An all-new STANDALONE from New York Times bestselling author Julia KentIt all started with the wrong Help Wanted ad. Of course it did.I’m a professional fluffer. It’s NOT what you think. I stage homes for a living. Real estate agents love me, and my work stands on its own merits.Sigh. Get your mind out of the gutter. Go ahead. Laugh. I’ll wait.See? That’s the problem. My career has used the term … problem. My career has used the term “fluffer” for decades. I didn’t even know there was a more… lascivious definition of the term.
Until it was too late.
The ad for a “professional fluffer” on Craigslist seemed like divine intervention. My last unemployment check was in the bank. I was desperate. Rent was due. The ad said cash paid at the end of the day. The perfect job!
Staging homes means showing your best angle. The same principle applies in making a certain kind of movie. Turns out a “fluffer” doesn’t arrange decorative pillows on a couch.
They arrange other soft, round-ish objects.
The job isn’t hard. Er, I mean, it is — it’s about being hard. Or, well… helping other people to be hard.
Oh, man…
And that’s the other problem. A man. No, not one of the stars on the movie set. Will Lotham – my high school crush. The owner of the house where we’re filming. Illegally. In a vacation rental.
By the time the cops show up, what I thought was just a great house staging gig turned into a nightmare involving pictures of me with an undressed star, Will rescuing me from an arrest, and a humiliating lesson in my own naivete.
My job turned out to be so much harder than I expected. But you know what’s easier than I ever imagined?
Having all my dreams come true.

I really enjoyed this book, my introduction to the author and I laughed a lot. Quirky characters, funny lol moments and an entertaining story that made me want to read more of her work.
When Mallory is searching for new employment, little does she know what she’s really applying for. That was absolutely hilarious. Talk about miscommunication or is it? Needless to say when her high school crush comes on the scene the rest of the story becomes so much fun to read about.
I loved Will, he was a character that was charming and made things seem easy to be especially with Mal, however when a high school reunion doesn’t go as planned will Will come to the rescue? Are there underlying feelings on his side.
I loved Mal and her funny friends, I just thoroughly enjoyed everything about this book! Looking forward to reading more from this author!
Oh my goodness, this story had me laughing out loud and some swooning in there too. Mallory is a complex, smart woman but also insecure at times. When her high school crush comes back into her life at an inopportune and embarrassing moment, she is is flabbergasted. Especially when he offers her a job and possibly a lot more. But Mallory’s over analytical mind goes on overdrive and she can’t believe Will would be interested in her. The banter, sexual tension and brownie eating make this a great story. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
I absolutely adored this book. Mallory and Will’s story was so much fun to read. Mallory had a crush on Will in high school but nothing ever happened. The way they are reunited again is absolutely hilarious, I was rolling on the floor laughing. This was a fun book to read with two engaging characters, Will is a sweetheart and Mallory a ball of fun energy. The banter between them made the book easy to read and the chemistry gave the reader some hot scenes to read.

In true Julia Kent fashion, this book will have you laughing out loud. Mal is charmingly naïve, goofy, and down to earth in a way that resonates with readers and makes us smile. We all have that friend who is always getting into some minor skirmish and finding new ways to get out of it. The awkward situations that Mal gets herself into in this book are outshined only by her inventive ways of overcoming any obstacle. Will is the modern version of a knight in shining armor with that boy next door persona that makes you want to talk to him all day. The combination of bumbling Mal and oh-so-stable Will is another match made in Julia Kent heaven. I highly recommend this feel-good read to anyone looking to add a smile to their day.
This story was Fluffy by name, fluffy by nature. It was fun and humorous with some fab characters.
“I’ve spent ten years chasing him out of my head. I evicted him. Turns out he’s been squatting in my heart.”
Mallory Monahan is a professional fluffer – of houses. When she innocently applies for a fluffer role, she ends up being shocked in more ways than one, when she comes face to face with her high-school crush, Will Lotham, for the first time in ten years. Although she’s mortified beyond belief, she can’t really afford to turn his surprising job offer down, even though her old feelings come roaring back to life. And, what happens when it appears that the attraction is mutual?
“No part of how I feel about you is empty. It’s full. Overflowing. So intense that I need help breathing sometimes.”
