An all new flirty, lighthearted, standalone romance by New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg guaranteed to make you swoon. Blakely Foxx is having one of those years. Her divorce may have been finalized a few months ago, but her ex is already engaged to someone half her age. Her younger boss is determined to sabotage her chance at getting the promotion she rightly deserves. And to make … the promotion she rightly deserves. And to make matters worse, she’s closing in on the big 4-0. There isn’t enough wine or ice cream in the world to convince her things will turn around.
When Blakely meets Slade Henderson, she’s left wondering why an early-thirties, hotter than hell, cardiothoracic surgeon would take an interest in her.
She’s been warned that he’ll break her heart, but she’s willing to take the chance. Not only is he helping her get that promotion, but in the process, he’s encouraging her to find the parts of herself she’s lost over the past few years.
Slade shows her that good guys really do exist, but who knew the hardest part about turning forty would be realizing the man you thought was a rebound, is actually your happily ever after?

**NEW RELEASE**
What happens when a random guy walks up and pretends to be your hot-as-hell boyfriend to save you from your gloating ex? You go and fall for him . . .
This was just the book I needed to bring some laughs and cheer into my life. And with characters closer to my age?! Perfect. Age gap romance with an older woman and honest laughs and feel good moments is just what I needed at this time. And K Bromberg brought it in this stand alone romance!
Blakely is pushing 40, has recently divorced from her husband, who is with someone way younger and she is at a job that she loves, waiting to be promoted. The only thing in her way is a boss that is cruel to her and Blakely’s own mind. Enter Slade. A Hot AF doctor that is on (forced) sabbatical. He seems like he was just placed before her at the perfect time. Will Blakely realize her luck and just say yes? Or will she continue to get in her own way?
I absolutely adored this book and the characters. The banter between Slade and Blakely is perfection. They just work. Slade is literally a knight in shining armor and helping Blakely see who she really is. He may be younger, but he’s helping her grow and realize her worth. I was swooning and laughing and enjoying each minute. The times at the retreat you could feel the relationship growing for both of them and it was just natural.
For a lighter book with two strong and likable characters, Flirting with 40 is the book you need to read. Super cute. A lot of fun. And supporting characters that help the story flow. 4.5 stars
“I want to listen to how my body feels. How my heart is racing. How my head is swimming. How that ache in me that he created burns. And how I want….just simply want for the first time in what feels like forever.”
Who knew K. Bromberg had this type of rom-com gold just waiting to come out of her fingertips? Man oh man, Flirting with 40 was just the book I needed.
I adored Blakely. Yes she had been burned but she was full of class and grace. The way she took the hits that came her way with her head held high only made me root for her even more. Especially when she put the oh so handsome stranger in his place, or tried to anyway. Too bad Slade didn’t get the memo. WHEW! That man is what book boyfriend dreams are made of. Patient and kind. Smart and generous. He was more than enamored with Blakely and thankfully fate kept throwing them together.
I loved how Slade pushed Blakely. To go after what she wanted but also to be who she wanted. To not let anything stop her from having what she wanted. From being satisfied. But I have to say that my absolute favorite thing about Slade was the way he pushed Blakely to see herself through his eyes. Can you say swoon? I can…allllllllll the swoon!
Blakely and Slade’s whirlwind romance had me hanging on every word. Fingers crossed that K. Bromberg keeps the rom-coms coming because Flirting With 40 is everything I love in a book. Laughter and heat. A touch of drama and self discovery. And so much love you can feel it flowing out of the pages.
Flirting with 40 is a new standalone romance by the talented K. Bromberg. This is an age gap romance between two people who are at a place in their lives where a relationship isn’t something they are looking for, but fate has other plans. I have read a lot of great books this year, and Flirting with 40 is at the top of the list. I have read a lot of Kristy’s books and this might be my all-time favorite! Slade and Blakely’s story just got me right in the heart! Slade is swoonworthy, sexy and everything a book boyfriend should be! A chance meeting between two strangers in a bar leads to flirting, laughs and fun. But ends with Blakely walking away. Blakely is almost forty and trying to get a big promotion at work. She’s having to deal with a younger boss who seems to have it out for her. Slade loves his job but is waiting to hear about possible changes. He’s not happy that Blakely just walked away. He can’t stop thinking about her and that isn’t something he’s used to. But when he sees her on the street, fate seems to be on his side. Again. He pretends to be her new boyfriend and convinces her to let him go on her company retreat with her. He wants to help her get the promotion, but more than that, he wants to help her find herself again. She’s divorced and seems to have lost who she was. He has plans to make her remember and learn to fight for herself again. Blakely can’t believe a younger and extremely handsome stranger wants to be with her. But she’s going to just go with it. She needs to be more spontaneous and maybe Slade is the perfect rebound. Being with Slade brings out her confidence, her laugh, her carefree attitude. But it also makes her see things about herself that she needs to change. She stops forgetting that he’s younger. She stops thinking to much. She starts to remember to actually have fun! But what happens after their pretend time is over? Will they admit that they weren’t really pretending before it’s too late? Oh man! This story! I loved it so much! There was just something about Slade and his easy going style that got to me. He’s younger than her, but he’s in his thirties so it isn’t taboo. He also has a career that he loves and he’s good at. He doesn’t care about the age difference, he just wants to be with her. Blakely is hung up on the age difference, but she doesn’t let it stop her. She’s trying to find herself and that was so refreshing! She’s already gorgeous, smart and confident, she just needed to remember how to use it. I love an age gap story and really love when the woman is older! Overall, I loved every word. I laughed, cried more than once and got hot and bothered.
