An all-new STANDALONE from New York Times bestselling author Julia KentIt all started with the wrong Help Wanted ad. Of course it did.I’m a professional fluffer. It’s NOT what you think. I stage homes for a living. Real estate agents love me, and my work stands on its own merits.Sigh. Get your mind out of the gutter. Go ahead. Laugh. I’ll wait.See? That’s the problem. My career has used the term … problem. My career has used the term “fluffer” for decades. I didn’t even know there was a more… lascivious definition of the term.
Until it was too late.
The ad for a “professional fluffer” on Craigslist seemed like divine intervention. My last unemployment check was in the bank. I was desperate. Rent was due. The ad said cash paid at the end of the day. The perfect job!
Staging homes means showing your best angle. The same principle applies in making a certain kind of movie. Turns out a “fluffer” doesn’t arrange decorative pillows on a couch.
They arrange other soft, round-ish objects.
The job isn’t hard. Er, I mean, it is — it’s about being hard. Or, well… helping other people to be hard.
Oh, man…
And that’s the other problem. A man. No, not one of the stars on the movie set. Will Lotham – my high school crush. The owner of the house where we’re filming. Illegally. In a vacation rental.
By the time the cops show up, what I thought was just a great house staging gig turned into a nightmare involving pictures of me with an undressed star, Will rescuing me from an arrest, and a humiliating lesson in my own naivete.
My job turned out to be so much harder than I expected. But you know what’s easier than I ever imagined?
Having all my dreams come true.

Laughing out loud funny and as delicious as a can of fluff!
Can’t wait for Perky now.
Fluffy is a laugh riot! I made the mistake of reading the book in public, and now there are places I’m not allowed to frequent anymore. Evidently, laughing like a mad woman at things other people can’t see is frowned upon in some establishments. I have to admit, it was bad. I’d get myself under control only to have Julia lob another hysterically outrageous situation at me. Then it would begin again. Luckily, I was sitting close to the restroom, or the tears would’ve been running down my legs instead of my cheeks.
Besides being one of the funniest books I’ve read in a while, Fluffy is also so stinkin’ romantic. You’re pulling for Mallory and Will from the moment they show up on the page together, even if she is holding a string of anal beads that she thinks is a dog’s chew toy. Like I said, one hysterically outrageous situation after another, in the best possible way.
Fluffy is the perfect easy-going weekend read. It’s lighthearted, sexy, and laugh out loud hilarious. Mallory is totally relatable, and Will is a complete sweetheart, so it’s easy to root for this pair. The romance is a bit of a slow burn, but the story moves at a good pace with one crazy situation after another, so it feels like things happen faster than they do. I love that not only did I fall in love with the romantic couple, but the secondary characters are just as rich and interesting. This is a story that pulls a reader in and doesn’t let go. One of those that you just want to dive into and stay there. We do get a nugget of lead in for whatever comes next for this crazy group of friends, and I can’t wait to see where that goes. Until then. I’ll be recommending Fluffy to anyone who enjoys a good RomCom.
A funny contemporary romantic comedy. This is one of the funniest LOL books I have Had the pleasure to read. Mallory is a funny lady and gets herself in big trouble especially when she doesn’t charge her phone. Will is just the guy for her, how can he not be? He is the ultimate crush and handles Mallory’s quirky behaviour. Mallory has some great friends and I hope they each will have their own stories. A definite light hearted book that I enjoyed reading tremendously
Julia Kent books are always fun to read. With hilarious scenes, every book is a feel-good book. But every book also has a few scenes where the MC gets into his/her head and starts a real in-depth though process. I always end up reading those scenes a few times to make sure I could get as deep as the thoughts needed. Fluffy was the same fun book to read, but Mallory was in her head, deeply, A LOT more than other MCs. So it took me a lot longer to read this book than I expected.
I love that Mallory is her own woman, even as a teenager, and that she does what she feels is right, no matter what any one else thinks.
If Julia Kent isn’t already a one-click author for you, check out this book and I’m sure it’ll change your mind!
I was given this ARC book in exchange for my honest review.
In true Julia Kent style another funny, believable, feel good story. This grabs you from the start and never slows down. Mallory and Will are both likeable, a little insecure but able to finally get it together. And their parents, oh my. Different and yet similar. And don’t feel bad Mallory, I didn’t know what a “fluffer” was either!
Will and Mal are a welcome addition to the Julia Kent Couples Hall of Fame. Their quick repartee and humor, deep connection and attraction all combine to their ultimate “rightness” as a couple. And to the mix a group of crazy but forever loyal besties and well intentioned but perpetually interrupting parents, and you have quite the read. And reread.
Fluffy is my new favorite!!! I could put fluffy down. This will definitely be a book that I will be re-reading often. I highly recommend fluffy!!
Tongue is firmly in cheek during the first portion of this story and had me equally cringing and chuckling over the situation Mallory got herself into due to her naivete. The developing relationship between Mallory and her old high school crush, Will was a bit of a slow burn with misunderstandings and parental interruptions contributing to Mallory’s internal self-doubts.
I’m looking forward to Perky’s (a good friend of Mallory’s) story next.
Back in high school Mallory Monahan had a huge crush on Will Lotham now 10 years later she runs into him when she mistakenly takes a professional fluffer job (which thinks is a home staging job) she found on Craiglist. Boy do things go wrong! I couldn’t put this book down and laughed out loud so many times! Get it and read it!!!
