He’s a hot single dad. A military man with abs of steel. My brother’s best friend. My biggest enemy. And now my fake date to my best friend’s wedding. Disasterville, here we come…Mission: Survive my best friend’s wedding, where I must play nice with my ex and his perfect new girlfriend.Strategy: Bring the hottest fake boyfriend on the planet.Target: Grady Rock. Master Baker. Dimples. Muscles. … planet.
Target: Grady Rock. Master Baker. Dimples. Muscles. The unicorn of fake boyfriends.
Complication: Wyatt Morgan. My brother’s best friend. My sworn enemy. Military man. Sexy as hell single dad. The man I let into my panties for one night of hot hate sex after my ex dumped me.
And the man who just scared off that perfect fake boyfriend.
By pretending to be my real boyfriend.
I can roll with this though. What’s the harm in Flirting with the Frenemy if it helps me get the job done?
Complete my mission and move on.
Or so I thought.
Until Wyatt kisses me again and I start feeling things I shouldn’t.
The thing about weddings…nothing ever goes as planned.
Flirting with the Frenemy is a rollicking fun romantic comedy featuring a single dad military man, an irritatingly attractive blast from his past, pirates, cursing parrots, and a wedding gone wild. It stands alone with no cheating or cliffhangers.

Very good romance with great characters and excellent dialogues
I thought it was a very good new romance from Pippa Grant, a little less eccentric than the previous ones, but still humorous and romantic. It’s a mixture of enemy relationships that become friends, fake fiances, brother’s best friend’s sister and second chance.
I really liked the characters and dialogues at the “Je t’aime, moi non plus” of the two heroes.
Ellie is dropped by his fiance a few days before Christmas when she finds the best friend of her brother who is in the army (Wyatt), a single father after his divorce. They hated each other, were constantly annoying the other when they were teenagers.
For an hour, they sleep together but Wyatt seems to regret immediately and Ellie runs away and has an accident that leaves her wounded.
Six months later, Wyatt, his son and Ellie meet in his brother’s house where they thought they would be alone. Wyatt blames himself for Ellie’s wounds, the way the night was over before and by a combination of circumstances, he finds himself having to play Ellie’s fake boyfriend so she can face her ex fiance, without shame. However despite the large number of teasing dialogues, a link then hidden under the harsh words, begins to appear.
The feelings are very well constructed and where there might be more bitterness, I felt very well how Ellie feels that she feels now incomplete after her injury, just as Wyatt feels both responsible for what happens to Ellie, that he wants to help her , but does not think he deserves her.
I had a great time reading this story 🙂
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
This is the first of the Bro code (boyband) books. It is enemies to lovers, best friends sister book! Wyatt is a military pilot and single Dad who falls for his best friends sister after years of being frenemies. The dialogue between these characters is so sharp and witty it makes you grin out loud and laugh. You can feel the sizzle and chemistry. It reminds me of old tv show like ( moonlighting and Remington Steele) and I literally devoured it all in one setting. This is Laugh out loud Smoldering good read with a cussing Parrot named Long Beak Silver, a Pirate festival in a town named Shipwreck, Lots of Banana pudding, donuts, Sneezing and Vaporal ( you will get that after you read it). It was off the charts funny, sexy and entertaining. Your only regret after reading this is that you did not read it sooner! Wyatt is my new book boyfriend
ARC in exchange for an honest review. So I’m just going to jump right in and say that I love a good brother’s best friend trope, and this was definitely not a let down. Wyatt and Ellie are a hot mess with amazing chemistry. Their development is wonderful and Tucker steals every scene that he is in. I literally laughed out loud when Beck was on the scene. I can’t wait to read more of the Bro Code series, this was a fantastic kickoff.
Flirting With the Frenemy was a nice enjoyable read.
When Wyatt went to live with his grandma he made a lot of new friends around the neighbourood. His best friend’s little sister always wanted to play with them and in the end he always found himself bickering with the girl.
Now after so many years their relationship is still complicated, they are not friends nor enemies and maybe they are only deceiving themselves about their real feelings for each other.
I liked Ellie and Wyatt since the beginning, and from the start point I could have assured you there was something more than hate between them. I couldn’t read it fast enough to know more about these characters.
This was the first time I read Pippa Grant’s novels but it won’t be the last, thanks to the snippet at the end of this book I can’t wait to get the next in the series.
