I did something I had never done before. I had a one-night stand. Then in true me fashion, I left my phone at his house during my desperate venture to escape.I tried hard to ignore the texts sent to my best friend’s phone…Amethyst: Sup, these selfies are cute as shit, but your lips looked better wrapped around my… speak of him, or that night again…
I’m Amethyst Lily Tatum, and up until this point, I’d managed to maintain a fairly low-key life. I’m what you would call a socially unacceptable hot mess. Instead of partying, I’m skating, flipping ollie’s over guys who loved to underestimate me. Then I started college, met a wild girl who I would soon call my best-friend, had my first drunk one-night stand, left my phone at his house, and then, when I finally managed to meet my mom’s new boyfriend, I found out that my one-night stand, was now my new stepbrother.

I was intrigued by Flip Trick from the first moment I saw the cover appear on my social media. From the vibrant colours of the cover to the fascinating characters of this story, Flip Trick is a New Adult romance that will keep you turning the page until the very end!
Amethyst Lily Tatum is about to have her world flipped upside down. The moment she decides to do something wild is a moment she will never forget. Maddox Stone is an unforgettable bad boy and her new stepbrother. As days go by, Ame and Maddox grow closer together and the attraction they have been feeling from the start intensifies with each moment they create together. Are they ready for something more or will that night of passion that they shared be the end of their story?
I have to admit that Ame and Maddox drove me completely crazy at times! I was ready to jump in the book and tell them to finally give their love a chance!!! This couple had many ups and downs and I was frustrated that so much drama got in the way of their HEA. I liked the chemistry between them from the very start. The twists and turns in this story were making me indulge in some much needed chocolate therapy … lol!!!
I absolutely loved the supporting cast of characters. They were a great addition to this story and their role in Maddox and Ame’s story was very important. They were present for them in good times and in bad times. This was a great reading escape and even if Ame and Maddox drove me crazy a few times during my reading journey, I enjoyed reading about their love story.
I give, Flip Trick, by Amo Jones, 4 angsty, page-turning, falling for the bad boy stars!

I love stories that throw all the shiz my way. And by shiz I mean the this is gonna gut you, shock you, have you wanting to throw your kindle and beat someone shiz. And we get that in this book. So much of it and I LOVED IT. It’s what I live for in books and Amo has always been so good at giving me just that.
Absolutely loved this book.
OMG Amo has seriously knocked it out of the park with this one!
She has written a brilliantly crafted push/pull angsty read with hot AF characters and chemistry that will set your kindle on fire. I inhaled this book as quickly as I could as once I started it I was 200% hooked and unable to put this beauty down. She threw some simply brilliant twists and turns in and when you think your getting your happy she turns everything upside down!!
Amethyst is one sexy, sassy, girl who pulls you in as soon as you meet her and is oblivious to the pull she has. Maddox is a force of nature. He is the type of boy your warned about but you can’t stay away from. The only girl that calls to him and seems to be able to handle him is Amethyst but with all the odds being stacked against them the category 5 tornado is on its way to leave a path of destruction in its wake.
I went through a whole host of emotions reading this, I laughed with the brilliant humour, I cried with the pain that sunk into my pores and I wanted to throw my kindle across the room numerous times but each emotion that was yanked from me was totally worth it.
I have always been a huge fan of Amo and her style of writing but I honestly think this was one of my favourite books of hers.
Amo Jones is a new author to me, so when I dived into Flip Trick, I had no idea it would be such an emotional roller coaster ride and I absolutely love it. It’s been a while since I stayed up all night and devoured a book in one sitting. This book is definitely worth the lack of sleep. I was trapped in the drama and craziness of this book from page one until the very last page.
Amo is an amazing storyteller and reading her words was effortless. I like that the story was told in multiple first person POV. I really got to know each character’s side of the story. There were lots of twists in the story that keep me engaged and on my toes. Just when I though one obstacle was demolished, life threw a curve ball their way to drag them apart again. However, the drama and craziness were a bit too much at the end, which left some side storylines unfinished. In my opinion, the last twist was not necessary to complete the main storyline of Ame and Mad’s journey.
