I did something I had never done before. I had a one-night stand. Then in true me fashion, I left my phone at his house during my desperate venture to escape.I tried hard to ignore the texts sent to my best friend’s phone…Amethyst: Sup, these selfies are cute as shit, but your lips looked better wrapped around my… speak of him, or that night again…
I’m Amethyst Lily Tatum, and up until this point, I’d managed to maintain a fairly low-key life. I’m what you would call a socially unacceptable hot mess. Instead of partying, I’m skating, flipping ollie’s over guys who loved to underestimate me. Then I started college, met a wild girl who I would soon call my best-friend, had my first drunk one-night stand, left my phone at his house, and then, when I finally managed to meet my mom’s new boyfriend, I found out that my one-night stand, was now my new stepbrother.

Well this story will sure keep you on your feet trying to see what obstacle will come next and knock Amethyst and Maddox apart. There was always and I mean always something happening to these two but the bond they had (had always had) kept pulling them back together. I loved the brothers in this book, one I wanted to slap because what he did was not cool. I wish that part was explained a little better though. There were times I wanted to probably slap everyone in this book except Kennedy cause she is precious. True to Amo writing there was a lot of messed up stuff , lots of sexy times and not sexy times. twist and turns.
This was my first book from the author, so I wasn’t familiar with her unique writing style.
Amethyst and Maddox’s story have so many ups and downs. The book is full of drama and there are twists and turns every few chapters! The Stones brothers are hot and sexy; I hope that will get Talon and Wolf’s stories as well!
There are so many people who want to keep Maddox and Amethyst apart. At times I even thought that it may not meant to be; I mean it was like fate loves to mess with them! The story has many unique points but at times I felt like the drama was too much. There are many second characters that are somehow connected together with secrets and that made the story really interesting!
I really enjoyed the book and I really liked the author’s writing style!!
This book y’all… this book was THE BEST book that Amo Jones has ever written!! The writing was fluid, the characters were well developed, the plot was moving and evocative, and it was beyond entertaining. I read Flip Trick in one sitting because I could not put it down!
Amethyst was my kind of girl. She had an independent streak a mile wide, she was loyal to a fault, she was fun loving and adventurous, and she was human. She was fiercely strong, compassionate and understanding in most situations, but she was also very vulnerable, especially when it came to Maddox.
Maddox was a bit of a mystery. I still don’t completely understand the makings of this man, but he was definitely a sexy person to read about 😉 He lived life on the edge, an MMA fighter who wound up in the big time, and he had fallen in love with Amethyst. Unfortunately, living his life out loud drew a lot of drama, making his and Amethyst’s happy ending hard to attain. But never once, through all of the obstacles, did I ever doubt his feelings for her.
This story does hurt the heart. I cringed way too many times and wanted to blast Amo at almost every turn. How could she do this to me? How dare she treat my characters this way? Quit playing games with my heart! Seriously, if you’ve ever read anything from Amo before, this book is vastly different from anything you’ve ever read from her before. If you haven’t read one of her books, Flip Trick would be an amazing start. It’s dramatic, entertaining, full of heart and full of guts.
Another fantastic 5 star
Can I just say I love this cover to start with and I have loved the teasers as well?
I could not wait to get my hands on this book, and it was so worth the wait.
I started it and could not put it down it was that good. The storyline the twists this book will have you turning the pages to find out what is going happen next. The book is very well written
You will love and hate characters but you will fall for Maddox at first I was not too sure on him but by the end, I really liked him.
Amethyst I have a girl crush on I adore her everything you expect in a female Character I really liked the banter between her and Maddox. Their chemistry is off the charts
All in all another fantastic book by this author
I was already half way in love with Maddox Stone before I’d even started, just from the tag line on the cover. I’m a sucker for a bad boy and fighter so I knew I was going to love this book. By the end of chapter two, I was head over heels in love with Maddox. Maddox Stone is everything that I love in a man. He’s cocky, confusing, a bit (a lot) of an a**hole and oh so very, very hot. I spent way too much time swooning over Maddox than is socially acceptable. And it wasn’t just Maddox that had me swooning. Amethyst is my new girlie crush. I found her really easy to like. She’s the perfect balance between tomboy and girly girl. She’s not like most girls and I loved that she never wanted to be like everyone else.
I’m a massive fan of this author. She’s one of my automatic one clicks and I always devour her books in one sitting. Flip Trick has a slightly lighter feel than most of her other books but in true Amo Jones style, there’s some twists thrown in to keep you on your toes. The chemistry between Emma and Maddox is hot, their story has the perfect amount of angst and the characters (both main and other family members) are really easy to like. Another fantastic book from Amo Jones.