This first book in the Bro Code series is definitely a delight to read. It introduces a new cast of characters whose stories I can’t wait to read. It also introduces a hilarious new setting–the town of Shipwreck–that made me want to pack my bags and move (although I may fit in better in the neighboring town of Sarcasm). Ellie and Wyatt, former Bro Code member Beck’s sister and best friend, respectively, are both dealing with some pretty heavy issues, and it’s wonderful to see these two fall in love and be everything the other one needs. Because of the seriousness of these two characters and what they’re dealing with, this one doesn’t have as much slapstick humor as what can be found in many of Pippa’s books, but it still has plenty of laugh-out-loud moments and falls squarely in the rom-com category. It looks like Beck’s book is next, and I can already tell that it will be snort-inducing funny, just from the sneak peek we get at the end of this book. I absolutely can’t wait!
OMG! I absolutely loved this fun, flirty, smart, snarky, sexy enemies to lovers romance!
Ellie and Wyatt have a crazy history. They practically grew up together, and have consistently annoyed the heck out of each other for years. Their relationship has been to goad and cajole and generally find fault with whatever the other is doing. And that worked for them for years. Until it didn’t.
Until they finally realized what they were feeling for each other wasn’t annoyance at all, it was actually something much more. And neither was quite ready for it.
I loved Ellie and Wyatt’s romance. Loved their crazy banter. Loved their love of friends and family.
And speaking of family and friends. I loved Beck, Monica and Jason. And holy moly the whole Shipwreck Festival was hilarious—sword fights, pirate costumes, digging for treasure, and so much more. And I cannot wait for Beck’s story next!
Oh my, Wyatt! Ellie & Wyatt are absolutely one of my favorite couples in Pippa Grant’s books! I could not put this one down. I’m definitely suffering a book hangover today! I love all of these characters & the feels I got from this book, simply amazing!
After each Pippa book I always think this was the best one yet. But this one…this one is the best one because it brings two broken people together in a beautiful way. I love Wyatt and Ellie together!!
Pippa’s rom-com writing style in this book is less slapstick hilarity and more romantic fun. There are plenty of laugh out loud parts, but this is the first book by Pippa where I didn’t choke on something tried to eat or drink.
Ellie is a strong independent woman who has planned her life and when it goes off plan she feels unlovable. Wyatt is a grown man who still feels the hurt of a child who had a challenging childhood.
I loved meeting these new characters and can see them interacting with all of Pippa’s other characters in fun and hilarious ways.
I received an ARC for an honest review. I’m thrilled to get the opportunity to get my hands on Pippa’s book early to enjoy it and not have to wait for release day.
Pippa Grant gives us another hilarious new series, Bro Code. Bro Code was introduced in Pippa’s first book, Mister McHottie, as the favorite boy band of several of the characters. This series centers around this band. Ellie is the sister of Brek Ryder, Bro Code member and underwear model. She has had an antagonist relationship with Wyatt, Brek’s best friend, since they were kids. After a disastrous hookup, they are thrust together six months later when Wyatt and Ellie both show up at Brek’s house. Ellie is there to be in a wedding where her cheating ex will be part of the wedding party. Of course, Wyatt ends up playing the role of boyfriend. Hilarity ensues with a pirate themed wedding, a fowl mouthed parrot, and marauding goats. Loved all of the characters in this book and I cannot wait for Brek’s book! I was given an ARC of this book from the author for my honest review.
This book is the perfect combination of hilarious, sexy and sweet!
Wyatt and Ellie have annoyed each other for years so when annoyed suddenly turns to attraction they are at a loss. Sexy best-friend’s-little-sister hijinks? Pirate wedding? Goat invasion? Yes please! But best of all, besides the crazy funny shenanigans that had people looking at me funny while I read in the dentist waiting room, there is a sweet story of two people falling in love. And that’s why I love Pippa Grant’s stories…she makes me laugh out loud and swoon…sometimes on the same page. I can’t wait for Beck’s story!!
I did not see myself loving this one, but Ms. Grant strikes again! Each book gets funnier somehow, no clue how she does it, tears stream down my face and my family knows I’m reading a Pippa book! Wyatt and Ellie brought me so much joy, and all without hockey, I was shocked. I’m used to the Thrusters being involved at least peripherally and I don’t think there was even a mention of it. I loved every second of this enemy to lovers, brothers best friend journey and I’m can’t wait for Beck’s story! He sounds like quite the character already!
A landlocked town called Shipwreck? Only in one of Pippa Grant’s rollicking rom-coms! From the pirates to the goats this book will have you giggling and laughing out loud. Wyatt and Ellie are so good for each other but can they risk being together? Will the Universe let them be together??
No one combines swoon and sarcasm quite like Pippa Grant! I mean, who knew insults could also be sweetly hilarious?! Flirting With the Frenemy will keep you laughing and your heart melting from start to finish. I laughed so hard while reading this I had tears running down my face and then I was happy sighing just as much from how much I adored Wyatt and Ellie! This is definitely one of those reads where you’ll be smiling nonstop.
