They say everyone has either an addiction, obsession, or weakness in this world. Something that can penetrate you down to the core and influence you in a way nothing else can. I have all three. One happens to be her. Kit Bishop is in my veins. But unfortunately for me, she’s the drug I’ll never be able to indulge in and the high I can’t chase. Because I’m a liar. A thief. And I’ve destroyed … liar.
A thief.
And I’ve destroyed everything that’s ever been mine.
Author Note: This is a three-book series previously titled: Complicated Parts, book 1, 2, and 3.

This was one phenomenal book! When you bring together two damaged, torn people under the most unusual circumstances, you have to be ready for just about anything.
Kit and Preston are not your average couple. Their past and their present bring us the knowledge of why and how they met, and wowza, these two are nothing like you’d expect. Boundaries are crossed, lines blurred and redrawn, and you’re taken to a whole new level of insanity.
I loved them, hated them, and loved them again! Yet, there’s more to come, and this epic tale will keep you hanging around for more!
Wow is about all I could say after I finished this book. I truely felt like I understood every emotion and thought that these characters had. Every word was perfectly chosen to make you feel everything. I was crying, laughing, yelling and smiling and sometimes I was doing more than one at the same time. I loved every single part of this book and can’t wait for book 2.
Just when she blew me away with her Complicated Hearts duet, Ashley Jade has managed to leave me questioning the fluidity of sexuality and how two people can be so perfect for each other, yet fight against everything telling them to be together.
Preston and Kit are a slow burn. This isn’t going to be what you want unless you like watching characters fall in love and not realize it. And not because of some silly reasoning, but because every fiber of their being is telling them it isn’t possible.
So, when you start this, just know you’re in for the long haul. You’re in for the slow burn, the pain, and the people.
You’re going to be asking how in the hell these two people can ever come together. You’re going to ask yourself why they can’t see it. You’re going to want to know how it’ll all work out.
Is this love in the cards?
Or will they continue to crash and burn?
This isn’t your conventional romance. This is a slow burning story about two damaged characters who are hurting and confused. Who keep getting obstacles thrown in their path, who have a baffling connection with each other that doesn’t seem to go away. It’s about two people who are brought into each others lives when they need someone the most, brought together through circumstances they have no control over. Two people who should be enemies but who don’t hate each other quite as much as they should, but they’re not exactly friends either…I guess you could say it’s complicated.
I’m probably in the minority here but I absolutely adored Preston from the start. The messed up, damaged bad boy who wants what he can’t have. The man who can’t get ‘the angry girl with the sad eyes’ out of his mind. I just clicked with him, I got why he does what he does, why he’s the way he is. I found it unbelievably easy to get into his head and as I found out more about him, I was done, head over heels in love with him. He’s my man. Yes he can be selfish, standoffish with a devil may care attitude but there’s something about him that calls to me.
Both characters in this book are complex and damaged. They have traumatic pasts and their pasts have had a big part to play in the people they are today. Kit struggles to deal with her insecurities quite a lot. She’s bent, not quite broken but you know it’s only a matter of time before something happens that will either break her completely or give her the strength to take her future and make it what she wants it to be. Kit broke my heart. She infuriated me at times, but mostly I just really wanted her to be happy. She’s so desperate to be loved and accepted for who she is that it’s quite heartbreaking at times.
One of the things I loved the most was the back and forth banter between Kit and Preston and it provides some more light hearted moments when you’d least expect them.
I adored this book. There’s a lot of things in this book I can relate to, so these characters quickly burrowed into my heart. There’s betrayal, angst and an unwanted but deep connection between the characters, a connection that tethers them together even if it’s the last thing they want. Ashley Jade brought her A game with this book. I couldn’t put it down. It gave me all the feels and I’ve already read it more than once. I can’t wait for more from Preston and Kit.
I’m not even sure where to begin with this review! I had very impatiently been waiting for this book so once I had it in my hands I didn’t ever want to put it down. Kit and Preston had wrapped themselves around my heart pretty quickly. Their story is beautiful and complicated and unlike anything I’ve ever read before. It’s a story of redemption, friendship and love. This isn’t your typical love story…..it’s so much better.
