An all new flirty, lighthearted, standalone romance by New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg guaranteed to make you swoon. Blakely Foxx is having one of those years. Her divorce may have been finalized a few months ago, but her ex is already engaged to someone half her age. Her younger boss is determined to sabotage her chance at getting the promotion she rightly deserves. And to make … the promotion she rightly deserves. And to make matters worse, she’s closing in on the big 4-0. There isn’t enough wine or ice cream in the world to convince her things will turn around.
When Blakely meets Slade Henderson, she’s left wondering why an early-thirties, hotter than hell, cardiothoracic surgeon would take an interest in her.
She’s been warned that he’ll break her heart, but she’s willing to take the chance. Not only is he helping her get that promotion, but in the process, he’s encouraging her to find the parts of herself she’s lost over the past few years.
Slade shows her that good guys really do exist, but who knew the hardest part about turning forty would be realizing the man you thought was a rebound, is actually your happily ever after?

Honestly one of my favorite books this year. K. Bromberg delivered Flirting with 40! This sexy, funny, flirty book I was unable to put down! I fell in love with Slade & Blakely, their chemistry is off the chart hot! Once I started I was completely able to escape the day to day and it was pure perfection! Just what the Covid Dr. ordered. One-Click y’all!
This book was such a breath of fresh air and I didn’t realize how much I needed something like that at this moment. It was light, sweet and kind of cheesy at times but I had a huge grin on my face the whole time I was reading. So if you are looking for something less angsty and drama-free, this would be perfect.
I have to say I loved Blakely. I felt strangely related to her character and all the insecurities she had. I’m flirting with 40 myself, so her struggles in some aspects of her life hit way too close to home. Some of her thoughts were like taken right out of my head and it was so reassuring to see them on paper and realize I’m not alone out there.
And about Slade. Oh my Where do I even start. If there is one Bromberg hero I fell head over heels in love with right from the start, it was definitely Slade. He was so amazing with the way he treated Blakely and the reassurance he constantly gave her, my smiled widened to a huge grin every time he made an appearance. He was just dreamy and I wish more men like him existed out there. My heart melted a time or a hundred in this book with some of his actions. He may have turned into one of my fav Bromberg men. I don’t exaggerate at all. He was that perfect.
Their sexy and witty banter was so hilarious. It really put a constant smile on my face that was present the whole time I was reading.
The setting was also so beautiful and I truly enjoyed all the sceneries and all the picturesque details.
Such a refreshing, cute, light and fluffy story. Maybe not what I typically expect from Kristy Bromberg but I think it was exactly what the doctor ordered. Pun intended. This sexy, easygoing, funny doctor with a golden heart would steal yours and would leave a permanent mark there. Because everything indeed starts with the heart. And mine fell head over heels in love with this gorgeous heart surgeon, his amazing pretend girlfriend and their heartwarming story.
Do not hesitate. Say YES to this story. Cause “The answer is yes. It’s always yes.”
Blakely is close to the big 4-0 and well her life isn’t what she planned to be. Divorced, an ex husband who’s on his way to wed a younger woman, a boss who seemed to have something against her, self confidence issues, until she met someone who will definitely turn her world upside down and make her see things in a new perspective.
Slade is what Blakely needed without knowing it. That man… swoon, swoon, swoon!
A man full of surprises, who keeps her on her toes and knows how to challenge her with a demanding job, saving lives, sensitive and funny, all wrapped in a sexy package. Just book boyfriend material!
It was refreshing, with a flirting and charming banter. Blakely and Slade have such an incredible and natural chemistry. I was rooting for these two for sure. I appreciated reading about a woman who is trying to find herself back and about the man who’s helping her in every step of the way.
She isn’t like a damsel in distress but needed a little push to get back on track.
Slade has a great way to push her and once again, for two people who haven’t known for a long time, it was natural. These two are so obvious. Generous, kind, sexy, patient and always seeing the bright side of things.
