He’s a hot single dad. A military man with abs of steel. My brother’s best friend. My biggest enemy. And now my fake date to my best friend’s wedding. Disasterville, here we come…Mission: Survive my best friend’s wedding, where I must play nice with my ex and his perfect new girlfriend.Strategy: Bring the hottest fake boyfriend on the planet.Target: Grady Rock. Master Baker. Dimples. Muscles. … planet.
Target: Grady Rock. Master Baker. Dimples. Muscles. The unicorn of fake boyfriends.
Complication: Wyatt Morgan. My brother’s best friend. My sworn enemy. Military man. Sexy as hell single dad. The man I let into my panties for one night of hot hate sex after my ex dumped me.
And the man who just scared off that perfect fake boyfriend.
By pretending to be my real boyfriend.
I can roll with this though. What’s the harm in Flirting with the Frenemy if it helps me get the job done?
Complete my mission and move on.
Or so I thought.
Until Wyatt kisses me again and I start feeling things I shouldn’t.
The thing about weddings…nothing ever goes as planned.
Flirting with the Frenemy is a rollicking fun romantic comedy featuring a single dad military man, an irritatingly attractive blast from his past, pirates, cursing parrots, and a wedding gone wild. It stands alone with no cheating or cliffhangers.

Pippa Grant uses the small town of Shipwreck to create a crazy world for her characters. Ellie and Wyatt remind me of neighbor kids who used to play together and gave each other a bad time because they secretly crushed on each other. Once Ellie finds herself in a situation where she needs help, Wyatt jumps to her aid.
Like the saying; the enemy of my enemy is my friend, what begins as fake, starts to blossom. And feelings that were always there just under the surface, start to emerge. Ellie is strong and fiercely independent. Wyatt is strong and protective. He allows Ellie to assert her independence and when she finally wears herself out from fighting to be self-sufficient, Wyatt is there to help her see that it is OK to need other people.
The subplots are wonderful, such as: Wyatt’s son, Tucker (who is adorable). Add in Ellie’s brother (Wyatt’s best friend, Beck) who “accidentally” places Wyatt and Ellie in his vacation home at the same time and you start to get an idea that the stars are aligning for these two. This story is sweet and fun with plenty of heat.
So much joy!
Is Pippa Grant a humorous romance author? You bet she is. But what readers often overlook is the depth of emotion also present in her writing. This book especially. There are so many laugh out loud moments in this book, and with every laugh, there is a counterbalance of seriousness, a depth that I could not resist. Dare I say this is Pippa Grant’s best book to date? And since it’s the start of a new series, this is the perfect book to jump into! I loved this book!
Another fantastic rom-com from Ms. Grant. As always, the story line is captivating, the characters well developed and the plot has it ALL – humor, love, heat, sweet and swoon worthy moments, goats, stuck-up in laws, themed wedding, pirate’s booty, foul mouthed parrot and so much more!
Pippa Grant is a comedic genius, and if you like laugh out lout romcoms, you definitely want to read Flirting with the Frenemy!
There’s such a great balanced ratio of romance, drama and comedy, that it’s the perfect plan for a balmy weekend at the beach. Plus, who wouldn’t love a parrot dropping the f bomb or a treasure hunt for a peg leg? Have plans for Talk Like a Pirate Day’ yet? Now you do!
Funny, sweet, laugh out loud ridiculousness that had me wanting more. Elle and Wyatt are a great frenemy’s to lovers. I fell in love with the whole group from their childhood neighborhood. Great read when you are looking for a feel good fun loving book.

Spanish & English Opinion
ESP ::
ENG ::
Entertaining story with original events and details. Ellie is a particular heroine and so is the tow where the story happens (a pirate town!).
Wyatt is a hot, alpha, single father that has lots of sexual tension and funny banter with Ellie. Their dynamic is highly entertaining.
The only thing that was a bit confusing was that I felt like I needed to read something first in order to fully comprehend some important aspects. (There were moments when there were mentioned some characters and it seemed that besides mentioning the name, there was no need to explain something else because the name already did. Since this is my first book from the author… it was confusing.)
However, if you keep reading, you manage to fill the gaps. Definitely many funny stuff and Tucker is really cute.
Flirting with the Frenemy was the first book I read by Pippa Grant. It is the first book in the Bro Code series. In this book Ellie has just broken up with her long-time boyfriend. Devastated she goes home to her parents where she runs into her brother’s best friend, Wyatt. Things heat up between the two and they end up hooking up. After Wyatt says it should not have happened and Ellie gets upset and leaves. After she leaves, she gets in a terrible car accident. After Wyatt does not see or hear from Ellie, that is until they both end up staying at Ellie’s brother’s house. The two are forced to spend time together, and are only pushed closer together when Wyatt has to pretend to be Ellie’s boyfriend for her best friend’s wedding. Things begin to heat up and the two get closer but they also must overcome things in their own personal lives as long as their own fears.
