He can’t stand her, and best believe, the feeling is mutual. Her life is the complete opposite of what he desires. So, why can’t they keep their hands off each other?Forrest Nash is a smug know-it-all. With his brains, ridiculous good looks and penchant for disobeying the laws of both the police and the dark web, Fawn Hill’s resident genius is cockier than any man Penelope Briggs has ever … has ever encountered. It doesn’t help that their six-year age difference makes him completely ineligible in her eyes. Add in the fact that he doesn’t want marriage or babies, and that should eliminate him from the dating pool forever. But it doesn’t mean she can’t sleep with him. Once. Or twice. Or ten times. Against all logic, though, Forrest seems to be sneaking into her heart at the same time he’s sneaking into her bed.
Penelope Briggs is one bossy, obnoxious woman. With three young children, a calendar full of school drop-offs and sports, and enough emotional baggage to fill an airplane, this widow is definitely not what Forrest Nash is looking for. And yet, he can’t get enough of the maddening bombshell. But as their hook-ups become a constant, so does his involvement in Penelope’s life. The things he swore he never wanted, love and kids, seem to be the only things on his mind. And when an attack from his part of the cyber world threatens her safety, he’ll have to admit his feelings for the woman he’d do anything to protect.
What started as a convenient friends-with-benefits situation is quickly growing wings. Even if both parties are trying hard to ignore the flutter.

Forrest was such a great story and I love the misunderstood techy geek with the “older woman. This story was jam packed with some great enemy-friends-to lovers heat and banter. I truly loved the dynamics between these two and their struggles were so easy to relate to. And leave it to Carrie Aarons to throw in a little twist just to keep me on my toes. Must must read for all
Penelope married her high school sweetheart and thought she would have her happy ever after however life had other plans when her husband was taken way too early and she was left to raise their three children alone. They are her whole focus and she doesn’t have the time or energy for men or relationships.
Forrest is intelligent, slightly nerdy and a whole lotta sexy. Penelope has had a piece of his heart since he was a teenager but because she is six years older than him she has never seen him as a man. To hide his feelings, he has earned himself quite the reputation with women but all it takes is one night with Penelope to realize that she is all he has ever wanted and now he just needs to convince her.
I think this may be my favorite story of the series. Penelope shows her strength and resilience while Forrest shows the loyal protector he truly is. Hot chemistry, humorous banter, a little suspense and all the feels will have you invested in their happy ever after until the last page.
This series just keeps getting better and better! We finally get Penelope and Forrest’s story! While Forrest has been in love with Penelope since childhood, she’s been living her life after losing her husband and taking care of her kids the best way she can. Missing companionship and getting to know the younger Nash brother, the two decide to act on their spark but in secret. Their chemistry is off the charts, but stigma holds Penelope back. One aspect of this story that sets it apart from the others is the addition of suspense and mystery tied into Forrest’s job. While I loved the romance aspect of this, I was really drawn to and enjoyed the suspense of who the perp was (although it was pretty predictable, definitely didn’t see that ending happening)! I was really glad that both Forrest and Penelope got their happy endings, especially after what the two had been through for so long.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
After reading Keaton and Bowen’s books, I was ecstatic for the twins story. Aarons does not disappoint with Forrest. She showcases Forrest and his unique twin relationship with Fletcher superbly allowing Fletcher’s story to begin building within Forrest more so than the previous storylines with the brothers much like their relationship with each other. I do have to admit this one is my favorite out of the twins. Although, Bowen is my favorite out of all four brothers. His anguish, torment, and sacrifice. That carries over into this story since all four brothers are still very prominent in each others lives. I highly recommend reading the previous books before reading this one or the final book.
I have to admit there were numerous times I cried while reading Penelope’s POV when she ponders her previous life with Travis. It pulled on my heartstrings. It was beautiful when the couple came together. I can’t wait to see how Aarons finishes the Nash brothers series!!
Penelope thought she lost her chance at love when her high school sweetheart and husband was killed in action leaving her with three small children to raise. That has been her sole focus since. That doesn’t keep her from lusting after or dreaming about a certain annoyingly cocky Nash brother which is how she ended up in his bed after her best friend’s wedding. Or how she agreed with a friends with benefits agreement. What she didn’t expect was him showing up with children’s advil the night her son was sick and helping her with the other two while she tended to her sick boy. Or how he lights up every time he sees her. How kind and sweet he is to her children.
