If fate was a two-sided coin, I chose tails so Emily could win heads. When Mob Boss, Olivia Dixon’s twin sister Emily suddenly goes missing, Olivia is hellbent on not just rescuing her but destroying the people responsible, no matter who that ends up being.A guilt-ridden Olivia is convinced that they’ve got the wrong sister. After all, Emily’s life is pretty tame by comparison. Instead of working … comparison. Instead of working with knives and guns, she teaches five-year-old kids how to spell.
In a last ditch attempt to find her, Olivia takes her sister’s place; at work, with friends and perhaps more importantly even in Emily’s husband’s bed.
She’s not your average girl. Olivia is a female mob boss in Flip A Coin, a mafia romance from USA Today Bestselling Author, Hanleigh Bradley.

This is book one in The Utterly Betrayed Series and it is Olivia’s story and omg what a great start to a new series and it is definitely a must read. Olivia is running the biggest mafia organisation at the age of twenty five and now she has been told that her twin sister Emily is missing and Olivia will do anything to bring her home even if she has to sacrifice her own life to do it as she has protected and kept Emily safe and out of the family business and has even kept away from Emily herself all her life so that Emily could have a normal life and now she needs to find her and eliminate those that have taken her. There are twists and turns that you definitely didn’t see coming along with betrayal, kidnapping, danger, suspense, hope, love and some difficult situations and I couldn’t put this book down as it was so addictive and a real page turner that had you on the edge of your seat wondering what would happen next and I can’t wait to read the next book. This is the first book that I have read by Hanleigh Bradley but definitely not the last as it was so well written and engaging and I definitely recommend you read it and you will not be disappointed.
I’ll start off with what I disliked about this book, which is very minor. There are a couple of characters named Jack and Jax. I mention this occasionally in my reviews; I have a difficult time with names. With two of the main characters being twins, it was super confusing to follow the plot at a few points for me.
The second and only real issue is the summary saying the story won’t end on a cliffhanger is total bullshit. It doesn’t end in the middle of a scene or anything. But it doesn’t exactly wrap up the plot threads either. It does mention that book 2 is from the perspective of another character, which I am extremely excited about.
I’ve grown to love this type of story. (These short, 2 – 5 hour long books that are really a part of a greater novel.) It allows you to dip your toe in the water and see if the book is for you without spending a lot of munny on it. The only downside is when the latter parts haven’t been written or ported to Audible. Which can be truly maddening if you’re in the middle of a story and can’t wait to read the next part, but don’t know when that will be…..I’m not padding out the review, why are you looking at me like that?
The story. Oh em meeee! I love it. I wish I could talk about it more, but I want to avoid spoilers. Several times I forgot I was listening to a story that’s part romance. I was so invested in the kidnapped sister plot that I forgot what the story’s genres were. I was sitting on the edge of my seat the entire time. It’s a thriller that lives up to its name and honestly felt like way longer than it was. It’s 4 hours long, I was listening at 2.55x speed and it still felt way longer than it actually was. This story was genuinely exciting and I could not wait to see how things turned out… and part 2 isn’t on Audible yet. I’m going to go cry myself to sleep now.
Hanleigh Bradley is quickly becoming one of my flavorite authors. I’ve reviewed 4 of her stories so far and each one has been great. I’m not sure if I like this story or Lupine more though. I usually let things stand the test of time (1-year minimum) before I call them my flavorite. But these two stories have stuck with me. There are few stories that I’m as excited about the sequels to as these two series.
The narrator was… a narrator I guess. I woke up to a review copy of this book. Seen the author’s name, redeemed it, began listening, and then spent the day doing wiki stuff that I’ve been putting off for a month. Point is, I don’t remember the narration, just the story. In my books though, that’s a good thing. If I didn’t take notes, it was because I was entirely invested in the story, there weren’t any audible errors or stupidly mispronounced words.
If it wasn’t abundantly clear at this point, I enjoyed this book. A lot. It’s often I go into reviews now knowing what I want to say. But the books that really click with me always end up being the easiest to write about. It’s because I’m passionate about them and wish I had somebody to share them with.

I enjoyed this story. It was full of twists and turns and suspense.
Olivia and Emily are identical twins with totally opposite lives. Mafia boss Olivia has done everything she can to protect school teacher Emily from the mafia life. Only to find that she doesn’t know her sister at all.
I liked that you didn’t know what might happen next, or where the next twist might be.
A fast paced story, with a sweet romance on the side.
Flip A coin is an engrossing book that keeps you guessing! This was a quick read for me I didn’t want to put it down. I would love to know more about our heroine and her past hopefully that will be coming in future books.
This book is quite different from the other mafia books I’ve read but overall I really enjoyed it. The book was full of twists, turns, suspense, drama and secrets. Olivia is the mob boss but she is quite a conundrum. She is direct into the point with her business but she is also caring and has a good heart. Emily, Olivia‘s identical twin has gone missing and Olivia won’t stop until she has her back and find out if it is mob related. Will Olivia be able to get her back?
I loved Olivia. The idea of a female mob boss is awesome. We don’t see it too often. The edition I read was extremely well written and developed. It is an absolute fantastic story with so much action, drama, suspense, betrayal. It is a stunning story that has you on the edge of your seat. The ending though has me anxious for more. I loved Jax and his personality. Todd is sweet and you can see such a caring side to him. I absolutely can’t wait to read the next book in the series. As this one was an absolute must read.
This is book 1 in Bradley’s new series Utterly Betrayed and can be read as a stand alone, but honestly after listening to this I can not wait for the next in this series!
This is a phenomenal listen from every direction. I’ll start with the narration – absolute perfection! Greenway almost makes this sound like a dual narration with her pitch and tone changes and the accent, there are just no words for how much I loved the narration on this listen.
As for the story itself. So well written with good storyline flow that will captivate from the very beginning with characters that grab your attention and a storyline with so many twists and turns and betrayals around every corner. The main characters in this read are Olivia and Todd and these two come from completely different worlds and then those worlds collide in the most devastating of ways!

