An all-new STANDALONE from New York Times bestselling author Julia KentIt all started with the wrong Help Wanted ad. Of course it did.I’m a professional fluffer. It’s NOT what you think. I stage homes for a living. Real estate agents love me, and my work stands on its own merits.Sigh. Get your mind out of the gutter. Go ahead. Laugh. I’ll wait.See? That’s the problem. My career has used the term … problem. My career has used the term “fluffer” for decades. I didn’t even know there was a more… lascivious definition of the term.
Until it was too late.
The ad for a “professional fluffer” on Craigslist seemed like divine intervention. My last unemployment check was in the bank. I was desperate. Rent was due. The ad said cash paid at the end of the day. The perfect job!
Staging homes means showing your best angle. The same principle applies in making a certain kind of movie. Turns out a “fluffer” doesn’t arrange decorative pillows on a couch.
They arrange other soft, round-ish objects.
The job isn’t hard. Er, I mean, it is — it’s about being hard. Or, well… helping other people to be hard.
Oh, man…
And that’s the other problem. A man. No, not one of the stars on the movie set. Will Lotham – my high school crush. The owner of the house where we’re filming. Illegally. In a vacation rental.
By the time the cops show up, what I thought was just a great house staging gig turned into a nightmare involving pictures of me with an undressed star, Will rescuing me from an arrest, and a humiliating lesson in my own naivete.
My job turned out to be so much harder than I expected. But you know what’s easier than I ever imagined?
Having all my dreams come true.

OMG, Julia Kent is hilarious. I love her brain! This setup is perfect and the laughs just keep rolling along! Great start to what promises to be a terrific new series.
Wickedly entertaining and clever, with spot on sexual tension and banter, you won’t be able to put this one down – nor will you want to!

A start to a brand-new series
The basics: Former valedictorian and Brown grad Mallory mid-reads a Craigslist ad for a fluffer, thinking it’s a house fluffer/stager job. She finds herself on a porn set in a rented AirBnB. The cops show up because the owner calls — and he turns out to be her high school crush, Will. Antics ensue. Will hires her for his multi-national real estate company. This is a slow-burn, “second chance/crush” romance with a high school reunion that takes on the issue of our past selves vs. our present selves, choosing to stay in your hometown vs. going away, and making choices that are true to you. Lots of comedy, too, as her two best friends, Perky and Feisty, provide laughs (and yes, I’m setting them up for future books).

I would write something cute like “Julia Kent does it again!” but this isn’t your usual Julia Kent book. This is THE JULIA-KENTIEST book. Only a JK character would answer a job for a fluffer, believing that it is for a house stager, only to find that it’s for a . . . *fluffer.* This hysterical romp deepens and explores the aftermath of high school trauma, because all Julia Kent books are also deeply felt about the heart.
I love everything by Julia Kent and Fluffy was no exception. Hands down hilarious!!!
I can’t wait to read Julia Kent’s newest release, FLUFFY!!! It’s got all the makings for a good laugh!

OMG! I am dying!! Get this book and be prepared to LOVE it!
Julia Kent has hit it out of the park once again. I laughed so hard my sides hurt. I think we can all relate to questioning our lives before our 10 year high school reunion, high school crushes, and the fear of feeling less than even if your were the smartest kid in school. So grab your marshmallow fluff, your Urban Dictionary and prepare for a wild, hysterical ride.
Five stars for a hilariously unique premise and ten for the comically unexpected and charming execution. This one not only kept me in stitches through every page, it was quite the vocabulary lesson and a bit of an education, as well. I’m not nearly as intelligent as Mallory, but I may be nearly as naïve. 😉
This book virtually reads itself. It hooks the reader in from the very start and continues to build from there, making her desperate to learn what happens next and simply impossible to set it aside until the end. Even then, these quirky, larger-than-life characters secured their spot in my heart and left me wanting more, and I’m dying to get my hands on the next book in this series!