I truly enjoyed this emotional roller coaster and would highly recommend it. Amo Jones has become another addition to my one-clicked author. She will be on my list of “books I have to wait to start on the weekends” because for sure I’ll pull an all-nighter to finish her book.
I received an advance reviewer copy of the book for free from Social Butterfly PR in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review
Love is a theme park, so lets’s burn this bitch down….
I hate Rollercoaster’s but give me a storyline that gives me the feels of being on one and i freaking love it!!!
Amo Jones you do it to me every time!!
Flip Trick is an emotional, gritty story of soul mates. With destiny leading Amethyst and Maddox to the right place and the right time in their lives.
With so much going on in between this story kept me gripping me kindle with what was going to happen next. Maddox Stone was everything that Amo promised us. He’s cocky, confusing, a bit of an asshole that we love to hate and hate to love. Oh and so very, very hot.
Amethyst was everything that i love from a kick ass take no shit girl. She was the perfect balance between tomboy and girly girl. She’s not like most girls and makes no apologies for it. I loved that she never wanted to be like everyone else. She also didn’t see what others saw about her, she was just her.
She’s a rebel without a cause, and her soul is fucking reckless, but i want it.
Amethyst and Maddox made me smile and made me so angry at them. They broke my heart, built it up then broke it all over again. But what was meant to be will come and when it did they made me swoon with love. There’s no doubt getting their HEA was a struggle and a test of their bond. It was so so worth going through there struggles, I absolutely adored them both, Maddox and all his alpha, protectiveness and Amethyst who fought him for all the right reason. He was sexy, sweet and loyal to a fault. Amethyst was beautiful and strong and didn’t just fall at his feet boy did she make him work!!
Amo Jones…
That crazy Kiwi author…
Jesus Christ!!! What an amazing ride this woman has taken me on, filled with so many twists and turns, I got major book related whiplash.
I always have a certain high expectation when reading an Amo Jones book, and every single time, it exceeds it and completely blows it out of the water.
It’s not any different with Flip Trick.
The main characters, the side characters, the BIG MAJOR TWISTS, loved every single little bit.
Amethyst is a woman who has this IDGAF personality and I absolutely loved that about her. The reason for her pink hair is because “fuck society and it’s standards and norms.”
I adored that! She was one tough B. A perfect compliment to our DELICIOUSLY DANGEROUS Maddox.
Uugghhh, that man… I saw sides of him I honestly didn’t think I was going to see.
The character development for EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER was on point! Jones doesn’t leave anyone behind. It was so great to see not only the main H/h, but the supporting roles grow, change, adapt.
And, that’s one of the things that I always enjoy about Amo Jones’ books. You never get stuck in a story that simply revolves around two people, it revolves around everyone.
Flip Trick is going to snatch you up, tape your eyes open, ignore the rest of the world, stay up till 6am, gasp so hard you’re going to choke on your spit, and then release you AFTER you get to the end… or, maybe that just happened to me, but that’s how good this story was.
I can’t wait to see what else is in store *cough*cough* ‘MANIK
Holy freaking cow! I feel like you just stabbed my heart and I’m only half way through.
Absolutely freaking fantastic. I loved this novel. This author is known for being creative and this does not disappoint.
Amethyst and Maddox have this up down love and devastating heartbreak through several years. It’s not just a couple years in college. It goes way back.
When you think you have their storyline mapped out, the author plot twists the entire novel to gut you open again.
I can’t dig in to the twists and turns because it gives too much away. However I will say this, it’s worth staying up and losing sleep over. Another brilliant novel that holds you in the anguish and sorrow.
She’s cute when she’s blushing, but deadly when she’s trying not to blush. She’s a rebel without a cause, and her soul is fucking reckless, but I want it. I want all of it and her.