The next book in the series is so much more than a simple older woman younger man trope.
I enjoyed all the feelings that this story brings while reading about loss, family and children, friendships and relationships, finding love and hope all over again. I think Forest and Penelope are a great match and their chemistry and intimate moments are an added bonus to their love story.
Life will always give you second chance at everything, it’s u to you to take the most of them.
Where do I start this review because Carrie AArons never ceases to amaze me and The Nash Brothers keeps on getting better and better with each brother.
We get to meet Forrest and Penelope in this story and wow just wow was what I was saying as I was reading it. Forrest I love because he is one cocky and obnoxious SOB and he is arrogant and he knows it all. He prefers to stay in and use his computers to Hack away and help people. He has always known Penelope but she is six years older than him and has a family as she is widowed. But that doesn’t stop them from hooking up at his brothers wedding and then continuing to hook up.
This is where things change for Forrest and he starts to want to spend more time with Penelope but he has always said he doesn’t do love and marriage and kids so what is supposed to do. Then troubles comes to Penelope and Forrest will do anything to keep her safe and prove his love for her and her children.
I’m loving the Nash brothers!! Forrest is a bachelor for life kinda guy and Penelope has the exact opposite crazy life. The banter and Penelope’s strong personality kept me hooked! Looking forward to the next one!
What a great story this was!! Carrie is such an amazing author, and I just love her books! I wouldn’t wait for the rest of the Nash Brother’s books.
Forrest and Penelope know each other as they’ve have a run in once before. By run in I mean a one night stand.
Penelope has so much going on in her life, kids, a widow, work, you name it.
Forrest has just work going on for him, and he’s not looking for any of what Penelope has going on in her life.
They meet up again at his brothers wedding, but of course, once he has her, he can’t have her. Penelope is just looking for some fun, and some great sexplosions. Can she make it work with all the kids, and sports, and the creepy guy that keeps hanging around?
They keep sneaking around, so will anyone finally figure it out?
With nosey family, it’s a given. But what will they do?
Penelope has the kids to think about, and Forrest only has his reputation of a self proclaimed bachelor.
I love how Penelope put him in his place, and didn’t put up with his ego, and smart mouth.
Some of my fave quotes from the book:
1. Because I’ve never before felt the way I do when I’m with her. – AWE!!! Our nerdy hacker is having feels.
2. “Also, I already popped three out of my vagina, so I’m good.” – ROFL!!! Penelope on having more kids. LOL!
3. “Never, Penelope. You deserve to be happy, too.” – YES YOU DO!
4. “Oh, and if you hurt her, I’ll murder you.” Bowen levels me with a sobering gaze. – Bowen is so protective over Penelope even though Forrest is his brother LOL!
The Nash Brothers are all amazing! I loved this book just as much the last!
The banter and relationship that Penelope and Forrest is perfection! The age gap is everything I want to read lately and the remands is written so flawlessly it left my heart Fluttering (see what I did there? )
I will miss these boys when the last Nash Brothers book comes out!
Shes the one that got away, the one that time was cruel with.
Hes wanted her since he was eleven but with six years the difference between them shes only ever been a dream until now!
Once, twice, will thrice be the lucky number? can he make it happen again..
Shes a single parent, widowed and desperately trying to swim against all life throws at her. He was her guilty pleasure whilst under the influence of alcohol.
Is that the real reason she gave him her passion or could it be… naaahh, it couldnt could it??
More of the Nash brothers woohoo!!
Each brother is getting a book and this one belongs to one of the twins, Forrest.
Hes the odd one out, the misunderstood, the man who finds connections hard to make.
His life is his computer, and his family. It’s as simple as that.
Penelope is the lady who has had his attention since high school days. Shes on his wavelength, and always has been.
This book is perfect for a lazy day, the whole series is. It’s that kind of read.
If I had to pick one word to summarise this I would pick “warmth” because that’s how you feel as you read it.
There is so much love that pours off the pages, in many different shapes and forms.
A great read that’s perfect for this small town series.
I cant wait for the next brother to step up. They are truly a fantastic family.
4 stars
Thank heavens, we’re back to flirty, fun and super sexy in Carrie Aaron’s Flutter. After reading Bowen and Lily’s story, I am super happy for the break from the angst.
Forrest has been half in love with Penny since he was a kid, (literally) but the six year ago difference meant she was way out of his league. To her, he was the annoying kid brother of her best friend. But now they’re all grown up, she’s a widow and…well she pretty much hates him.
