“Kingsolver is a gifted magician of words.”—TimeThe extraordinary New York Times bestselling author of The Lacuna (winner of the Orange Prize), The Poisonwood Bible (nominated for the Pulitzer Prize), and Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, Barbara Kingsolver returns with a truly stunning and unforgettable work. Flight Behavior is a brilliant and suspenseful novel set in present day Appalachia; a … brilliant and suspenseful novel set in present day Appalachia; a breathtaking parable of catastrophe and denial that explores how the complexities we inevitably encounter in life lead us to believe in our particular chosen truths. Kingsolver’s riveting story concerns a young wife and mother on a failing farm in rural Tennessee who experiences something she cannot explain, and how her discovery energizes various competing factions—religious leaders, climate scientists, environmentalists, politicians—trapping her in the center of the conflict and ultimately opening up her world. Flight Behavior is arguably Kingsolver’s must thrilling and accessible novel to date, and like so many other of her acclaimed works, represents contemporary American fiction at its finest.

Great book by Barbara Kingsolver. She doesn’t let us down with her flawed characters. Well written. A must read for great summer entertainment.
As always, Barbara has down her research, and created lovely characters!
I always look for, and look forward to, a Barbara Kingsolver book, Bean Trees to Poisonwood Bible (which I have thought of as Congo-it’s time to read again!) to Flight Behavior for 2nd, 3rd time, to Animal Vegetable Miracle. I love good fiction, especially when it also teaches me the truth. And non-fiction, when it teaches me the truth.
I have loved all of her books
Loved it, as all her books.
Barbara Kingslover wrote much better books when she didn’t use them as a soap box.
Love her sense of humor.
Kingsolver at her best! The beautiful prose alone is worth the read, and I actually learned a lot from this book. Thought-provoking and convicting!
Well drawn characters…enjoyable writing style…I know these characters.
Loved it immensely!
As is her custom, KIngsolver is informative and entertaining. Her characters are three-dimensional human beings who are — like the real people in real life — funny, annoying, brainy, thick-skulled, complex . . .
It was very engaging. Never knew what was going to happen next
I loved this book and the characters Barbara Kingsolver created.
You actually learn something real about butterflies and how and why they exist. Very good book.