This was a great romantic comedy. Mallory and her two best friends, Persephone (AKA Perky) and Fiona have the funniest conversations. Mallory is a brain box who went off to an Ivy League college but came back to live in her hometown. I loved that she knew who she was and what she wanted out of life. Will was gorgeous and flirty, and always seemed to be chasing after Mal, but he was swoony thoughtful and wasn’t about to give up on her.
Looking forward to the next book in the series

Holy Rom-Com! This was my first Kent book and I found it pretty funny. I loved the originality of the story line! Mallory grew up in a small town. She is in a financial pickle and applies to help wanted ad on Craigslist. She thinks she will be a real estate “ Fluffer” like her old job but she finds out the hard way that’s not the job at all. I loved Mallory’s relationship with her parents and her friends. Mallory has had a crush on Will and they reconnect after 14 years. Will witnesses Mallory’s unfortunate and embarrassing situation. I loved the progression of the story. I loved watching Mallory come into the adult version of herself and let the past go. Kent job well done. This book is funny, light, and an easy read!
This is my first book by Julia Kent. It’s a laugh out loud kind of book. It’s light and fun with an original storyline and intriguing characters that still made me smile. There’s a sweetness to it that I was also thankful for.
I knew the moment I met Mallory I was going to love this character. She’s naïve and kind of a bit scatty. Her first interactions piqued my interest, hooked me, and I knew there were more great moments to come. When she was applying for the job, it had me shaking my head. When Will showed up I was so happy to see where this was going. He’s sweet and plays well with her innocence and their conversations are hilarious. Their journey from past to present is amusing and definitely entertaining, as well as a little saddening. There are so many characters in here that add to the humor of this story.
I’m looking forward to the next one. The author really set it up and has captured my interest; I’m ready and waiting.
Meet Mallory, smart yet naive when it comes to things, after all she was Valedictorian of her class, edging out other smarty pants Will, her high school crush! When her unemployment is running out, she answers an ad on Craigs list for a fluffer, that starts her tumble down the slope! See she thinks it’s a different type of fluffer!
Mallory had no idea that Will has crushed on her as well, and as hot as he is, he doesn’t know how to approach her and let her know he wants more.
This story will have you laughing, feeling all the emotions that Mallory goes through! 5 stars for this one! Grab it now!
Such an enjoyable story with just the right amount of appropriate and inappropriate humor with a swoon worthy love story wrapped in.
Mallory and Will are a great couple. There is enough chemistry and unrequited angst to make the story interesting. Mallory’s besties Fi and Perky are as quirky as Mallory is and just adds to the humor.
There are so many laugh out loud scenes and situations to keep your attention that the pages just flash by.
Fluffy by Julia Kent is the start of a new series of standalone books, this one feature Mallory Monahan and Will Lotham. Mal as she’s known, was the smart, nerdy girl in high school and Will the hot quarterback she crushed on since their first day of freshman year. Their lockers were next door to each other, but that’s as close as they got, right up until the last day. Mal thought Will was going to kiss her, instead her just trampled on her already bruised heart.
Will left town for college and didn’t return for ten years.
Too bad it was in time to meet Mal at the worst time in her life- ever!
Mal thought Will wasn’t interested in her but she’s in for a surprise.
This guy? Gosh, he was so sweet and kind, no bad bones in his body. And what a body he had. Sinfully sexy and hard as a rock.
Mal had overcome her awkward shyness in the decade since she’d last laid eyes on Will, but he brought it all back.
This was quite a slow burner of a story. The chemistry was strong, the banter was snarky and sexy. The build up beyond enticing. Their friends had just enough influence and book time to make them an interesting addition and want to know more. I am definitely looking forward to Perky and Skip’s story, coming soon… I hope!
Witty, laugh out loud romantic comedy that will leave you wanting more. Lana~White Hot Reads
Mallory is so innocent in the world and doesn’t realize what she is getting herself into when she answers a help wanted ad for a fluffer. Caught up in what is to be the one of the worst decisions she’s ever made, she literally fall into the lap of her high school crush Will. He saves her and in the mean time he shows her how he feels about her. I can’t wait for the Perky’s book next.