I can honestly say that I do not know what took me so long to pick up a Pippa Grant book. Flirting with the Frenemy was so wonderfully written. The story was very engaging, and I could not put the book down ! The characters were all fantastic. Before starting I knew that some of the characters would get their own books and I cannot wait to read them all. This book has just the right amount of romance and humor. I highly recommend this book!
Favorite Quotes:
“Embrace what’s better, Ellie. Change what you can change. Fix what you can fix. Accept the rest.”
I loved this hilarious and heartfelt frenemy to lovers romance! Ellie and Wyatt have known each other since they were young, practically growing up together. They loved to tease and provoke each other at every opportunity. When Wyatt got married and was station in the military out of state, Ellie was heartbroken. When Wyatt returns, years later, divorced and a single dad, they realize they can’t deny their fiery attraction and have an explosive night of passion. Wyatt had been taken in by Elli’s family and he was afraid he would lose the only real love he ever had if things went bad. So when he started having second thoughts, Ellie ran and almost lost her life. Now six month’s later they are back in each other’s lives for a friends ‘pirate themed’ wedding. They try to make the best of it, but when old feelings, and passions come back to the surface, they find it impossible to deny. Will they be able to make it work when they live in different states, or will they part, heartbroken for good this time? This was such a hilarious, sweet, and steamy romance. The different pirate themed activities were so clever awkward, and funny, I loved it all.
Erin Mallon, and Joe Arden did a great job narrating this delightful romcom and bringing it to life. I love both their voices, along with their flawless comedic timing and dynamic voice changes as they delivered the clever, fast paced, snarky banter. They really brought out the push/pull between both Wyatt and Ellie, and allowed us to experience their strengths and vulnerabilities, and their sexual tension was palpable! They made this hilarious, heartfelt, and steamy story even better.
Another great read from Laura John in her Love in Sienna Series. We have our previous characters from the previous 5 books and our 2 main characters Meadow and Kyle are also involved in previous stories. This time it’s their turn.
Meadow has talked herself into thinking she will never get her happy after or fall in love, after her past relationships have left her with a bad taste in her mouth.
Kyle is a single dad, who doesn’t have time for love, with his daughter, his career as a manager to Dustin whom we met in previous stories, and his dream he has kept on hold of being his own Music Performer.
This is a meeting where sparks fly straight away for these two, but both saying to each other one night only as they both have plans that dont include falling in love, even the one night of sex is “hot damn”
I love how Laura writes into her stories real life issues that affect people and their lives, in this case its Meadow and her inability to not blame herself for her parents accidental death 19 years previously, and all the built up guilt she carries.
Kyle falls straight away for Meadow and despite Meadows ability to keep him at bay, Kyle doesn’t give up.
There is so much camaraderie between all these characters and how they are all so entwined with each other.
I think this is Laura’s best book to date and I love how she has left us with some characters still looking for love for the next in the series.
thank you Laura.
I’m just not sure where to go with this review. I forced myself to read the whole book and give it a chance. I don’t like to leave bad reviews or slam authors since they work so hard to put one together but, this was hard to get through. Wyatt and Ellie have been friends forever, her brother is his best friend. Wyatt is military, divorced and shares custody of his son Tucker. Ellie, just out of a relationship has to attend the wedding of her best friend and her ex and his girlfriend will be there. So Wyatt and Ellie decide to go as a couple. There are some funny parts, the parrot is hilarious, Tucker is cute but I just felt it was mass confusion.
4 Bro Code Stars
Flirting with the Frenemy is book one in the series, Bro Code by Pippa Grant. I would call this a cross between the enemies to lovers, Brother’s best friend and single Dad, this has everything.
I lift my eyes to his, and that’s a mistake. Because he’s promising me a lot of retribution in that colorful gray gaze. And if you think gray can’t be colorful, you’ve never pissed off a gray-eyed man.
Wyatt and Ellie have a long history of bickering and trying to one up each other. A mistake one night has both reeling and leaving them both not quite sure what’s going on.
Pippa Grant is quite easily my favourite rom-com author, I absolutely loved this fun, flirty, smart, snarky, sexy enemies to lover’s romance! She always has the perfect amount of emotion and romance to make a book great for me. The secondary characters were so great and left me wanting their stories. I’m looking forward to diving farther into the Bro Code Series
Oh my goodness! This book is jam packed with hilarious situations, some of them verging on the best of classic farce, sneezegasms, and warm family moments filled with love. But for Ellie, reaching her HEA is one which has its own troubles and anxieties. She and Wyatt have a history which dates back to their childhood and masses of miscommunication and misunderstanding. Combine this with a delightful seven year old, Tucker, a brilliant family, a wedding that is totally crazy, potty mouthed parrots and you have all the ingredients for a a book which will leave you happier than when you started. Fabulous!
Love the bond between them.
After reading four novels from this author, I was undecided which book I should read next. Best solution, follow the suggested reading order so it was back to book 1 to start from the beginning in the time line.