Dang. I’ve been craving this book ever since the first teaser was shared, but I definitely wasn’t prepared for the story that Amo wove together. Knowing her, I should’ve guessed there would be something going on behind the scenes and that things wouldn’t be as they appeared.
The Characters
Amethyst. This girl is kind of everything I wish I could be. She’s a little bit of a tomboy, a smidge of a girly-girl, honest, a little awkward, and supremely interesting. She grew up in an unconventional family situation, but one that seemed to work for her and allow her the support she needed. In the story, we are allowed glimpses into her childhood, but mostly get to know that family in the here and now. As we get more involved, we see there are some tangled strings in the background that nobody has yet discovered are connected.
Leila. What a best friend! I’d love to have her around!! She’s kind of opposite Amethyst in many ways, but her loyalty is beyond anything I’ve ever seen. I love that she pushes Amethyst to think about her choices and why she’s making them, but she also gives her support even when she doesn’t agree with her. Definitely one of my favorite “side” characters to read – she truly added life to this story.
Maddox. *swoons on sight* “…because guys like Maddox Stone, they broke girls like me.”This guy, here … He’s kind of everything I hate to love, ya know? He’s arrogant, charming, GORGEOUS, and every other thing that draws me to a man, but makes me sort of want to sock him. The thing with Maddox was that there was more than just what we saw; he had a depth that I wasn’t quite expecting of him and that fit his character and reflected his life experiences. There were many times that I was disappointed in him, but overall he seemed real and I could understand his choices.
Tristan & Wolfe. These guys definitely bring balance to all that is Maddox Stone. I love that throughout the story, they have his back when needed, but also give him hard truths. They’re never ones to pull punches or sugarcoat things, and their loyalty to family is just … beyond. I’d LOVE to have these two in my corner.
The Story
There is so much more to this story than I think I can put into my review. Firstly, there’s a lot I can’t mention, because I can’t spoil things for you. Overall, though, this story swept me away. Amethyst and Maddox went through a LOT and they didn’t always come out smelling like roses. They both made mistakes, hurt each other, were hurt by ones they loved, and made some rash, life altering decisions. Through all of this, though, they were an example of how life’s twists and turns can sometimes derail even the most solid of loves.
The only thing keeping this from a 5 star, for me, was just that in some parts I was left wanting more. I know that authors can’t possibly include every single progression or development in a story, because then their books would end up being thousands of pages, but there were a few parts in the story that I felt resolved too quickly or progressed too quickly, without much explanation or description. But that in no way deterred from this story making me FEEL all the things. I definitely enjoyed every twist and turn, and surprisingly got just as involved in some of the side characters’ stories as I did our mains!
“I fell in love with Maddox as a child, I had loved him without even knowing it and because of that, the love we shared was primal and raw. It’s an untouched kind of love. Now, I get him for the rest of my life.”
I freaking loved this book from beginning to end. Amo Jones won me over completely with her last couple of books, her style is phenomenal and she quickly became one of my favorite authors. Anyway, I loved it but I only could give it 4.5 half stars for two reasons. One of them I’m only going to get to later but the main reason was the following. This story frustrated me to all hell, and I couldn’t decide that it was a great thing or an annoying thing about the book because it could be either. Is it great that the author could create a fictional story that got me so emotionally engaged that the book generated these kinds of strong feeling in me. Or is it annoying that she made her characters act so stupid in the first place. So you see my dilemma, right?
The writing is really great but if you read anything from Amo Jones from the last couple of years then you are not surprised. It’s fluid, easy to read and also the emotions seep off the pages. It has a complex storyline with interesting characters, so simple everything I like in my reads.
