He’s a hot single dad. A military man with abs of steel. My brother’s best friend. My biggest enemy. And now my fake date to my best friend’s wedding. Disasterville, here we come…Mission: Survive my best friend’s wedding, where I must play nice with my ex and his perfect new girlfriend.Strategy: Bring the hottest fake boyfriend on the planet.Target: Grady Rock. Master Baker. Dimples. Muscles. … planet.
Target: Grady Rock. Master Baker. Dimples. Muscles. The unicorn of fake boyfriends.
Complication: Wyatt Morgan. My brother’s best friend. My sworn enemy. Military man. Sexy as hell single dad. The man I let into my panties for one night of hot hate sex after my ex dumped me.
And the man who just scared off that perfect fake boyfriend.
By pretending to be my real boyfriend.
I can roll with this though. What’s the harm in Flirting with the Frenemy if it helps me get the job done?
Complete my mission and move on.
Or so I thought.
Until Wyatt kisses me again and I start feeling things I shouldn’t.
The thing about weddings…nothing ever goes as planned.
Flirting with the Frenemy is a rollicking fun romantic comedy featuring a single dad military man, an irritatingly attractive blast from his past, pirates, cursing parrots, and a wedding gone wild. It stands alone with no cheating or cliffhangers.

Omg so many funny moments. I love all the characters in this book so much. Book one in an all new series about a group of neighborhood friends and their boy band. Book one is Wyatt a single dad and Ellie, sister of Beck Ryder of Bro Code. Wyatt is Becks’s best friend since childhood. Ellie and Wyatt do not get along after a night they both used each other to deal with some painful moments. Now Ellie is supposed to attend her friends wedding only issues, her ex will be there with his new girlfriend. So she needs a fake date but hers backs out. Now she is stuck with Wyatt. Things quickly pick and up from there. This book is a blast. Lots of laugh out loud moments, zany characters, pirate themed weddings in a pirate themed town.
Great start to the series! I laughed out loud several times and I’m looking forward to more. And I really want to attend a Pirate wedding now!
Over the past couple of weeks I have been binging on Poppa Grant’s Bro Code books. The characters and world building in these books are phenomenal. Plus, I’ve laughed out loud, cried, and fell in love over and over again with everyone! I can’t recommend them highly enough.
Shut the front door, close the curtains and get ready to be transported into Shipwreck’s community. Chuckled at the antics happening around each corner. Must read to escape for a while.
I started drinking the Kool-Aid that is Pippa Grant with the Bluewater Billionaires. I haven’t laughed that hard over text messages and emojis in forever. I also had read Stud in the Stacks, and well, if all librarians were like Knox, well, our libraries would be filled with happy readers. So, I was super excited to receive Flirting with the Frenemy. I had to adjust to this new cast of characters and Bro Code.
What a ride! Banana pudding, (yet another) crazy cussing parrot, Frogger, Super Mario, explosions, fires, and wild goats are just a few of the things you will encounter on this wild wedding week for Ellie’ s best friend. Ellie and Wyatt have always hated each other, except when they don’t. I continually hear that there’s a fragile line between love and hate, this novel personifies that in their relationship. Unfortunately, there’s also some hurt that must be waded through to reach the happily ever after. Fortunately, these two are up to the job, and it makes for a hilarious but lovely story.
My first book in the Bro Code (Lord, Pippa obviously loves the boy bands), and being a bit older, I’m wincing. Punk girl here. But the characters are so loveable that I will even deal with New Kids, N’Sync, and the Backstreet Boys for this bunch.
I love Pippa Grant’s writing! Flirting with the Frenemy had me laughing and smiling the entire time.
Ellie is a strong, smart, and independent woman trying to find herself after a debilitating accident. Wyatt is a strong, dependable newly divorced dad that wants to be in his son’s life. The two meet up for the first time since the night of Ellie’s accident at Beck’s(Ellie’s brother and Wyatt’s BFF)house after Beck set them up. Ellie and Wyatt have known each other since they were kids; as Becks’s BFF and younger sister, they’ve always had a frenemies/one upsmanship relationship that they haven’t quite grown out of.
Ellie and Wyatt are perfect for eachother, add in the Bro Code family, a wacky BFF, a pirate themed wedding and the antics in a small town during a pirate festival, and you have one hell of a super fun and funny book, with romance and a HEA.
These books are just full of awesomeness. I have fallen hard for the Bro code and their laugh out loud antics. The pirate theme adds to the special romance of this story. Don’t miss Wyatt and Ellie, their romance is the first in this series and will spur your interest in the next. TBR time.
Great characters! And laugh out loud funny moments.
With every Pippa Grant book I read I love her more and more. Part of me wants to keep binge reading every book she’s written and part of me doesn’t want to because then they’ll be over and I won’t have anything to look forward to when I need an easy, fun and slightly steamy story. (But yeah, I’m going to binge them all now and re-read then later). They are great for when you want quirky, low drama storylines that will have you smiling and swooning at the same time. I’ve seen a few reviews say they are too silly, so no, they may not be for everyone, but I sure am enjoying them. (Plus I read these out of order and already loved the craziness of Shipwreck)
Wyatt -sexy, Air Force pilot, single dad- of course I love him. He’s trying to give his son that he doesn’t get to see enough the best vacation ever at Shipwreck’s anual Pirate festival which happens to be the site of Ellie’s best friend’s wedding. Ellie is his best friend’s sister and they’ve always had a complicated relationship- more so after their “mistake” of one night of passion when they were both hurting six months ago. But that night took an even more horrible turn for Ellie leaving her with literal and figurative scars. Wyatt (and his son, Tucker) are just what she needs.
