He can’t stand her, and best believe, the feeling is mutual. Her life is the complete opposite of what he desires. So, why can’t they keep their hands off each other?Forrest Nash is a smug know-it-all. With his brains, ridiculous good looks and penchant for disobeying the laws of both the police and the dark web, Fawn Hill’s resident genius is cockier than any man Penelope Briggs has ever … has ever encountered. It doesn’t help that their six-year age difference makes him completely ineligible in her eyes. Add in the fact that he doesn’t want marriage or babies, and that should eliminate him from the dating pool forever. But it doesn’t mean she can’t sleep with him. Once. Or twice. Or ten times. Against all logic, though, Forrest seems to be sneaking into her heart at the same time he’s sneaking into her bed.
Penelope Briggs is one bossy, obnoxious woman. With three young children, a calendar full of school drop-offs and sports, and enough emotional baggage to fill an airplane, this widow is definitely not what Forrest Nash is looking for. And yet, he can’t get enough of the maddening bombshell. But as their hook-ups become a constant, so does his involvement in Penelope’s life. The things he swore he never wanted, love and kids, seem to be the only things on his mind. And when an attack from his part of the cyber world threatens her safety, he’ll have to admit his feelings for the woman he’d do anything to protect.
What started as a convenient friends-with-benefits situation is quickly growing wings. Even if both parties are trying hard to ignore the flutter.

Goodness gracious!!! These Nash men are thieves! They steal your heart before you even realize it’s in danger of being snatched! This has to be my favorite Nash brother’s story yet! That enemies to lovers feel in this book is through the roof! I loved how they wanted so badly to hate the other. I mean, who knew that someone of the opposite sex could drive you so insanely crazy that you’d want… no, NEED to kiss them senseless. Repeatedly. Who knew they could make your toes curl and your heart ache.
Seriously, Forrest and Penelope are my absolute favorites in this series. They had me laughing and swooning while I stupidly smiled all the time. They might bicker and banter all through most of the book but I see that as their foreplay. I don’t how Carrie Aaron’s is going to top this book. We have sarcasm at its highest levels; we have this cocky playful banter and this thick sexual tension plus the fact that they don’t want to want each other! Yup… totally my favorite Nash! This could be my favorite heroine Mrs. Mrs. Aarons has ever created too. Fantastic book with some of Mrs. Aarons best one liners and detailed writing.
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
Flutter may be my favorite Nash Brothers book by Carrie Aarons. But I feel like that with each new book of this series! Each story is better than the last one. Flutter gave me butterflies in stomach, ache in my heart and a crazy smile on my face.
Forrest is a lot different than his older brothers. A computer genius, uber nerd and expert crime consultant , he feels he doesn’t belong anywhere. And he hides behind a wall of resentment and bitterness which comes out as sarcasm and snark. I loved his all knowing arrogance which added to his sex appeal. It was so heartbreaking to see how everyone doesn’t take him seriously and thinks he is this jerk. But actually he has this most beautiful and compassionate heart which comes out once he commits to Penelope.
Penelope was Forrest’s crush forever but she didn’t realize it until they start this friends with benefit thing. She is still picking up pieces of her broken heart after her husband’s death in war and trying to raise three little angels at her best capacity. Forrest gives her the respite, the excitement, the caring and the escape she needed desperately. But soon it becomes more and they just react without thinking.
This is an age gap and enemies to lover romance set in small town. Penelope and Forrest engage into a battle of caustic sarcasm each time they meet to hide their undeniable attraction. And when they bring the heat to their bed, the pages were melting with the sultry sex! It was a brilliant process where two sceptical and vulnerable soul becomes one. The road was a bumpy one and it was a complete emotional rollercoaster! This is probably Carrie’s hottest book till date and most emotional too.
Flutter by Carrie Aarons is a poignant, explosive, sensual and swoonworthy love story! The writing was just perfect. The characters were amazing and they touched my soul. The emotions left me breathless and warm with happiness!
Received ARC for Honest Review
Flutter by Carrie Arrons is the third in the ‘Nash Brothers’ series, an interconnected standalone books about Keaton, Bowen, Forrest and Fletcher. If you’ve read the first two books in the series (Fleeting(1) and Forgiven(2) then you’ve met them all by now. Keaton and Bowen’s stories were so, so good.
Forrest though? Oh this nerdy bad boy has it all in spades! He’s hot, damned sexy- and he knows it. He’s not your typical ladies man though, because this guy? His heart was stolen a long time ago. He’s been set on one woman, and even though she barely gave him the time of day, and went on to marry her high school sweetheart, his heart wanted only Penelope.