Honestly, at first, like for the first 45% of the book I was a bit surprised with the way the plot went because everything I read from the author so far had a pretty dark and gritty twist from the very begging and here it came into play pretty late. But I don’t want to spoil anything, so moving on. The plot starts out as a straight girl meets guy and they had amazing chemistry thing, sure with a couple of hiccups and family drama along the way but you get it. A college romance at its peak. However, then the other shoe drops and things get more emotional and gritty as I expected from the author. It was amazing and frustrating to no end. The characters made some insanely illogical choices and that caused the most of the conflicts between them. They were simply stupid, that’s all. Still, my heart broke for them a couple of times.
The romance is awesome in this book. It is a heartbreaking, soul-mate kind of situation where life always steps between the two of them. It was beautiful, complex, tear-inducing and just simply good. It helped that the main characters had amazing chemistry.
Let’s see, Amethyst was an interesting and unusual main character. I loved her blunt, raw and honest character. She has some unique interest, thou I found her desire to be an actor strange when she had trouble being in the center of attention. I don’t an that you can’t be an actress if you have anxiety and such it was just a bit strange how matter of fact she handled acting with her issues. Anyway she had a pretty awesome view of life, and I liked her personality. I just hope the author used her skating talent more than a prop to establish her tomboyish ways.
Then there was Maddox. I liked the idea of him as well, thou he had a bit of an ulterior motive at the beginning and also he was rougher and his temper and hang-ups were the cause of the couple suffering for the most part. In theory, his ideas of how a family should work and taking responsibility for his was a grand idea but in their situation, it was clear that it is simply doomed from the beginning and he is only causing pain for those around him. Anyway, they were just overall too stubborn to calm down and talk rationally.
I also liked the secondary character, especially the brothers but I wish we saw more of them along the way. I felt that the way the plot line was speeding on and with the main focus on Maddox and Ame, we just didn’t get enough opportunity to get to know the other characters deeply enough. There was a lot of potential there too, not just with the brother but also with Ame mother as well.
So before I get to my conclusion, the other thing I didn’t like was the big ‘drama’ at the very end. It came way out of the blue and was a bit too crazy for the story. Especially, since it was over and done with, in one or so chapters. I just didn’t get the reason for it.
All, in all I loved this book and it definitely lives up for the hype going around for it. If you like emotional but a bit darker romances then this book is definitely for you.
Shut the front door. Close the curtains. Hide yourself from anyone. Amo Jones has a new book that will blow your socks off. Literally punch a hole deeply and make home in it. Holy Smokes, what did I just read? Let me tell you, what I read. I read a freaking amazing book. I read a book that ignited a fire in my heart. I read a book that stroked all kinds of emotions in me. I read a book that gave me the highest highs and the addictions. I inhaled Flip Trick like crack. I plunged deep into its velvety pages. Amo Jones is a straight up G with her books. I love her books. Her books are always different. Her books are her own formula. I want to pry into her mind and know her secrets. The writing is out of this world. The characters so delectable and mouth watering. The storyline so unconventional with a Amo Jones signature that I go over the moon for. Flip Trick is its own brand of cocktail. Flip Trick is its own entity. Flip Trick is a raging beast that ravaged my soul. I surrendered to its magic.
Flip Trick is a brilliant standalone. I was straight up lunatic over Flip Trick. (Okay, I am always a lunatic over books. Hahaha). Anyway, I was up till 4 am reading it. I freaking devoured this story. I could not look away. It crept into my bloodstream. I was completely gone. Holy batman, Flip Trick took me under. The twist and turns. The angst. The drama. BLOODY MAGNIFICENT. I was quacking with adrenaline. Intense. Addictive. Seductively hot. Flip Trick was ferocious to my heart. Flip Trick was a mesmerizing romance with titillating tale of intense love, heartache, trust with a darkish twist to pull you in. Amo Jones paints an exciting and vivid take you can imagine. Her writing is explosive. Her storytelling so magical. I adore it. Flip Trick took me on a ride I will never forget. However, I felt that there was too much going on. I was too overwhelmed by the events in the book. But I was still enchanted. It was definitely a great read.
