I loved Cara Putman’s writing. There was so much detail it felt as if I actually knew the characters their interests, feelings, and thoughts. I felt like slowing down while reading just to savor the writing!
As a result of her ex-husband’s infidelity, a little girl was born. Savannah was shattered by the realization of his betrayal but loved Addy as her niece. She takes her in charge when Addy’s mother is too stoned to be responsible.
Savannah is used to being strong and caring for everyone else. She hasn’t allowed herself time to take care of herself or for romance.
The romance developed slowly but was sweet. There was a really funny scene during the awkward beginning stages of their romance.
I really love how brave and honorable Jett was. He researched his best to find the truth regardless of the outcome. That takes a lot of integrity. I could see why Savannah developed feelings for him. It is easy to trust a man of such moral character. There is a sense of security in their relationship.
When the men under investigation begin dying the situation becomes dangerous. The suspense kept me guessing.
The resolution gave me a wistful feeling and the ending left me with a small question. This reminded me of reading an Agatha Christie novel where there also is an unanswered question but the same glowing enjoyment of reading a great book.
The last couple paragraphs of Flight Risk were absolutely perfect. Wish I could go binge on Cara Putnam’s novels right now. I highly recommend reading this one!
I received a free advanced reader copy of this book. All opinions are completely my own.
I found this book hard to put down and it has a hero and heroine that all of us would like to know. I admit that Jett Glover is a little obnoxious at the beginning but being a promising journalist is probably the reason and it doesn’t take long to determine that he is a good, moral man. Savannah Daniels is an outstanding lawyer devoted to helping her niece and she made me want to be her friend. It is when they become involved in the same case that a romantic involvement seems possible if they both can survive the intrigue and danger.
“She needed to walk away, yet she wanted to walk closer. Was she playing with fire? Probably, but she wanted to take the risk. For the first time in years, she felt the tug to see what the man was really made of.”
Yes, there is romance but Flight Risk is basically a thrilling, fast-paced suspense story that left me wondering just what Savannah and Jett would discover as they join forces to uncover the truth about Savannah’s ex-husband. I must admit that it certainly wasn’t what I thought when I began this story!
If you enjoy romantic suspense, you will definitely want to read Flight Risk. Cara Putman left me longing for another story that will perhaps offer more of Savannah and Jett’s story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. There was no obligation to write a favorable review and I am voluntarily sharing my own thoughts.
Flight Risk is a multi-layered tale that had me hooked from the very beginning. I honestly did not want to stop reading and it was responsible for at least one night’s lost sleep. Another novel that exposes human trafficking, Flight Risk is written from a different point of view and includes several plot twists that are totally unexpected.
The two primary characters, one a woman with her own law practice and the other a persistent journalist determined to expose the truth at all costs, each have trust issues that prevent them from forming relationships with many people. When Jett Glover’s expose’ on an international human trafficking organization include, s Savannah’s ex-husband, she finds it hard to believe but Jett has the evidence to back up his article. Unfortunately the article prompts a series of senseless murders and Jett and Savannah team up to find out why.
I have enjoyed each and every one of Putman’s suspense novels but this may just be the best one yet. With a wonderful cast of characters, a tangled plot with plenty of danger, action, and romance, as well as a strong message of faith, this story will have its readers questioning how to discern the real truth in any situation. I loved Flight Risk and highly recommend it to other suspense fans.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by Celebrate Lit. A favorable review was not required. All views expressed are my own.
A fast-paced legal thriller that will keep you clinging to the edge of your chair. Mixed with a touch of romance.
Mistakes, heartbreak, pain, exposed secrets. There is so much going on this in this story. Just when you think you’ve got you bearings again, another twist is thrown at us. A main theme that is woven in is – Without truth there cannot be love. The main characters were interesting – Savannah, despite dealing with betrayal and pain is still not afraid to call someone out. Jett, who is a bit crass and sometimes rude, took a bit to grow on me. These two worked well with each other and personalities were very realistic.
When I first heard about this book, I knew I had to read it. It does not disappoint. I highly recommend this legal thriller.
This novel filled with subterfuge and death curls itself around your heart and tugs at your mind. The intriguing tale pulls you right in and doesn’t let go as it progresses, along with the increasing questions that emerge. The twisting threads must all somehow be connected, but what does human trafficking in Thailand, a plane that crashed right after takeoff, an attorney’s ex-husband and teen niece, and an investigative reporter (among numerous other details) have in common? Cara Putnam knows how to weave a powerful story and how to craft interesting, realistic, and vulnerable characters. This book rips scenarios from modern life and uses them as background for her mystery novel, making the fiction seem totally believable. The painful circumstances included in the text still allow hope to rise within. The fast-paced thriller makes you want to keep reading right through to the end. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.
