An all new flirty, lighthearted, standalone romance by New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg guaranteed to make you swoon. Blakely Foxx is having one of those years. Her divorce may have been finalized a few months ago, but her ex is already engaged to someone half her age. Her younger boss is determined to sabotage her chance at getting the promotion she rightly deserves. And to make … the promotion she rightly deserves. And to make matters worse, she’s closing in on the big 4-0. There isn’t enough wine or ice cream in the world to convince her things will turn around.
When Blakely meets Slade Henderson, she’s left wondering why an early-thirties, hotter than hell, cardiothoracic surgeon would take an interest in her.
She’s been warned that he’ll break her heart, but she’s willing to take the chance. Not only is he helping her get that promotion, but in the process, he’s encouraging her to find the parts of herself she’s lost over the past few years.
Slade shows her that good guys really do exist, but who knew the hardest part about turning forty would be realizing the man you thought was a rebound, is actually your happily ever after?

This book was amazing. Slade is everything a lady looks for in a good boyfriend, even if he’s the pretend kind. This book was full of love and humour and everything in between. You can’t help but fall in love with these characters, even the secondary characters make you smile.
Blakely is a 39 year old divorce. She works with people who are much younger than her and with her ex husband leaving her for another woman half her age, she’s always feeling too old. It’s refreshing to read a romance about a woman who’s closer to my age of 37. A woman who feels to old to be able to find love again, something I think about often that I couldn’t possibly find love again should something happen to my husband or he decided to leave me for another woman and I’m sure many women can relate to. Her best friend, Kelsie, is a firecracker. Her one liners remind me of Haddie from Driven. We all need a best friend like her to keep us on our toes.
Throughout much of the book, Blakely is always down on herself. She has little to no self esteem and is always comparing her body to her much younger colleagues. As women, this is something that is always on our mind, at least it is on mine. Even when I was slim I hated my body, I always had it hidden under bulky sweatshirts and baggy clothes. Now as a mother of 2 who’s more than doubled the weight I was as a 17 year old I’m still ashamed of my body. My husband see’s through the fat and stretch marks and all he see’s is curves he loves and the body that gave him his two children. To read Slade think and feel the same way as that towards Blakely is refreshing. He’s falling for the woman on the inside and all he see’s are the curves that he enjoys. I’m certain there are many men out in the real world who are the same and its refreshing to see it in print in these romance novels.
The ending was perfect for this couple. It was refreshing to read a book about an older woman and I loved that the age difference wasn’t brought up a million times like it usually is by the heroine of these types of stories. Slade was much more mature than his 31 years that you didn’t notice the age difference with them at all.
Absolute 5 star read!
WOW, Flirting with 40 was such a joy to read! It was swoon worthy, fun, sweet and absolutely perfect in every way. It hits on a couple tropes: fake relationship, and age gap: older woman, younger man. I have to be honest, age gap romances are not my favorite. But, K. Bromberg hit this one out of the park, and made me love this trope so much!
Blakely is coming out of a 17 year marriage, where her ex left her for his much younger secretary. At the same time, she is trying to earn a promotion, but having to go through a younger woman to get to it. In short, she has little confidence when it comes to her age and is really unaware of how incredible she actually is. When she goes to a bar one night to drown her sorrows, Slade sits next to her and gets her to open up. But, she leaves the bar without exchanging information with him. As fate would have it, when she is having a particular rough moment seeing her ex, Slade sees her and pretends he’s her boyfriend. From there, he offers to go on her company’s bonding retreat with her, where she will be stuck in the mountains with younger coworkers that she doesn’t like. This setting becomes a major part of the book, and their relationship really grows here and Blakely’s confidence flourishes here. These two were so amazing together; the banter, the chemistry, the connection were all incredible. Slade was an absolute dreamboat. He was swoony, sweet, kind, thoughtful, and the ultimate book boyfriend. As if that’s not enough, he literally saves lives as a cardiothoracic surgeon. All in all, there was just so much to love about this book and these characters. It was, in short, absolutely perfect. You definitely need to read this one!
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A perfect read for the heart!