Amo Jones characters are unique. They take you on such a wild ride. Usually, I read an Amo Jones books for two things. The story and the characters. And Amo Jones are by far the most colourful and crazy. And I like it. Amethyst (This name is so freaking cool) and Maddox are freaking beasts. Gosh, I love them. The sexual tension. The push and pull. The chemistry. So infectious and undeniably sexy. I gobbled every single emotion and energy between them. They created magic and fire that burned me. I fell in love with Amethyst. She was fun. She was fiery. She was a non conformist. She stuck to who she was. In a way she taught me to stick to your own beat. Maddox was an animal. Intense. Dangerous. Commanding. Wow. I swooned hard for him.
Flip Trick was definitely a favourite of mine for 2019. It had everything I loved and expected in an Amo Jones book.
One thing you can be certain of when you read a Amo Jones book, is the uniqueness of it and the one of kind style of writing that she has. You are literally wrapped up in her stories and Flip Trick is just that kind of book. There is the pain, the angst and the heartbreak on top of witty banter, sinful moments and a one of a kind love. Amethyst is a one of a kind character. She is driven and determined. Then life throws her a totally wrench in her plans and things change course. Maddox is sin on a stink and is a fighter. Granted there were times I wanted to smack them both for stupid things they pulled but it made all the more angstier! They were completely star crossed lovers and as soon something goes right, something tears them apart. My heart broke for both of these characters as they navigated everything that was thrown at them.
Overall, this is an amazing story with lots of twists that make your breath catch but moments where you completely melt. It is raw, and very emotional that keeps you on your toes and begging for more. I honestly did not want it to end. If you want a one of a kind read, snag up Flip Trick because you will be blown away. I highly recommend it, hands down!
I feel like I’ll be doing a general disservice to the eyes if I don’t mention that cover… you all did stop to stare, right? It’s GORGEOUS! I can’t even handle the uniqueness… the color… the just pop of it… the way it MAKES you want to read the words hidden behind that beautifulness… because it is book cover PERFECTION! I LOVE when authors aren’t scared to be creative with their cover. When they step out behind the normal half-naked man with abs and do something utterly creative.
THIS is what I want on my book shelf!
This is what I’d spend my last buck on. It’s beautiful and creative… it intrigues me.
The characters were some of the best Amo Jones has created. Amethyst is just as pure, strong, and fun-loving as her name implies. I loved how she seemed so real. She was so true to herself and who she was. She’s an impressive character. Maddox was an enigma. He seemed more mysterious than and not as clear to understand as Amethyst. However, it was obvious he had fallen for Amethyst. The big ol’ MMA fighter had a sweet heart and loving ways with Amethyst. I could not get enough of these two!
I’m gonna tell you all strait… this was IT… this was the best book that I have ever read by Amo Jones. I also don’t really read stepbrother romances… I have a few step brothers and that just makes me feel all yucky inside! BUT… Flip Trick was flippin’ amazing! Ms. Jones was creative and fun… I was shocked that she was still able to make this book her trademark heartache but she still managed to pull my heart strings. It was THAT good! So Ms. Jones gives us a book that just flows… a book that just reads itself to you with its creativeness, with the way she made it fun and unique, while still making me feel her words in my heart.
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
This book was a little different from the author’s usual books, but I really enjoyed it! I was up til 4 am reading this because I couldn’t put it down.
Amethyst and Maddox make quite the pair of star crossed lovers. These two seem to be made for each other, but they do off and on better than anyone! As soon as things seem to be going well, something happens to screw them up. They have quite the complicated relationship, but it is fun to watch!
This may not be quite what you expect to get from an Amo Jones novel, but I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!
This is an emotionally tormented story of love, family and second chances. Or I guess, second, third, and fourth chances.
Maddox and Amethyst’s journey was all consuming and addictive, it gripped my soul, captured my heart and stole every thought in my head. I hurt for them and loved for them, it was just so truly stunning.