More than ten years have passed since Penelope married Travis, but he lost his life serving his country. Now, Penelope has three kids and is a single mom. She has no time for a relationship and no time for surly, gorgeous Forrest Nash. He riles her up far too easily, but Pen gives as good as she gets.
Dozens of knock backs at a young age have embittered Forrest to love and now all he wants is the sexy good times. Yeah, he picks on Pen whenever he has a chance. It makes his blood run hot seeing her riled up and spitting fire, even if it’s aimed at him.
These two were a chemistry bomb just waiting to explode, and when the opportunity comes they finally take a chance. Over and over again. Hate sex is the best kind it seems. Until they make a pact. No string FWB and no getting attached. Of course, they finally get to know one another and find that they actually do like each other. Funny that, huh?? LOL
These two were HAWT!!! So freaking hot, with some sexy banter and sassy comebacks to boot. But, it was seeing Forrest with Pen’s kids that made me swoon. That boy was made to be a dad.
On a side track, Forrest has a criminal to catch and it’s a plot line that brings Pen and her boys into harm’s way. Forrest has only one way of dealing with the danger.
The wrong way!
Catching up with the two earlier couples was fun too. Now, it’s all down to Fletcher and Presley’s BFF Ryan to finish of the series. Saving the best for last, Carrie?? We’ll find out on July 25th.
Forrest Nash…computer genius and possibly the cockiest of the Nash brothers…was I eager to read about him? Hell yes! Pair him with Penelope who has a strong personality and a heartbreaking past and I knew I was in for some great entertainment!
Forrest Nash is a hacker who has turned somewhat legit working for the local county police department as a Computer Forensics Investigator. However, he lacks social skills and a filter, which made me want to throttle him most of the time. Penelope is a widow and mom of three boys. She’s six years older than Forrest, should not be attracted to him, but the libido doesn’t care about age.
Their hate/lust relationship is like none I’ve ever read before. Not liking each other but loving their chemistry and subsequent sex, they become hook up buddies. It’s pretty hard to leave feelings out of the equation when two people are that attracted to each other, but damn, these two made things difficult! Never fear, their relationship steers from fun and hot to sweet and romantic…who knew that Forrest would bring me to happy tears!
With some mystery and action to make things even more interesting, this shot to the top of my 2019 fave reads!
Oh how I adore the Nash brothers…and I do believe that Forrest is my new favorite! Always wanting Penelope, always just watching from the sidelines as she lived her life…then FINALLY getting his chance. I loved the mystery on the side…and how my new favorite nerd was able to be a hero! I love how all of the books are standalones, but at the same time we are given peeks into what is happening with the other brothers. Can’t wait for Fletcher’s book next!!
Forrest and Penelope are frenimes. They cut each other down at the drop of a hat but there has to be more to it than that. Forrest has had a massive crush on her since they were kids but he was so much younger than her. She was way out of his league. He “loved” from afar until she got married and started having kids. Then he knew his chance was over. After the death of her husband, his hopes got raised. But she still saw him as a kid. Forrest had a long road ahead but did he want to pursue it? Especially since his personality was so self centered?
I adored Forrest. He puts this front out there as if he hasn’t a care in the world and that he care about no one. But that is so far form the truth. His love for his family has no bounds. He would do anything to protect his brothers. Once he gets a taste of Penelope, she is included in his circle as well. Not to mention her 3 boys. As a single mom, Penelope is overwhelmed. She has been doing that for far longer than she has been a widow though. Her mother and mother in law help out and she couldn’t be more grateful. Forrest takes her by surprise when he shows he wants more. How could anyone want to be a part of her crazy life? The banter between them is hysterical. They insult each other with an undertone of seduction there really wasn’t anywhere else for them to go but to fall head over heels.
I really enjoyed this book. Poor Forrest. He has so much depth to him but people only saw what they wanted. He was just misunderstood for too long. It took a while to warm up to Penelope but I’m glad that they got their HEA. I’m really looking forward to reading Fletcher’s book.
Five stars for Penelope and Forrest !!!
I’m so sad that I didn’t read the first two books from this series, but that didn’t matter for my reading this book, because this one is standalone, and you can read it without reading the first two.
But that doesn’t mean that I will not read them .
I really fell in love with Penelope’s and Forrest’s love story. They both broken on some way, but together their little imperfections disappeared.
Penelope showed that even you lose your love of life it doesn’t mean that you don’t deserve another chance and the second love that will be with her till the end of life.
Forrest is one of my favorite male characters. At first, he was one more guy who didn’t care about anything but himself.
And then everything changed…
He became the man that nobody expected only because of Penelope.
I highly recommended this book and can’t wait to start reading the next one in this series !!!
Funny, sexy and and all around great book!
I knew this was going to be a great book! I was so excited for Forrest and Penelope’s story and the author did a fantastic job giving us what we wanted.
