This one is worth taking a risk on as it will suck you into a vortex of a thrilling ride. What seems like truth can have hidden secrets and when printed starts a series of events that somehow ties into Savannah’s legal clients and her personal life. Add in a few romantic sparks and you have a winner. I especially enjoyed watching Savannah’s walls break down and making her a more relatable character as the book progressed. We all need someone to lean on and when we let our defenses down and become more vulnerable then God can work on the perfect plan for our life. Ms. Putnam is an expert at writing a political thriller that you won’t want to put down.
I received a complimentary copy from CelebrateLit/publisher. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
Cara Putman has given me several enjoyable evenings of reading which is why I wanted to read Flight Risk though I knew I would dislike one aspect of the plot … The fact that Savannah was divorced. And yes, I disliked that part of the book but it didn’t take too much enjoyment away from the book.
I have been intrigued by Mrs. Putman’s suspense, even though the characters have professions that I know next to nothing about, like lawyers as Savannah was in this novel.
Touching on hard subjects such as sex trafficking, suicide, and murder this is a hard to put down suspense that will have you on the edge of your seat!
I have to lower my rating of Flight Risk due to my dislike of some content that I felt didn’t have a redemptive ending.
I really liked the journalism side of the book, it was really informative!
Those that have read the author’s previous books will enjoy Flight Risk, as will readers who have enjoyed Lynette Eason, Dani Pettrey, and Dee Henderson’s books.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
I have been a fan of Cara Putnam’s for quite a while now, so when I saw she had a new release, I knew I had to jump at the chance to read it. And just like her other stories, this one had me hooked from the start. What I love about this story is how everyone and everything seems totally unrelated when you first start reading. But by the time you get to the end, somehow everything gets pieced together in ways you didn’t expect, and it just make you want to reread it and see what you missed!
Savannah is a great character who relies on the Lord. My favorite part of the whole book was when she was praying for God to help her forgive her sister and extend grace on a daily basis. This was a beautiful example of how we all should be! There are people that I interact with daily that may not be an alcoholic, but do things that bother me and upset me. I am quick to get upset, and not quick to pray and ask for the strength to forgive and offer grace. In the midst of the legal turmoil, and investigation of what was happening with Savannah’s ex-husband, this piece just really jumped out at me. I love it when authors are able to include such a wonderful message in their stories!
Putnam also delivers an exciting story that had me on the edge of my seat. There were twists and turns that I didn’t see coming, and I read probably the last third of the book in one sitting. The interesting part of this book was the inclusion of the POV from the villain. I really enjoy seeing where their mind is at, and how they think they are in the “right” by doing the things they are doing.
Legal suspense fans will enjoy this book. The romance is pretty light, which I actually liked because it made me focus on the characters and their situation more, instead of worrying about who liked who and why lol. But it is there, with an ending that I found satisfying. I hope to see more of these characters in the future, even if they are secondary characters!
I received a complimentary copy of this book and was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
How much do you really know about a person? In Flight Risk by Cara Putman, her legal thriller takes readers on a hunt to answer this question. Savannah is a lawyer for her own firm with her three lawyer friends that have told their stories in Beyond Justice, Imperfect Justice, and Delayed Justice. The tension in Flight Risk takes off in the opening chapter with a news story written by the hero, Jett. From then on, Putnam keeps reminding readers of Savannah’s personal life and how it interacts with her job. The romance between Jett and Savannah is not a top priority in the story, which is the way I like a romance to be in thrillers I read. The suspense kept getting tighter and tighter as the story moved along. I really had a hard time putting the novel down. I planned 2.5 days to finish the novel, but I finished it in one day. Overall, Flight Risk is a legal thriller that is more on the personal level than what happens in the court room. A good chase to seek justice at the end of the novel.
I received a complimentary copy of Flight Risk by Cara Putnam through Thomas Nelson Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.
What is truth? The tension never quits in another fabulous legal thriller penned by this author. Two story lines intertwine in this page-turning suspense. Jett Glover, reporter, prides himself in reporting only the truth. He spends many long hours researching each story making sure his information is correct and true. How then can he accept that his article may have ramifications that are totally unexpected? Savannah Daniels is a very good lawyer currently with a patent infringement suit that seems to morph into something much bigger with each new day. If they work together will they solve both of these mysteries?
Between intrigue, mystery, human trafficking and unexpected danger you will not put this down until you figure out who or what is behind this all. The author does a fine job of keeping the reader in the dark – I will admit it took some time before I thought I knew who was behind it all. I highly recommend this book! What a fabulous way to spend a day.