Forrest and Penelope are like fire and gasoline. By all accounts you should keep these things separate because when they touch, it’s going to be a 5 alarm fire. And boy do they ever ignite! Hooking up wasn’t supposed to happen; it definitely wasn’t supposed to keep happening but these two were on fire for each other. Indulging in a little enemies with benefits situation shouldn’t be a problem, until they start to catch feelings.
I had a love hate relationship with both these characters. In my opinion, they were both immature, although Forrest seems to be the only one labeled that way. Penelope has undoubtedly been through hell but the way she handled their beginning was just ughh. They frustrated me to no end. But when they finally caught fire, they were delicious. Once again I loved all the family and friends in this one and I’m so intrigued by Fletcher’s story!

Flutter is the third title in the Nash Brother’s series, and is my favourite so far. Penny and Forest have insane chemistry and can’t be in the same room without the sparks flying. Their relationship is quite tumultuous, as this pair of enemies embark on a no strings relationship.
I’ve been eager for Forrest’s story, but I wasn’t sure if I was going to love or loathe this cocky and sarcastic hero, who enjoys the perks that come with the bachelor lifestyle. He’s an intelligent, and nerdy hacker who uses his skills for good for the most part to bring criminals to justice. His intelligence is quite isolating and at times he can come across as quite arrogant, egotistical and selfish, but he’s really quite kind, loving and loyal.
Penny is strong, sassy and resilient and several years older than Forrest. She’s a widowed, single working mother to three rambunctious boys who keep her very busy and she has to often hide her true feelings behind sarcasm, gossip and humor.
I loved the banter between this pair. It’s fun, flirty, often argumentative and also quite humorous.
I highly recommend this title to anyone who enjoys a sweet, sexy small town romance with heat, heart and humor.
Ahhhh, this book gave me all the feels! I simply loved Penelope and Forrest’s story and had been looking forward to it for ages. Well it did not disappoint.
Forrest Nash is a sexy, know it all! He’s very smug, slightly arrogant, and extremely clever in a geeky way. But boy did I love him. Ever since he was seven years old he’s had an unrequited crush on Penelope who has always been much older than him and has always seen him as far too young and silly.
Fast forward to present day and Penelope is carrying on her life as a single mum. Widowed since losing her husband in the army, she is battling with her 3 crazy boys on a daily basis, running them around here there and everywhere, whilst also holding down her job of school nurse at the local school.
When Forrest’s older brother got married, Forrest and P had a night between the sheets… a one-off… not to be repeated… except it did… Can Forrest convince Penelope to continue this arrangement. After all Forrest doesn’t want a ‘relationship’.
Marriage and children don’t interest him. And Penelope doesn’t have time for anything more than a bit of fun, and is certainly not interested in introducing a new man into her boys lives.
Except these two have the most amazing chemistry. Their connection was brilliant and loved them. I loved their banter and how they bounced off one another and I loved seeing how their feelings developed into so much more over time.
But when a cyber-threat that he’s working on looks like it may threaten Penelope directly, Forrest has only one concern.
A brilliant story mixed with a lovely amount of suspense. It was romantic, sexy and fun! I couldn’t put this down and can’t wait to read Falter.
Penelope has a busy life. Mother of three boys and widow, her days are dedicated to her children and her work. The last thing she needs in her life right now is one more complication. Especially one in the form of Forrest Nash, arrogant, annoying, too young for her, but handsome as sin. And incredible in bed.
Forrest is a genius. Very smart, he has always dealt better with books and technology than with people. Working for the police department, using his skills as a hacker, he lives in his own world, and immersed in this digital network, real life for him is a challenge, where interacting and understand emotions is a big problem. Too bad the only person he’s interested in hates him with all her might.
With the help of fate and some doses, these two always end up together in bed in some situations. And when the haze of passion dissipates, Penelope returns to her daily routine of hating him. But what if Forrest can convince her that this no string attached arrangement can be something permanent, will she accept it? And will he gradually make her see him as a man, and not as the nerd of the past?
Penelope is afraid of falling in love again. And with guilt for betraying her husband’s memory. How a woman with a family should proceed to return to the world of dating and relationship is the great issue of the character. How to be a woman, without leaving aside the role of mother. Serious and deep questions that show the character starting over again after a tragedy.
