjoyed going on the journey. There were a few parts and aspects that I truly hated, and they were the reason I couldn’t give Follow Me Back a full five stars.
The characters were excellent, except for one. Kale and Hope owned my heart from the start, and I completely fell head over heels in love with them. Kale was my favorite kind of hero: sexy and charming with a heart of gold. He owned me, body and soul. Hope was my favorite kind of heroine: strong-willed, independent, loving, and determined to fight for those she loved. She also owned me, body and soul. I loved Kale and Hope’s personalities and smoking hot chemistry together, and how their relationship progressed throughout. I loved reading the book from both Kale and Hope’s point of view, and all of their banter and interactions with each other. Hope’s son, Evan, was a very special and sweet little boy, and he stole my heart as well. Most of the secondary characters, namely Kale and Hope’s friends, were amazing, and I loved them so much. The antagonist, however, was extremely awful and vile, and I loathed him with my entire being. He was the worst part of the story and the main reason I couldn’t give Follow Me Back a full five stars. If he hadn’t been involved in the storyline, it would’ve been a five-star read for me. Despite all of the ups and downs, and trials and tribulations, Kale and Hope’s story was very memorable and I was happy with the conclusion.
Follow Me Back was an extremely sexy, angsty, and emotional standalone contemporary romance in the Fight for Me series, and while I didn’t love everything, I would HIGHLY recommend it! A.L. Jackson created something truly beautiful and unforgettable with Kale and Hope’s story, and even though it put me through an emotional wringer, I was very pleased with the outcome. The Fight for Me series has been quite an adventure so far, and although I’ll be taking a break from it for a while for the sake of my mental well-being, I’m definitely looking forward to reading Lead Me Home.
I can’t describe much about this book because you have to read it!!!!
It’s so sweet, beautiful, gut-wrenching, sexy as hell, heartbreaking, sad but it won’t make you put it down. This book will make you smiling like an idiot and then make you crying hard.
I absolutely recommended this book for you guys. You don’t have to read the first book, Show Me The Way because it’s standalone
A.L. Jackson hit it out of the park with this one! Dr. Kale Bryant…wowza!!! Loved this sexy, sweet, cocky, but yet vulnerable man. I laughed, I cried and I rooted for Hope, Kale and Evan to find their HEA.
In AL Jackson’s newest addition to the Fight For Me series, we find Kale fighting his attraction to Hope. Call it chemistry, call it Fate, call it love at first sight, but the power of these two have cannot be denied. Despite how much both of them try.
This book made me want to throw my hands up in the air at the cruelty of fortune and fate. Why both? Because it gave Kale and Hope everything they needed at exactly the wrong time. And just when you think life has thrown everything at them they can handle, new wounds open for them to stem the bleed.
The underlying battles these two have to face in order to be together are gripping. There love is spectacular. This is a story that will not leave your mind for quite some time