A real swoonworthy page turner right here. Blakely and Slades story is flirty, fun, and oh so addictive. It will leave you wanting more.
FIVE SWOONY, I CANNOT STOP SMILING STARS!!!
I was totally and completely smitten with this great guy romance!! Love is just better the second time around for Blakely. And oh boy…was it HOTTTT!
There were so many things I loved about this book. Blakely is recently divorced and struggling with starting over. When some younger, hot guy approaches her in a bar she just can’t imagine why he would want to talk to her. Her ex husband left her with broken down self-esteem and poor self-image. When she gets the opportunity, she leaves swiftly chocking the whole experience up to a fluke.
However, fate has other plans for Blakely and Slade when she runs into him on the street, while she’s chatting with her ex and his significantly younger bride-to-be. Slade to the rescue. He swiftly steps in as her younger, incredibly sexy and successful doctor boyfriend.
Slade missed his chance with her the first time, but this time he is not letting her slip through his fingers. Stepping in as her fake boyfriend just felt easy and natural. They definitely share chemistry and time spent together feels like it was meant to be.
Blakely is working on herself. She’s trying to find a new normal since she lost so much when her husband left. She no longer knows who she is, heading toward forty is also an added burden, and her boss is trying to make her life at work miserable. Slade is a problem solver and he offers to make her a to-do-list and help her to accomplish it. First mission is to accompany her on a week long, team building retreat with her work colleagues as her boyfriend.
Slade is out spoken, charming and easy to love. The man has charisma and he easily wins over everyone he meets. He is open and forthcoming and I just adored him. It doesn’t hurt that he is driven and a resident in cardio-thoracic surgery. Right now he is struggling with his own issues, but he has no problem pushing them aside to tackle Blakely’s first.
The retreat is going to be an eye-opener for both of them in so many ways.
Enjoy this incredibly sexy and sweet story that delivers so many feels and swoon-worthy romance moments that will sweep you right off your feet. I absolutely loved this story. The author captures Blakely’s struggles and her winning moments so well that you’ll be cheering for her as you read. She was definitely a work in progress as she sorted through her life and made it into what she deserved. Slade was her biggest supporter and that man could give a compliment like no other. He was smooth but completely sincere. The man was the whole package and a total catch. He makes you want one of your very own. Definitely a Must Read!
This was such a feel-good, fun, sexy, and flirty read that I couldn’t put it down. It hit some aspects of my life so a lot of it is relatable. The romance and chemistry between Blakely and Slade is amazing and had me unable to blink. But the story itself is about finding yourself, regardless of your age and going after what you want and living your true life. I finished reading with a big smile on my face.
This book is exactly what my heart needed and what the doctor ordered!!! It was light-hearted, sweet, charming, sexy, with just a touch of angst thrown in to keep me happy. I laughed and swooned the entire read.
Blakely is a very relatable character. She has insecurities that many of us women do (even if I’m not nearing 40 yet) and is unsure of should/shouldn’t she. But I sure did love watching her grow with the help of Slade.
Slade is… *swoon* Yeah. He is quite the character. He’s just what she needed when she needed it most. I loved that he only ever encouraged her to see just how wonderful she truly was. I liked that he helped her heal and grow into the woman he knew she was. He sure was sweet, charming, funny, and sexy.
All in all, this was a great read. Thank you Kristy for this advanced copy. This is my honest review.
I went into Flirting With 40 with mixed feelings. Romantic Comedies usually are not my thing, however this book just might have me changing my mind. I completely and totally loved everything about this story and it’s wonderful characters. It was flirty, fun, and totally swoon worthy. Slade and Blakely had some of the best chemistry of any couple I’ve read. I simply could not get enough of these two and wish their story did not have to end. I could have devoured so many more pages of their flirting easy banter. I could relate to this story on such a deep level. Going through a divorce myself currently this book was just the light inspirational read that I do desperately needed. I felt much better after reading it. You know a book is good when it keeps a smile on your face from the first page until the very last page. I also LOVED this was a age gap romance, they are one of my favorite troupes to read and authors don’t write them enough in my opinion.