The chemistry these two have is nothing short of electric with sparks flying like crazy every time they’re near each other. All those sparks and all the fantastic banter don’t take away from some seriously, at times hilariously, sweet moments that steal your heart.
5 stars
I seriously can’t with Pippa Grant! I have no words to describe the tomfoolery her books are and how ridiculously much I love them! This book is the zaniest, wackiest book with over the top characters I am utterly mad about!
Wyatt and Ellie aren’t supposed to work, in fact everything in the universe might be trying to tell them that, but I’ve never seen two people who needed each other more. I love everything about them together; the fighting, the name calling, the insult hurling, the awkward-ing (Ellie’s word), the falling in love while their backs were turned. Add in one super cute little boy, seriously amazing best friends and the funniest pirate wedding ever and you’re in for an awesome crazy train ride…otherwise known as, a Pippa Grant book!
Bring on the next one!
AnnMarie – Alphas Do It Better Book Blog
Flirting with the Frenemy is book one in the brand new series, Bro Code by Pippa Grant. I would call this a cross between the enemies to lovers trope, the brother’s best friend trope, and the single dad trope.
Ellie Ryder thought she knew what she wanted in life. She had the career she wanted. And the man she’s been dating for the past two years checked off all the boxes. Until he dumped her on Christmas Eve. Not wanting to be alone at her own place, she goes to her parents home and who does she find in the basement but her arch nemesis, her brother’s best friend, the man who has given her a hard time her entire life, goaded her at every turn, made her life miserable, and maybe made her work harder, strive harder, do better! He is also hurting for reasons of his own. Maybe they both just wanted to forget their pain for just a few minutes, or maybe this thing was there all along and they never realized it. In a moment of weakness, they give in. Only this is the last night that Ellie will be the Ellie she knows herself to be. This is the night her world turned upside down and everything changed.
Wyatt Morgan is Ellie’s brother Beck’s best friend. Beck was more like a brother to Wyatt and his parents practically adopted him. He and Ellie have always irritated each other. Everything was always a competition between them. Wyatt is divorced. His ex moved back to Copper Valley with their son, Tucker. But Wyatt is in the military and he is stationed in Georgia, five hundred miles away. There is nothing he can do.
It’s been six months since that night, since he last saw Ellie. Wyatt has his son for the summer and they are spending a week at Beck’s house in Shipwreck, Virginia for the pirate festival. Only it seems like Beck has an ulterior motive for offering up his house because when they arrive, the house most definitely is not empty. Ellie is there.
Ellie’s best friend is getting married and she is the maid of honor. It’s going to be a pirate wedding during the pirate festival in Shipwreck and she’s staying at her brother’s house. She certainly didn’t expect Wyatt and his little boy to arrive. Her brother most definitely had something to do with this. Ellie’s ex boyfriend is also in the wedding so to escape embarrassment; her friend is going to pose as her date for the week. Only as soon as Wyatt finds out, he steps in and ruins everything, making everyone believes he is her real boyfriend.
“I haven’t laughed this much in ages. And all it took was learning not to hate Wyatt. Who knew?”
Ellie and Wyatt are once again faced with that thing, that chemistry, that pull. Only every time they give in to it, something awful happens. Is the universe against them? Are they cursed? Or is she just afraid?
This was so much fun. The wedding alone was hilarious. It sounds like so much fun. Wyatt was the swooniest! Hot military guy with adorable son who swoops in to save the day on several occasions! I say yes! Ellie was adorable as well. She faced so much and was so brave. I loved watching her finally give in to Wyatt.
This was sweet and fun and sexy. I enjoyed it so much. This new series has so much promise. The next book will be about Beck and already promises to be hilarious. It is called America’s Geekheart. I can’t wait.
“I didn’t believe in forever until I believed in you.”
Flirting with the Frenemy (Bro Code #1) by Pippa Grant is a contemporary, second chance, enemies to lovers, fake relationship, romantic comedy told in dual POV.
Ellie and Wyatt have known each other forever. He’s her older brother Beck’s childhood best friend. Wyatt and Ellie have always bickered and annoyed each other. Except for that one night, when they used each other for comfort. It was Christmas time, Ellie had just been dumped, and Wyatt’s divorce had just been finalized. He immediately expressed his regrets which resulted in her running off upset and getting into a serious car accident. Wyatt blamed himself and tried to apologize, but Ellie refused to take his calls.
