Absolute opposites attract and in a wonderful way!
Laura Kinsale does a wonderful job telling a story. It is even better to listen to it narrated by Nicholas Bolton.
If you like lyrical prose, and multi-layered characters then Laura Kinsale is one of the best historical writers out there. I’m pretty sure this book is featured on every best ever historical romances. Powerful, intense. Kinsale has a real talent at writing in the language her character would use or understand. Early in this book, Jervaulx has a stroke which impairs his ability to speak and understand speech. Kinsale writes not only his garbled speech but his garbled understanding.
