I loved Slade. From the very first moment he appeared on page, I was hooked by his ever-present smile, his positive attitude, and his empowering spirit that lifted everyone around him (well, except Blakely’s ex). Blakely is nearing forty and recently divorced. With her confidence shaken, she can’t understand why a younger, super-attractive guy is interested in making conversation with her at the bar. After that night and a second chance encounter, they spend more time together and find their connection is effortless and far more than either bargained for.
Blakely struggled to regain her self-confidence in the story. At times, she frustrated me with her repeated insecurities, but I understood the damage her ex left in his wake took time to heal. Plus, she’s dealing with a boss who’s threatening her chances at a promotion. Then with the eight years between her and Slade (which I didn’t think was that much at all), she battled with believing there was a solid chance at their relationship…even though the chemistry between these two sparked on every page. Ultimately, I was sucked in with their banter and quick comebacks, their lists, and all those little special romantic moments in between.
The story is relatively light and super sexy while still packing a ton of emotion with Slade’s secondary storyline. This is a beautifully written story that flowed so smoothly, I didn’t even realize how quickly it ended.
Since K. Bromberg talked about writing this story months ago I was so excited! It sounded like such a fun book to read and Kristy didn’t disappoint.
Flirting with 40 is about Blakely Foxx. She is freshly divorced and her ex-husband is already engaged to a woman who is a way younger than her. Her big 40 is right around the corner and her younger boss is trying everything to sabotage her chance at getting the promotion she worked for.
One night she meets the sexy and younger Slade Henderson who is a cardiothoracic surgeon. She can’t believe that he shows interest in her. A short time later she sees him again while running into her ex-husband and Slade pretends to be her boyfriend. And as Blakely’s boyfriend he is going with her to her work retreat and is helping her to get her promotion. But is this really all he is helping her with?
Flirting with 40 is such a sweet and wonderful story to read! I smiled so much while reading this book! I absolutely fell in love with Slade and I am sure everyone who will read this book will have the same feeling. Definitely a must read!
Holy swoon! Flirting with 40 is everything I needed! With everything going on in the world right now; I wasn’t in the mood for an extremely serious book, so this book was absolutely perfect. It was light, it was funny and Slade is so swoon worthy! The chemistry between Blakey and Slade was amazing. I was laughing out loud at times and loving everything. These two stole my hearts.
“The heart is where everything begins and ends”
BLADE FOR THE WIN!!
Flirting With 40 was exactly what I needed. It was romantic, funny and addictive!
KB wrote a fantastic age gap story and portrayed two characters that were so relatable and endearing.
Slade is just such a perfect guy, friend and son- he is really perfect in every way!! I loved him from the very first page. I love how passionate he is about his job and how he lifts people spirits!!
Blakely is just out from a messy divorce and is dealing with challenges professionally so when Slade entered her life … she could not resist him… who could though?
The do list is the epitome of the story and will they complete it?
Highly recommend this book that will put a smile on your face guaranteed!
“Feeling is something that is fed by insecurities, knowing is something that is backed by facts.”
An inspiring story of new beginnings self discovery (with a little help). Blakely newly divorced and facing ageism challenges in her job she is becoming bitter of her circumstances, that is until she goes to a bar.
Slade, a handsome stranger that has decided that Blakely is the one for him, now if he could convince her to howl at the moon with him.
A story of finding oneself, of seeing below the years of insecurities and seeing what others see and embracing it. Slade and Blakely are two amazing characters fun, funny and passionate. His support makes him the best type of man for her after she was buried under her now ex’s expectations.
I love how he challenged her how she actually did find herself howling at the moon, an embracing the possibilities that lay ahead. A beautiful and inspiring tale!
Oh I so needed Kristy’s brilliant writing. She has delivered a light hearted, entertaining. steamy story that is just what the doctor ordered.
Being in that age bracket I completely empathized with Blakely with her age hang-ups and fears. We all fear something and after her husband left her for a younger version of herself I’m not surprised she is stressing over this.