Oh I laughed and laughed at the antics Mallory got up to. What a fantastic, entertaining and enjoyable story so skilfully written to ensure the reader gets maximum pleasure. I adored Will and Mallory and was intrigued at their developing relationship. This is a book you don’t want to miss I highly recommend it to you.
Mallory is a disaster zone – basically if it can go wrong it probably will. And who knew that a professional fluffer was not someone who staged houses to sell but a facilitator on a porn movie. Definitely not Mallory! And if it could get worse, the house she ended up in was raided by the police and it belonged to her unrequited love, Will Lotham. This story was funny, sexy and smart with some real oops moments that make you laugh out loud. The book skips along at a good pace and the characters and secondary characters have wonderful interaction, but when you have friends with the name Perky and Feisty, you can imagine what kind of trouble that brings. Most of Ms. Kent’s books are part of series, but this is a standalone – although I hope it may develop into more.
You know, I get giddy every time I pick up a Julia Kent story, want to know why? Because she creates worlds I want to be in. She weaves stories that make you laugh, characters you can relate to and the swoon and smexiness that makes you blush in all the best ways!
Fluffy is all of the above and then some!
This is the story of Mallory and Will.
Mallory is just everything! She is marching to the beat of her own drum. She made choices and decisions that made her happy. And goodness how I loved her naiveté! However, there is still a lingering unresolved feeling that presents itself when Will moves back to her hometown. Her lifelong crush, her teenaged dream. She never had the cajones to make her feelings known when they were in school together.
She still has some baggage from high school that has never been unpacked. Her friends are amazing and we all need those type of “ride or die” pals in your life! Mallory’s epiphany is what I really related to, the let it go moment. Time to break the chains of other peoples beliefs and expectations and create your own.
Fluffy is a fun romantic comedy that made me laugh out loud, the dialogue is stellar!! Made me want to hug Mallory, and made me swoon in all the best ways!!
Both audio narrated by Erin Mallon and hard copy. Another laugh out loud, fun filled fest by Julia Kent. Erin Mallon does another good narration, I think the audio allows more of Mallory’s inner double awesomeness to shine through. I loved this book and laughed through most of it. The romance, slapstick comedy and interactions abound with the author’s signature snark and wit. Have fun with this one, well worth the read and listen.
Fluffy is a new book in a new series by a favorite author of mine Julia Kent…with that said this book will make you laugh, sigh, have tears in your eyes along with shouting at your e-reader “no that did not just happen!” In this book we meet Mallory who is a fluffer for houses – she stages them for sale, makes them look beautiful and appealing! Mallory has recently lost her job as the company she worked for in her home town closed as the owners chose to retire which leads her to answer an add for a job as a “fluffer”. She thinks this is perfect and replys, what do you know she gets the job, this is where the fun begins!!! Lets just say the job is not what she thought it was and we have police with threats of arrest!!! Here is where Will re-appears, her high school cruse and someone she has worked very hard to forget, he turns her world upside down bringing back everything she has tried to forget! He does the right thing and saves her from arrest, but not from Mallory feeling that she is again the girl in the corner and not one of the “in crowd”.. Will surprises her with a job offer and also that he wants a date! Will she accept either or both? You will have to read the book to find out! I so enjoyed this book and meeting Mallory, Will, Fiona and Perky. This book is a stand alone and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
Warning this book will make you laugh out loud without any warning. Julia Kent has come up with another unbelievable meeting that starts this great read off. Like her billionaire and/or random books? You will love this also.
If I could give this more stars I most definitely would! Julia Kent is known for her quirky, funny as heck stories. If you have read her Shopping for the Billionaire or Random series, you already know the humor she can pull out of her characters, how she can take some really random story from the internet (or heck probably real life) and bring them to life in her stories so much so that you have to google them to see if something like she mention actually exists (and most often they do). Fluffy is funny…rolling off the treadmill while you are reading funny….doubled over in laughter until tears run down your face funny. I found myself wanting to message her every five minutes because my funny bone was just tickled over and over again. But wait….as funny as this story was…I found it to be about so much more than just humor for humor’s sake. Okay…not knowing what she was walking into taking a job as a fluffer is hilarious. But the back story about Mallory and Will (who I will readily admit has now surpassed Declan in my affection, which I never thought possible) is about expectations…of the past, present and future. It is about how some experiences in your past can shape the person you are even when you can’t admit that they have. It is about finding the strength to just be who you are, who you are meant to be and accepting that that person is okay, that there is nothing wrong with who you are or the choices you have made. My heart was completely engaged in Mallory and Will’s story as well as some of the other characters we come across. I will never, EVER look at Fluffernutters the same again. You will absolutely love this couples’ “come to Jesus” moments and if you don’t swoon several times in this story along with all the laughter then I have no more words. I could write a book, but I’d rather you just read it and get the complete joy of the dysfunction that is Mallory as she navigates the road into adulthood.
I love Will and Mal! Mal’s situation at the beginning was hilarious. Will and Mal have definite chemistry and their banter throughout the book is awesome. Even the side characters have you rolling in laughter. A book full of witty banter, hilarious situations, chemistry, friends, and love! Can’t wait for the rest of the series!
If you are looking for a good read that will keep you laughing and not wanting to put it down, then this is the book for you! I love this book and can see it becoming a go to re-read when I need a fun read. Julia Kent never disappoints and I cannot wait for the next book!
I love love love this book. Was hooked from the beginning.