I received an ARC through Thomas Nelson, HarperCollins Christian Publishing, NetGalley and CelebrateLit. The impressions and comments are my own and were in no way solicited.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author but now I’m hooked so it wont be the last! This story takes you to the Beltway – Washington DC. It takes you into the lives of lawyers and reporters and law enforcement. That might sound like a dry subject but the author makes the main characters come alive and makes them real people with complicated personal lives that will have you caring for them and wanting to know what is going to happen to them. Also, you will want to know who the “bad guys” are! Savannah is an attorney but she is pulled in so many different directions that I wanted to take her into my home and just give her a day off! How she handled so many balls in the air was a mystery to me! She was amazing! Jett is the reporter and he is haunted by his father’s suicide because of a false report so he vows to always write the truth but when he writes the story of a lifetime, he begins to find out there might be another side to it. Savannah’s niece is as sweet as they come and you feel for her and she is put in some adult situations that she shouldn’t have to deal with! There is a plane crash, possible sex trafficking, shady clients, a car crash, undercover work, and so much going on all the time! It’s a story that will have you hesitating to put the book down at any time! It’s a definite recommendation from me!

Another great book by Ms Putman. There is a plot but several sub plots that all tie together in the end. There are several surprises as well. Savannah was hurt in her past marriage so she has trouble trusting men. Let alone a journalist. Jett is a journalist who wants to print nothing but the truth. His father committed suicide due to false journalism. Jett publishes a story that starts an avalanche of suspense. The more that happens, he begins to question whether his facts were all true. Savannah and Jett have to work together to get to the truth. I recommend this book to all suspense fans.
I was given this book by Thomas Nelson Publishers via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
This is a fast paced novel by Cara Putnam and one that I simply couldn’t put down!
So much happening in one book that I eagerly turned or scrolled in this instance that I couldn’t put the book down!
Gosh and the many feelings that ran through this book was wow! I was like one minute I was holding my breath and the next well, my mouth dropped open. I thought for sure my husband would have to pick it up off the floor so to speak.
This is Savannah’s story and Putnam does an excellent job with writing the plot of the story keeping you on the edge of your seat as we watch Savannah go to great lengths to protect her niece. Savannah is a smart woman and I love her because she’s a strong woman and looks out for others no matter the situation she might be in at the moment.
I loved the many twists and turns that this story took. But there were some slow spots and that is to be expected along the way. I think it’s because the author wants us to know what is going on and she does describe it so well that I felt like I was in the story with Savannah, Jett, and racing along trying to find the culprits and figure out “fake news.”
I loved the supporting characters too and I felt they had their fair share in the book.
Putnam has made this book realistic and I liked that the characters were not perfect in anyway. I was rooting for Savannah and Jett as they tried to figure out what the missing link was and my heart was beating 90 miles and hour in the most exciting scenes.
Well done Ms. Putnam! This story made me lose sleep but it was so worth it!
I also love the cover of the book. It’s interesting in itself too.
I very highly recommend this book. Ms. Putnam is an awesome suspense writer to be sure! I eagerly wait for more from her. A start of a great series!
My thanks to Netgalley and Thomas Nelson for a complimentary copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review and all opinions are my own.
Cara Putman’s new book, Flight Risk, is a thriller/mystery with more twists and turns than a rollercoaster. A plane crash, a court case, an exposé, an ex-husband…all somehow linked together as attorney Savannah Daniels and journalist Jett Glover work together to unravel the connections.
Putman’s characters were believable and well-developed. As the book went on, the plot became more engaging. One drawback was that there were several characters written in such a way that it felt like I was missing something, as if I should know them and their stories already. I checked out Putman’s other books and sure enough, they all had been characters in a previous series that I haven’t read yet. If the reader has already read her other series, then I’m sure this book will make more sense and be more appealing. As is, it is still a good book and a fairly quick read.
*I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
FLIGHT RISK by Cara C. Putman is a well-written and intense legal thriller with a touch of romance. It is also my first book by this author. Savannah Daniels owns her own law firm, has great friends, and supports her niece when it’s needed. Jett Glover is a journalist who seeks out the truth. When his story on human-trafficking breaks, tragedy occurs and it affects Savannah both personally and professionally.
The main characters are compelling and had great depth. Their motivations seem believable with realistic actions and emotions. The secondary characters were well-rounded and enhanced the story rather than detracting from it. The internal and external conflicts were well defined and believable. The stakes were high and Ms. Putman certainly made this a page turner.
The prose was engrossing, absorbing and compulsively readable. The plot was suspenseful, heartbreaking, fast-paced, thought-provoking and insightful. There were two story lines that became entangled with lots of twists and turns. The ending was satisfying, but bittersweet. It was difficult to put this book down.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and look forward to reading her Hidden Justice Series as well as any new books featuring Savannah and Jett. If you enjoy suspense, intrigue, and a bit of romance, then I recommend that you check out this novel and see if you enjoy it as much as I did.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Thanks to Thomas Nelson—FICTION and Cara C. Putman for an ARC of this novel via NetGalley and the opportunity to provide an honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and are not biased in any way.
