The descriptions of the fictional president in the book were descriptions of our current president. Clive Cussler is indeed clairvoyant considering the book was published in 1997.
I admit upfront that I stopped reading around page 100. It’s rare that I don’t finish a book. I just couldn’t justify spending more time on this than I already had.
The story didn’t particularly grab me, but what caused me to put the book down and walk away was the quality of the writing. I thought it was totally sophomoric– maybe not even that good.
Actually the 100 or so pages I finished all seemed to be written according to a computer formula. The author just seemed to string words together when describing whatever it was he was describing at that moment–rather than using words judiciously to weave an image in the reader’s mind. After the third or fourth adjective in the string, I just kept seeing blah, blah, blah, blah.
I can’t speak about the 500 or so pages I didn’t read. It may have gotten better. My suggestion to anyone thinking about buying the book is to get a sample first.
It’s Clive Cussler…great book
This series rarely disappoints and this was no exception. Great story and flow. An enjoyable read.
I always enjoy the Banter between Dirk and Al. As expected a good story of good vs evil.
I’m a fan of Clive Cusslers. I always enjoy his books.

Great author!
You can never go wrong with a Clive Cussler book featuring Dirk Pitt! They are interesting, thrilling and very well written! Some of my favorite books ever, and Flood Tide follows in the tradition of great Dirk Pitt stories!
Cussler is one of my favorite authors. He does not disappoint.
Always great for adventure
Made you think about immigration and processes that most people do not know about. Excellent action book in the true Clive Cluster stile
Typical Cussler…..Great!!!!!!
What can you say, the James Bons of the seas and his gang win again. Dirk is always interesting with the clear cut good and bad guys and some minor history and geography lessons to boot. Classic Cussler
Seems to do his homework. Except they are magazines not clips for the guns.