P.S.: I love that Slade makes lists!
This was a really fun and sweet book. I liked that there was no over the top drama or angst, it was light and made it extremely enjoyable to read. Gotta love a man that is one heck of a confidence booster. He was so supportive of Blakely and wanted her to break out of shell and live her best life post divorce. I thought those two made a great couple and I loved the age gap. It was awesome reading about a woman who is just a titch younger than me!
If you’re looking for something fun and flirty that’s going to put a little zing in your step, bring out your sassy side and make you smile big time then Flirting with 40 is the perfect read for you. It’s light and romantic and gives you all the toe tingles and feels you want in a well written rom-com. We find Blakely Foxx in a bar wondering about life, her divorce, and all the crap that goes with it. Enter Slade Henderson everything you could want in a man and then some. Could he be too good to be true? I fell for him and all his sexiness immediately so I didn’t care if he was. A little flirting takes place and Blakley’s confidence is boosted until it isn’t. Why would a 31 year old sexy as sin guy be flirting with a 39 year old divorcee when there are much younger women trying to get his attention? Well as we are about to find out Blakely Foxx can hold her own with the best of them and give as good as she gets and that includes putting her boss (Horrible Heather, but I kinda liked her) in her place and getting down and dirty with Slade. After Slade rescues Blakely from an awkward situation with her ex and his new fiancee (boo hiss). Slade says he will accompany her on the upcoming company retreat as her fake boyfriend to show her colleagues that just because she’s pushing 40 she’s still got it and this is when the fun and games really begin. There are some laugh out loud moments, some sizzling between the sheets moments but most of all there are moments that make you think why shouldn’t Blakely have it all, and eventually she does. It’s a really enjoyable read and if you take anything away from Blakely and Slade’s romantic romp it should be that every day should a be black lacy boy shorts kinda day and age is just a number.
Ok, I knew within a few minutes of starting this book that I was going to LOVE IT! And love it I did. I couldn’t read this book fast enough. It was swoony, sweet, fantastic, and had ALL. THE. FEELS. Blakely is having a rough few months. She is having a bad day when Slade meets her acquaintance. While they got off to a good, albeit rocky start, he’s in a place in his life where he is able to do Blakely a solid. While things are up in the air in his life, he is able to help a girl out! And boyyyyyyyyyyyyy does he! Slade is an all-around great guy and I found myself smiling throughout this read. The chemistry between Slade and Blakely is off the charts and they have a unique setting to get to know each other. And Slade was the perfect compliment to Blakely. I enjoyed how he lifted her up and gave her what she needed. This book was just what I needed right now, too. It was lighthearted, fun and I devoured it. I would have read it in one setting had I not started reading later at night. I didn’t want to put it down. I can’t recommend this book enough. PLEASE! Grab your copy now.
This was a fun, lighthearted read. I related to Blakely as I recently turned 40 myself, except I’ve yet to meet my Slade lol. Flirting With 40 was fun and flirty and I loved seeing Slade remind Blakely she’s a confident, successful woman and she’s capable of anything.
Flirting with 40 is a super cute and easy to read age gap romance filled with heart, many many swoons and dreamy sigh worthy banter. I really enjoyed this one. With its mix of great characters, fake dating hijinks and close proximity, I couldn’t put it down.
Blakely is divorced, almost 40 and her boss is out to get her. One night as she drowns her sorrows in a too trendy bar, she meets the crazy sexy and young doctor Slade Henderson. Their chemistry is red hot from the start.
With her company retreat looming, Slade and Blakely come up with a plan to pretend to be a couple in order to win over her co-workers, her boss and to ensure she gets the promotions she was working so hard for.
