“Kingsolver is a gifted magician of words.”—TimeThe extraordinary New York Times bestselling author of The Lacuna (winner of the Orange Prize), The Poisonwood Bible (nominated for the Pulitzer Prize), and Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, Barbara Kingsolver returns with a truly stunning and unforgettable work. Flight Behavior is a brilliant and suspenseful novel set in present day Appalachia; a … brilliant and suspenseful novel set in present day Appalachia; a breathtaking parable of catastrophe and denial that explores how the complexities we inevitably encounter in life lead us to believe in our particular chosen truths. Kingsolver’s riveting story concerns a young wife and mother on a failing farm in rural Tennessee who experiences something she cannot explain, and how her discovery energizes various competing factions—religious leaders, climate scientists, environmentalists, politicians—trapping her in the center of the conflict and ultimately opening up her world. Flight Behavior is arguably Kingsolver’s must thrilling and accessible novel to date, and like so many other of her acclaimed works, represents contemporary American fiction at its finest.

KIngsolver has once again created a story worth reading.
Wonderful story, Barbara Kingsolver always does it right.
The main character found and persued her true path in spite of obstacles. Book was very long and wordy. Pushed a warped global warming view.
Love Barbara Kingsolver and while I wouldn’t say this is one of her best books, it’s definitely worth a read. Interesting characters and important topic.
Another amazing novel by Barbara Kingsolver. Beautifully imagined and written.
I enjoyed reading about the interactions between the working poor community and the scientific community. It was very enlightening to read both points of view.
I’d read anything by Barbara Kingsolver. This book certainly didn’t disapoint
I have been a long time fan, and follower, of Barbara Kingsolver’s books. Her ability to develop characters and plots…and to write mezmerizing descriptive passages are generally unsurpassed. This book had mixed reviews but I purchased anyway because of my love of her work. I have to say, most of the reviews that were of lesser stars were …
Kingsolver never disappoints. Her keen observations and clever analogies make
this book a pleasure to read. While learning
so much about the locale, the characters and
nature, the story keeps your inbreeding throughout.
Kingsolver still writes beautifully. What attracts me most to her novels is the depth of her understanding of the differences between human beings without framing some characters as evil. We’re human beings doing the best we can after the choices we’ve made. In this novel, she uses a theme of global warming and its possible effect on butterflies …
A great read about how life can change. The character development was well done.
Long.
I think Kingsolver is an incredibly gifted writer – but her subjects are such downers!!!
ecologically enlightening
As usual, Barbara Kingsolver has written another favorite book of mine.
Don’t miss this one!
Best book I’ve read in awhile. Layered themes with insightful characters who make you want to read every word
Awesome on so many levels. I think about it everyday especially the environmental issues so cleverly brought to life. Barbara Kingsolver is one of my favorites. The images she creates in your mind are magical. The main character feels like my best friend, now. I can’t wait to read it again.
Amazing insight into global warming and its effects with a very homey backdrop and wonderful characters. En eye-opener and a page-turner.
Kingsolver’s books are one of my all time favorites. My words can’t do hers justice. You can feel the characters ‘ pain, joy, regret….
Poorest of Kingsolver’s books – disappointing.