The chemistry between Slade and Blakely is off the charts hot and completely instant, even when they don’t want to admit their feelings straight away. They are so perfect together and I loved how well Slade knew Blakely and understood her and what she needed/wanted. Prepare for lots of Swooning.
Well done K Bromberg on another fabulous read.
Flirting With 40 was a delight to read. As soon I started this book I felt a connection to the characters and I didn’t want to stop reading. This book is lighter than what I normally expect from this author, but it’s exactly what I needed!
Blakely and Slade had an instant connection-one neither of them was looking for. I think for me that’s part of why they worked so well. Nothing about them felt forced in any way. They were hot and sexy together, balanced with the right amount of sweet.
I love how Slade broke through Blakely’s insecurities. I loved how he championed her. Are you sensing a theme? I LOVED Slade. He was sexy and sweet, smart and fun. He was an awesome book boyfriend. While I don’t share all of Blakely’s insecurities, I do understand exactly where she’s coming from. I loved watching her rediscover herself and was cheering her on the entire time.
This book flowed so well for me. I felt like I was right there with them throughout the whole story. I think this book had an important message, too, about how age really is just a number. I hope people can take that away from this book.
This book is one I’ll go back and read again and again. I felt connected to these characters and just didn’t want it to end. I enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it.
Flirty and fisty and it’s a blessing to be…almost forty.
In this latest story from Ms. Bromberg she’s gifted us with the perfect dream guy and he’s definitely in a league of his own. The heroine, Blakely Foxx is pretty special in her own right. She’s smart and beautiful and got a lot going for her…unfortunately for her she doesn’t see that in herself. She’s been devastated by a cheating husband and a recent divorce which allowed her ex to move on to a younger version of herself. On top of that she has a new and younger boss who is making no bones about the fact she’d like her gone. All of this has her thinking she’s lost her mojo. So after a especially rough day she finds herself at a local hot spot bar hoping to find out what she’s missing in the younger crowd. Soon the Hero of the story sits down at the bar beside her and try’s to strike up a conversation. She can’t believe he’s actually talking to her. So after ignoring him for a bit she finally responds with a snarky remark and well, the rest, as they say, is history. His name is Slade Henderson and I promise he’s going to make you swoon. You’ll have to pick up the book and find out the rest for yourself but I can tell you that you will completely enjoy this lighthearted, fun, spunky and fantastic addition to Ms. Bromberg’s catalogue of books. I couldn’t put it down. I was laughing and rooting on this couple every step of the way.
My first book by K. Bromberg and it definitely won’t be my last. I’m a major sucker for fake relationships and instant chemistry romances. Blakely and Slade have chemistry in spades straight from their sassy meet cute. Each page reeled me in a little bit more until I couldn’t put it down! Slade is insanely charming, a true dream book boyfriend. The way he encourages Blakely to rediscover herself had me swooning and grinning from ear to ear.
Blakely, newly divorced and feeling a little distrustful of herself, never knew she needed or deserved a man like Slade. There’s so many relatable characteristics in a Blakely that’s shes every girl. We’re all insecure in certain aspects, we fight to howl at the moon and let our lights shine bright. To find a man, like Slade, to be by our side is a dream come true. There was so much summer loving, camp-style fun happening, I can’t resist loving this book!! The perfect read to take your mind off the real world for a few hours!!

4.5 Stars
This book was different than I was expecting. No, I’m not even sure what I was expecting, but good was different.
I’m fully aware that makes no sense. None. Let me try to explain.
But Blakely and Slade were not the “normal” age gap romance. He wasn’t slightly immature and allowed to grow up while they were together to “grow in” to the relationship (thank goodness) and she wasn’t as hung up on age as the older woman is in the older woman age gap trope. Yes, she had her moments, but she really wasn’t.
Because of both of these things, this book felt fresh. It’s a lighter book for Kristy Bromberg and doesn’t have as much angst as other titles, but it still has the emotional connection with the characters, a believable romance, and enough swoony moments to make sure you are pulling for their relationship to succeed.
I enjoyed and recommend this title.
