Emily never fails to deliver a driving pace, original use of language and imagery, and a weaving of important, thought-provoking themes into a story that makes you pause to ponder. Sydney, viewed through the eyes of riveting characters who love her, continues to be enigmatic and captivating, a character you know will continue to surprise and intrigue.
The journey to Flock of Wolves (A Sydney Rye Mystery, Book #10) with Sydney and the world of Joyful Justice is like living a thousand lifetimes in a world that’s both familiar and foreign. I recommend reading these books in order for best experience–dive on in, the water’s fine!
Another great adventure with Sydney. Love this series.
I had been hoarding a bunch of the Sidney Rye novels and I decided that was foolish. I am binge reading the rest of the series and loving them. A strong female lead, fighting for right as she navigates her own life. Much stays the same, but much also changes and evolves, keeping these stories interesting instead of repetitive. I don’t put them down until done, unless my eyes cease to focus. They keep getting better.
This book was very interesting! It clears up some unanswered questions and leaves new ones. But, Sydney was more present in this story, than the last in the series, which made the read much more enjoyable. Once again, Joyful Justice has the stuff hitting the fan and the group will try and control the fires set. Interesting twists and turns as usual! Enjoyable read!!
OMG!!! No idea where the author is going with this series but it doesn’t look good for Syd. Why or why would Kimelman give Mulberry amnesia? Seriously??? What does she hope to accomplish with that move? Throw Syd into Bobby’s arms? Uuuggghhh!!!
Anyway, not sure where this leaves Syd or JJ but, once again, it doesn’t look good. Not my fave book of the series.
Love all of this series, very hard to put down once you turn the first open
If you told me that I would enjoy the Sydney Rye Mystery I would never belived you. But I am really addicted to these stories. Although I love the story line I found this book not an easy read. The author jumps back and forth amoung the characters and titles each section for the character. I found this a little disjointed. Like the other books, it begins with a contenuation of the story from the previous book. We as well the team do not know the condition or whereabouts of Sydney.
So intense with unusual characters and a fast pace. Keeps you on the edge of your seat as you cannot predict what’s coming next.
This is book ten of a series. Whole series is very good.
Got all her books love the series
I really enjoyed the first eight books of the Sidney Rye Series, but Emily’s change of style in books 9 and 10 was disappointing. Switching from character to character to further her narrative was confusing and distracting. The first 8 books, all told first person from Sydney/Joy’s point of view were exciting and captivating. Books 9&10, not so much. I hope book 11 returns to the previous format.
Great reading!
Love all the books in the Joyful Justice series. Each one gets better.
Sydney Rye is developing into an incredible, iconic character who is a heroine for our time. In the days of “Me Too” Sydney proves that it’s possible to overcome being a victim. Of course, most of us will never have her courage, strength and her skills. Let’s face it, her life is not something most of us want. But the woman, and the story, is nuanced, complex, and an incredible page turner. I raced through the book, which is number 10 in the series, and I’m breathlessly awaiting number 11!
I love her dog Blue, and the plot is original and thrilling.
I absolutely love the Sydney Rye series – Emily Kimelman is a great weaver of stories! And I have to say, this is the best so far (yeah, I know I think I say it each time – but it’s so true!
This book gives us more of an insight into each of the main characters background and how they all got to this point. To see how each person views what is happening really makes the story even deeper and more true.
I encourage everyone who enjoys mysteries, to check out this set of books. You won’t be disappointed and you’ll come away feeling like a person can do anything they put their mind too!
Interesting approach to character development. It was perhaps a bit overused at times. But I enjoyed the read.
I received this early ARC for a honest review. Honestly I let this book take me on a journey. There was a combination of stories going on that I felt each was leading me somewhere that stated at one place and knew that the whole thing would be shook up at the end. Sydney and Robert, Sydney and Mulberry, Mulberry and Sandy. I mean wow. Not to leave anyone else out because it was just a lot of feelings going around.
April. I know I didn’t like her after all the crap she has done in the past but I am letting her grow on me. Her message is a simple message that is a struggle everyone faces. One that has been a war from the beginning of time. What is our value with god? What should we believe? Very powerful questions. To see April stand up and take charge. I was very proud of her. Even if the Sydney stuff doesn’t pan out.
Questions I scream at the book at some point. What the hell is going on with Sydney? Will we find “HER” ? How much Brain damage can this girl have? Mulberry??? really??? I am so ugh. WHAT is Sydney going to do about Mulberry? ( I am kind of glad how it ended now)
As you can see I had a bunch of stuff going on for this book. So many Feelings. I was confused as to how I wanted it to end. I wanted to stop at one point and cry because I knew that the journey I thought we where on had changed and I was scared the ending was going to be worse then any I thought of. I did reread the ending twice because I am up in the air with how I feel. It was a plot twist for sure. I feel going into the next book we will be getting a new life and different growth for Sydney. I am leaving out so much. Yes, you should read this book. You will loose your mind if you don’t. Go back and pick up them all and binge read them.
I have no words to describe my feelings on finishing this book. So many things to think about, so many stories in each character, and, yes, a LOT of emotion and introspection. Not something you would expect in reading an action-packed thriller about a ‘badass’ woman! Flock of Wolves answers several lingering questions from previous Sydney Rye adventures, but also brings up more to explore and expand upon in the future. Is Robert Maxim softening? Is Mulberry pulling away? Will… well, you’ll just have to read this awesome 10th book in this amazing series!
I loved this book and this entire series!
Flock of Wolves is a full on, adrenaline pumping, action packed, page turner that has you glued to the edge of your seat. While there are quite a few POVs this time around, it helps to consider that the story is shining a light on how Sydney Rye is inspiring the people around her. The breath of air that is giving people the courage to speak out, rise up, and find change. I love the powerful message this book spreads and I look forward to continuing on Sydney’s journey.
Once again Emily Kimelman has written an awesome book that draws you in from the start and keeps you engrossed throughout the book! You won’t be able to put the book down until the end and will be hoping for more! It was quite the roller-coaster ride and such a great book! If you like suspense, action, and a badass woman all in one book, this is the book for you! I loved the way it was written in each character’s perspective. Reading what each character is thinking as it’s happening is how I was drawn into the book so quickly! I loved every minute of this book. Thanks Emily, for another great book and look forward to the next in the series!