This checks so many of my favorite sub genre boxes. Rom Com, Brother’s best friend, enemies to lovers, Single Dad, military, with a hint of fake relationship (since Wyatt acts as her boyfriend thanks to her BFF marrying her ex’s brother.) I don’t know how she’ll top this with Beck’s story but I’m ready to find out.
One of the funniest romcoms I’ve ever read. Had me laughing and smiling the whole way through!
I listened to this on audio and absolutely LOVED it. I laughed and, yes, even cursed and may have snorted and giggled at the pirate wedding chaos but it was so much F-U-N! Wyatt is a single dad who has been transferred to a base in Georgia and now is far away from his young son but at Christmas he is camping out on his adopted parents couch when Ellie shows up at her parents house after a breakup with her boyfriend when she expected to get engaged. These two have had a love/hate/friendship all through school but there is a lot of chemistry and one kiss leads to so much more until Ellie runs and ends up getting into a serious accident. Six months later, it turns out they are sharing one of Beck’s houses for a few days, while Wyatt and his son, Tucker, are on vacation and while Ellie is in her best friend’s wedding. After a dunk in the bathtub and secrets told to the pirates, Wyatt ends up being Ellie’s boyfriend for the wedding. Oh, the fun and mayhem that ensues is priceless. Make sure you listen or read all the way to the end, all the epilogues (right up to 50 years later) are well worth it! I highly recommend this one.
This book was freaking hilarious!! The internal struggles of Ellie and Wyatt is funny to say the least. Throughout this book you will laugh and feel bad for them. They are both stubborn but in the end the knew they needed each other.
One of my favorite books. I laughed out loud over some of the antics of the goat and parrot. The story with the bakers was very well done.
What a great story about Ellie and Wyatt. Nothing better than reading about all the characters that live in Shipwreck and Sarcasm. I can’t wait to see what happens with Ellie and Wyatt after this book….but I think Beck will hold our attention next time.
Audio Review
Ellie has to attend her best friends wedding and her douchebag ex will be there with the woman he was cheating on her with. How fun is this gonna be. Wyatt has his son and they need a vacation from life so when his best friend offers him his vacation home he takes him up on the offer. Little did he know said friends little sister would be there. Wyatt and Ellie have always had a hate/hate relationship, that is up until 6 months ago when sparks flew but tragedy incurred right after as well so they were not destined to be together or were they? This is a great story of childhood friends that truly loved each other even though their entire relationship was based on besting the other. There are lots of things going on in this book all of which are funny as well as they emotions between these two characters.
Erin Mallon and Joe Arden are great as Ellie and Wyatt. Loved listening to them throughout the entire audiobook.
Loved this one and highly recommend it.
A touch of tragedy, a lot of laughing, and a ton of romance. I loved Wyatt and Ellie’s story. He is her brother’s best friend. Should they get together or should they ignore their growing attraction to each other? Throw in Wyatt’s son and Ellie’s ex, and the crazy pirate festival and a wedding. Lots of fun!
This is the first book in the Bro Code Series. I loved this Romantic Comedy and Single Dad story. Ellie and Wyatt’s story is hilarious, heartwarming, and also beautiful. Tucker, Wyatt’s son, is a cute and fun kid. The secondary characters are also really great. I love the family spirit in this story. The Epilogues are epic! Now I can’t wait for the next book in the Series, America’s Geekheart, Beck’s story (Ellie’s brother).! Erin Mallon and Joe Arden did an amazing job with the narration! I enjoyed my listening.
I’m not usually an enemies to lovers fan. It’s too easy to slide into meaningless bickering that’s masquerading as real conflict. But Flirting with the Frenemy ticked so many boxes for me! Fake relationship! Brother’s best friend! Military hero! Caretaker hero! Pirate wedding! Okay I didn’t know I needed that in my life until I read it and now I want to go to Shipwreck, Georgia. Double squee cannon salute!
Flirting with the Frenemy
Bro Code, Book 1
By: Pippa Grant
Narrated by: Erin Mallon, Joe Arden
Pippa Grant is fast becoming my go to for rom com entertainment! This first book in her new Bro Code series had me laughing out loud and falling in love. What a combination! Ellie has a one night stand with her brother’s best friend, Wyatt after being dumped on Christmas Eve. Trying to hide her pain, she was hoping Wyatt would take it away, at least for the night. Fast forward six month, and they are now tricked into sharing a house while Ellie gets ready for a destination wedding for her best friend. Wyatt, brings his adorable son Tucker, and these two find their irritation for each other growing into something else. But will years of annoyance ever really change? I have to say, the characters in this story are so real to me, that I think the humor just comes so easily. Ellie and Tucker and amazing, both have goals, and their ability to cause annoyance quickly is so funny! But for me, Tucker steals the show! That little boy is a source of wonder and joy. Bring on this love story, you will love how it starts and evolves, with exasperatingly funny scenes, passion and love.
Erin Mallon and Joe Arden are one of my dream teams. They flow together so well, each with comedic flare. I think their voices compliment each other and I find myself listening to them as if I am coming home to good friends. They bring all the emotional pull along with the laughter. This is a must listen!

Cozy up with the enemy? Hmm..
Did you ever have that experience in grade / middle school, the ones with that particular “someone” you treated differently, you couldn’t stand them, you always told them so, as well as anyone else who would listen- but somehow always end up around that person? That person did the same to you, driving everyone around you bonkers?
That’s the kind of feel I got from this story- snarky, sassy, fun fueled by sexual tension, years of pent up confusion and months guilt Wyatt and Ellie make for an intriguing, endearing adorably unstable pair!
Fictitious and delicious, if pirates, goats, insta feels, a scallywag talking bird, and witty, crazy banter heightened by video games, donuts, and banana pudding don’t sound like they’d make way to a hearts smiling HEA, well it may not be the book for you!
Me? I loved every crazy, hot, laughable moment!