I loved how he saw Blakely, the look in his eyes was just something else.
She is this tornado he hasn’t seen coming into his life but it just felt just so right!
While Blakely is going to find her confidence back, it works both ways. They haven’t imagined finding that something more, it was such a delight to watch the main characters falling in love, making me laugh and smile so hard I lost count. And most all of love, so swoony!
They went to the flow. There was magic in the air, filled with so many beautiful moments, laughter and so much love. A feel good book I’m very fond of.
Flirting with forty never sounded so good…but most of all, the biggest of all swoons with his story! I heart this so freaking much!
If you are looking for a fun, sweet, and cute read… THIS ONE is it!! Flirting with 40 was everything, I was smiling and swooning like crazy. Blakely was near her 40s and lost, after her husband left her for someone younger she didn’t know what to do next. That’s when she meets Slade, Slade was younger than her but he pushed her like she needed.
Slade was everything, I loved how much he made Blakely enjoy her life and accept that she was capable of anything. Slade and Blakely were the cutest, I love how he didn’t care about age, he cared for her and nothing else mattered. This is a must read!
What happens when a random guy walks up and pretends to be your hot-as-hell boyfriend to save you from your gloating ex? You go and fall for him . . .
5+ stars!
When I read the blurb for Flirting with 40 I knew I immediately needed to read it. K. Bromberg never disappoints with her writing. I knew I would get some humor and heat but wow I didn’t anticipate the level of emotion, heart and feels this one gave me. Don’t get me wrong it is light, funny, flirty and sexy but it is so much more than that too. I was blown away. I devoured this in one sitting and would but this at the top of my favourite reads of 2020.
Blakely is a beautiful, smart divorcée. She is trying to get a promotion at work and is dealing with a younger boss that seems to have it out for her. Blakely has some self confidence issues given her age (almost 40) she seems to have lost her way and her confidence in herself since the end of her marriage.
Slade is a younger man. 31 years old. He is a cardiac surgeon on somewhat of a sabbatical. Slade was just what Blakely needed at the right time in her life. I loved his confidence and take charge attitude. He is gorgeous and full of charm.
Slade and Blakely meet in a bar and sparks were evident immediately. I loved their banter with each other and I was instantly enamoured with their connection and couldn’t wait to see how their story would develop.
After a bout of cold feet and a not so nice comment from another woman at the bar Blakely ends up leaving a fake number and Slade is not happy. He wants to get to know her so when he runs into her again he pretends to be her boyfriend in front of her ex and his new girlfriend this is the perfect opportunity to win her over. He later convinces her to bring him along to a work retreat and have him pose as her fake boyfriend. Although the plan was for him to be her fake boyfriend it never felt like that from the start. Slade was the most perfect man. He has so much passion for Blakely and wants to see her gain her confidence back and go after the things she wants in life. I loved his encouragement towards her.
”Do you want to know what I see when I look at you? That bathing suit you argued over putting on yesterday because you thought you were fat or looked bad or whatever the hell reason you had? You put it on and looked in the mirror and cringed. You want to know what I saw? I saw your curves. The ones I want to map one by one with my hands. They’re sexy and beautiful and I don’t see the lines around your eyes that you crack jokes about. I see evidence of laughing and living, and damn it, I want to know the story behind each and every one of them. You’re so damn hung up on your age, Blakely, but when I look at you? I just see you.”
TOTAL SWOON!
There were some terrific side characters in this story but the one I adored most was Blakely’s bestie Kelsie. She was such a pivotal character. She is encouraging and gave the best advice to Blakely at the exact moments she needed it.
This book checks ALL the boxes and is a must read for all romance readers out there. I guarantee if you pick this up you will not be disappointed nor be able to put it down from beginning to end.
*ARC received from Valentine PR in exchange of an honest review.