Their chemistry is like dynamite, it’s explosive and they heat up the pages. I love their banter, it’s what makes them so perfect for each other. There’s a little suspense with this one too which to me makes it all the better. I adore this!

*Review by Michelle
I think Forrest has become my favorite Nash brother (at least until Fletcher’s book). I thought Bowen was a tortured soul, but Forrest was so much more to me. He may not have showed it outwardly but he really struggled with who he was. I loved how Penelope and he complimented each other well.
Penelope is struggling, struggling with life, her kids and balancing everything. She is a single Mom of three crazy boys who lost her husband unexpectedly and has been dealing with everything on her own. She has a great support system but none of them truly know her struggles. Penelope was such a realistic character, her life is chaos but that is ok. She deals with a lot and I love that we get to see her vulnerability throughout the book. Her boys are amazing.
Forrest has always dealt with the fact that he isn’t like his 3 brothers. He is the odd man in his mind. He is crazy genius and has a tough time in social situations. He chooses to put on an act of the jerk in public to try and deflect from his vulnerability. Forrest and Penelope’s banter will have you laughing.
I love that Forrest and Penelope are able to see through the public masks the other wears. They are able to see the other’s vulnerability and nurture each other. There is plenty of drama surrounding them and it only made them stronger in the end. There were times when I wanted to slap both of them but they needed to work through their issues to get their happily ever after.
Another great book in this series and I am so excited to get Fletcher’s story next.
Gah! I’m not even going to pretend that I am anything but a huge Carrie Aarons fan girl! She seems to know exactly what I like in a romance, and she nails it for me every single time. Flutter was everything I was hoping for and more. It was so romantic, so swoony and so incredibly sexy!
Forrest Nash is a single guy who lives a pretty carefree life. He has never had any interest in getting married or having kids. He’s a bit of a nerd who prefers sitting behind a computer and using his hacker skills for the greater good. Penelope Briggs is a school nurse who is strong, sassy, bossy and downright funny. She lost her husband in the war and is doing the best that she can raising three young boys on her own.
Forrest has lusted after Penelope since he was a young boy. Unfortunately, he was not an option for her due to a six year age gap. But on the night of his big brother’s wedding, the two of them finally end up doing the deed. And one time leads to multiple times as the two can’t seem to keep their hands off of each other. These two have some explosive chemistry so it’s no wonder that they soon develop feelings. But they decide to keep it on the down-low for now. Only that plan quickly crumbles as her safety is threatened, and he is forced to do everything in his power to protect her.
Forrest and Penelope’s story was epic! Their fiery relationship absolutely burned up the pages. This author is wildly creative as she always finds something interesting and fun that makes each of her couples extremely unique. And everything that I love in a romance was here, all wrapped up into a fabulously well written package. The plot was both entertaining and exciting. The whirlwind of events had me completely captivated and furiously turning the pages. If you’re looking for a story about love that’s not always easy, make sure to pick this book up. I loved every single word that I read. Carrie Aarons will always be one of my favorite authors because nobody delivers books like this but her.
Carrie is killing it with these Nash brothers! 5 nash stars for this one!
Meet Forrest Nash, always felt out of place with his family because he’s not athletic, but when his parents got him a computer, he took it apart and put it back together, that was his niche and now he’s employed by the local police force as a hacker. He’s socially awkward, which makes it seem like he’s a jerk, hence why he & widow of three, Penelope don’t get along, until they do!
Can these two conquer their doubts, their insecurities of their feelings for each other.
I freaking love this series by Carrie, grab this one asap!
I’ll admit I was a bit sceptical about the idea of Penelope and Forrest, but I loved their story. Flutter is the third book in the Nash Brothers series!
Penelope Briggs is Fawn Hill’s young widow, single mother of three boys under the age of 10. She is a strong, outspoken, sarcastic, and hides her struggles.
Forrest Nash is one half of the young twin Nash brothers and his intelligence is off the charts. He operates differently than his brothers and honestly most of society. A genius that works for the police station and huge crusher of Penelope. When he gets his in with her can they just have some fun or are they just too different?
Penelope and Forrest have always annoyed each other, but will that resentment and other feelings bring some insanely strong and buring feelings. They are so different that maybe they will be able to find some mutual respect and get to know one another.
Enjoyably Ride
I enjoyed the look into Forrest and Penelope’s past that I new had to be heartbreaking for Forrest, based on his actions in the present.
I throughly enjoyed their story and watching them fall from lust to love.
Sharp writing and engaging characters move Flutter along at a nice pace. I especially appreciate how Ms Aarons does not take the easy way out with her plots and throws in unpredictable elements.
