One December evening in Minneapolis, former soldier and police officer, Tony Crow, has been shot on duty. Sustaining severe injuries, he reluctantly takes early retirement from the police force. Estranged from his ex-wife and young son, but desperate to return to their affections, Crow tries to rebuild his life. In a struggle to regain his former independence, strength and purpose, he decides on … on a career as a private investigator.
To bring some muscle to the operation, Crow teams up with his old school friend and former college football player, Don Hanson. Don’s colorful personality contrasts with Crow’s no-nonsense approach to make a unique team.
Like most new companies, business starts slowly but then quickly takes flight when a public figure hires him to find a missing person. Find a missing person? Simple enough, especially with his experience, but it soon becomes apparent that they’re out of their depth.
Tony Crow pits his small team against a formidable opposition, as he becomes aware of dark secrets and hidden agendas that could bring them down without a trace, and affect the future of America.

Enjoyable from cover to cover
Like the whole series
A great story
Well written descriptive narrative. Excellent characters.
You end up caring about this guy which increases both the thrills and suspense as you follow him through his world….
Kept my interest
Good read
Great book, it will keep you up at night
Holds your interest, interesting to the end which does not end as one might expect.
Good book.
A bit predictable, inconsistent, and not quite authentic. Since this was the first book maybe things get ironed out in later offerings. I don’t like it when I figure out main plot points immediately.
So sad there are only 5 available! Great reads!
Plodding, predictable
I prefer my mystery and detective novels to be a bit less predictable than this one was…
Not realistic, poor research a real law enforcement officer would never do what this book claims, especially the ‘Entire 5th Precinct’
Not bad, but not enough there to read the next. Too much describing what’s happening and not enough showing. A convenient sidekick with an unbelievable set of skills. An unbelievable blind spot about how the bad guys know where to be. Needs a little editing—laughed out loud at one point when the word infidelity was used instead of infertility.
It was a quick entertaining read, although the lead character made some foolish choices and decisions. Hard to believe he was a former police officer.
I appreciated that the author didn’t fill the book with trashy language and sex.
It was an entertaining mystery, if pretty elementary.