Leave it to f*cking Amo Jones to write a toxic story that I love way more than is probably sane. As if that is anything new….
Let me just say that if you have never read an Amo Jones book before, buckle up baby because you are about to go on a ride unlike anything you have ever experienced before. Not only are her stories so angst filled that you would start to question your sanity but every second you think you have it figured out you are wrong. Like so wrong that you are not even in the same zip code much less the same city.
“Because I want you. I want all of you. I want to fuck you until you can’t walk or talk, or fucking see straight. I want to ruin you, break you, and make you bleed so I can make it up to you again. I want to fuck you so hard that I leave an imprint of my cock inside of you, so everyone after me knows that you’re mine.”
Amethyst was the girl that you just can’t stay away from. She is beautiful yes, but so much more than that she is just a normal chick who prefers to do things her own way consequences be damned. Not one for drama or one night stands she is making her way through college by studying her ass off and working. Her best friend and roommate has been trying to get her out more and after too many desperate pleas to count, she agrees. Her “no one-night-stand” rule goes out the window the minute she meets Maddox Stone. Gravity shifted in his presence but so did something inside of her.
Maddox Stone knew who she was, but he never intended to sleep with her, too late for that now. While he knows what is to come, she still has no idea and the minute she sees him again he knows that everything is going to change. Maddox might be the playboy everyone thinks he is but once there was a girl he loved before she up and disappeared. If he is not careful Amethyst could be that and more but one small problem, his new stepsister isn’t going to make things easy on him.
“People have always said how if you put Maddox and I into the same room together, the universe feels as though it stops. We had that undeniable pull toward each other. When we were together, it was our world, everyone else merely existed in it.”
Amethyst and Maddox were savage!! That is the best and most inclusive way I can describe them because while the love they shared is very real practically from the start the obstacles they must overcome leave a trail of despair, anger and tragedy. The minute you think things are starting to go according to plan somethings shifts and you are left with an abundance of feelings you have no idea what to do with. I’ve read close to a dozen Amo Jones books at this point, and I am always so surprised at the levels she can reach with her words. Flip Trick was no different and while I am sad to say goodbye to Maddox and Amethyst, I have high hopes that one day we will get Kennedy’s story.
3.5/5 • 2/5
Let me first say how much I love Ame & Maddox. Their characters as individuals and as a couple were perfection. I love Maddox’s brothers and the role they played as well.
I wanted to love this book so much, and I did enjoy most of it. This author is known for twists in her books, so I wasn’t surprised at the curve balls of this book. HOWEVER, I felt like the one big one about 75% (ish) of the way through came out of left field completely. I almost had to double check I was reading the same book. It’s eventually explained but it felt rushed to me. The last 25% of the book (ish) seemed thrown together almost (for lack of a better word) and in my opinion needed elaborating on. I felt like the book ended before the story did.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved Maddox & Amethyst, and I’m happy with the ending. I just would’ve loved more in between. Some elaboration of overcoming everything they did.
SPOILERS** Stop here to avoid spoilers.
——————
The ‘kidnapping’. What? Out. Of. Nowhere. And okay, we get an explanation to the MC, but what happened to Ame’s in that house? Was it just from being knocked out when she was taken? Did more happen?
The hospital/memory loss. Again: What? I feel like this could’ve been drawn out a bit more. It warmed my heart Ken was the one to ‘heal’ her, but it was strange and rushed.
Grams. We just going to accept what Maddox did and not discuss? Okay then.
Move in, pregnant, married. The end. I needed more between kidnapping to the end.
STORY:
PROOFREADING:
OVERALL:
I almost quit reading this book about 25% in. In the beginning, the story wasn’t all that innovative, and the first half was very predictable. However, I fell in love with the characters! Not only have I never read about a skateboarding badass like Amethyst, but Maddox is the hottest male character I’ve met in years! His sexuality just radiated off the pages!!! During the second half, things pick up and definitely become unpredictable! So not only was this super sexy and steamy, but it also became a book filled with twists, turns, angst and drama.
Although the story was well told, there were an enormous amount of grammatical and punctuation errors. I did not notate all of them, so below is just a small example of the mistakes that distracted me while reading this book:
There were blatant mistakes like using FURTHER instead of FARTHER, THROUGH-OUT instead of THROUGHOUT, THAT when it should’ve been WHO, LA although it should’ve been L.A., and TICKS instead of TICS.
Semicolons weren’t used correctly, punctuation was occasionally incorrect (for example, there were questions with periods at the end instead of question marks), and apostrophes weren’t always used correctly (for example, Maddox’ should have been Maddox’s, and pops’ should have been pop’s).