Blakely is not your typical heroine and I am totally loving it. She was so easy to relate too and love. I warmed to her character almost instantly upon starting this book. Her fiesty spirit and sarcastic mouth definitely kept you on your toes. It was also nice to see a heroine own her insecurities and allow her vulnerabilities to shine like Blakely did. What you see is what you get with her character.
Slade is hands down one of the most perfect hero’s I have read. I was obsessed with everything about him. He was charming, energetic, and fun. He was just what this story and heroine needed. Every single word out of his mouth, and action he took had me simply melting in swoons. Don’t say I didn’t warn you now that Slade Henderson is out to own your heart.
*5 STARS*
Is well deserved for Flirting With 40! It really is such a light fantastic read. This is also hands down one of my favorite reads of 2020! If you haven’t one clicked this yet you are seriously going to be missing out on a great book. That I can NOT stress enough reading!
I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
So I hate older women/younger man romances but I was really intrigued by the plot of this story and I absolutely loved this story.
The ages of the two main characters, was actually not a prime issue in this book. It plays into some aspects of the story but its more of something that exists than it really affects the main storyline.
This is very much a romance but also about a 39 year old woman, Blakely Foxx finding herself and being true to herself. Not just in life but in her love life and most especially in her career. She has an awesome best friend who cheers her on her journey and a new younger than her friend, Slade who decides to help her find herself and help her one up her new younger than her boss, Horrible Heather and win the promotion she wants.
Slade is a 31 year old resident who is currently not allowed to work and is on a suspension. So he is bored out of his mind and when he meets Blake he wants to help her find her mojo. He is a super fun guy who doesn’t do romance but he is definitely hot and so this book has tons of sex scenes.
As the book progresses it was awesome to watch Blake find herself and her strength and win over Horrible Heather and her ex husband while learning who Blake really is. Slade was an awesome character and he really grows in this story as well, as he learns that there is more to life than just being a doctor.
Someone needs to try wipe this smile off my face
Flirting with 40 is just exactly the type of read I need right now.
I love them!!!! I cannot wait to add this beauty to my shelf.
this is a beautiful story very uplifting not just about the couples but the friendships, and how things really can be between woman in the work place.
Absolutely a heart melting 5/5 for me, perfect
I also have a girl crush on Blakely she’s written so beautifully well, and the type of girl you want in your team
4.5 Stars!
Blakely Foxx is a newly divorced woman approaching her 40’s who works in advertising for a cosmetics company. She loves her job and it’s her passion, but her younger boss seems to have it out for her, and enjoys making things difficult for her. She’s working hard to try and get the promotion she deserves and hopes there will be some good things coming her way soon. For a while now her life hasn’t turned out how she planned. Her ex is already engaged to someone new and half her age, and she’s still trying to figure out what her future holds. Then she meets a hot heart surgeon named Slade Henderson who is almost too good to be true. He’s kind, devastatingly gorgeous, and fun. He’s also younger and seems interested. It’s been way too long since a man has paid her this much attention, and she’s in uncharted territory. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d flirted with someone. He’s like a breath of fresh air and shows her nice guys still exist. He was everything she didn’t know she needed, but would she throw caution to the wind and take a chance on love?
Flirting With 40 by K. Bromberg is a fun, flirty, standalone romance about undeniable connections, second chances, and finding yourself. About not letting others steal your sparkle, and not being afraid to put yourself out there. That age is just a number, and it’s never too late to grab happiness. I really enjoyed this story and loved Slade! He’s swoony to the extreme!
I just loved this new book from K Bromberg, it was light, flirty, funny and an amazing read. It appealed to me because it was an older woman/younger man romance and we don’t get many of those. Relationships where a woman is dating a younger man are often not taking seriously which is too bad as younger men often have a lot to offer other than prowess in bed, and seriously who could not fall in love with a gorgeous sexy doctor like Slade.
Blakely is recently divorced and feels lost and discarded especially when she sees her husband dating a younger woman. She meets Slade in a bar and though attracted to him refuses to entertain the idea that he might be attracted to her. When she meets Slade again by chance she decides to go for it and invite him to a company getaway with her and what a lot of surprises she is in for both in and out of bed!