I love this plot! So unpredictable. Twins. One a mob boss. The other a kindergarten teacher. One with a heart. The other without. Two sides of a coin. Love. Betrayal. Action. Mystery. Cheating. But….only a happy for now conclusion. I was disappointed that all the questions weren’t answered. I will need to read the second book!
I loved listening to the narrator! She read pretty matter-of-factly, but I felt that would be how these characters would be. I really enjoyed my time with this book.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from Story Origin.
The tale of two sisters, identical twins, who are couldn’t be more different from one another, is one of deep love and surprising betrayal. Olivia Dixon is a mob boss who’s trying to take the family business legit. She’s one of the most powerful mob bosses in London, but someone is trying to make inroads into her holdings. She promised her father that she would run the business if he would send her twin sister, Emily, away where she would be safe. Her worst nightmare comes true when she gets word that Emily has been kidnapped and she’ll never forgive herself if she doesn’t find her, and soon. But the truth is not what it seems and everyone becomes immersed in a mystery of power, revenge and subterfuge. Just as we’re about to learn more about what’s happening, the story ends with a happy for now. It’s classified as a standalone, but some of the ends will be tied up in the next book. Susan Greenway does a tremendous job giving a voice to each of the characters who seem to jump off the page.
Most Likeable Mob Boss
4.5 stars – I REALLY like this book! It’s darker than Hanleigh Bradley usually does but you will NOT hear me complain about it.
There are great twists that have me hoping that Todd gets his wish. At the same time, I’m wondering where Jax fits into everything. As for Olivia, she’s the most likeable mob boss I’ve ever encountered and I’m cheering that she’s able to accomplish her goals while getting to the bottom of the current situation.
I read and listened to this story and can’t wait for the next installment! Yes, there will be a continuation to this saga and reading in order is recommended. Susan Greenway does a good job narrating. I must wish there was a second person to add a little more distinction between the characters.
Story: 4.5 stars
Narration: 3 stars
This is the first book in the Utterly Betrayed Series. The storyline is suspenseful, filled with secrets, betrayals, and twists and turns. The characters are interesting, and intriguing. This is a great start to the Series. Susan Greenway has a beautiful voice. She did a good job with the narration.
I used to be an English teacher; so, usually when I’m grading, I started with positive comments. The errors here were too annoying; so, sorry, I give the negative first. When I would grade essays, the content and editing grades were always separate, as most middle schoolers are abysmal at editing. I had to keep reminding myself of this clear point while reading this Absolutely, Fabulous story…! Content is more important than editing!
I loved the story, but editing at this level of publishing should generally be in the ‘A’ range and not in the generous C- I give Flip a Coin. Look at my Goodreads account to see my highlights. I didn’t do the first half, because I was trying to ignore them and hoped they’d go away. However, the most disturbing error in author judgement was not due to her lack of proofreading skills but in switching between first person perspectives chapter to chapter and not warning readers. Several times I had to reread to get the right character voice in my head that coincided with the voice on the page. Anger at an author also throws me off while I’m reading. I really should have given this a ‘3.’
On a positive note: Flip a Coin is a fun, fast-paced, steamy read with several switcheroos that will keep you wondering who the good guys are. I think it’s a good story that will keep you guessing and entertained. I was. I am looking into the author’s other books, as well!
This is a fantastically suspenseful read involving the mafia. This is a very unique mafia/mob read that has great twist and turns. Flip a Coin has me easily engrossed by the plot-line and characters. I really like the polar opposite elements, (like the twins). I am looking forward to more from this series. I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased, honest review.
I want to start off by saying that I am upset with myself that it took me so long to read Flip A Coin. But I am glad that I did! I won’t spoil anything like I usually do. But I will say this, Bradley doesn’t leave you bored at all. Flip A Coin has action, drama, romance, and betrayal. Ok, a lot of betrayals.
Olivia Dixon, the mob boss the biggest syndicate in London has to find her kidnapped sister, Emily. But to find her she must enter Emily’s world. Olivia meets Todd, Emily’s husband. Olivia quickly realizes that she doesn’t know who her sister is since she has shielded her from the mob life. Before long nothing to Olivia is at is seems in this nail-biting story.
What I enjoyed about the story was the characters, especially Olivia. I liked how Bradley shows a sensitive side as well as the tough side to Olivia. In addition, I enjoyed the language of the novel. It felt authentic. Ms. Bradley has a way of writing that nothing is rarely as it seems and I liked that a lot. She constantly leaves you guessing.
suspenseful book That will pull you in from the first page with lots of twists and turns.
This is a well written suspenseful book that when you think you have if figured out, it flips and twists. A story of two sisters… What is happening with the sister and one is a Mob Boss? This has surprises, betrayals, twists and turns all wrapped up in suspenseful story. The author does a excellent job keeping you on the edge of your seat from the very first page and I could not put down. The characters are very well-written and you will enjoy them. The author is amazing! You won’t be disappointed with this book.

Great storytelling! I loved the mystery in this story. The author created drama then let it play out. The reveals began slowly but escalated quickly and effectively leaving the reader stunned by the cliffhanger ending. I can’t wait to read the next book.
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting.