Having read and enjoyed Ms. Putman’s Hidden Justice Series, I was excited to receive this new offering. I was not disappointed! I was pleased to see that Savannah Daniels, a favorite character from the series, is one of the main characters in Flight Risk. All the characters in this book are well-developed and memorable, and they along with the intricate, suspenseful plot make a stirring read. It seems at first that there are two distinctively unrelated storylines, but Ms. Putman skillfully weaves them into one exciting page-turner. The theme of “truth” permeates the story. This poignant quote is one of my favorites: “Truth doesn’t have an expiration date.” As always, I appreciate the faith element scattered throughout the timely, inspiring narrative. I highly recommend this book.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via netgalley but am under no obligation to write a positive review. All opinions are my own
While this is a slight diversion from Putman’s current justice series, the characters overlap. I feel that Putman did an excellent job of connecting the theme and plot to both “Flight” and “Risk.” Savannah continued to take risks on her family despite the fact that they continued to disappoint. “Flight” also references the need to move on from difficult circumstances. They were all sorts of plot twists and turns, and I did not figure out all of the connections until the author revealed it near the end of the book. (Since I often read suspense fiction, I can usually guess the end!) I was given a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley/Thomas Nelson, but I plan on buying a paper copy for my library. All opinions in this review are my own.
Fast paced intrigue and suspense:
This book is a spin-off from the Hidden Justice series but it can be read as a standalone. Savannah and Jett join forces to discover the truth whilst simultaneously fighting the attraction they have towards one another. They both have issues from their past which complicates matters. I didn’t feel that the personal or romance elements were fully developed as the book ends just as Savannah and Jett admit their feelings to one another. Perhaps there are going to be more books to come?
The mystery and intrigue elements were however well done and I wanted to keep on reading to discover how all of the threads would come together. All in all, an engaging and suspenseful book by a talented author.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
“Flight Risk” by Cara Putman was a great read! I have loved every one of Cara Putman’s legal thrillers, and this one is no exception!
This book follows Savannah Daniels and Jett Glover. Savannah has built up her law practice and it is going well. Jett is a thriving journalist. When Jett’s big story hits the press, Savannah and Jett meet and work together to find out what is really the truth. I really enjoyed Savannah and Jett’s characters, and the light romantic tension weaved into their characters.
I love reading good romantic suspense fiction that is clean! This book had some Christian elements in it but it wasn’t preachy. I highly recommend all of Cara Putman’s books. You won’t be disappointed!
I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.
Dull
This was a well plotted book and I enjoyed it and the characters. I am not giving it 5 stars because it was not on the level of some of the “best,” but would still recommend it as an easy, fun read.
Just the right amount of suspense mixed with romance.
Cara Putman develops strong characters that leave an impression because of their goodness and strength of character. I love that many of them make an appearance in some of her other books. Savannah Daniels is one of them. Savannah is a successful attorney who started her own firm. Her personal life is a bit messy. She is a loving, committed aunt to her 14-year-old niece, Addy Jo. Addy’s Dad is Savannah’s ex-husband and her Mom is Savannah’s sister Stasi, who is often high on drugs or alcohol and too often is neglectful of Addy. Savannah pays many of their daily living expenses and often brings meals over. Addy knows she can always count on her aunt.
Jett Glover is a journalist with the Washington Source that is known for presenting news accurately and truthfully. Jett has been doing extensive research on a story that involves Savannah’s ex-husband, Dustin Tate. When he approaches Savannah to obtain information about Dustin, she brushes him off, however, over time, they do establish a friendship of sorts.
Too many details would include spoilers, as this book is full of intrigue. There are many twists and unexpected occurrences that keeps the pages turning to the end. Highly recommend this compelling story!
They call it a legal thriller, but it is light on the legal jargon, which is a positive for me.
The characters are likeable and the plot includes things we see in our headlines: a plane crash, the black box and possible new technology, patent problems, family problems and child traficking, fake or truthful news, and a love interest between two unlikely characters. Good read.
“Finding truth in a fake news world.”
Flight Risk is the first full-length book I’ve read by Cara Putman and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s quite a thrilling read full of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming.
Jett Glover takes pride in his work as a journalist. He’s meticulous in his research and never puts out a piece unless he’s 100% sure it’s the truth. He knows what it’s like to be on the other side of an article full of falsehoods and the devastating consequences that can follow. But when his new article about high profile men involved in human trafficking breaks, tragedy ensues and he’s left questioning everything.
Attorney Savannah Daniels gets wrapped up in Jett’s story because her ex-husband is one of the guys in the article. Then, she finds out that one of the cases she’s working on could possibly be connected to a plane crash that had some of those high profile men on it, one of them being her ex. To protect her niece and find out what’s really going on, she teams up with the pesky reporter to discover the truth.
I had a great time reading this book and trying to figure out how everything was connected and what was fact or fiction. It certainly kept me guessing. I’m excited to check out more of this author’s work.