This book will have you laughing and crying at the same time while you cheer on Blakely as she goes up against her evil boss. I absolutely could not put this down until I was finished I was so wrapped up in it and as always Ms Bromberg shows her brilliance and versatility as a writer.
WOW. Flirting With 40 by K. Bromberg was such a feel good romance! In a sexy, swoony and heartwarming way. And beyond my expectations. This steamy and sweet romance put a permanent smile on my face, filled my stomach with butterflies and gave me goosebumps! Amazing. Awesome. Exceptional.
Blakely Foxx is having a hard time with her life. Her new boss is driving her crazy even when she has an accomplished career. Her ex husband is moving on and fast. She feels like her life is all time low. Untill an interesting and refreshing stranger in a bar. Cardiothoracic Surgeon Slade Henderson is not only younger. He is optimistic, charming and determined to show her that she is so much more than what she feels. But is she ready to take the leap? Is Slade ready to attach himself permanently to someone?
This story was a blast. From the very first page I was hooked to the storyline. Slade is irresistible! Heart of gold. Gorgeous body. He is always doing and thinking something positive and kind. I love his mischievous and naughty side with jaw dropping sex appeal! He is pure sunshine after a rainy day. And he filled my heart with warmth and swoon. Blakely may be older by age but Slade is beyond mature and considerate and effortlessly confident. Blakley tried to resist him but he just pushed inside her heart. And she needed someone like him to remember. The constant negativity from work and personal life suppressed the true Blakely. Who was this confident, sassy, fierce, brilliant and feisty woman. She lost herself but their adventures slowly made her fight for herself. She moved past her doubts and insecurities. And she stood up for her happiness! I loved this woman with all her struggles and achievements. She is so real and inspiring. The author dealt with the issues associated with reaching certain age so beautifully!
Slade and Blakely have a sensational chemistry. It started as playful and friendly heat as Slade challenged Blakely to tackle her fear and just go for it losing her inhibitions. And the passion started to infiltrate and then dominate their feels! It was so freaking hot for sure. The author put so much deep emotions in middle of their flirty journey! It was a dangerously addictive mix for any reader!
Firting With 40 by K. Bromberg was a colourful and absolutely adorable romance. It had everything that I love in a great romance! Brilliant storyline. Unforgettable characters. Steamy, swoonworthy and heartaching feelings. An unputdownable read for sure.
Received ARC for honest review
This amazing book goes into my list of top 2020 favorites!! K Bromberg nails life in this book!!
Blakely and Slade are such a great story. Right from the start- their connection was real. Flirty and fun and real. Blakely is struggling with where is he is at in life. Slade comes along and really empowers her.
Plus I loved all the supporting characters- everyone needs a BFF like Kelsie and even Slade with his mom and their conversations… I loved it!
I loved their chemistry, loved watching them both grow with their issues in life and work and how they supported each other!! It was amazing!!
Flirting with 40 was a breath of fresh air! I am digging this book. Blakely and Slade were rock stars in this story. What I loved about this story was the reason for it.. Age ain’t nothing but a number. Even though Blakely was the older one of the two, it seemed to me that she still had a lot of growing to do. Not intellectually, but growing to be her own woman without behind a husband. Slade was a sweetheart from the get go. He knows what he wants in life and knew how Blakely was going to achieve her own.
The romance factor is a level 10! The steaminess and all the swoons you will get will make you smile from ear to ear. I ate this story up! K. Bromberg gives is a story of hope and learning how to love ourselves just the way we are. I couldn’t get enough of this story <3
Flirting With 40 was pure perfection! A delightful, refreshing story that I didn’t know I needed in my life. I was so consumed by this book, that I finished it in a few hours. I usually take breaks, but Slade and Blakely weren’t having it. I even sacrificed sleeping to finish it in one sitting! This is so not me.