Their times apart were so filled with pain and so powerful, I felt my heart shattering. It completely took over my soul as I read it, I have tension knots from how invested it made me. Amo Jones is a true master storyteller, with a unique ability to make you feel like you’ve truly been sucked into a book. You live everything the characters do. I can’t wait to read more from Amo!
Absolutely LOVED this read! I felt it was a pure blend of real life, angst and the fast-paced action that tends to follow when you promise yourself that you will absolutely never do something. Of course, BOOM, it happens or the trail leading to it takes place and everything goes mental. That is exactly this book. Two people, their surrounding friends, life and everything in between swirl into madness after a one night stand that changes everything.
I loved the main characters and found that they were given plenty of detail, really making it easy to connect with them, on both a personal and story level. It meant that I was definitely unable to put the book down, which I am not even remotely upset about!
The pace matched the madness of the story well. You bounced about, wondering if their lives would ever be the same. You were filled with joy, then sadness, then just wondering if they’d ever catch a break after one slip-up, but isn’t that just how life is??
Overall, this was excellent. A true Amo read and definitely one I recommend, especially if you want to have an exciting, real and truly fun read.
OH MY GOD!!! This is my first Amo Jones read and while I have been meaning to jump into her books for some time now, it’s only just been now that I have been able to get my hands on one. Flip Trick is nothing like I thought it was going to be, absolutely the opposite in fact. My heart was whole, but then it was ripped apart and stomped all over!!! Only to be put back together and stomped on again. But do you know what, this is what made the story so great. It is nothing like the stories that fall into the same genre.
Maddox is as alpha male as you can get. Holy heck, I thought he was pretty hot, truth be told but I suppose he was so intense in his feelings as well. The way he loves Ame is just… woah! Their love is epic, it is soul crushing, it is meant to be.
Ame is a skater chick, bit of a tomboy who doens’t really date guys like Maddox. But the connection is there for them, and while she is trying to stay away, her body and heart wants him and no one else.
If you think you know how this story is going to go, you have no idea!
The push and pull of the characters had me hanging on their every word. What was going to happen? Why wasn’t it their time yet? So many questions running through my head while reading this book had me non stop reading from start to finish. My poor husband was neglected, he even had to make dinner himself! HA! The angst!! OH the angst!! The tension so thick I could cut it with a knife. I cried at least 3 times while reading, just because the emotions running through the pages was so intense it could feel them inside of me. The twists and turns had my head spinning, but it all just made the book so much better for me. I just can’t put into words how much I love this book.
After reading Flip Trick I now definitely know I am going to read every single one of Amo’s past releases. I can’t wait to dive into more. This book hit me in a way I will now be thinking about for days to come. I so can not wait to read it again! PLUS isn’t the cover just gorgeous! I can not wait to have this baby on my shelf. If you love an angst filled drama, that is a little forbidden, and an emotional ride, then you are going to LOVE this book! I highly recommend grabbing a copy.
This story was E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G!
I don’t want to give anything away, because the journey is the best part.
Maddox meets Amethyst at a bar. And one wild night, leads to a drunken one-night stand…until they meet again. It’s about to get complicated, because Ame just found out that her one night stand was her stepbrother.
She’s the girl with pink hair who likes to spend her time studying and at the skate part. Not a girly girl in anyway and just doesn’t care what other people think.
Maddox comes from a well-known family with a whole lot of money. But he’s in school and also building his name on the MMA circuit. He’s all about just having fun and no strings, except for his family.
Their connection transcends time. Two souls that always knew one another. Their timing was not always right, but they would eventually find their way. Their story made me smile, got me angry but also broke my heart at times. Something that was meant to be, but getting there was a struggle and a test of their bond. I absolutely adored Maddox and all his alpha, protectiveness. He was sexy, sweet and loyal to a fault. Ame was beautiful and strong. I loved Maddox’s brothers and their interconnected story lines.
This book left me reeling with all of the obstacles these characters had to overcome. Secrets, deception and lies never go over well. And those on the receiving end always suffer the most. Maddox and Ame were two halves of a whole. Their souls connected long ago. It just took life time to catch up so that they could finally find their way home.