What can I say about a book that totally blew me away?!! You will find Preston and Kit in the Complicated Hearts Duet but you don’t have to read those to love this book. This is also the first part of a duet and I am very eager to find out how this amazing, crazy and beautiful story ends. I can almost guarantee you’re not going to like Preston, but I do see his redeeming qualities underneath, so I think he isn’t beyond help. I’m going to reserve my opinion until I read the second book. I love Kit so much, she’s like I was growing up, wanting to see the best in everyone, loving too hard and wanting to shut yourself away from the world when someone rips your heart out and stomps on it. This book took me through ALL the feels where I was crying and then laughing through my tears. I highly recommend this book (I also recommend you read the Complicated Hearts duet) because if you’re as big of a fan as I am of this author’s books, I promise you will not be disappointed!! Enjoy!!
As a reader there is nothing I love more than to be swept away by a story that sinks into my very pores and moves me. Complicated Parts(Book 1) is not your conventional romance by any means. It’s a unique, complicated, and angsty slowburn that captivated me from the first page and left me wanting more of this author’s phenomenal writing.
Kit Bishop and Preston Holden are two of my absolute favorite characters. I fell in love with them both in Complicated Hearts and couldn’t wait for more of them. Both are damaged and broken in their own ways. Kit is loyal, sweet, sassy, and vulnerable. The more I learned about her and what makes her tick and her past the more I loved her. Preston Holden intrigued me from the very beginning. His character is quite the enigma yet there is so much more to him than what he presents to the world. Yes, he’s arrogant, funny, reckless and wild but once you begin peeling back his layers he’ll steal your heart.
Complicated Parts is a unique, angsty slowburn unlike any I’ve read before. It’s complicated, raw, messy, and will burrow itself into your heart. I love that the author took a chance and broke the mold on what’s expected and gave me an extraordinary and captivating story that I won’t soon forget.
I don’t even know what to say about this story! We met Preston and Kit in Complicated Hearts and I’ve been waiting for their story. This was to be one big book but now it’s in 2 parts. I’d say this is an unconventional romance. Two characters with an indescribable connection. Heartbreaking but funny. Hard to explain! Just read this series and CH before it. Oh and AJ’s other books too!!
Well what can I say Ashley has smashed it again?
CP is a slow burn romance that gives you all the feels and leaves you wanting more. I cannot go into details with this review because I will just end up spoiling it so I am going to be vague.
I loved two characters Kit and Preston I am so glad Ashley wrote their book. I would suggest reading Complicated Hearts Duet. As you get some insight to these characters in these books too, and they are also great reads.
Kit is such a fascinating character to me I always wanted to know her story.
Preston well he is in a league of his own, you cannot help but love him he will win your heart over she is that Arrogant. The story flows perfectly and you cannot but help fall in love with the characters’ they are so well developed Ashley has brought them to life. Again thank you Ashley for another amazing book I am in awe of your writing and the way you write a book that just draws you in and has you hooked.
I’m loving this story so far. We’re taken back to the beginning where it all started. How Kit and Preston met, the circumstances that joined them together and the unusual connection between them.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve never read Complicated Hearts because there’s enough of their history explained so you won’t feel lost. I just loved the trip down memory lane.
I liked how it set the scene it gave me a better understanding into these two and just how complicated their lives have been.
These two are a mess of epic proportions. To me Kit is a dreamer who wears her heart on her sleeve and craves affection for all the wrong reasons. You just can’t help but adore her though she’s a sassy little spitfire with a heart of gold and you’d be lucky to have her as a friend.
Preston well this guy is arrogance personified he has a lot of issues that he hides with his vices.
I loved getting to know him more, to understand what drives him act the way he does. My heart kinda broke for him if I’m honest. Preston comes across as a jerk but I think it’s intentional. This guy has a great poker face so no one sees the real him.
This book really sets the scene nicely for part two. The slow burn and attention to detail has me desperate to see what fate has instore for these two. It’s definitely getting more complicated by the minute and the stakes just got a lot higher.
I loved this book because of its unconventional nature. It doesn’t fall into the typical stereotype for a romance novel.
It makes you think that anything is possible and not everything is black and white.
If you’re sitting on the fence over this book then take a chance on Preston and Kit. They’re worth the gamble and may just surprise you.
5*
Firstly I have lived in anticipation of Kit & Preston who were first brought to my attention in Complicated hearts & boy did they Shout!
The book really explains the whole story how they met the circumstances & background without confusing or conflicting back & forth.
