NASA discovered the alien ship lurking in the asteroid belt in the 1960s. They kept the Target under intense surveillance for decades, letting the public believe they were exploring the solar system, while they worked feverishly to refine the technology needed to reach it.The ship itself remained silent, drifting.Dr. Jane Holloway is content documenting nearly-extinct languages and had never … and had never contemplated becoming an astronaut. But when NASA recruits her to join a team of military scientists for an expedition to the Target, it’s an adventure she can’t refuse.
The ship isn’t vacant, as they presumed.
A disembodied voice rumbles inside Jane’s head, “You are home.”
Jane fights the growing doubts of her colleagues as she attempts to decipher what the alien wants from her. As the derelict ship devolves into chaos and the crew gets cut off from their escape route, Jane must decide if she can trust the alien’s help to survive.

I liked the idea of the plot, but was disappointed that the solutions for the heroine were revealed the way they were. there were some innovative plot ideas that could have been better developed. It still kept my interest to the end.
I loved this book.
This book was not what I expected. It was kind of a mashup of Alien, 2001 a space Odyssey, and Farscape. It was well written and I enjoyed it. It was fresh approach on a basic sci-fi novel.
I loved the female protagonist and her relationship with her fellow astronauts. Her relationship with her alien navigator and with the other characters was a tribute to her humanity. Though one might think her the least important of the crew, her personality, adaptation skills and unselfishness helped her become a true heroine. Adventure, …
No as good as it should have been. Exploring an alien ship should be more exiting.
An interesting take on first contact. Realistic – or at least plausible – sci-fi “science”. The ending leaves you with an obvious launch into a galaxy-quest-like series.
I loved this whole series.. waiting for book 5.
Great descriptions. Many conceptual similarities to Arrival, but takes a completely different path. Can’t wait to read the others in the series.
I really enjoyed this first in the series book. There are creative elements to this story line that I have never encountered in other sci-fi. Looking forward to reading the next in the series.
Already on Book #2 of the series. Super fun read.
Fun read. Only have the 1st book of the series. Will look for more
Enjoyed the premise of the book and the main characters. Great sci-Fi with action and good plot. Looking forward to the next book in the series. This was a complete story though it ended setting up the next book.
Very entertaining! Interesting story with lots of twists.
A nice twist to the usual sci-fi enjoyable!
Perfect female lead – does not let the guys get her down or out – and she doesn’t have to get on their level to do it. Great story and totally loved the ending. You will want to read the entire series.
Good potential future based plausible science.
Little bit of a cliff hanger at the end, but otherwise a great read.
a good read
I would have given it 5 stars but the ending felt very abrupt. I get that the story goes on, but the reader should still feel some satisfaction with the ending of the first book, not left feeling like they wasted hours of time to be left hanging. Otherwise I enjoyed the story line and the characters though I think more back story on character …
Great read