Forrest on the other hand, was always misunderstood and felt excluded. This facet full of sarcasm, charm, and insults is the way he deals with the fear of rejection. Having been in love with Penelope since he was a teenager, he was rejected, and now when he finally has a chance, he will go the extra mile to show her that he may be the one.
A little suspense and action are part of the narrative, and when Forrest’s work puts Penelope in danger, he will go to the ultimate consequences to protect the woman he loves.
I liked the couple, all the personal questions were approached sensitively, the chemistry between them is explosive, the Nash brothers are wonderful, Forrest’s interaction with Penelope’s children is cute and the narrative is well written.
A good novel, with a few hints of drama, and well developed.
Forrest and Penelope aren’t a match made in heaven. She’s a brassy military widow with three young boys making life work with sheer force of will and a good support system. He’s six years younger and too smart for his own good. A computer hacker wiz who works for the cops and spends a lot of time in the grey areas that might not be legal. He’s a twin and they are the youngest of the four Nash brothers, he’s a bit insecure and it manifests as sarcasm and boasting. He’s not favorite Nash but he’s a good match for Penelope once they figure out how they work together.
One thing I really liked was that he’s been attracted to her since he was a kid, even if it wasn’t socially appropriate his big brain knew that he wanted her and he waited until the time was right. It’s not an easy match, they’re crazy hot for each other but don’t necessarily like one another. There is a bit of a danger twist in the story which ramps things up. The kids are cute. The story is more full and rich with the Nash clan in and around the small town as family and friends. It’s told from both pov which is my favorite.
Gah! I loved this story so much!
These Nash brothers are everything. I keep thinking one is my favorite, just to have the next brother take the top spot! Forrest Nash is everything and I fell completely head over heels for him.
I love enemies-to-lovers stories and this was a special one. Penelope lost her husband to war, years ago and Forrest has been in love with her since they were young. I really enjoyed watching their relationship grow and work around Penelope’s kids and all the other bumps in the road they run into.
The dash of mystery that was added to the plot of this story was perfect! I’ll admit, I figured out who it was really early on but that didn’t spoil the story for me. I still loved every minute of it.
I can’t wait to dive into Falter, Fletcher’s book! While I will be sad to see this series end, with the last brother’s book, I just know it will be as amazing as the other books in this series.
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
I just love those Nash brothers. This is the third book in the series and one of the twins will get their story told. I’m was already eagerly awaiting this one because Penelope is a single mom and she’s Lily’s best friend. Penelope and Forrest have their own brand of humor that I like. I did laugh a lot while reading this one. I really liked Forrest. He’s a nerdy guy with glasses. I could instantly picture him. There is more to him then what he projects to the world and he’s not just defined by his brain. That’s something Penelope needs to find out on her own because if she doesn’t she may pass up on love for a second time. I loved the scenes with Forrest and Penelope’s boys. They are some heartwarming moments for sure. Plus it shows that Forrest has more depth to him. While Penelope and Forrest navigate their way there is also trouble a foot in this small town. That’s where Forrest’s brain and computer skills come into play. This book had me right from the beginning. I just adore the characters in this series. This book had heart, heat, humor, and a little suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Oh My Goodness Forrest Nash I’m in love!!! All the Nash brothers give you the feels but Forrest is by far my favorite!!
Thank you Carrie for always writing characters with such passion and honesty!! You have a unique ability of making flawed characters seem flawless and leave me wanting more!!!
Fletcher has some big shoes to fill!
Forrest and Penelope just make my heart happy! Forrest is totally irresistible and swoon worthy. I love how he grew as a person through this story and how his feelings developed more seriously for Penelope. I feel like I could relate to Penelope as a mom. You can really get the sense of how overwhelmed she is as a single mother, but also how successful she is handling everything thrown at her.
Their chemistry is off the charts! I love how witty they are with each other, yet how sweet and loving they are! Another Nash brother story that will make you fall further in love with their lives! Now onto Fletcher!!
Oh man… how I LOVED Flutter! Carrie Aarons never disappoints! Book three in the Nash Brothers series; Flutter tells the story of one of the Nash twins, arrogant yet charming Forrest, and the sweet; but sassy widow Penelope! An enemies to lovers story that proved that opposites really do attract and can be scorching hot in the process! I was drawn into Flutter from the very beginning and couldn’t wait to see Forrest and Penelope’s love story unfold! I really love all the Nash brothers; but Forrest has stolen my heart! I can’t wait to see where Carrie takes us next with Fletcher’s story in Falter!