JK always knocks it out of the park with her rom-coms but this one was something else. I mean when a book starts on a porn set by accident, the only place to go is up, right? Sometimes, but also sometimes not so much.
This book had me dying laughing so often I had tears in my eyes. Mallory is so smart and witty. She literally has an answer for everything. Will always seemed perfect but really, he’s just like everyone else. My favorite part about these two was watching them let go of all their misconceptions they had about each other since high school. I’d love to see some of these scenes from Will’s POV and I can’t wait for Perky’s story!!
Now, if you haven’t read a romantic comedy in a while then you need to check out Fluffy by Julia Kent. Filled with hilarious awkwardness two crushes from high school reunite in the most unique way- a porn set. Although, neither of Kent’s characters actually grasp that is what they are walking into when they reunite after ten long years apart.
Mallory is unique to say the least. This quirky, somewhat nerdy, feng shui interior designer needs a job… stat. Only what she accepts isn’t a job to fluff furniture…. Will has been the object of Mallory’s affection since freshman year of high school. So when he finds her years later working on a porn set, his interest is intrigued yet again by this socially awkward, yet beautiful woman.
Kent makes you laugh out loud as she reunites these two. With hilariously funny sidekicks Fiona and Perky, Kent only adds to the laughs in this book. Mallory and Will are fun, flirty and everything you wish for in a romantic comedy. Although it takes a moment for these two to get it together, when they do it’s irresistible. I truly enjoyed Fluffy. It was the perfect amount of laughs needed for this working mama!
Romantic Comedy at its Best!!
Mallory stages houses and is a bit naive. When a Craigslist ad appears to be in her area of expertise, she is almost arrested due to the misunderstanding. Her heart-throb Will from high school happens to be the one to keep her from being arrested.
We get glimpses of their interactions ten years ago and learn that Will appreciates Mallory’s intelligence and works to raise her self-esteem. Romantic, humorous and brilliant read which highly entertains!!
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
If it can be misunderstood, get screwed up, she can stumble–it will–she would. Yep, she may be the smartest in her class but that sure didn’t make things go smoothly.
She was in big trouble to get a new job after her longtime boss retired and closed the doors. Craig’s List, desperation, and one of those many misunderstandings put her in her new job–not the old term for her former job. Fluffer. You know, what they used to call stagers. You go into a house or office before an open house and make sure it is feng shui(d). Only the new term for Fluffer is entirely different which she found out as soon as she showed up.
Bad enough the “Beast” was all for her taking the job–the owner of the house who did not agree to the temporary rental was her longtime dream guy–Will. She’d crushed on him since high school even though she hadn’t seen him since the left for college.
So begins, even more, stumbles and fumbles of the mouth and body.
This is a funny touching love story. I enjoyed it. If I was forced to pick a flaw, I’d say she’d done it or said it maybe a bit too much. However, I did enjoy and laugh all the way through. You’ll enjoy this lighthearted romance and end with a smile.
Reviewed for Words Turn me On.
Mallory, Mallory, Mallory you poor innocent girl. She really knows how to find herself in some sticky situations all by accident. This book had had a few laugh out loud moments. The internet is for sure not her friend!
Mallory appears to almost be reliving her High school days. She’s just a hometown, super smart but very naive girl. She finds herself in a very compromising situation right at the beginning all due to her naive and very sheltered innocent self that she is. Then, her crush comes back. Hello High School all over again! Her best friend even predicted the future to her humiliating embarrassment. How can Little Miss Perfect get out of this situation?
Will appears at the most funniest, yet embarrassing time ever! I enjoyed his character, he’s strong willed, wholesome and an all around genuine good guy. He’s made a name for himself and very well set off as well. Little did he know what a trip back to his hometown would turn into.
Fluffy is all around a feel good, silly book. No tears are shed through this story, it’s filled with laughter and good feelings. It leaves no cliff hanger what so ever. Fluffer, Fluffy and Fluff, it’s all included in this super silly, cute story of Mallery and her embarrassing moments.
Too Funny…. May I start by saying you don’t have too BUT, reading the short Prequel, “Little Miss Perfect” will sure help the flow of this hilarious tale. Ms. Kent has given us a well written fun storyline with characters your simply going to fall for. Even the secondary and brief minor characters will make you smile and laugh.