Slade may be my favorite book boyfriend this year. My goodness! It doesn’t get swoonier than the hot doc. I loved him so much. His heart and the way he champions and builds Blakely up will have you weak in knees in love. Even when his professional career is hanging in the balance his positivity never waned. He was legitimately a great guy.
As for Blakely, while I did like her, I do think she was a little too hung up on whatever shortcomings she thought she had. Yes, she’s older, a divorceé and different from her co-workers…I wished she would have just owned it. I wanted more awesome, confident Blakely. Her insecurities got to a point where I couldn’t root for her self sabotage. When we did get that carefree confident woman, she was a star.
This was such a fun read from K. Bromberg. I can pretty much guarantee you’ll walk away with hearts in your eyes after reading.
Let’s start by saying that this book had already hooked me by the cover reveal!
I mean… Look at this cover? I wanna lick it! Better yet when the cover model is also Brazilian like me, so I have no other choice but to swoon over our men.
Just. Like. That. (Sorry, not sorry)
With that out of the way, I have to say that K Bromberg delivered another great story with the right dose of hot and sweet, balanced with an insecure woman trying to be a better version of herself, and a really perfect man capable of empower any woman.
I’ll be honest by saying that I couldn’t stop reading this book… I’ve started it before bed, with the intention of only read the first couple of chapters… Then 4:00am and 40% of the book later, I stopped to sleep a few hours, and grab it back as soon as I my eyes open!
I’m obsessed with Slade! This 31 yrs old cardiac resident could hold my heart for life and I would be totally ok with that.
He’s so perfect that even Blakely thinks that he’s too good to be true, and in fact, I hate that he’s a fictional character, because he’s a real man from inside out.
Everything begins and ends with the heart
39 yrs old Blakely, is going through a lot of changes and intern crises in her life, after a 17yrs marriage ends, and is having a hard time to get her mind away from failing.
She got really burned by her excuse of an ex, and have zero self esteem!
And I really mean none-zero-nada-even less!
Her insecurities started to annoy me at the point of drop my rating.
That fact bothered me a lot after the middle of the book, but then I realized that this was the perfect way to show how it was possible for her to be a better version of herself.
How not to be so stiff and put together in front of others, but broken inside.
How this was the perfect way to show how good Slade’s influence on her was.
How she had learned to grown, to evolve, and obviously, to love and be happy again.
“Let it go. Take the ride. Put your toes in the sand. Howl at the moon. Do whatever it is you want to do so long as it’s in pursuit of finding you again.”
This book is about a second chance.
But not a second chance romance…
A second chance at being happy, at find the right person even when you think that this isn’t for you, or that your insecurities are screaming that you’re not enough or not worth it.
She is.
You are.
I am.
And for that, I’m giving my full stars.
5 Million ‘Howl At The Moon’ Stars
MIND BLOWINGLY AMAZING! Flirting With 40 is truly the best of the BEST; a happy feeling, heart warming, sexy, funny and smart Rom-Com, so stocked full of emotional richness and depth that I know will forever stay in my mind and soul! Yes, it’s that BRILLIANT! Slade and Blakely completely own my heart, in this EPIC love story, that is now my All Time Favorite Romantic Comedy. Superb!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
I fell in love with Slade, I need one in my life. This book gave me all the feelings. Age gap romance done perfectly for me. Blakely is a woman I can relate to, she has her own struggles, and the way Slade helps her is the best way possible. Slade is not free of his own demons, but definitely they both complement each other. This book is more than a romantic age gap story, it will have you thinking about your own struggles, you will laugh and your heart will be squeezed in more way than one. A brilliant story one I’m sure you’ll enjoy immensely, the audiobook is a fantastic way to experience this book as well, with great narrators. A 5 star!
It was a perfect read. It was both sweet and sexy. I loved the two main characters. I definitely recommend this book, and this author.
It’s no lie, I have loved all of K. Bromberg’s books and let me just say Flirting with 40 may just be my favorite right now. IMHO I think it is what every reader needs in this crazy year of 2020. It’s a lighter read, without alot of angst. It’s packed with witty banter, humor and a few nice and steamy moments.
This is the story of Slade and Blakely. They are both at a crossroads in there careers and not looking for a relationship. Especially newly divorced Blakely. They meet by chance at a bar and there is an instant attraction but Blakely is pretty hung up on the age difference as she is flirting with forty and is closer to thirty and she has a lot of insecurities. Neither can stop thinking of each other and Slade talks her into doing the fake relationship thing and take him on her 5 day work retreat in the mountains.
