YES
THE BEST SERIES EVER.
As this book opens, Alvar’s sentencing for his betrayal is about to happen. The entire Vacker family has assembled in the senate chambers, and Sophie and Keefe have been invited to be there as well. It becomes clear why when the sentence is read, and Alvar is sent to live with his parents and siblings, Sophie’s friends Fitz and Biana. Both of Sophie’s friends, but Fitz especially, don’t trust their older brother and suspect a trick of some sort. But before Alvar’s dwelling is even ready for him, Fitz and Sophie are attacked by the Neverseen, barely escaping with their lives. As they spend time recovering, they begin to wonder what their attack means in the group’s long term plans. Can they figure it out?
I waited longer than I wished to read this book because I needed to find time to read the 850 pages we get here. I did feel the pacing was a bit off at times, especially early on, but overall this is another strong book. We learn some things that will definitely advance the story in future books, and we get some great twists before we reach the climax. Plus, we are left with some nasty cliffhangers. Flashback comes to mean something else by the end of the book, so don’t go into this expecting lots of time spent in the past, although the past does come into play as the book progresses. Once again, the characters are fun, and they provided some great laughs along the way. I felt like this was funnier than the last couple of books have been, and I enjoyed that aspect as well. Fans will definitely be glad they picked up the book. If you aren’t a fan yet, it’s best to go back to the beginning to fully understand everything that is happening here.
Everything
I really enjoy the way the author has the characters argue and discuss what actions to take. Nothing is easy for the heroes.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeE
I highly recommend this book. It’s a sure page-turner that Shanon Messenger has masterfully crafted, yet again, in her series. The seventh book is a cliff-hanger that will have you gripping the edge of your seat ’til the end!
Oof. This book started with such great potential. The initial action took me by surprise, and it was a welcome departure from previous books, setting up what I hoped would be an action packed volume. But sadly, no. We instead got several hundred pages of recovery, where Sophie and Fitz spent the majority of the time in hospital beds unable to do much of anything. The ending payoff, which usually makes these books worth it, did not save this one. A new approach is needed to make this series great again, because the current formula has gotten quite stale.
WAITING FOR MY LIBRARY TO GIVE ME LEGACY!!!!
Best book in the series
I was very excited when my library got this latest book in the series. Then, I read it.
I get that “bottle” episodes can be cool, but after spending half of the book in a single room, I was ready to put it down. Except that I still had hope for the ending. So, I plowed on.
Sure, progress was made on some low-priority (to me) aspects of the overall story. They could’ve been bigger developments…as an indie author, though, I call “plot device:” something happened just so something would happen. Barring a spoiler, that’s as specific as I can get. I’d be a lot less ticked if I didn’t also get the feeling it’s a feint to throw us off, make for a big surprise in the next book.
Anyway. I didn’t enjoy this installment. The bad guys got worse. The good guys are still getting dressed in the dark, so to speak. Etc. Etc.
This 7th edition of the Keeper of the Lost Cities series may not be everyone’s favorite, but it is a great book! The main character (Sophie Foster) gets a nice break from her crazy life for a few chapters, and gets to learn of few new things in that time. Like how crazy powerful she can truly be in ever the ‘simplest’ ways. Then it was right back into the crazy game she calls her life. The ending was quite the cliffhanger, and I’m dying to read the next book!
it was soo good! but beware, there is a very cliff hanger ending!
This is an exceptional book!
I don’t ship fitzphie, I ship sokeefe. Other than that, I loved it
love this whole series.