Oh my gosh !! I seriously loved this book so damn much . As a 40 year old woman I was so happy to read a book with a woman that’s approaching 40 and a younger man . Blakey and Slade are two strong characters that had me laughing , swooning and well I just loved their story . This book had a little of everything I wanted . It’s definitely a lighthearted , fun and sexy read . It’s also a stand-alone novel .
Well-written for this time of what we are going through. Kristy done an excellent job with Slade and Blakely. From the beginning to the end with details of how their chemistry enhance their feelings for one another.
This is such a sweet and sexy romance! After reading the author’s previous novel, Hard to Handle, I knew I would continue to read anything she writes. While this is definitely wasn’t as angsty and emotional, it was still so good.
Slade Henderson and Blakely Foxx meet in a bar one night–a bar she’s never ever been to and talked herself into going. She’s had a bad day is ready to tell the guy off who has appeared next to her and starts talking. Until she turns and looks at him. Blakely can tell that she is older than him and leaves when her insecurities get the best of her. This is an age gap story, but not by crazy standards. She is 39 and he is 31.
Blakely is a divorcee and her ex has left her with a lot of emotional baggage and insecurities about herself and her life. To top that off, she has a co-worker at her work who she calls “Horrible Heather” who is basically trying to get Blakely to quit her job. Blakely has had enough.
With a work camp retreat coming up, Slade steps in as her “boyfriend.” And, oh boy, Slade is the perfect book boyfriend. Confident, positive, sexy, says what he means and he is a cardiothoracic surgeon! He is also the perfect cheerleader for Blakely.
I loved that the main conflict was more about getting herself back(confidence) and learning to howl at the moon and less about the age difference. She has issues with it at first, but as the story progresses, it is mentioned less.
Thank you to Valentine PR and the author for a digital advanced readers copy in exchange for my honest review.
I liked it overall, not gonna say its totally realistic but it did keep me up wondering what was going to happen next. Good enough.
I don’t regret I read this. It was amazing and so sweet! Blakely is a great character and Slade is so swoon-worthy. The two of them together, hotness! Their chemistry and their banter is fun and steamy. I was really invested in their story and couldn’t wait to see how it ended.
This is really well-written, fun and light-hearted.
What an absolutely cracking read !
Just what I needed to break up my reading pattern and offer some light emotional relief !
What I loved is that I could totally relate to Blakely and all her insecurities and how she felt about them, but when you have the right cheerleader in your corner it helps you a lot !
Brilliant Easy 5 star

What a great funny, flirty rom com!!! Kristy Bromberg gives us everything we want just the way it should be with the flair only she can in this new book. Blakely Foxx is having a tough time. Facing forty, still struggling with her divorce from her ex who is now getting married to a woman half her age and fighting for a promotion that her boss doesn’t think she is worthy of, Blakely just can seem to find the energy and self esteem to make what she wants happen. But then she meets Slade Henderson, the very, and yes GQ very, hot almost 10 years younger cardiothoracic surgeon at a bar. They don’t exactly hit it off right away but as fate would have it the push and pull and inevitable chemistry begins. Slade is completely off the charts swoon worthy and is there for Blakely as she navigates her way. I really did love this feel good book. It should definitely be your next 1 click!!!
I loved Blakely and Slade so much!! Age is just a number. This story made me laugh, swoon and so much more. K. Bromberg can write some seriously good books.
Flirting with 40 is a beautifully written contemporary romance. Blakely and Slade are both great characters. They share an instant attraction and a strong chemistry. I love all about this sweet and sexy romance. Blakely is beautiful, but insecure, and she needs to find her strength, and happiness, after her divorce. Slade, a Cardiothoracic Surgeon, is handsome, and sexy. He is younger than Blakely, but he is mature, caring, and supportive. He has been suspended from work, and he is waiting to retrieve his right to practice. They are perfect together, and they are supportive of each other. The storyline is lighthearted, but it has some dramas, and twists and turns. I love the ending. Zachary Webber and Emma Wilder did a great job with the narration. I love Emma Wilder’s male voice! Their voices are great together. I enjoyed it.