Slade, oh my is he swoony! He just doesn’t get Blakely’s insecurities and fights for her to see what he sees. He is attracted to who is sees, the Blakely who can be feisty and howl at the moon.
“Do you want to know what I see when I look at you? That bathing suit you argued over putting on yesterday because you thought you were fat or looked bad or whatever the hell reason you had? You put it on and looked in the mirror and cringed. You want to know what I saw? I saw your curves. The ones I want to map one by one with my hands. They’re sexy and beautiful and—” “I don’t see the lines around your eyes that you crack jokes about. I see evidence of laughing and living, and damn it, I want to know the story behind each and every one of them . You’re so damn hung up on your age, Blakely, but when I look at you? I just see you.”
Gah!! I just really enjoyed their story and their super sweet and romantic HEA!
It has been a hot minute since I’ve read a book by Kristy Bromberg, and I could not have found a more enjoyable way to dive back in than FLIRTING WITH 40. I’m not going to lie, this book is pure unadulterated pleasure, and I enjoyed every single page.
As a woman of a certain age, I identified with Blakely. Not only did her husband leave her for a younger woman, Blakely has had a hard time remembering that she is all of that and a bag of chips. For real, she’s smart, savvy, beautiful, funny, and, yeah, she’s almost reached the Big 4-o, but with maturity and her experience, she has seriously got so much to offer.
It takes a chance encounter in a bar with a very attractive and attentive man to kick off her journey back to herself, and what a way to go. Slade is my absolute favorite new book boyfriend. With plenty on his own plate, he jumps in to help Blakely see herself the way that he sees her, and regain the confidence to go for the things that she both wants and deserves in her life.
Kristy had me from the first page with this book, earning it a spot among my top favorite reads of this year. If a book grabs me by the heartstrings and won’t let go, while still managing to be sassy and sexy, too, it’s a keeper. FLIRTING WITH 40 is 4.5 stars of delightfulness, and a definite must-read for fans of contemporary romance with some angst thrown in. I could read books like this all day long, and if Kristy’s writing them, I’m all in. Make a place on your TBR for this one, and enjoy.
This book makes me want to date someone younger than me! I adored these two, this is one of my favorite reads from Miss Bromberg and 2020, thank you for giving us something different!
ONE GREAT BOOK FROM ONE GREAT AUTHOR! What an amazing story Ms Bromberg can tell and this one is no different! Great story… great chemistry between Blakely and Slade… Slade is so generous and compassionate… Makes me turning 50 hopeful.. I would read the dictionary if she was the author!
I was given this book by the author in return for an honest review
Flirting with 40 is the most sweetest romantic book ever!! I Seriously loved every single page of this book and devoured it in one sitting.
If you are looking for something easy and quick with lots of fun then this book is definitely for you.
Slade and Blakely met one night at a bar and really hit it off, in this book we follow them on a trip to the mountains where they really got to know each other and where Slade really helped Blakely discover who she is as a person. Unfortunately that trip had to end and they had to go back to the real world.
These two had so much fun together, so much respect and love for the other. They really did bring the best out on each other and make each other so happy. But, Can this pair admit how they feel about one another? Can they make things work out in the real world?
Love this book and loved the ending, it just fit perfectly and omg I loved epilogue 2
Thanks for the chance to read this book.
Cute. Delightful. Funny. FLIRTING WITH 40 was the book I didn’t even know that I need it. I loved it so much!
Blakely had a #girlpower hiding inside her ready to be free but her insecurities, specially about her age, were holding her back. And, with baby steps, when she let it all out it was so beautiful and satisfying. It felt like she was my bestie and I was soooo rooting for her.
Slade just became my FAVORITE book boyfriend of 2020. The only sad part is he is not real. I really wish he was. I want someone like him in my life, k. Bromberg! Make him real!
I know I’m supposed to use this space to write a review with my opinion about this book. But I don’t think I have enough words to express how much I love it. This book was beyond beautiful, magical, hopeful and romantic.
So I better just tell you that I read this book in one sitting. I stayed up till 3 am even though I had to wake up early to work. It became my favorite even before I finish reading it. And when I actually got to the last page I felt sooooo in love with this beautiful story that I wanted to go back to page one and start it all over again. I highly recommend it!
I truly feel that Flirting with 40 is K. Bromberg’s BEST work to date! This book has put a smile on my face which is just what I needed after such a crazy year! Slade and Blakely’s age gap/fake romance kept me intrigued from the first page and I just could not put this book down. A woman who needs to find her voice and a man who knows what he wants? Yes, PLEASE! Flirting with 40 is a fun, sexy and swoon worthy read and will make your heart happy!