There were sentences with missing words (for example, “and then he stands, his still on mine.”), sentences with extra words (such as, “Talon admires at me over his shoulder”), and sentences with the wrong words. The wrong punctuation was used with some of the dialogue, too. For example, [“Fuck society.” I smirk.”] should have been, [“Fuck society,” I smirk.”].
The majority of the errors were regarding commas. Rules for commas and the word OH we’re not followed (for example, “Oh my God” should have been “Oh, my God”). Commas were not always inserted before pronouns (for example, (“but baby girl”), commas were inserted after coordinating conjunctions at the beginning of sentences even though they shouldn’t have been, and commas were not inserted between multiple adjectives (for example, “small five-foot-two little body”). The FANBOYS comma rule wasn’t used consistently, and extra commas were occasionally inserted randomly (for example, “So, what, then?”).
Let me just start by saying that Amo Jones really took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions with this book! You start by meeting Amethyst, she is probably one of the coolest most down to earth characters in a book. She is beautiful without flaunting it or trying to gain attention from it. She loves to wear comfortable baggy clothes rather than the tight skirts and heels like most girls. And she LOVES to skate…it’s almost like breathing to her.
Maddox is a gorgeous well built man who loves to fight. He’s an undefeated MMA fighter that everyone seems to gravitate towards and women throw themselves at. Maddox was always that one elusive guy, until he met Amethyst. She was a game changer for him, he couldn’t get enough of her.
The chemistry between these two was off the charts, their relationship with almost bipolar. They had the highest highs, the ugliest lows and the sex was hot as f@@k! This book made me feel so many feels, it’s the beat when you need to put the book down because the author just ripped your heart out and stomped on it. She did put it back together, best feeling ever in a book. I definitely do recommend this book.
I liked this book, and I like issues that couples have to fight through to get back to each other, but it felt like almost too much. Amethyst & Maddox together are explosive, possessive, dirty & hot! I love that something keeps pulling them back together every time. I love a good possessive, rough alphahole and boy does Maddox fit that role. I do like this book I just felt like it needed to be not be as drawn out.
This was a good story with great characters and a lot of drama. The beginning of the story was a little slow and a bit repetitive at times, but the story did get better and the pace picked up. There was no denying the chemistry between Amethyst (Ame) and Maddox from the very beginning. I was rooting for them from beginning to end but there was just so much drama and the back and forth between them was a lot at times. It seemed like every time their relationship was going great a bomb was dropped that changed everything. I was not surprised by anything with regards to Cassidy. However, I did think that when it came to Maddox, Ame forgave him too easily and that they tried to fix everything with sex. I felt that the drama with Ame’s grandmother, the sex tape and the shocking news of an unexpected sibling was unnecessary. However, there was a moment in this story that was shocking. Maddox speech left me saying well damn. This story also had a few funny moments but I wanted this story to blow me away and it didn’t. It’s a one time read for me but it was a good story and I look forward to other books from this author.
I can’t believe I’ve never reviewed this. I have got to get myself together.
Ok, but seriously. I’d be a liar if I said that I didn’t want to read this book based on the cover. The first time I read it, I went in blind. No blurb, just the colors on the cover, luring me in.
I live these characters, this world. But it really is a lot. It takes some time to wrap your head around all of the moving pieces, and then by the middle of it, you’re questioning your sanity.
Like, did you really make me like this character I was certain I’d hate? Did you really make me hate someone I thought I liked? Why can’t I decide how I feel about any of them?
But by the end, you’ve decided. I did. But it’s a journey and half to get there.

You know you’ve found a really good book if you forget you’re reading a book, while reading the book…
This book was everything! It might not have torn me apart emotionally, but the rollercoaster ride in this was more intense than the superman ride I rode on as a kid, at Six Flags.
Maddox… Ugh, no words for my newfound obsession with this beautifully, imperfect perfection. What I wouldn’t give to have him alive and breathing, in front of me. *sigh*
Each character in this story had a life of it’s own. Their stories effortlessly lifting off these pages. No better connection can be made with these characters. It was truly one of a kind.
Ame and Maddox are the perfectly-imperfect couple. Their love is truly one of a kind and unique. All the obstacles and time could not keep these two apart.
The story was filled with so many plot twists, I thought I would get whiplash. It was one of those, ‘But wait, there’s more?’ There was never a dull moment. Everything flowed so well and perfectly. I would have liked a little more for their ending, but it was still pretty good.
Bad boy meets unconventional girl. Sparks fly. They can’t get enough of each other.
This may be the same old recipe of so many romance books and yet… It. Is. So. Good!
Maddox and Amethyst live a story ruled by fate, which is romance 1-0-1. Add that to the fact that the boy is an undefeated MMA fighter, protective, rich, who’s got a temper AND ‘unique’ skills in bed.
Also, the girl is quirky, beautiful, strong-minded AND skateboards.