It’s all fun and games until Mallory answers a Craigslist ad for a fluffer, and finds that not only is she NOT staging a house, she’s now on the set of a porn. And when the cops are called, her high school crush, Will, answers the call. *awkward* Add in a high school reunion and a couple of crazy best friends, and you’ve got the recipe for a fun and funny read! Grab Fluffy now!
“You’re a smoldering fire, Mallory. Not a sudden blast. You’re deep. Shallow bounces right off you. I don’t want to skim the surface. I want to explore the uncharted waters with you.”
My first Julia Kent story and now I know why readers love her books so much. Fluffy is a fast-paced romantic comedy full of hilarious situations, witty comments and dialogues and character that bring that their own personal brand of quirky to the story.
Mallory is in financial trouble. After losing her job as a stager for a real estate company, she is now on the hunt for a new job, her bank balance has started to touch the negative mark, and comes across a job which is perfect and pays way too good. The text interview that Mallory has with the person in charge leading to Mal going to the “office” and the utter cluelessness about the job she signed up for is H.I.L.A.R.I.O.U.S!
But when she FINALLY figures out the job that she applied for and the characters that she encountered on the set leads to ANOTHER set of equal parts hilarious and embarrassing “meet-cute” with her high school crush Will Lotham.
THE SECOND-HAND EMBARRASSMENT WAS SO FREAKING REAL! I had tears in my eyes from that whole scene.
Fluffy is the perfect laid back read for anyone who is looking for minimal angst, flirty banter and easy writing. You can easily spend a few hours reading this book in its entirety and let me tell you this story will a bright spot in your day.
4 Stars!
Mallory’s tale just makes me happy. Yes, she goes through some daunting trials but she hits the jackpot. For a character driven story this one just flies, we are drawn into Mal and Will’s world and it just envelopes you. The comedy is slapstick but believable. I like that we’re also building a cast of characters we can follow in the future. I truly identify with Mal’s high school experience, but we are stronger than we know and we learn more than just book knowledge in that boiler room of hormones, testosterone, and self importance. Don’t miss this hilarious thought provoking romance.
5 star review Fluffy by Julia Kent
Wow, what a great book! If I could give this book 10 stars I would. As with previous books I have read by Julia Kent, I was in stitches having laughed so much I cried. That’s right, not only laughing but snort laughing, totally unattractive I assure you.
Julia Kent is one of my go to authors in the romantic comedy genre. There is just something about her style of writing that draws me in and I devour her books almost in one go.
I absolutely loved the premise for Fluffy and could not volunteer fast enough to read and review. This was everything that I hoped it would be and so much more.
I fell hard and fast for Will Lotham, he ticked all my boxes and was totally swoon worthy. I so felt for Mallory (Mal) after she made such an embarrassing mistake, particularly since Will was her high school crush.
Although a hilarious read it is also a story of friends becoming lovers and the romance and love was just as epic as the humour.
The secondary characters, particularly Mallory’s rather crazy friends and family were an absolute hoot.
This is a gem of a book and in my humble opinion Ms.Kent has another winner on her hands.
OH MY Giddy Aunt!! I started reading Fluffy in bed and got kicked out by hubs cause i woke him up to many times laughing. Author, Julia Kent you have done it again. This book is so funny with innuendos that have you grabbing your sides to keep from splitting your stitches. I will admit I am one of those folks who had NO Idea that I Fluffer was not well you know one who stages houses. And I will never look at marshmallow cream AKA Fluff the same again. Reading Fluffy made me realize that I Must meet Julia Kent the author in person one day and explore all that she is. How does one author come up with so much wonderful fun and romance… Don’t forget there is yes Romance in this book too. Mallory and Will make the most unlikely couple but of course that means for all kind of dialogue and lots and lots of ways for Will to work his on magic Mal. There are wonderful side characters as well Fiona and Perky to name two which I am looking forward to seeing their books soon.
I absolutely LOVE reading Julia Kent’s hilarious books, so it would be crazy of me to pass up this deal. Grabbing it now and can’t wait to dive in!
This was adorable and brought back SO MUCH of my awkward middle through high school crush (in a good way). Two thumbs up and can’t wait to dive into the next one!
When the world goes sideways the way it has this year, a book like this one by Julia Kent is a much needed mental health saver. It reminds you the ridiculous situations and misunderstandings can and will happen, and it’s not the end of the world.
Sometimes it’s just the beginning of the best parts of life if we can take a moment to laugh at ourselves, our mistakes, and lean on our loyal friends who are there to help us pick ourselves up and come away stronger, better, and happier.
In this particular story there are all kinds of crazy situations from a misunderstanding that nearly makes the heroine an accidental porn star, to malfunctioning Bluetooth speakers that give an unsuspecting universe an ear full, to text faux pas that could make any adult turn beet red…and it was all for our enjoyment!
Since this pandemic has happened (and everything that followed), I’ve found myself needing to laugh and truly appreciate the absurdities that can happen in this world. This book came through for me in spades!
Sexy and laugh out loud fun! I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the audiobook!
So cute!! A sweet, hilarious slow burn of a second chance romance. I’m excited to get Perky and Feisty’s stories too. It reminded me a bit of Tara Sivec (a la Jed Had to Die and Heidi’s Guide to Four Letter Words) in the best way possible. This was my first Julia Kent book and won’t be my last! 4.25 out of 5 wine glasses.