FWTF has a few tropes all mixed into one fun story. We have brothers best friend, enemies to lovers, single dad and a sort of second chance romance. As always there’s plenty of banter and classic Grant humor. Ellie has been a thorn in Wyatt’s side since they were kids, or is it the other way around, they both get on each other’s nerves. That is, until that post Christmas night when they were both down in the dumps and their banter turned flirty…. and dirty…. and sexy. It changed Ellie’s world in ways no one saw coming. Six months later, they meet up again as Ellie is maid of honor for her bestie Morgan. To save face in front of her ex boyfriend, Ellie uses Wyatt as her date for the week long wedding activities. Nothing can go wrong again, right?
This might be the start of one series, but it ties into another and those characters make appearances too. And I love that, seeing more of these great characters can only be a bonus. If you haven’t read a Grant novel before, then you will enjoy the way she creates quirky but smart female leads and her heroes are down to earth but extremely swoony. Wyatt fits the bill here, no doubt. He is an air force pilot, let’s not get into semantics here, and the way he protects Ellie and cares for her is alluring. He is a perfect match for Ellie, as she is for him too. It’s the reason Beck, Ellie’s brother and Wyatt’s best friend sets up their reunion. I love how her parents are even on board with their relationship. And if you love an epilogue as much as I do, you’re in for a treat with them here. I’m finding I can’t get enough of these books. I can’t make up my mind who’s my favorite couple yet, and it’s on to the next book to help me decide.
This was the first book I’ve read from Pippa and it did not disappoint. I LOVED IT!!! The characters were amazing, the hijinks were hilarious and the buildup of the love story was perfect. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! <3
Off the Charts Hot!
A friend of mine recommended this series and I’m so glad she did. Flirting with the Frenemy is laugh out loud funny. This book is filled with pirates and dirty talking birds, and hilarious mishaps. I thought this was an outstanding romcom, and exactly what the doctor ordered. Don’t miss this off the charts got read! Now I’m ready to dive in headfirst and read the rest of the Pippa Grant backlist. Gotta go now and binge read.
Flirting with the Frenemy is the first book in the Bro Code series. Wyatt finally gets some one on one time with his son, but that’s quickly derailed with another guest using the same house, Ellie, his best friend’s little sister, and the woman he loves to annoy. They have a rocky past, but when she uses Wyatt as her pretend boyfriend, can they convince each other that they’re actually perfect for one another?
Oh my goodness, I absolutely LOVED reading this book! It was full of laughter, emotional upheaval, witty banter, a super cute little boy, and I did not want to put this book down once I started it. I’m kind of disappointed it took me so long to read it in the first place, it was that good! Ellie is determined, never backs down, a force to be reckoned with, but she has such a vulnerable side, too, and you can’t help but want to be her BFF. Wyatt is serious about being a dad and serious about his career, but I loved watching him open up and have fun, especially when it came to Ellie. There’s such a strong connection between the two characters and so much chemistry, and I adored reading as they went from enemies to friends to lovers to so much more! There’s a strong cast of side characters and I can’t wait to read some of their stories, too! I loved how Ms. Grant made you feel like you were right there in the story, sharing in with the inside jokes, that you were a part of this crazy and hilarious community, and you just can’t stop cheering for a happily ever after! I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to read more!
The first in the Bro Code series, it’s a great story of two people finding each other despite of their past history. And who doesn’t love a parrot that cusses!
Book one of the Bro Code Series starts with a bang or should I say with a pirate? Wyatt may not have been in the boy band Bro Code, but he was part of them. He grew up with Beck and the rest of the gang, but he went into the military. Beck’s sister Ellie has also always been there. They had a real “hatred” for each other. He always told her she could have done better and she always had to prove that she could be better at everything then him.
But you know what they always say hate/love has a fine line between them and they are right! These two characters burned up the pages of this book! I loved the banter between these two! Pippa as I’ve always said has a way of writing outrageous stories that feel real!
We get pirates, a salty parrot, adventure and love in a great book!
I was introduced to Pippa when I read the Bluewater Billionaire Series – great series by great authors (make sure to check them out)! Now back to the book Flirting With The Enemy was the first book in Pippa’s Bro Code Series. It had so many fun tropes – brothers best friend, enemies to lovers, single dad…I’m sure there might be more in there It was sexy, flirty and off the charts wacky…how did she come up with some of that stuff?
Ellie’s best friend was getting married to her ex boyfriend’s brother. Fun times! Her plan of bringing a fake date backfired when she somehow got a fake “real” boyfriend. Clear as mud, right?
Wyatt was the enemy, but also her brother’s best friend. How did her genius plan take such a twisted turn? Would they be able to get along or would the universe have it out for them before the wedding began?
So much fun!! I throughly enjoyed the quirkiness of the entire book. It was fun to read something light and silly. The swoon-worthiness of Wyatt sure didn’t hurt either!!