One of the things that’s so great about Kristy as an author is her versatility. She can give you a hot, alpha male series (Driven); or a loving story filled with compassion, pain and loss (Slow Burn). She digs even deeper in the recesses of her mind and she pulls out that rocker dude (Sweet Ache) but she doesn’t stop there. I mean what’s not to love about a sports guy (The Player). And to continue her skills at switching it up her repertoire even includes some firemen (Combust) and cops (Cuffed). And then she gives us this . . .
Flirty with 40! I can remember those days. Eeek, did I just tell my age. Older woman. Younger Man. The things that dreams are made of.
Blakely approaching 40. Recently divorced. Lacking confidence.
Slade younger than 40. Recently suspended. Exuding in confidence.
The phase opposites attract fit right in with this couple. And watching Slade pursue and Blakely retreat is nothing but pure fun. But getting caught is even more fun.
I love everything Kristy writes because her stories always feel like home. Flirting with 30 is no different. I love the light-heartedness. The lively fun factor. The uplifting message. And well it is Kristy so we can’t leave out the sexiness.
Once again, Kristy has given a story that deserves all the 5 stars I am giving it.
Flirting With 40 is a heartwarming story of a woman’s journey to find herself again after losing herself to the man she pledged her life to. Dealing with the betrayal has not been easy for Blakely, especially when she has ‘Horrid Heather’ to contend with at work!
But a chance encounter with Slade has her questioning her confidence and self worth. And when fate hands her an opportunity on a platter, she can’t think of a valid reason to turn it down.
With the blatant chemistry off the charts, is this the perfect rebound opportunity for Blakely to regain that confidence, or will it turn to more?
Slade is literally THE PERFECT GUY. Everything about him screams too good to be true, but is he as perfect as he seems?
I really loved reading Flirting with 40, the connection between Slade & Blakely even on that first meeting you could see that it wasn’t forced, the chat was effortless.
Throughout the book you could feel their connection getting stronger. The banter between Slade and Blakely was hilarious you could tell there was a genuine friendship building and the trust between them was evident to see, it was nice to feel that bond from both of them as they started opening up and telling each other bits of their lives.
It was so nice to read a book that’s brought some light relief especially with how things have been this year, I really enjoyed it xx
This book took me by surprise, I thought it’s going to be just a sweet steamy read but it’s totally not and I ended devoured it in just one sitting.
This one has a lot of depth, a journey to find yourself after divorce, to get back that confidence inside yourself, just how to enjoy life, lots of ups and downs, lots of drama and troubles, it’s like watching those rom-com movies, lots of laughter and there’s one sexy hot doctor that guaranteed will sweep you off your feet with all those charms and sexiness.
Great characters that got me rooting for their happiness from the first chapter, easy-to-read romance story that keeps me turning page after page, some steaminess here and there, and plenty things that put big smile on my face, yup this book become a perfect romance read for me and definitely a MUST-READ for romance readers.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved Blakely and Slade. Slade is great book boyfriend material. He’s going to make you swoon. My favorite thing about this book is how Slade has Blakely see herself. She also feels beautiful and trust me that is a beautiful things. Blakely is finding herself again with inching closer to 40 and newly divorced she has lost her way a tad. This is empowering for Blakely. Another favorite of the book. It’s a book you can easily get lost in. The characters are going to suck you right into the book. I would definitely recommend this book.
This book hit close to home on so many unexpected levels.
For one, this book is a fantastic reverse age gap romance.
For two, Blakely is a hot mess. She is a great representation of every late thirties woman I’ve ever met and then some.
For three, Slade is utter perfection. He is so bloody perfect it hurts. Beautiful on the outside and on the inside. He is the dream book boyfriend.
For four, their fake relationship was a joke from the word go because the spark between them could light a thousand campfires.
Watching them fall in love was a beautiful and enlightening experience and I gobbled up all the words because I needed to see them get their happily ever after, as ASAP as possible. It did not disappoint. Do yourself a favor and TBR this fantastic Five Star read.