Cara Putman has written another winner with Flight Risk! Savannah Daniels is an excellent protagonist who has built a successful career as an attorney while trying to help her ungrateful sister and her niece who is also her ex-husband’s daughter! Talk about a complicated relationship! Jett Glover writes a news story about three men involved in an international sex -trafficking scandal! You will wonder what is going on when these men start dying! I was surprised by the ending! i recommend Flight Risk to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense! I received a complimentary e-book from the publisher and NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.
What I like most about this author is her ability to write books that are multilayered with intrigue, incredible characters and fast action. It is nice to read a story where you are kept guessing to the end. The author is good at developing the story with danger that starts slow and increases as the pages turn. There is nothing simple about this story.
Savannah is a very smart lawyer who has her hands full with a sister who is usually unstable and a niece that needs her help. Her ex-husband is mixed up in something that is unthinkable. When Jett was introduced I wasn’t quite sure I liked him. As a news reporter he is certainly a go getter. His thirst to get a big story may cost him his life. He soon redeems himself in my eyes when he is determined to find the truth.
The story deals will a plane crash that has ties to Savannah’s ex-husband and her clients. I loved the technology in the book and it is obvious that the author did her research for this book. I don’t want to forget the other mystery in the book. Savannah has clients that are trying to sort out a patent infringement which ties to a plane crash which ties to well you will have to read the book to find out.
Savannah and Jett work together to unravel the mystery while developing a friendship. Will their friendship lead to something more? Can Savannah tear down her walls and start to trust again? What does a plane crash, a new technology and Savannah’s ex-husband have in common? What is in Thailand that would cause people to risk their lives for? The author connects the dots with twists that make this story one of her best to date. Get ready for an adventure that digs into the underbelly of human trafficking, secrets, the FBI and stolen technology.
The truth shall set you free.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
You begin to see that history for Jett’s family is repeating itself, and because of his article things start to go horribly wrong, but why?
The author gives us two very strong characters here, one a lawyer, Savannah Daniels, and the other a star reporter Jett Glover, and how they are thrown together.
You won’t see a lot of what happens coming, your kept on the edge of your seat, and yes, there is a lot of action here. We have sadly murders, and plane crashes, along with human trafficking, and more!
I love this author’s reads, always know I’m in for a great story, and this one doesn’t disappoint!
I received this book through Celebrate Lit, and was not required to give a positive review
Wow! If you love romantic suspense books than this one is for you! This book will keep you on your toes throughout as you go on this wild chase to discover the truth. I love Ms. Putman’s books and this will one is even more intriguing and thrilling. This book gives readers more insight in Savannah. The other main character is Jett, who is a reporter, whose sole purpose is to report the truth. When he realizes what he published is having an impact on people being harmed, he questions what is going on. Savannah and Jett must race to the finish to determine what is going on and what is true and what is not. Be prepared to stay up all night to finish this exemplary, multi-faceted story! I highly recommend this book and know you will not be disappointed! I also recommend her other books as well.
***I was given a free electronic copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest opinion. Even though I received this copy free, this is my own opinion.
FLIGHT RISK….Cara Putman
A phone call caused a distraction for Savannah, a reporter wanting to interview her about her ex husband she has had nothing to do with in fifteen years. He didn’t except the no but came to the office. A handshake the effect as did his blue eyes. Four men making quarterly trips to Thailand ,they take other for activities that are illegal, even the pilot is in it. They are living the
high life. Did she know the name of the fourth, what about her niece that was special to her . A newspaper front page article that rang true, she had to warn her niece. The kids had told her,. The reporter still looking for the fourth,
no one is giving him a name. A story that made from front page, is it based
on facts…The author’s legal background.added richly to this story, and gives one to ponder. Well written, good cast of characters to the end.
Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion by Thomas Nelson and Net Galley.
Flight Risk was a fun romantic legal thriller!
This book was filled with so many layers that flowed together flawlessly, keeping my mind engaged through its entirety. It did not read like your typical legal thriller as most of the mystery takes place outside the courtroom so to speak. Cara Putman explains the legal terms used in an easy to understand verbiage without the information losing its intended meaning. All the while weaving several different plots together for the makings of one cohesive story.
I loved the main character Savannah; she showed a strength that I want to have in my own life. Her reactions to the situations presented were genuinely believable and seemed to fit the situations well. Jett was also a good character who had an encouraging spirit and would do anything to find the truth; something I admire. I enjoyed the themes of learning from our past mistakes and never judging a book by its cover, I though Cara Putman did a great job putting those themes at the forefront throughout the book. I did feel that the end was rushed, as everything happened so quickly, there was just something missing at the end; that is not to say that there isn’t a good ending .
I give this book 4 out of 5 stars for the depth of the characters, the great layered storyline, and the themes presented. I enjoyed this book and I recommend reading it.