How does a grown woman not know what a “Fluffer” is? Well if you a hometown, shy kind of gal I suppose that could happen. When the Real Estate company that Mallory, “Mal”,l works for is sold, her job as the home stager is lost. Now she is flat broke and needs rent money fast. Seeing an ad on Craigslist for a professional fluffer that pays cash at the end of the week sounded perfect, especially after talking to spatula on the phone. Thinking she’s going to be staging/fluffing the home for a cooking show, Mal takes off to start the job. Little does she know the home she is traveling to owned by the parents of her High School crush that she’s never truly gotten over, Will Lotham, and that the crew is “filming” without his knowledge.
When Mal arrives at the home is when the story take off. One hilarious moment/disaster after another is only made worse when Will arrives home to throw the Porn Crew out of his parents home. Mal is mortified when she see Will for the first time in 10 years in a most humiliating position which causes him to save her from being arrested. Will, being Will, uses this to his advantage and makes a deal with Mal to stage his parents home so he can sell it quick (and of course since Mal is broke she has to agree, right?).
OMG that laughs are plenty as the outrageous times continue. I loved Mal and Will’s story. The running fluffer joke only makes the storyline even more unique. There is so much more I’d love to say but I just don’t do spoilers. I give Fluffy 2 Thumbs Up and 5 Stars. I Highly Recommend grabbing it up asap and I can’t want to see where the storyline takes us in Book 2 of the series.
A romcom that’s a little dirty, a lot flirty, breakout funny, and just a great read!
When Mallory Monahan answers the job ad for a professional fluffer; #1 she’s desperate (she’s to the point where she might have to move back in with her parents), #2 she’s a professional stager (the job description was close, even if they called it something different), #3 did I mention she was desperate (the spam ads of marrying a Nigerian prince were beginning to look enticing).
Keep your beverages set far away or you may be cleaning up your own spit takes. (Is that too punny when a fluffer job is involved?) Anyway, Fluffy is hilarious, so this really is a warning; read and drink at your own risk.
When Mallory arrives at the job site and things go from desperate to…well let’s just say she finally figures out what a professional fluffer does. Back in high school, she was humiliated when her car was decorated with the words “most likely to become a porn star”, little did she realize the joke would actually come back to haunt her. To add to her humiliation, her high school crush, Will Lotham, arrives on set with the cops in tow. Could her life get any worse?
With a ten year class reunion looming, no job, the possibility of moving back in with her parents, and the humiliation of answering a fluffer ad Mallory doesn’t understand when Will seems to take an interest in her. Is it to complete her humiliation? Because he came in second best back in high school, is it revenge? Or could it be real interest?
Mallory and Will meet up again 10 years after their High School graduation in the most hilarious, embarrassing and unusual way!
She still wants him as much as her next breath and he is seeing her in a whole new light. When they begin to work together and spend time together things heat up in the most glorious ways.
I loved everything about this book. the couple is adorable. Mallory’s friends and parents are quirky and loveable. The story is fun, funny and just steamy enough to keep you warmed up. This is a charming story of unrequited love finally coming to a wonderful conclusion!
This book has to be one of my favourite reads from Julia Kent and that’s saying something because she is definitely one of my go to authors. I laughed or should I say snorted out loud so many times thought out this very funny romantic comedy and if you love rom-com’s this is a must read.
Mallory is coming to the end of her thether she has no job not much money in the bank and it looks like it’s time to move home to her doting parents well that is until she see’s a job on Craig’s list for a fluffer, it seems right up her street after all she has chosen to stage houses for a living but is this job for a stager or something else…….
Will was everyone’s high school crush the high school quarterback and the man voted must likely to succeed and Mallory crushed on him from a distance so things get decidedly awkward when it’s Will that comes to her rescue when she finds herself in a very sticky situation at the job she took in all innocence not really understanding what a Fluffer is…….
Quirky characters and lots of laugh out loud moments make this a great read but it’s Mallory and her innocence that really made this story great. This is part of a new series and if Fluffy is anything to go by this will surely be the must read series of 2019. Looking forward to what’s next from this very talented author.