The book is different from K. Bromberg’s norm. It has hardly any angst but it was just what my heart needed. I won’t go into the plot, you’ll have to read it and meet one of my all-time favorite book boyfriends, Slade Henderson, who was everything you would want in a fictional and real-life world. I already know this book will leave me in a funk, but I don’t care! I loved it and can’t wait for her next book!
* I received an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review *
K. Bromberg has done it again with this lighthearted romance. From start to finish I was hooked. It was impossible to not fall in love with both these characters and root for them to be together in the end.
“Let it go. Take the ride. Put your toes in the sand. Howl at the moon. Do whatever it is you want to do so long as it’s in pursuit of finding you again.”
Women all over the world are praying that if they are ever in Blakely’s position, they will find a guy like Slade. While I love my bad boy heroes Slade was a breath of fresh air. It was impossible to not love everything about him. He was exactly what Blakely needed in her life at that moment and I don’t think a man her age would have been so uplifting and supportive of her. He pushed her out of her comfort zone and in the end gave her the strength to stand up for herself and love who she has become.
“I don’t see the lines around your eyes that you crack jokes about. I see evidence of laughing and living, and damn it, I want to know the story behind each and every one of them. You’re so damn hung up your age, Blakely, but when I look at you? I just see you.”
Blakely may not have been abused in her past relationship, but you can tell her self-esteem had been affected especially when he quickly became engaged to a younger version of her. Then you add her working in an industry that is branded towards the younger generation. I am not surprised she had insecurities about her looks and being good enough. Luckily, she had Slade to remind her just how amazing and beautiful she is.
I want to listen to how my body feels. How my heart is racing. How my head is swimming. How that ache in me that he created burns. And how I want….just simply want for the first time in what feels like forever.
While I do enjoy an age gap, I find it interesting that when the roles are reversed authors tend to go the “daddy” route and it is considered a forbidden romance. Maybe it was because he was in his thirties but except for Blakely’s insecurities about the age gap I didn’t really notice it because of his maturity. I think if he were in his twenties this would have been a completely different story. I am glad it went the path it did.
Somehow Ms. Bromberg knew exactly what I needed to read right now. From the moment I began reading I loved the banter between Slade and Blakely and although they caught feelings fast it was so natural, and I felt every bit of their love. They were perfect for each other. Great job K. Bromberg this is why you are one of my favorite authors!
Where can I find myself a Slade?!? Seriously, he is supportive, selfless and caring and swoony. The perfect book boyfriend! Flirting with 40 is a fun age gap romance about finding yourself and gaining confidence back in who you are as a person.
Blakely is recently divorced, she has lost herself, she is dealing with a coworker who is a complete jerk. She has had a long day, she is just trying to wind down at a bar when a man sits next to her and doesn’t take the hint that she doesn’t want the company. Slade is going through a rough patch with his career as a surgeon and has a little extra free time. From the moment Blakely and Slade meet at the bar there is a connection between them, however, Blakely is afraid of their age difference and she lacks some confidence in herself. Slade is confident, charming, sweet and supportive.
I loved the banter between Blakely and Slade. I loved the chemistry between them. There is just so much to love about these two. There is just so much to love about the two of them. Their relationship was effortless, it was fun and there were so many times throughout the story you can just see how perfect they are for each other.
Flirting with 40 is a fun MUST READ that will have you swooning from the very first page to the very last.
I always love reading a book by this author and it seems she never disappoints. Don’t let the title fool you ‘cuz it is just so much more than meets the eye. I have really enjoyed Blakely and Slade’s story and how the story was told. The author just has a way with her words to make you fall in love with every character she writes about.
Blakely is up for promotion and wants to grab it with both hands but an obnoxious boss is standing in her way and tries to knock her down every chance she gets. With a bonding retreat for the team ahead she’s not sure what to do. When she and Slade first meet, there’s an instant spark between them but with the age difference she doesn’t feel like there’s any chance he might like her for who she truly is and they part ways. But when they meet again, it’s like gravity has a way to put them together and when Blakely agrees to take him to the retreat, there might be a lot more they find they have in common. With a lot going on in Slade’s professional life too, both might be able to find that something more than they thought was possible…
I want to put my toes in the sand and howl at the moon. Give me a handsome, younger cardiac surgeon like Slade Henderson to snog, and I would woof, howl, purr, meow and make what ever animal noise he wants me to. Damn that man is sex on legs.