P.S. While reading this book I was able to relate to Blakely in an unexpected and surprising way. When you’ve dedicated your life to being the best you can be in your chosen field there comes a time when you are challenged by someone who is threatened by your poise and experience. Seeing Blakely struggle with age discrimination by her younger boss hit close to home and spoke to me.

YESSS!! I am all about it! Go read and fall in love book lovers!
As an older woman in her 40s myself, the whole younger man story is one that I definitely relate to, and so I was very excited to see this one being written by one of my favorite authors. While Bromberg is probably known best for her really angsty dramatic romances, she is definitely great at a sweet, light romantic comedy like this as well. I sped through this one, loving every bit of it!
Even though I’m actually what you’d call “flirting with 50”, I could totally feel all the different things that Blakely was going through. There is so much dealing with those who are younger, coming into any career field and never knowing if they’re going to be someone you can work with, or if they will be someone who might steal your job away. I try to take on the role of a partner, teammate, as often as possible. I mean there were times when I was still a teacher and a brand new one came in and I was just wowed by how awesome they were, and I wished I had been that good when I started, sometimes even wished I was that good at the time!
It is totally understandable why Blakely had a bit of issue believing that Slade could actually be interested in her. Especially with all the usual naysayers in her life doing their best to break her down, and discourage her in every way. But I like how he worked to bring her out of it. He knew all the ways to push her, and even though he was dealing with his own issues, he was there for her.
His story was a very good one, one that had me really feeling for him and hoping that he’d get his evidence he needed sooner rather than later.
Now the big misunderstanding towards the end was a little bit close to that thing that I often mention bugging me how someone won’t listen when they decide something is wrong. But I did like how this fake relationship turned real, and that there didn’t necessarily have to be the big revelation of it as fake as the final disaster or drama.
Another great read from Bromberg!
When I first read the blurb for this book I was so excited. Flirting with 40 did not disappoint, I was hooked from page one. K. Bromberg is one of favorite authors, I will read anything she writes.
Blakey is going through a tough time, she is newly divorced and almost 40. She isn’t happy with things at work and is really down on herself. She wasn’t expecting to meet someone while she drowning her sorrows. Slade is a nice good looking younger man. She can’t understand why he want anything to do with her.
Slade is in the middle of his residency and wasn’t looking for anyone. There’s this pull he has towards Blakely. He can’t seem to stop thinking about her.
I loved this book so much. You will fall in love with Slade. This a must read!
I AM SO IN LOVE! Blakely and Slade’s story was amazing! I love that this story was written about characters above the age of 30 (barely, but still)! I love everything about this book! Sweet, sexy, and funny! FIVE HUGE STARS!!
Is life over if you’re flirting with forty and divorced. NO! Is the answer in this fun, romantic, and super sexy story! If you’re looking for proof that love can happen anytime, read this! You’ll have plenty of laughs and swoons along the way.
What happens when a random guy walks up and pretends to be your hot-as-hell boyfriend to save you from your gloating ex? You go and fall for him . . .
4.5 stars
This new release is one relatable, fun, and engaging storyline that will seduce any reader. Blakely, like many women who have unfortunately dealt with a major life change, is trying to pick up the pieces and get a handle on who she is after her husband left her for a younger woman. She finds herself in a bar after having a cruddy day because of her boss. Color her surprised when a good looking, younger man, Slade, begins to chat with her. Not able to believe that the hot man is truly interested, she quickly leaves relegating the chance encounter to being some kind of fluke. However, when another chance encounter at the perfect time, has Slade showing up and rescuing Blakely from a situation, it appears that they need to explore the possibilities that exist between them. The chemistry between Blakely and Slade is sizzling. The author did a superb job relaying Blakely’s challenges and how she managed to become the woman she was meant to be. Slade is the complete package and the kind of man that women want. He is the supporter, cheerleader and one sexy AF male. I volunteered to read a copy of this book.
