For Julie Collins the loss was shattering. First her son was kidnapped. Then he was found dead. On the fifth anniversary of his death Julie receives a Facebook message from him: “Happy anniversary, Mommy.” Is it a hoax? Or is he still alive? Former U.S. marshal Rip Lane’s pursuit of the truth plunges him into a dark world of family secrets.
i really enjoyed this book with one exception. The beaches of the west coast of Florida are beautiful and the water of the Gulf of Mexico are enjoyable. However usually the waves are so small that they barely make a sound when they break on the shore. The surf can kick up when a storm is in the right position off shore or directly over head.
I still really liked this book.
I love the Rip Lane, retired U.S. Marshall, character and his girlfriend Julie even though they got pretty serious in just two short weeks! However, I felt the story would have flowed better without the whole Neat family vs Messy family episode and it really didn’t add anything to the book but was rather an unneeded distraction. Also could have done with less coincidences. Way too many to make it believable. The Kirsten Love and half-brother connection at the end was a little weird. A lead-in to the next book maybe???
Good read
The characters were unbelievable. The book never gets better.
Simply good. I’m always thankful when I run across a good book. This is one. The story is entertaining. The characters are relatable and memorable. It’s not full of action and a page turner nor intense as some books are but each time I picked it up, I genuinely wanted to see what happened next. I love the way it resolved. I really enjoyed this. I’m off to find another in this series.
For me this book was so good I just HAD to read the whole series. I adored the main character and couldn’t put it down .
Good story, but wish author would use longer sentences–this reminds me of the old Dick & Jane grade school readers.
Have read all four books in this series. Kept thinking they would get better. Nope.
The dialogue is clunky, the situations unrealistic and the author has a real thing for lists of facts and throwing in facts that have nothing to do with moving the story along. And, trying to make Rip come off as funny or sexy just didn’t work for me.
From the way Rip talks and acts, he in no way resembles the author’s description of him. I just don’t see the character and the description matching up.
You can depend on hearing how buff Rip is and how he works out and runs. And, how all the women want him (as if). But, he does manage to find someone to sleep with in the books. And, you will learn vast quantities of facts about the Marshalls’ Service.
Quick, fun read
quick. fun read. keeps you guessing.
Original story and entertaining to read.
Definitely entertaining. Liked the characters.
This book is about a drifter living in an RV park who stumbles on a dead body. He investigates because his neighbor and love interest wants him to.
I read through this book for the overall content, but I felt the writing was choppy and ruined any flow the story had. It was rather halting and distracting. I honestly wouldn’t read any of the other books in the series.
You never know where this book was headed Major twists at the end
keeps you guessing
Good read
