Why run from your troubles when you can fly instead? When Caity Shaw is fired from her first job that doesn’t require an elf uniform, her older sister, Rachel, an event planner, hires her to work a meeting in Dublin. Caity jumps at the opportunity to travel abroad and escape her pathetic life. However, even four thousand miles from home, there’s no avoiding debt collectors, an overbearing mother, … overbearing mother, and haunting memories of a controlling ex.
While in Dublin, Caity suffers a series of humiliating mishaps, causing her to lose even more faith in herself. Caity struggles to earn Rachel’s respect—and to keep Declan, her hot Irish coworker, at arm’s length. Declan repeatedly saves Caity’s butt and helps boost her self-confidence, making it difficult to keep her distance from the charming womanizer. When Declan helps her research her Irish grandmother, Caity discovers the mysterious past of the courageous woman she barely knew might hold the answers to her future.

This book made me laugh out loud! It’s the first in a series and I loved every single story. If you need to lighten your day, this book is for you!
Personally, I think it had SO MANY story lines to explore and frankly not enough pages to conquer them all leaving that is left us with loose ends aplenty…and I’m the sort of gal who likes things all tied up. Now don’t get me wrong, it was humor filled, courage inspiring, panic inducing, and swoon inducing…but there was a whole other side of the characters, including our leading lady, that I wish we had a chance to explore. Perhaps in the installments that followed, those wishes were answered, but at this point in time/reading, I was bitten by the travel bug, yet left wanting more. Still it WAS entertaining…and being the start of a series, it does introduce those that seem to be potential key players in said series rather well. Maybe her next trip abroad will not only have her opening up to her own possibilities, both past and present, but to readers as well.

A thought-provoking congenial story of real perplex and mental confusion until we find our true self and directs our path towards it as well as it is really motivating, influential and enlightening for a person who distracts in her life without knowing where to look at that can lead to self-gratification and fulfillment.
Delightfully funny entertaining story. The characters are believable and realistic, as is the plot. Great beach, fireside or uplifting quarantine read. Highly recommend! Looking forward to the next book in this series. Happy reading!
This paperback book was excellent reading and well written. I hated to put book down. Before the end of the book, I was hooked and looking forward to the rest of the books in the series. I highly recommend the book.
Eliza Watson is great. My rating 5+ stars.
Flying by the Seat of My Knickers is the first book I’ve read by this author and it certainly won’t be the last! The main character is Caity Shaw, a young woman whose self esteem is rather low, is hired by her sister who is an event planner to work a meeting in Dublin. Unfortunately the job proves anything but easy for Caity. A series of mishaps, bumps in the road, and unfortunate events do nothing to help her self esteem. Thanks to her co-worker Declan she makes it through and he helps her research her Irish grandmother. I loved the book! So much so that I’ve already bought the next two in the series! The characters are very well written and the story will have you turning the pages! I can’t wait to follow Caity’s adventures in the next book. Highly recommend this book!
I enjoyed this adventure of mishaps. Some are not born graceful as it appears to be with Caity Shaw. But when low self esteem is added to this, I really felt for this character. I received this for free and voluntarily chose to review it. I’ve given this a 4.5* rating and look forward to reading more of her adventures. This story addresses abuse in the mental form and how it can cause us to second guess ourselves. Add stalking by an ex and you can have a mess.
A fun little romance. Love different locales and I liked the characters.
Love this series… on book 5 of 6. :-))
A fun read
Loved this book
Ah to be young again when everything was an adventure. This book took me back to the time that I was young, single, making lots of mistakes that made life so rich.
Many women can identify with the mishaps and sister misunderstandings of the two main characters. It has a happy ending when one learns that she is a capable person.
A fun, easy read. Imaginative characters and situations. Escape from the stress of life and laugh at the antics of these characters.
It’s been a long time since experiencing my first job(s), so this was definitely a book that took me back to ancient memories! I also enjoy traveling so that was another plus this book had! As a first book in a series, I will definitely keep the next books on my TO READ list! I enjoy getting to know the characters as they evolve in a series of books!
Good to read on a rainy afternoon in one sitting. Detailed descriptions of the Irish settings made it special. Liked that the main character was a female American who had never been abroad.
The weakness is the same I find in all cozy mysteries. It leaves a lot of unfinished loose ends that the reader is supposed to follow up in the second book of the series, or maybe not.
A funny, LOL at times, introspective at times story that was a sweet romance without having to depend on pages of sex.
This was a fun book to read. Different and charming
Fun plot and super easy to read. Won’t keep you up at night turning pages but it’s an enjoyable plot with quirky characters.
Adventures in Ireland
Caity Shaw’s new job is in Ireland, working for her sister in event planning. It is a chance to earn enough money to pay off her mounting debts, escape her stalking ex-, and maybe rebuild her sagging self-esteem. She also discovers an added opportunity to explore her family’s Irish heritage.
This is an entertaining book with humor and some serious moments. Caity is a good central character with a lot of room for depth and growth. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