Kit is such a huge character who shows her heart to everyone & falls in love constantly despite the hurt & lies that get thrown her way because of her sexual preference.
Preston has such a selfish attitude & a terrible gambling addiction but he’s about to take the biggest gamble of his life will he be able to do the thing he needs to do the most to protect the person he feels protective off.
Becca is such a twisted person using people to her own advantage keeping secrets but they have a habit of been found out.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Brilliant must read
Complicated Parts is a fitting title for this story cause boy is it complicated. This is the kind of book that steals your attention right away and leaves you desperate for more.
This story is unique but still 100% Ashley Jade, the way this author puts words together is simply beautiful. The characters are flawed but this just makes you love them and their story more. And for once I am at a loss of which character is my favourite Kit and Preston both made me love them.
Complicated, emotional, humerous, gripping and unique, this story has been one of my favourite reads this year. If your looking for something different and your not afraid of assholes, flawed characters and a story that will consume you then this is definetly the book for you!
Kit and Preston were a beautiful train wreck. Seriously, what the heck did I just read?!
The betrayals, the pain, the loss—it was intense! And don’t even get me started about Kit’s nanna… geez, that woman is the spawn of satan.
Despite all of my angry rambling I am DESPERATE to read more of their story. I want to know all the things!
What an incredible story! I loved everything about it, and I can’t wait for more! Bravo! 5 stars!
Don’t they have more than five stars?????!!!! Because this book needs them all!! Ashley Jade brings her serious “A” Game to Complicated Parts-Book 1. Her writing is so visceral and totally gets under your skin. Her words have power and purpose.
This book is Kit and Preston’s story. It’s intense and raw and painfully beautiful. Her back story of these characters was impeccable and I love how she had me remembering some of the best parts of Complicated Hearts and why I have so much affection for these characters. The leap she made from past to present was surprising and unexpected and at first it jammed me up because I needed more from the past, Yet Ashley spun her web and it was seamless and appropriate.
Preston is a hot mess but I love him hard! Kit is a disaster with the biggest heart ever and my new favorite color is Pink! They need each other so much but their chaotic lives and old habits thwart them at every turn.
I cannot wait to see where they wind up and what is sure to be some stunning twists.

You know the this series is going to be great when you are only half way through the first book and decide to just buy the next 2 books so you can already have it. I could not put this down. I was immediately captured by Preston and Kit and all the drama surrounding them. I can’t wait to start the second book.
Fold by Ashley Jade also known as Book one of Complicated Parts is the second series in the Complicated Hearts Duet. It may not be 100% accurate of a woman not into men but it’s an awesome read so far. I rooting for Preston even if he does have all the wrong parts to make Kit swoon. I still see a major connection btwn these two. It’s hot and when the fire ignites it’s going to be one heck of an explosion. I can already see it. I mean Kit is 100% sure she isn’t into men but she can’t get one in particular out of her head. And she dreams of him nightly. Same for Preston in reverse. He dreams of the spitfire pink haired beauty for three yrs but when she shows up in his town it’s the worst moment ever for her to be entangled in his web. He just lost one million mob dollars. He does not need Kit anywhere near him right now…or ever. But how do you walk away from a friend? You don’t. Or atleast I hope you don’t…we shall see. I to Bluff book 2.
As I started reading I thought it was an interesting premise. Assholish guy tries to soothe a girl who was in love with the girl who is now having his baby. Then, I go back and read the description of the book. The girl is supposed to be a lesbian, yet she and the main guy develop feelings. No. No no no no no. I hate that. Even for the sake of art. No. The lesbian is a lesbian. She will not like the guy romantically. Ever. Ugh. It’s really awful and I hate it. DNF
I was engaged in the story right away. The chemistry, how unconventional the “love interests” are and just the overall flow and twists of the story are entertaining. I always enjoy Ashley Jade’s writing style as well.
Our Hero, Preston Holden, coincidentally meets our heroine, Kit Bishop, during a mutually low point in each of their lives. As the two strangers begin to share their stories of woe, they connect on an emotional level that surprises each of them…until they find out their stories are actually interwoven, thus starts their complicated relationship. Ashley Jade is known for her angsty stories of complicated relationships that seem to weave into one another, and this one is no different. You feel the confusion Preston and Kit experience when they try to deny the connection even though they hate each other for the inadvertent hurt each has caused the other. I can’t wait to see where Ashley takes us with their story.