To wrap it up, add a pinch of family drama.
For me, Fʟɪᴘ Tʀɪᴄᴋ was an unexpected nice reading. I enjoyed it. It took me a while to find myself interested in the story but once I did, it was fun.
The college vibe (dorms, bars, groups of friends, etc) is not really my “thing” when it comes to books, but you got to love Maddox and Ame!
One thing, though: I felt like she skipped some details which got me wondering what had happened to this or that character, or how they’ve got to a particular point in the story. But maybe that’s me.
This was my first book by Amo Jones and her style is quite different from what I’ve been reading lately.
Her characters are far from ordinary and I’m assuming that’s her trademark.
If you like young characters who aren’t afraid to take risks, don’t care about people’s opinions, and yet have a great sense of family, this book would be a good choice for you.
Flip Trick was a book about two souls who found each other young and through every imaginable situation could not be torn apart. This story was angsty greatness and as you read along you just didn’t know what was coming next. Maddox and his brothers were alpha perfection and I loved Amethyst! Great book!
This book had everything I look for in an Amo Jones book, lots of steamy sex, a strong lead female , an over the top Alpha male and a twist you never saw coming. There is a reason she is one of my top one click authors, she always keeps you on you toes.
This is my first book by this author but I have been following her and had her books on my TBR list for ages. I can’t wait to read more by her.
This book had me hooked from the start to the first and I never wanted to put it down. I shouldn’t have started it before bed as I ended up staying up reading until 1:40am when I made myself put the book down at 55% to get some sleep.
MADDOX THE DESTROYER STONE
My new book boyfriend.
Amethyst and Maddox are made for each other, but can they survive all the bumps along the way. This book is one you won’t want to miss.
This makes my fourth time reading “Fliptrick” by Amo Jones and I seriously doubt it’ll be my last.
Wanna know why I keep going back?
Firstly, the drama.
Fliptrick is like the best daytime soap you’ve ever watched. One in where you know two people are destined to be together but fates one cold hearted bitch, throwing out plot twists like that shits glitter in a parade. Always keeping them apart.
It’s like she’s screaming “destined to be together? Nahh…swipe left.”
Mmh it’s delicious right !?
There’s no doubt that Maddox and Amethyst have chemistry. Shit, the pull between the two is out of this world. They’re like magnets. No matter how much shit separates them they always end up back together.
Secondly… the romance
I won’t lie Maddox is not only hot, the dude is dirty AF. He checks off so many of my perfectly imperfect hero boxes it’s crazy. The dude loves freakin HARD. And I love just how hard he loves.
And Amethyst she’s badass. She’s the perfect mixture between insecure beauty and tomboy who doesn’t give a shit.
And thirdly… remember those plot twists I mentioned fate throwing around?
Yeah. Dude. You never see them coming. There’s so many “what the everloving fuck?”
moments it’s insane.
So can you see why I keep going back?
I love the fight. I love the drama. I love how in the end it’s all worth it.
I thought this was a good story, a little mellow for Amo but in a good way! I loved Maddox and Amerhyst I loved their love. I loved they had so many problems but their love was so strong that it was never questioned. I loved all of it!
5 stars to Flip Trick by Amo Jones !
“You’re everything that the world tells you not to be—and that’s why you’re interestingly beautiful.”
Wow is the first word that comes to mind after finishing this book . I have only read the The Silver Swan Series from Amo Jones so I was not sure what to expect going into this book . I knew there would be drama, some hot sex and angst and she delivered on all of that and so much more . Amethyst is not your typical girlie girl. She has a love for skateboarding, baggy clothes and pink hair . She does not wear heels or makeup and she is ok with being who she is . Maddox is your typical rich playboy , who never seems to care about much . Amethyst lets loose one night , meets Maddox , has a one night stand and leaves her phone behind. She thinks she will never see him again , little does she know he is about to be her new step brother . They soon find out they have known each other longer than they thought.
These two start a long drawn out relationship of ups , downs and so many hurts. “I fell in love with Maddox before I knew how to jump. Now I’m drowning.” Amethyst doesn’t feel good enough for Maddox, and all Maddox wants is her .
However the past is trying to keep these two apart . They make bad decision after bad decision. They both love each other more than anything but is it enough . There are secrets revealed that no one say coming and hidden dangers that are getting closer .
This story was another great one from Amo Jones . I become invested in these characters from the very beginning . I wanted Maddox and Amethyst to be together. To face the world together , to be so much more. I cried , I laughed and I was even worried about what was going to happen with these characters. When they hurt , I hurt . When they were happy , i was happy . That to me is what makes a great book . I loved every second of this ride that Amo Jones took me on and I look forward to reading more of her work .