Blakely Foxx is nearing forty, newly divorced and struggling with her new bitchy boss. Slade is the perfect antidote to it all.
I should make a list of things I like about him because he does like a list, I know he prefers a To Do list, but that would just be a short list (slide it in Slade):
He’s funny
He’s romantic
He’s great at his job
He’s compassionate
He’s a loving son
He’s an amazing friend
He’s so sexy
He’s resourceful
He kisses like a dream
He makes a girl feel like she’s a goddess
I just totally fell in love with him.
Flirting With Forty is a fun, feel good read. Fist bump, older ladies because we are still sexy and we don’t need a Slade to tell us that; although that would be nice – roaaaaaarrrrrr.
K Bromberg delivers a new romcom which will not only charm us because Slade is a hero who will seduces us immediately but who will find a certain echo in us. Love is hiding everywhere no matter how old we are, no matter what body we have. We just need to open our eyes and take a leap of faith.
Blakely Foxx walks into her bar after a bad day at work, and she absolutely never expected to run into a man who would literally change her life. With her forties approaching and the trials of life having made their way into her life, she couldn’t imagine finding a new dynamism in her everyday life. Professionally, she’s on the verge of getting the promotion she’s been working for years. She has never spared her efforts and contrary to what Heather thinks, she is not outdated. Age is a factor she must take into account because at work her “boss” makes her feel that she is has-been and that she doesn’t understand new market demands. What she doesn’t understand is that Blake is an asset to the Glam Company and that she is looking for an enemy where there is none. So I liked the confrontation between the two women because it is two generations confronting each other but they won’t use the same weapons to fight. Age is therefore one of the driving elements of our plot because Blake doesn’t understand that a younger man can be interested in her. She lacks self-confidence and any excuse is good to take her distances and dismiss the obvious.
Her meeting with Slade will therefore inevitably change things because he will push her buttons. This napkin will contain things to achieve in her life and he will push her but in a beneficial and saving way. I loved the relationship that they will manage to develop because if at the beginning it is about a false relationship to confront Heather, it is obvious that chemistry is here. With him, she will dare to surpass herself and get out of her comfort zone. She will also fight to defend her ideas and the confidence that emanates from our hero will inevitably be poured out on our heroine. These five days of seminars in the wilderness will not only be here to strengthen the bonds between Blake and his colleagues but it will open her eyes on many aspects in her life. I liked the character of Blake because she is reliable to me and I can find myself in her with my uncertainties, my doubts and my fears. Through the pages, we will see her gain confidence and we hope that she will be strong enough to see this evidence reaching out to her. Her life spent with her ex, Paul, has left traces which, we hope, will not be indelible but the fight will be tough. The victory could be great if our heroine believes in her
Slade Henderson is our 31 year old hero. He has all the assets to charm us and to conquer us: he is charming but he doesn’t overuse it, he is generous and full of empathy, he has the gift of relaxing the atmosphere and opening up to other. He also knows how to identify people and this advantage will be crucial during this seminar because identifying her allies will be an asset for Blake. It will open up unexpected perspectives for her while her own life is at a standstill. Cardiac surgeon, he is waiting for a decision which could turn his life upside down but he will have no regrets because what he does, he does with empathy in mind. We will hold our breath at his side, hoping that this obstacle will resolve itself, but we know that basically his actions are justified. He’s really great and I loved the scenes where our two heroes talk heartily. He won’t hesitate to push her to give the best of herself. He’s never had the time to devote his energy to a worthy woman but one wonders if fate would not have put him in Blake’s path for a very specific reason. He is a man who deserves to be known and we hope that at the end of this special interlude, he will know how to give new meaning to his life.
In short, I had a great time reading Slade and Blake’s story that I loved. All the ingredients are there to make us have a great time in their company. The plot can only speak to us and the characters are all equally interesting. Flirting with 40 is K Bromberg’s new romantic comedy that needs to be devoured urgently.