It’s now six months later. Ellie is staying at Beck’s vacation home in the small, pirate town of Shipwreck, VA for her best friend Monica’s wedding to her ex-boyfriend’s brother. She has no idea that Beck has also offered his place to Wyatt and his son, Tucker, to enjoy the town’s pirate festival. Dreading seeing her ex again, Ellie plans to bring a hot friend to the wedding as her fake boyfriend. When Wyatt scares him off, he’s forced to fill the role himself.
With a thin line between love and hate, Ellie and Wyatt soon find themselves confused about their feelings. Have all their years of fighting really been foreplay? And with one disaster after another is it even safe for them to be together? Or is the universe against them? And where did all those goats come from? Read the book to find out!
I loved this story. Wyatt and Ellie’s snarky, witty banter was so fun. Their history together was sweet and endearing. Quirky, charming, and an absolute delight! I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.
*** I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. ***
*I received an advance copy of this book from the author, in exchange for an honest review.*
Wow. Just… wow. The dynamic between these two characters was incredible. There was so much sexual tension that built up throughout the book. Which made it all the sweeter when they did finally get together.
I loved the fierceness and strength of Ellie. And she was not shy about asking for what she wanted from Wyatt.
And Wyatt is just awesome. I mean, what can I say against a man who cleans?! But seriously, I don’t really go for the single dad trope often, but here it really worked. Wyatt is an amazing dad. I am always a sucker for fake relationships though, so this book definitely delivered.
Together, the two of them were fun. I loved the way they bantered with each other without crossing the line into being cruel. And the pirates and goats made the story all the more entertaining to read.
And what review is complete without mentioning THAT scene? For my part, I loved it! It was sexy, hilarious (for me, not so much for the characters), and so sweet at the end with Wyatt being a total trooper about the whole thing. It was clearly an embodiment of Pippa’s motto: Bang. Laugh. Love.
It was a bit unfair that it ended on a mini cliffhanger leading up to the sequel. For the first time I had to read an excerpt just to find out more. Although I can’t imagine anyone not wanting to read the next one anyway. And the bonus epilogues were great. But the last one left me with so many more questions than answers. How long until the next one comes out?!
Flirting with the Frenemy by Pippa Grant is the first book in her new Bro Code series and oh boy what a ride that was.
Ellie Ryder and Wyatt Morgan knew each other since forever. He’s the three year older best friend of her brother and they’re accostumed to needle each other. They’re famous for their bicker and banter and their blunt riffling each others feathers.
They’re annoyed with each other and both have issues. They’re a bit broken and could healing each other. But that would be too easy.
Flirting with the Frenemy is just that, a story that frlirts with his reader, his characters and at the same time has a lot of depth going on.
It’s a rom/com of it’s finest, withexcellent writing and a beautiful story with twists and turns that made me laugh and swoon. I’m a huge sucker for single dad stories and throw a military man in the mix – yay, sign me up.
The story ends in kind of a cliffie and now I need the next book in the story.
I have read every book that Pippa Grant haas written. Every. Single. One. And they just keep getting better and better. This crazy adventurous, sexy and full of fun story is now at the top of that list. It’s so freaking hilarious, but, I mean, come on. It’s Pippa Grant, it’s WHAT she does, and does extremely well.
This is a new series and starts of with Ellie and Wyatt who spend an awkward night together and when it was over, it was over. Poor Ellie was out in the cold, metaphorically speaking at least.
Wyatt is Ellie’s brother’s best friend. They’ve had a special love/hate relationship from the moment they first met, but after that night it was more hate than ever before. She’ll be happy if she never lays eyes on him again, but fate isn’t having any of that nonsense and six months later, they’re forced to be in each others presence once more.
When Ellie sees Wyatt again, she’s sure she can guard against any rogue feelings that might try to get the upper hand on her. Wyatt and his young son are no match for her and she’s soon falling harder than last time.
I loved the snarky, sexy banter between these two, Ellie is a fun character, she’s got a lot to say but gets hung up on some issues. She’s full of life though and will make Wyatt suffer just enough before letting him off the hook.
Wyatt, has a lot on his plate, with his young son and his past, but he doesn’t let that stop him from being a fabulous, caring dad and an overall, great, sexy hunk of a guy.
There were lots of secondary characters and Pippa took the time to fill us in on some of their history too, and leaving us wanting to know more..
This is shaping up to be as great as the ongoing books that Pippa has out already, and if you haven’t read any others, then you should treat yourself and get on it. Binge read ALL those babies. You’ll thank me for it afterwards.
This is the first book in a new series from this talented author, and what an amazing introduction this is. Ellie and Wyatt have always had a love / hate thing going on, as he is her brothers’ best friend. This is a fabulous story which is well written and is sweet, fun, entertaining, steamy and hilarious. I was totally captivated throughout this romantic comedy, and cannot wait to read more from this author, whose work I highly recommend for all.
