Becoming an ER doctor is the second hardest thing Rachel Culver has ever done. The hardest was losing her beloved twin sister two years ago. As a medical resident living far away from her family, Rachel was able to keep her grief at a distance. But now that she’s back on San Amaro Island, there’s no avoiding her anguish…or her guilty secret.Cale Jackson is a rescuer at heart, both in his job as … his job as fire lieutenant and outside of it. But his fiancée’s heartbreaking death derailed him, and he’s been focused on healing himself ever since. When he runs into her sister, Rachel, in the ER, he suspects she’s struggling even more than he is, and he reaches out.
Rachel is an expert at keeping people at arm’s length, but the secret she’s keeping from Cale connects them in a way he’s never imagined. If she tells him the truth, will it bring them closer…or scare him off forever?

I received a free copy of Flash Point Island Fire book 7 by Amy Knupp and this review was given freely.
ER doctor Rachel returns to San Amaro Island and reunites with her almost brother in law, EMT/ fire lieutenant Cale. They grow closer as they both are trying to heal after Rachel’s twin sister’s death. Poignant, well written and sweet with the heartwarming firefighter family and the colorful people like Buck and his resident bat Bob to add interest and humor.
Powerful Story! Romance after Heartbreak
This is an episode of the Fire Island series that stands alone quite well. It is a sweet romance that deals with getting past tragic loss. Parts of the story made me cry, but it left me feeling warm and happy. I have read one other book in this series and hope to read them all. I received this book for free and voluntarily chose to post my honest review.
Kudos to Amy Knupp for writing an outstanding book on such an emotional topic. This story goes beyond a mere romance and includes dealing with loss, anger, guilt, and grief. Don’t be turned off; the book is not “heavy.” Amy Knupp weaves her story with skill and a delicate touch. I never start an Amy Knupp book late at night because I know I am not going to put it down until I finish it. Wonderful characters; realistic plot. I highly recommend this book.
FLASH POINT is book 7 in Amy Knupp’s Island Fire series, however it does work fine as a stand alone novel. You will find yourself eager to read the stories of others who live on San Amaro Island and are part of this series so just know you are in for some binge reading! Now for my thoughts on FLASH POINT, this story is very emotional, but at the same time it’s one of those stories that makes you smile. The characters are realistic, and engaging. The story itself is well written and makes you feel like you are a part of everything. I adored everything from the setting to the characters to the emotions that are revealed and healed throughout the story, add in the romance and you have a story that is one of the best of the year. I highly recommend this story to everyone. I do want to mention while I LOVED this story, there are some very deeply emotional situations and feelings tackled within this story. The loss of a loved one, no matter if it’s your spouse/love interest, or relative, it’s hard to deal with, and to learn to move on from, even more so if it’s unexpected. So be prepared to laugh, cry, sigh, and in the end to smile. Then be ready to read more of Amy Knupp’s writing! You’ll be glad you picked this one up, just be sure to keep a few tissues handy.
I received an ARC of this book for the promise of an honest review. When I first started reading Flash Point, I didn’t see how this story could turn out good, much less one of the best books I have read this year. Rachel as the twin, and Cale as the fiance, left behind find themselves faced with each other. What evolves is a romance worth the read. A definite 5 stars.
FLASH POINT by Amy Knupp
Cade seeing the twin of Noelle, was a shock.. The caring nature is what made Rachel, fall in love with him at first site, three years ago. Now a Dr. working double shifts, a loner, not getting over her twin’s death. Her mother has really changed, coming home early from work, playing golf.Trying to move forward, when she did, Cade was always there. This was a strong emotion packed story, of healing, and learning to be around other people. Not in misery but to remember, and enjoy life.Readers won’t want to stop this good story, how will it end.
Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