The writing in this story was above par and kept me riveted to the pages with all of the twists that kept jumping out at me. Amethyst was my girl! I loved her tomboy/princess mix and she just had her own funky style that sang to me. Maddox was a true alpha male with two brothers that all pretty much were a legend on campus. The soul deep connection between Maddox and Ame could be felt not only by the characters in the story but by the reader as well. I pulled for their relationship and the angst with every single turn the book takes made me unable to even set it down. I had to know what would happen next even if I was yelling out loud at Ame or Maddox like they could hear me and stop whatever they were doing. They didn’t. But this story was a rollercoaster ride I didn’t want to end. I love new adult stories and even though sometimes I couldn’t believe one more obstacle was keeping my journey from going from point A to point B…I still really enjoyed the ride.
I don’t even know where to start with this review!
Knowing this was Amo’s first proper standalone, I had a feeling it would be a different book from any of her others. I had no idea though just how much I would love it.
When Maddox and Amethyst meet in college, they have no idea just how much their pasts are interlinked. When they do, what started as just a crazy one night stand, leads into so much more.
When they both discover that her mum is in fact dating his dad, making them step-siblings, they know they should end whatever it is they are doing. But the constant electrifying pull becomes impossible to ignore.
Just when you think they will admit their true feelings to each other, a huge bomb drops, leaving their relationship in tatters.
One of the many things I adored about this book was that it wasn’t something that happened immediately, massive obstacles came between them, meaning the story spans out over a number of years. We get to see them both as individuals, trying to make the best of their situations while still feeling the pull of each other.
This love story is complicated, messy, heartbreaking, frustrating and complex. But all of this makes it that much more perfect, as nothing worth fighting for ever comes easy.
I will admit that at one point I’d become so anxious that they wouldn’t get their HEA that I messaged two of my friends who’d already finished it to try and get them to tell me if they did!!! Luckily they both refused to spill, and I’m so grateful they did as I’d never have experienced the full emotional rollercoaster of this phenomenal story otherwise.
With every book of Amo’s I read, her writing grips me on not just an emotional level, but it finds its way into my soul and embeds itself there. But this book, this book completely stole my heart, in all its messed up, angst fuelled glory. And my god is there angst in this book. There’s bucketfuls of it!!! But beyond all of the push and pull, the back and forth, the emotional whiplash, there’s passion, happiness and a love so strong, so deep you feel it in your bones. You just KNOW, that this book will stay with you forever.
Amo’s books always leave me with the biggest hangover, and although I know this will do exactly that, I will embrace it with the biggest smile on my face every time I think of Maddox and Amethyst.
Thank you Amo, for literally crushing my heart into a thousand pieces, then ever so slowly and carefully binding it all back together again.
My favourite book PERIOD.
10 HUGE SPARKLY STARS
Flip trick was another heart-pounding and unique story from Amo Jones that once again pushed the envelope. This author never fails to pull her punches and through Maddox and Amethyst, led us on another fast-paced and adrenaline pumping story. This story was sexy, explosive and never short on drama!
When free-spirit Amethyst Lily Tatum meets resident badboy and undefeated fighter, Maddox Stone she could have never expected the fireworks that resulted. After a one-night stand with the raw and gritty fighter, she is further rocked when she realizes he is her new stepbrother. Wow! This story was insanely crazy. Maddox, Amethyst, and their friends and family were such a trip. Amethyst and Maddox were intense, honest, loving, gritty and sexy af. I was hooked on them from the beginning.
But while I enjoyed this story and every shocking, angsty and mic dropping minute, there were times I was completely lost in the myriad of plot twists and shocking developments. It seemed excessive at times and after a while you became numb to allllll the drama and bombs as it became almost expected. All in all, while this wasn’t my favorite Amo Jones book, this was still an explosive and jaw-dropping read and one you should definitely check out! 4 stars! ~Ratula