**ARC provided for an honest review.**
Ohhh what a ride this one was. I absolutely adored Forrest in prior books but his story really takes the cake. The push and pull that him and Penelope have always had was magnetic but it is a pure explosion when they are finally together. They just mesh. Her with her zero filter sarcasm matches his every bit of the way. I think that is one thing I loved about this story. I see myself in Penelope and it had me giggling! Then you have Forrest who really doesn’t back down and is your sexy nerd. Kinda see the parallels in this between my life and theirs! I married a sexy nerd too!
Anywho, back to the story. The one thing I love about this series is it’s fluidity. They meld into each other and you get a glimpse of the past brothers but with a focus on the new one. It really adds to the depth of the story and how things play out in their group. I loved the twists that Aarons put in this story as it added a great level of intrigue in it!
One thing I can say, is this series is by far one of the most amazing I have ever read. Flutter does not disappoint as it gives you everything and more. I am so looking forward to Fletcher’s story!
I received an ARC in return for an honest review. I like the enemy to lover angle between Forrest and Penelope. It made the sex even hotter! I definitely like Forrest the best out of all the Nash Brothers. It was a good story but don’t expect much drama or action.
My oh my, do I love me some Nash Brothers!!! With each book I fall more and more in love with each brother. I can’t even pick which one I like best. They are all their own version of perfection. Going into Flutter and it being book 3 in the series we already have an idea of who Forrest and Penelope are so there really wasn’t a huge need for character development so the story really jumps off pretty quickly. Penelope is by far my favorite female character of all the ladies. She’s a young widow raising three boys and rocking the hell out of it and she has no filter!! I will always find a deep kinship with unfiltered characters.
.
What I liked about this book is how it went from a hate relationship to friends with benefits to love but in all actuality it was really a guy who has loved this girl his entire life and finally gets the girl!! Obviously, it doesn’t work out that easily. Complicated emotions and oversized egos keep trying to prevent Penelope and Forrest from having their happily ever after. Throw in nosey friends/sibilings and an over eager friend with not so noble intentions and that really peppers this story with the right amount of drama.
.
(5 out of 5 stars) The Nash Brothers series is currently my favorite small town romance series. Carrie Aarons continues to blow my mind with these characters and their relationships. I can’t even begin to say how grateful I am that she is releasing book 3 and 4 in the same month!!! I can’t wait to devour the last book but at the same time I am going to be so sad to let these characters go.
5 STARS
DAMN…Carrie Aarons has done it again! Got me with all the feels!
Flutter is such a fantastic book that I highly recommend reading!!! It is definitely an EPIC read! Here I thought that Keaton and Bowen couldn’t be beat, watch out ‘cause Forrest is another contender for my favourite Nash brother. I have a feeling that Fletcher is going to be just as lovable a character in Falter. I all the Nash Brothers!!!
Flutter is the third book in the Nash Brother Series. It follows Forrest and Penelope and their incredibly fiery relationship. Their chemistry is off the hook. A love/hate relationship that burns up the pages! Can the so called ‘egotistical and selfish’ Nash brother put someone else first, with that someone having a ready-made family? You’ve got to read to find out!
“We’re like oxygen and flames. Matches and gasoline. And when we mix for just long enough, we burn the whole place down.”
I’ve got to share one of my favourite quotes from Penelope.
“My God, Forrest Nash … I think you’ve transformed from the Beast into a prince right before my very eyes.”… “Yes, but the Beast had a library and you’re a nerd, so it fits more.”
I could not put this book down and need my Nash fix!!!Flutter by Carrie Aarons will definitely join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!
~ Thank you to the author for kindly providing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review!!!
Book 3 in the Nash Brothers Series, Flutter is a frenemies to lovers forbidden type romance that I find irresistible. I am convinced that each of the Nash Brothers books gets hotter, crazier and more exciting than the last. I had conflicting emotions from the beginning of this book. I knew the author had an amazing story in store for me, but Forrest Nash had that cocky persona that really grates on my nerves! And the more I read, the more I couldn’t help but feel that he was using that to hide something!
Penny’s story tugged at my heart right from the beginning. A single mother, through the most tragic of circumstances, she is concentrating on raising her boys to the best of her abilities. She doesn’t lack for support, or help, but still, she’s lonely. Forrest, on the other hand, drives her crazy! As annoying as he is, she can’t stop the explosive attraction that thrums between them whenever they are around each other.
This book was tragic, and amazing. My heart hurt for Penny, but it also held hope, that she would find her happiness, and heal her own heart. I loved the connection between Forrest and Penny, and the hidden secrets of this book sucked me in from the beginning. I couldn’t put it down, had to find out what happened. I won’t say anything else about it, but it sure made for a fascinating story!
